Barn Cefnogwr - Porthmadog v Hwlffordd / Haverfordwest

Saesneg / English

Dyma’r trydydd gêm yn olynol i Port golli a hefyd y trydydd tro iddynt golli yn erbyn Hwlffordd ar Y Traeth yn ystod y tri tymor diwethaf.

Ers y ddwy fuddugoliaeth yn erbyn Cwins y Grange, y clwb ar waelod y tabl, mae perfformiadau Port wedi bod yn ddifflach iawn, gyda’r perfformiad yn erbyn Hwlffordd y gwaethaf ohonynt.

Fel yn erbyn Y Rhyl, roedd posib dadlau fod y gwahaniaeth yn y goliau yn fwy nag oedd y gwrthwynebwyr yn ei haeddu ond, wedi dweud hynny, nid oedd yn esgusodi perfformiad Port yn yr ail hanner.

Cychwynnodd Port yn ddigon bywiog a, gyda’r gwynt ar eu cefnau, nhw oedd yn pwyso am gyfnodau hir. Yn wir, dim ond un cyfle gafodd Hwlffordd yn ystod yr hanner cyntaf – un a arweiniodd at gôl gynta’r gêm.

Er yr holl feddiant gafodd Port o flaen y gôl, y cyfan oedd ganddynt i ddangos amdano oedd un gôl ddigon ffodus gyda Carl Owen yn manteisio.

Os oedd methu troi meddiant yn gyfleoedd yn boen yn yr hanner cyntaf, nid oedd yn baratoad am yr ail hanner lle aeth pethau o ddrwg i waeth.

Ychydig iawn o gyfleoedd greodd Porthmadog yn yr ail hanner a phrin fod amddiffyn Hwlffordd wedi cael cyfnod mor ddistaw â hwn drwy gydol y tymor.

Siomedig iawn oedd gweld yr amddiffyn cartref yn cael ei agor mor aml a mor ddidrafferth yn ystod yr ail gyfnod. Cafodd Richard Harvey ei adael yn ddiamddiffyn ar brydiau gyda blaenwyr Hwlffordd yn cael eu gadael yn hollol rydd dair gwaith ar ochr dde amddiffyn Port.

Er i Hwlffordd gael y gorau ohoni yn yr ail hanner, nid oedd eu perfformiad o’r safon lle fyddech yn disgwyl cweir o 4-1 i ddeillio. Camgymeriadau Port yn y cefn arweiniodd at sgôr a oedd braidd yn gamarweiniol.

Ni fydd bywyd yn haws i Port chwaith pan fydd Llanelli a’u criw o Sbaenwyr yn ymweld. Gallant ddisgwyl brwydr anodd os ydynt am dorri ar y rhediad gwael.

Ar ôl hynny, bydd gan Porthmadog res o gêmau y bydd yn rhaid iddynt ennill os ydynt i orffen mewn safle i sicrhau lle yng Nghwpan Cenedlaethol y BBC. I lwyddo, bydd angen ennill pwyntiau llawn yn erbyn nifer go lew o’r clybiau yma: Y Drenewydd, Caerfyrddin (dwy waith), Cei Conna, Caernarfon, Cwmbrân, Bangor ac Airbus.

Ni fydd yn dasg hawdd i Port o ystyried fod pump o’r gêmau yma i ffwrdd a dim ond dwy fuddugoliaeth sydd ganddynt ar gaeau eu gwrthwynebwyr eleni.

Iwan Gareth.

Fan's View - Porthmadog v Haverfordwest

This was Port’s third successive league defeat and their third home defeat in as many seasons against Haverfordwest.

Since those back to back wins against basement club Grange Quins, Port’s form can only be described as miserable. This game being the most miserable of the lot.

Like the Rhyl match, you could claim the final score flattered the opposition, but that is not to say that Port’s performance, especially in the second half, could be excused.

Porthmadog started quite brightly in the first half.

With the wind on their backs, they had the Lion’s share of goal-mouth action during the first forty-five. Harverfordwest only had one chance during the first period – one that resulted in the opening goal of the match.

For all their first half possession in front of goal, Port’s only reward was a quite scrappy goal scored from close range by Carl Owen.

If failing to turn possession into chances on goal in the first half was hard to stomach, it didn’t even begin to prepare us for what we were about to witness after the interval.

Port’s chances to add to their score in the second half were extremely scarce to say the least, and Haverfordwest’s defence can’t have had many quieter periods of play all season.

It was extremely disappointing to see Porthmadog’s defence being cut open so easily and so often during this spell. Richard Harvey was left totally exposed as Haverfordwest were left practically un-marked down the right side of Port’s defence on three different occasions.

Haverfordwest were definitely superior after the interval, but their performance was hardly the kind you would expect to result in a 4-1 thumping. Rather, it was Port’s mistakes at the back that gave the score such an uneven look.

Things aren’t about to get any easier for Port either. It’ll be an up-hill struggle to bring this poor run of defeats to an end when they host Llanelli’s Spanish Armada next Wednesday.

Porthmadog then face matches they must win if they are to finish in a position that gives them a place in next season’s Premier Cup. To achieve this they’ll probably need to pick up maximum points against as many as possible of the following clubs: Newtown, Carmarthen (twice), Connah’s Quay, Caernarfon, Cwmbran, Bangor and Airbus UK.

They will however have their work cut out as five of these games are away from home bearing in mind that they’ve only won twice on their travels this season.
