Porthmadog FC Ground Criteria Appeal Fund With the controversial changes to the Welsh Premier League due to come into effect for the start of the 2010-2011 season, all the Welsh Premier Clubs who wish to participate in the League after that date will require a FAW Domestic Licence. This Licence covers the same areas as the UEFA Licence, which is required to participate in European competitions. You may recall that Porthmadog FC obtained an UEFA Licence in 2006-2007 and therefore much of the paperwork and so on is already in place. The one area where Porthmadog FC is deficient for the domestic licence is in the ground criteria section. Despite a great deal of work on Y Traeth in recent years there still remain a number of items which do not meet the criteria, these are as follows: 1. We require a dedicated first aid room with equipment such as defibulator, oxygen bottle and mask, etc. It is our intention to renovate the old canteen between the current canteen and the changing rooms for this. 2. Emergency lighting is required in all the stands around the ground. 3. 20 seats in the main stand need to be allocated to members of the press with 5 desks fitted and access to power and telephone lines. 4. A TV Studio needs to be built next to the TV gantry. This must be a minimum size of 5mx5m and have an electric power supply. 5. Require a minimum of 500 tip-up seats. The club already has in the region of 476 seats in place but with the requirements of item 3 above this goes down so further seating is required. The club is therefore proposing to build additional seating capacity at the Quarry End of the ground. 6. Additional shower required in away dressing room. 7. Drug Testing room in the Changing rooms needs work to bring it up to meet the current criteria. We estimate that all this work will cost in the region of £40,000. Substantial grant aid is available from the FAW with up to 75% of project cost being available. This therefore leaves a deficit of some £10,000, which the club has to cover. As part of plans to try and raise this money the club has established an Appeal Fund in line with previous appeals the club has made. Any company, individual or organisation who would like to support the appeal is most welcome to do so. The club will also be undertaking other fund raising activities over the coming months, specifically to raise funds for this project. If you would like to make a donation or would like to assist the club with fund raising events then please contact Phil Jones on 0 7816 213188 or Gerallt Owen on 079200 25338. |
