Da oedd clywed hyfforddwr Port, Osian Roberts, yn sylwebu ar gem Cymru yn erbyn Azerbijan, fel rhan o dim S4C yn Baku. Bu llawer o ganmol iw gyfraniad gan gefnogwyr yn gyffredinol. It was good to hear Port coach, Osina Roberts, commentating on the Wales against Azerbijan match, as part of S4C's team in Baku. His contribution was met with wide approval from supporters in general. 09/11/02 Harvey yn Symud. / Harvey on the Move. Mae golwr Port, Richard Harvey, wedi ymuno â un o brif wrthwynebwyr Port yn y Cymru Alliance, Llangefni, ar ôl iddo golli ei le yn nhim cyntaf Port yn y ddwy gêm ddiwethaf yn erbyn Buckley a Cegydfa. Bydd, wrth gwrs, yn llenwi’r gwagle a adawyd rhwng y pyst i’r clwb o Fôn, pan symudodd Gerard McGuigan i’r cyfeiriad arall bythefnos yn ôl. Yr hyn sy’n syfrdanol am yr hanes yma, am ddau golwr, yw mai dim ond 3 gôl a rwydwyd yn erbyn Port mewn 9 gêm gynghrair y tymor hwn. Port keeper, Richard Harvey, has joined one of Port’s main Cymru Alliance rivals, Llangefni Town, after losing his place in Port’s first team for the last two matches against Buckley and Guilsfield. He will, of course, fill the space left between the posts for the Anglesey club, following the departure of Gerard McGuigan, who made a move in the opposite direction a fortnight ago. The surprising fact in this tale of two keepers, is that only 3 goals have been netted against Port in 9 league matches this season. 09/11/02 Gêm ffwrdd. / Game Off. Cafodd y gêm gartref yn erbyn Treffynnon eu gohirio yn dilyn y glaw trwm a achosodd lifogydd ar draws de Gwynedd yn ystod y dyddiau diwethaf. The home game against Holywell was called off following the heavy rain that has caused to flooding right across south Gwynedd during the last few days. 21/7/02 Gerard McGuigan Ychwanegwyd golwr newydd i garfan Port gan y rheolwr Viv Williams. Bydd Gerard McGuigan, a fuodd am gyfnod ar lyfrau Arsenal, yn ymuno a Port ar ôl anghydweld gydai’i glwb presennol, Llangefni. Mae’r golwr o Fethesda wedi chwarae ar lefel Cynghrair Cymru yn y gorffennol, gan ymddangos i Gaernarfon, a’n ddiweddarach, Conwy. Bydd yn arwyddo i Port fel ail glwb, ond mae wedi ei gysylltu hefyd gyda Cei Cona yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Viv Williams has added a new goalkeeper to the Port squad. Gerard McGuigan, who was on Arsenal’s books for a time, has joined Port after a fall-out with his present club, Llangefni Town. The keeper from Bethesda has played at League of Wales level in the past, with spells at Caernarfon Town and, later, Conwy United. He will sign second club forms for Port, but has also been linked with a move to Mitsubishi Welsh Premier club, Connah’s Quay. 13/10/02 Diwedd y record di-guro / End of unbeaten run. Daeth diwedd i rediad di-guro Port y tymor hwn wrth iddynt golli o 4 gôl i dair yn erbyn Glantraeth o'r Welsh Alliance (y gynhrair nesaf i lawr) yng Nghwpan Cymru. Yn rhyfedd, gwelwyd record arall yn cael ei thori ar yr un pnawn - hwn oedd y tro cyntaf i Port sgorio yn yr hanner cytaf y tymor hwn, wrth i Tony Williams rwydo ar ôl 10 munud. Hwn oedd hefyd oedd y tro cyntaf ers amser maith i Dafydd Evans fethu a sgorio o'r smotyn. Port's unbeaten run this season came to an end, as they were beaten by 4 goals to three against Glantraeth of the Welsh Alliance (the next league down) in the Welsh Cup. Strangely, this was not the only record that was broaken on the day - this was the first time for Port to have scored in the first half this season, as Tony Williams netted in the 10th minute. This was also the first time in a long while for Dafydd Evans to miss from the spot. 6/10/02 Canlyniadau Medi - Cyngrhair Gwynedd (yr ail dim) September Results - Gwynedd League (2nd team) Medi/Sept 7 Llanfairfechan (A) 6-1 Medi/Sept 21 Pwllheli (H) 3-4 Medi/Sept 24 Blaenau Ffestiniog (H) 1-1 Canlyniadau Medi -Caernarfon a'r Cylch (y Trydydd tim) September Results - Caernarfon and District (Third Team) Medi/Sept 7 M. Llandygai (GS Cup) (A) 3-2(pens) Medi/Sept 14 Pwllheli Res (FfN Cup) (h) 0-1 Medi/Sept 28 Llanrug Res (A) 3-7 16/9/02 Rheolwr y Mis / Manager of the Month. Llongyfarchiadau i Viv Williams ar ennill gwobr rheolwr y mis, am fis Awst, yn y Cymru Alliance. Nid yw hyn yn fawr o syndod yn dilyn cychwyniad arbennig y tim i'r tymor, yn ennill eu pedair gem gyngrhair – heb ollwng yr un gol- yn ogystal ag un gem gwpan yn ystod y mis. Dyma'r pedwerydd tro i Viv gipio'r wobr yma ers cymryd yr awennau ar y Traeth. Congratulations to Viv Williams on gaining the award for the month of August in the Cymru Alliance. It will come as no surprise in view of the team's outstanding start to the season, winning their four league games without conceding a goal and, in addition, gaining a League Cup win. This is the fourth time for Viv to gain this award since taking the manager's job at the Traeth. 16/9/02 Emrys Williams Bu cryn edrych ymlaen ymysg cefnogwyr Port i weld Emrys yn ol ar y Traeth yn dilyn ei arwyddo yn ystod yr haf. Y tebygrwydd ydy na fydd cyn-chwaraewr Bangor a Chaernarfon yn barod i ymddangos am beth amser eto gan fod angen llaw-driniaeth ar ei benglin. Y posibilrwydd ydy y bydd yn wythnosau neu, hyd yn oed, yn ychydig o fisoedd cyn y bydd yn ddigon heini i chwarae. Supporters have looked forward to the return of this talented defender to the Traeth following his signing for the club during the summer. The former Bangor and Caernarfon player may not make his return debut for sometime however as his knee injury will require an operation. It could be several weeks or even a few months before he is ready to play again. 16/9/02 Cwpan Cymru / Welsh Cup Yn dilyn y fuddugoliaeth yn erbyn Dinbych (3-0), bydd Port yn chwarae yn erbyn Glantraeth yn y rownd nesaf. Mae'r gem i gael ei chynnal yn Bodorgan ar Hydref 12fed am 2:30pm. Following the victory against Denbigh (3-0), Port will face Glantraeth in the next round. The game will be held at Bodorgan on October 12th at 2:30pm. 16/9/02 Canlyniadau Awst - Cyngrhair Gwynedd (yr ail dim) August Results - Gwynedd League (2nd team) Awst/Aug 17 Caernarfon 2-0 Awst/Aug 20 Nantlle 2-5 Awst/Aug 24 Deiniolen 5-1 Awst/Aug 27 Nefyn 3-2 Awst/Aug 31 Biwmaris 3-2 Canlyniadau Awst -Caernarfon a'r Cylch (y Trydydd tim) August Results - Caernarfon and District (Third Team) Awst/Aug 14 Barmouth 1-10 Awst/Aug 17 Nefyn Res 3-3 Awst/Aug 21 Pwllheli Res 2-4 Awst/Aug 24 Llanrug Res 3-3 Awst/Aug 28 Bethel 0-4 Awst/Aug 31 M. Llandygai 1-4 25/8/02 Tim Gwan / Weakened Team Bu'n rhaid i Port ddechrau'r gem ddoe gyda tim wedi ei wanhau'n ddirfawr oherwydd cymysgfa o resymau. Bydd Emrys Williams yn parhau i fod allan o'r tim am beth amser wrth iddo ddod dros annaf, tra mae Carl Owen hefyd yn parhau allan yn dilyn triniaeth iw lygad. Yn absennol hefyd oedd Steve Pugh oherwydd gwaith, gyda John Glyndwr Jones, Jason Jones a Danny Hughes i gyd i ffwrdd ar wyliau. Bu'n rhaid arwyddo Steve Cooper o Fangor er mwyn gwneud y niferoedd fynny, tra bu'n rhaid i Viv Williams roi ei enw i lawr ar y fainc. Port had to start yesterday's game with a much weakened team due to a mixture of reasons. Emrys Williams will remain out of the team for some time while he recovers from an injury, while Carl Owen has still not fully recovered from an eye opperation. Also absent was Steven Pugh due to work commitments, while John Glyndwr Jones, Jason Jones and Danny Hughes were all away on holiday. Steve Cooper had to be signed from Bangor to make the numbers up, while Viv Williams had to put his name on the Subs Bench. 16/8/02 Newyddion Tim / Team News Bydd Port heb nifer o chwaraewyr am amrywiol rhesymau ar gyfer gem agoriadol y tymor ar gae Lon Bach dydd Sadwrn. Mae Carl Owen yn dal i wella o law driniaeth ar ei lygad tra fod ei gyd ymosodwr, Dave Farr, mewn priodas yn Llundain. Ni fydd Gareth Caughter, Joe Cooper na Richard Hughes ar gael chwaith. Port will be without several players for the league season opener at Lon Bach, Amlwch on Saturday. Carl Owen is recovering from an eye operation while his striking partner Dave Farr is attending a wedding in London. Others missing are Gareth Caughter, Joe Cooper and Richard Hughes. 8/8/02 Gemau / Fixtures Am y tro cyntaf ers i Port fod yng nghyngrair y Cymru Alliance, mae rhestr gemau wedi cael eu cyhoeddi ar gyfer y tymor cyfan, yn hytrach na fesul mis. Mae Port wedi galw am hyn ers tro, a'r gobaith yw y bydd hyn yn helpu iddynt drefnu mlaen llaw yn llawer gwell. Bydd y gêm gyntaf y tymor hwn yn cael ei chwarae ar Awst 17 yn erbyn Amlwch. Gallai gem olaf y tymor ar Fai yr ail, oddi cartref yn erbyn un o geffylau blaen y tymor diwethaf, Bae Cemaes, brofi i fod yn dyngedfennol os yw Port am wireddu eu gobeithion o gyraedd y Gynghrair genedlaethol. Mae rhestr llawn iw gael ar y dudlaen gemau. For the first time since Port have been in the Cymru Alliance league, a full fixture list has been announced for the whole season, as opposed to a monthly list of matches. Port have called for this change for some time, and the hope is that it will help them to prepare in advance. The first match will be played on August 17 against Amlwch. The last match of the season on May the second, away against one of last season's front runners, Cemaes Bay, could prove critical if Port are to fulfil their hopes of a return to the League of Wales. The full fixture list is now posted on the fixtures page. 3/8/02 Patrick Lawler. Derbynniwyd y llythyr diddorol hwn yn gofyn am fwy o wybodaeth am gyn chwaraewr i Port, Patrick Lawler. Tybed os oes rhywun efo unrhyw wybodaeth allai fod o gymorth. The following letter was received, asking for more information about an ex-Port player, Patrick Lawler. Does anyone have any information that could be of any help? Dear Sir/Madam, I don't know if you can help me but here goes. My father Patrick Lawler, brother of Chris who played for Liverpool, passed away last Thursday, 25th July, aged 74, his funeral being this Thursday, 1th August. In his day, from all reports I've heard, he was a player of great renown, playing the majority of his football at outside left. He often used to talk of his time with great enthusiasm, playing against players such as T.G Jones and the like in the Welsh league. He mentioned playing for a number of clubs, although more often than not, it was Porthmadog he would talk about. I remember him once saying he turned down the chance to play in the Welsh amateur cup final as it would have been his first game for the club and hence thought it unfair on the other players. I would imagine he played in the mid fifties as he was born in 1928. I know a lot of his friends used to travel over to play as well. What I am asking, both out of intrigue and maybe seeking some form of comfort, is whether or not you have any career statistics, newspaper articles or anything that would give me a better insight into my father's career. Anything you could do for me would be greatly appreciated and I look forward in anticipation to your reply. Chris Lawler |
