Adroddiad Hanner-Tymor / Half-Term Report
Saesneg / English. Dengys y ffigyrau hyn sut mae Port wedi dod ymlaen yn ystod hanner cyntaf y tymor yn eu blynyddoedd yng Nghynghrair Cymru a hyn yn ein galluogi i osod mewn persbectif ein perfformiadau cyn belled y tymor hwn. Mae nifer y gêmau yn amrywio yn ôl nifer y timau yn y gystadleuaeth bob blwyddyn. Yr hyn sydd yn sefyll allan yw’r golofn gêmau wedi eu colli –hyd yn oed yn fwy na’r naw gêm gyfartal. Heblaw am dymor 96-97 pan oedd Paul Roberts yn eu cnocio i mewn o bob ongl ni chafwyd y fath fin cystadleuol i’n gêm. A hyn sydd wedi ein gwneud yn dîm mor anodd i’w curo. Cofier ar ôl Nadolig 96-97 aeth y tymor yn flêr yn dilyn ymadawiad Paul i Wrecsam. Yn ddigon eironig, gwelwyd Ryan Davies y tymor hwn yn denu diddordeb oddi wrth glwb yng nghynghrair Lloegr. Y gwahaniaeth pennaf rhwng eleni â 96-97 ydy nifer y buddugoliaethau a dim ond dyfalu y medrwn ynglŷn â’r hyn y byddem wedi ei gyflawni gyda sgoriwr o’r un stabl â Paul Roberts. Y tymor hwn ein gallu i gadw ein gwrthwynebwyr allan sydd wedi’n galluogi i fod mewn safle da yn y tabl. Os medrwn ddal ymlaen yn yr un modd, mae yna obaith gwirioneddol inni ennill lle yn y Gwpan Genedlaethol y tymor nesaf. I Viv ac Osian mae’r diolch am eu trefnusrwydd ar y cae ac i ffwrdd ohono ac i’r garfan fechan am eu brwdfrydedd a’u hymroddiad ar y maes. Dim ond pymtheg gôl sydd wedi eu colli eleni ac mae’r bartneriaeth yn nghanol yr amddiffyn –Ryan Davies a’r capten Lee Webber- wedi profi eu bod ymysg y goreuon yn y gynghrair. Mae Gerard McGuigan yn cael tymor gwych arall gyda chwech o gêmau cynghrair di-sgor hyd yma. Mae pedwar o chwaraewyr wedi cychwyn pob gêm eleni hyd yn hyn sef Gerard McGuigan, John Gwynfor, Ryan Davies a Lee Webber. Edrychwn ymlaen at flwyddyn newydd dda. English These figures show how Port have fared during the first half of the season during their years in the Welsh Premier and enable us to put this season’s performances so far into perspective. The number of games varies according to the number of teams involved in the competition from year to year. What stands out this term is the games lost column –even more so than the nine draws accumulated. Apart from season 96-97 when Paul Roberts was knocking goals in from all angles, we have not had such a competitive edge which now makes us such a difficult side to beat. Of course, after Christmas in 96-97 we suffered a serious slump after Paul left for Wrexham. Ironically enough this season has seen Ryan Davies attracting interest from an English league club. The difference between 96-97 and this season lies in the number of victories recorded and one can only surmise as to what could have been achieved this season with a goal scorer in the Paul Roberts mould. This term it is our ability to keep the opposition at bay that has given us such a strong league position. If the excellent first half can be maintained then a place in the Premier Cup is a strong possibility. For this we must thank Viv and Osian for their excellent organisation on and off the field and for the enthusiasm and dedication of the small squad on the pitch. In particular our defensive formation has only conceded 15 goals with the central defensive partnership of Ryan Davies and Lee Webber proving themselves to be among the best in the league. Gerard McGuigan is having another fine season with 6 league clean-sheets to date. Four players have started every league game so far this term- Gerard McGuigan, John Gwynfor, Ryan Davies and skipper Lee Webber. We look forward to a happy new year. |
