Gareth yn edrych ymlaen at y tymor newydd
Gareth’s thoughts on the season ahead

Saesneg / English

Rwy’n edrych ymlaen at fy nhymor cyntaf fel rheolwr ac yn ddiolchgar iawn i Borthmadog am y cyfle hwn, er fy mod yn dal yn ifanc i swydd o’r fath. Rwy’n ffodus iawn i gael fy mhrofiad reoli cyntaf mewn clwb arbennig gyda grŵp o wirfoddolwyr brwdfrydig yn trefnu’r clwb yn wych.

Mwy na dim rwyf am geisio dod a’r llwyddiant maent yn haeddu am yr holl oriau maent yn eu rhoi i’r gwaith. Ar hyn o bryd rwyf yn dilyn cwrs Trwydded ‘A’ UEFA ac yn gobeithio defnyddio’r wybodaeth a’r profiad er lles y clwb.

Yn fy marn i dydy’r ffaith ein bod wedi dod i lawr o Uwch Gynghrair Cymru ddim yn gwarantu’r hawl inni fod yn y frwydr am y bencampwriaeth. Mae hyn yn wir hefyd am y clybiau eraill o’r Uwch Gynghrair sydd wedi disgyn yn is yn y pyramid gan fod clybiau cryf fel Llangefni, Fflint a Llandudno yn sicr am roi sialens i bawb. Bydd y Rhyl yna ac mae gan Cei Conna dîm cryf sydd wedi dod at eu gilydd yn dda dros y tymor diwethaf o dan eu rheolwyr newydd. Pe byddai’r tymor wedi parhau am fis arall byddai Cei Conna wedi sicrhau lle yn y 12 Disglair. Mae Derwyddon Cefn hefyd wedi arwyddo nifer o chwaraewyr da. Bydd y tri chlwb a sicrhaodd ddyrchafiad, Rhos Aelwyd, Rhaeadr a Rhydymwyn, a pwynt i’w brofi ac yn synnu nifer o bobl.

Eleni rym yn mynd am bolisi lleol gan roi’r cyfle i chwaraewyr ifanc addawol i lwyddo ar lefel uwch. Yn ffodus rwyf wedi gallu cadw mwyafrif y chwaraewyr lleol o garfan llynedd ac eithrio Chris Jones sydd wedi dechrau mor addawol gyda Bangor yng Nghynghrair Ewropa.

Dod a Campbell Harrison i’m cynorthwyo oedd y cam pwysicaf o’r haf imi. Mae Campbell wedi bod yn rheolwr llwyddiannus iawn ar y lefel yma ac wedi chwarae ac hyfforddi o’r blaen yn Port. Mae wedi ennill parch y chwaraewyr ac wedi bod yn ei datblygu’r dda yn ystod y cyfnod paratoi at y tymor. Bydd apwyntio Campbell hefyd yn caniatáu imi ddal ati i chwarae ar ôl imi wella o’r llaw driniaeth a gefais i’m ffêr yn ystod yr haf.

Mae Campbell yn dweud, “Cynghrair anodd i ddod allan ohoni bu’r Gynghrair Undebol yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf ac, yn dilyn yr adrefnu, mae wedi mynd yn anoddach fyth. Mae’r timau yn llawer fwy trefnus, a fydd yna ddim gemau hawdd a medrwch chi ddim diystyru yr un tîm.”

Rym wedi arwyddo chwaraewyr sydd â phrofiad yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru, i fynd efo’r chwaraewyr ifanc, a bydd hyn yn rhoi cryfder a dyfnder i’r garfan. Mae yna chwaraewyr eraill yr hoffem arwyddo yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf a byddwn yn cadw golwg barhaus ar y sefyllfa, gan ein bod yn y sefyllfa ffodus eleni o gael y ffenestr drosglwyddo yn agor drwy’r tymor.

Cymysg fu’r canlyniadau a’r perfformiadau yn ystod y cyfnod cyn dymor ond rym yn hapus â datblygiad y garfan. Mae gennym gychwyn anodd i’r tymor a byddwn hefyd heb nifer o chwaraewyr o ganlyniad i waharddiadau a galwadau eraill. Felly mae’n bwysig inni gael pethau’n iawn yn ystod yr wythnos nesaf er mwyn sicrhau nad ydym yn wynebu brwydr anodd i gyrraedd y chwech uchaf.

Gareth Parry’s thoughts on the season ahead

I am looking forward to my first season as manager and would like to thank Porthmadog for giving me the opportunity at such a young age. I feel very fortunate to be getting my first experience in management at such a great club, who are well-run by an energetic band of volunteers.

I hope more than anything to be able to bring them the success they deserve for all the hours they put into running the club. I am currently on the UEFA A-licence course and hope to use the knowledge and experience gained to benefit the club.

Just because we have come down from the Welsh Premier for me doesn't make us title contenders by right. I feel this is the same for other Welsh Premier clubs who have dropped down the pyramid as there are strong teams such as Llangefni, Flint and Llandudno who are sure to be contenders. Rhyl will be up there and Connah's Quay have a strong side who have gelled together well under their new management over the past few seasons. Had the season lasted another month or so I believe they would have remained in the Super 12. Cefn Druids have made some very good signings. The three promoted sides, Rhos Aelwyd, Rhayader, and Rhydymwyn will be out to prove a point and I believe will surprise a few people.

This year we are adopting a local policy and will be giving some promising youngsters their opportunity to make their mark at a higher level. I have been fortunate enough to keep the majority of local players from last season, with the exception of Chris Jones, who has made a promising start to his season with Bangor City in the Europa League.

My most important signing during the off-season has been bringing Campbell Harrison in as my assistant. Campbell has been a very successful manager at this level and has previously played and coached at Port. He already has the respect of the players and has been developing them well during pre-season. The appointment of Campbell will also allow myself to continue playing after recovering from the ankle operation I had over the summer.

Campbell says "The Cymru Alliance has been a tough league to get out of over the past few years and due to all the changes has become much tougher. Teams are a lot more organised, there will be no easy games, and no team can be underestimated".

To complement the youngsters we have brought in experienced players who all have Welsh Premier experience and will add strength and depth to the squad. There are other players we are hoping to sign over the next few weeks and will be continuously monitoring others during the season, as unlike last year, we have the luxury of no transfer deadline.

We have had mixed results and performances during pre-season but are happy with the way the squad is developing. We have a difficult start to the season and will be missing some key players for the first month due to various commitments and suspensions, so it is important that we get things right over the next week or so to ensure we do not face an uphill battle in our push for a top 6 finish.
