19/05/14 Sadwrn Twtio ar y Traeth / Traeth Cleaning-up day Mae Sadwrn, 31 Mai wedi ei glustnodi ar gyfer cwblhau rhai o’r tasgau angenrheidiol i baratoi’r Traeth at y tymor nesaf. Mae’r clwb felly yn gwneud apêl am gymorth cefnogwyr i wneud gwaith fel peintio, strimio, trimio a gwaith ar y cae -yn arbennig trwsio’r cae ymarfer lle fydd y garfan gyntaf yn ymarfer y tymor nesaf. Hefyd bydd yna waith clirio cyffredinol. Bydd yna ambell dasg lle fydd angen ychydig o fôn braich ychwanegol i’w chwblhau! Felly apeliwn at rhai o’n cefnogwyr ychydig iau i ddod i’r Traeth yn ystod y bore neu’r prynhawn. Byddai hyn yn cael ei werthfawrogi’n fawr. Bydd yna rhywun ar Y Traeth o 9 o’r gloch ymlaen ar 31 Mai a byddai cael eich cymorth am awr neu ddwy yn cael ei werthfawrogi’n fawr. Saturday, 31 May has been earmarked as a day to carry out some of the tasks needed to spruce up the Traeth. The club is appealing for the assistance of supporters to undertake tasks such as painting, strimming, trimming, work on the pitches –particularly repairs to the training pitch which will be where the first team squad train next season. There will also be other general clearing jobs. Also there are other tasks which will need some extra muscle, so if some of our younger supporters are available at any time during the morning or afternoon their assistance would be very much welcomed. There will be someone in attendance at the Traeth from 9 am onwards on 31 May and a couple of hours assistance at any time during the day would be greatly appreciated. 16/05/14 Llwyddiannau YSGOL EIFIONYDD / YSGOL EIFIONYDD successes Llongyfarchiadau fil i ddisgyblion Ysgol Eifionydd ar eu llwyddiant ysgubol yn codi’r gwpan mewn tair cystadleuaeth pêl-droed genedlaethol. Cafwyd buddugoliaeth o 7-1 gan tîm y merched Dan-14 dros Ysgol Dyffryn, Port Talbot. Sgoriodd Casia Pike pump o’r saith gôl yn y gêm hon a chwaraewyd yn Aberystwyth. Llwyddodd tîm y merched Dan-13 yn y ffeinal hefyd, yn curo Cwm Rhymni o 7-0 mewn gêm a chwaraewyd ar gae TNS yng Nghroesoswallt. Dyma’r ail dro i’r ysgol ennill y gystadleuaeth hon. Roedd brwydr anodd yn wynebu tîm yr hogiau Dan-16 ac, ar ddiwedd y gêm, 1-1 oedd y sgôr yn erbyn Ysgol Uwchradd Caerdydd. Aeth y gêm wedyn i giciau o’r smotyn ac Eifionydd oedd yn llwyddiannus o 8-7 gyda’r capten Leo Smith yn codi’r gwpan ar rhan y garfan. Chwaraewyd y gêm hon hefyd ar gae TNS. Huge congratulations to the pupils of Ysgol Eifionydd on their outstanding achievements winning no less than three all-Wales football cup competitions. The Girls’U-14 team defeated Dyffryn School, Port Talbot by 7-1 in a game played at Aberystwyth, with captain Casia Pike scoring 5 of the seven goals. The Girls’ U-13 team also won their final at the TNS ground in Oswestry. The Cup was won with a 7-0 victory over Cwm Rhymni. This is the second time for the school to win this age group trophy. The Boys U-16 team faced a tough battle also at the TNS ground when they played Cardiff High School. The scores were level at 1-1 at the end before the game was decided by a penalty shoot-out and the 8-7 tally meant that Ysgol Eifionydd captain Leo Smith lifted the Cup at the end. 13/05/14 PAPS YDY’R DYN! / PAPS IS OUR MAN! Llongyfarchiadau i Craig Papirnyk sydd wedi derbyn swydd rheolwr CPD Porthmadog yn dilyn ymddiswyddiad Gareth Parry. Symudodd y Bwrdd yn gyflym er mwyn osgoi unrhyw wagle ac er mwyn i’r rheolwr newydd gael y cyfle gorau posib i gadw’r garfan ifanc mae Gareth wedi bod yn adeiladu. Ymatebodd y cadeirydd Phil Jones yn llawn brwdfrydedd, “Rwy’n hapus iawn fod Craig wedi derbyn y gwahoddiad i gymryd yr awenau wrth Gareth a bydd y cyfan yn symud yn hwylus gan fod Craig yn adnabod y clwb yn dda, fel chwaraewr a hefyd fel hyfforddwr. Mae wedi cymryd at y swydd gyda brwdfrydedd mawr ac eisoes yn cynllunio ac yn cysylltu efo chwaraewyr a staff hyfforddi. Mae ymateb y garfan i’r apwyntiad wedi bod yn ardderchog, felly o ganol siom yn dilyn colli Gareth mae’r sefyllfa bellach yn dipyn fwy positif, sy’n awgrymu fod y penderfyniad cywir wedi’i wneud. “ Ymunodd Craig â Port yn Awst 2013 o’i glwb lleol yn Y Bermo. Er mai yng nghanol cae chwaraeodd yn bennaf y tymor diwethaf mae Craig yn flaenwr creadigol gyda ergyd bwerus. Dangosodd fod ganddo lygad am gôl wrth iddo sgorio yn yr amser ychwanegol a roi’r fuddugoliaeth i Port yng Nghwpan Cymru dros Trefynwy. Mae ei gyn glybiau hefyd yn cynnwys Y Bala a Rhuthun. Congratulations to Craig Papirnyk who will succeed Gareth Parry as Porthmadog FC manager. The Board have moved quickly to avoid any vacuum developing and to give the new manager the best possible chance to keep the talented young squad which Gareth has been building. Chairman Phil Jones said, “I am delighted that Craig has accepted our invitation to take over from Gareth as manager, as it will prove a smooth link as Craig knows the club well both as a player and also as player coach. He has taken to the post with real enthusiasm and is already planning and getting in touch with players and possible backroom staff. The initial response from the squad to the appointment has been tremendously positive so, from the huge disappointment of losing Gareth, we have moved quickly to a really positive situation which suggests the right decision has been made. Craig joined Porthmadog in August 2013 from his local club at Barmouth. Though he played mainly in a central midfield role last season he is a creative forward with a really powerful shot. He showed his eye for goal with his extra-time winner in the Welsh Cup tie against Monmouth Town. His previous clubs also include Bala Town and Ruthin Town. 11/05/14 Dydd elusennol DAVID SMITHIES / DAVID SMITHIES Charity Day Gweithred olaf Gareth Parry fel rheolwr CPD Porthmadog oedd i dderbyn gwahoddiad i gymryd rhan yn y Digwyddiad Elusennol Blynyddol i gofio David Smithies sydd i’w gynnal yn Nolgellau ar Sadwrn, 5 Gorffennaf. Bydd y clwb yn chwarae gêm gyfeillgar yn erbyn tîm dewisol Meirionnydd. Mae’r achlysur hwn er cof am y golwr 17 oed David Smithies a fu farw mewn damwain car ym mis Tachwedd 2006. Roedd David yn gyfaill i chwaraewr Port, sef Rob Evans, sydd wedi bod yn gysylltiedig â’r digwyddiad blynyddol hwn o’r dechrau ac mae’r achlysur dros y blynyddoedd wedi codi £30,000 tuag at elusennau. Bydd tîm Meirionnydd yn cynnwys chwaraewyr o glybiau Dolgellau, Tywyn Bryncrug, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Y Bermo, Penrhyndeudraeth, Llanuwchllyn a’r Bala ac hefyd un chwaraewr arbennig. Cewch fwy o fanylion yn agosach at y dyddiad. One of Gareth Parry’s last acts as Porthmadog FC manager was to accept an invitation to take part in the Annual David Smithies Charity Event at Dolgellau on the 5 July. They will play against a Meirionnydd Select team. The occasion is in memory of 17 year old goal keeper David Smithies who tragically died in car accident in November, 2006. David was a great friend of Porthmadog player Rob Evans who has always played a significant part in this annual event which has over the years raised £30,000 for charities. The Meirionnydd select team will include players from Dolgellau, Tywyn Bryncrug, Blaenau Amateurs, Barmouth FC, Penrhyndeudraeth, Llanuwchllyn and Bala as well as a guest player. More details will be announced nearer the date. 10/05/14 DYRCHAFIAD i ddau arall / PROMOTION for two more Sicrhaodd Llandrindod ddyrchafiad i’r HGA heddiw gyda buddugoliaeth o 3-1 dros Trefaldwyn. Nhw hefyd ydy pencampwyr Cynghrair y Canolbarth gyda un pwynt yn fwy na Llanfair. Yn ardal Wrecsam sicrhaodd Y Wyddgrug ddyrchafiad gyda buddugoliaeth o 6-1 dros Llangollen a hefyd y bencampwriaeth, ar y blaen i Benarlâg ar wahaniaeth goliau. Llongyfarchiadau i’r ddau glwb a fydd yn ymunoo gyda Dinbych yn yr HGA y tymor nesaf ac yn cymryd lle Llanrhaeadr a Penrhyncoch sydd yn mynd i lawr a'r Derwyddon sydd yn esgyn. Llandrindod sealed promotion to the HGA today with a 3-1 win over Montgomery Town. They will be promoted as champions of the Spar Mid-Wales League finishing a point ahead of second placed Llanfair United. In the Wrexham area Mold Alex secured promotion with today’s 6-1 win over Llangollen. They also took the league title ahead of Hawarden Rangers on goal difference. Congratulations to both clubs who will next season join Denbigh in the HGA replacing Llanrhaeadr and Penrhyncoch who are relegated and Cefn Druids who are promoted. 09/05/14 DIOLCH GARETH / THANKS GARETH Mae’r geiriau “... dymuna’r clwb osod ar gof a chadw eu gwerthfawrogiad ....” yn rhy aml yn cuddio’r gwrthwyneb. Yn achos Gareth Parry a CPD Porthmadog hynny ydy’r gwirionedd. Mae’r clwb yn llawn sylweddoli eu bod dros y 12 mlynedd diwethaf wedi derbyn gwasanaeth chwaraewr talentog, arweinydd ac, am y pedair mlynedd olaf, rheolwr ifanc ysbrydoledig. Mae cadeirydd y clwb Phil Jones yn hael ei ganmoliaeth i’w gyn rheolwr, “Fedrai yr un rheolwr rhoi mwy dros unrhyw glwb gyda’i ymroddiad bob amser yn gant y cant. Mae Gareth yn ddeallus iawn a defnyddiodd ei allu a’i dalentau i’r eithaf ar gyfer amrywiol dasgau rheoli clwb a bydd yn dipyn o dasg i gael hyd i rywun i lenwi ei sgidiau. Nid yw dweud diolch yn fawr yn ddigon o bell ffordd am y gwaith mae Gareth wedi cyflawni.” Ond mae’r clwb hefyd yn gwerthfawrogi fod gan bobl flaenoriaethau eraill a galwadau eraill yn mynnu eu hamser a pan mae Gareth yn dweud, “Pedair mlynedd ymlaen a dwy o genod hyfryd, galwadau gyrfaol cynyddol yn ogystal â gweithgareddau gwirfoddol eraill, mae bellach yn amhosib imi barhau i roi’r cyfan i fod yn rheolwr pêl-droed,” rhaid i’r clwb barchu ei benderfyniad. Gwelwn y math o sylw mae wedi rhoi i fanylion y swydd wrth iddo ddiolch i restr hir o unigolion, i gyd yn adnabyddus iddo ac i gyd yn falch i’w alw’n ffrind. Mae’r clwb yn gwerthfawrogi fod Gareth yn medru edrych yn ôl ar12 mlynedd hapus ar Y Traeth, yn llawn atgofion da. Sylweddolwn y parch sydd iddo ar lefel ehangach wrth yr ymateb ar y Trydar i’w ymddiswyddiad. Cychwynnodd Gareth yn y swydd wrth i Port golli eu lle yn UGC ac mae wedi gorfod goresgyn nifer o sialensiau anodd. Mae’r modd yr ail adeiladodd y garfan dros y tymor diwethaf wedi ennill edmygedd y cefnogwyr sydd hefyd yn rhannu teimladau Gareth fod “pleser mewn gweld yr hogiau yn chwarae pêl-droed pasio deniadol.” Dymunwn bopeth da i Gareth a’i deulu i’r dyfodol gan obeithio fydd amser yn caniatáu iddo unwaith eto ddefnyddio ei dalent amlwg fel hyfforddwr. Diolch Gareth. The words “... the club would like to place on record their appreciation ...” often conceal anything but that. But in the case of Gareth Parry and Porthmadog FC it is absolutely genuine. The club fully realise that for the past 12 years they have enjoyed the services of, in the first instance, a talented player and leader and then, for the past four years, an inspirational young manager. Chairman Phil Jones was full of praise for, by now, his former manager saying, “No manager could have given more for the club, his commitment and dedication to his role as manager were absolutely outstanding. He is a highly intelligent man who applied his many talents to the varied demands of being a football manager and he will certainly take some replacing. I cannot thank him enough for his work.” But the club also appreciates that individuals have other priorities and demands on their time and when Gareth says, “Four years on and with two beautiful girls, greater work demands, and other voluntary roles, it has become impossible for me to continue to put everything into the role,” however disappointing it is for Porthmadog FC the club has to respect the decision. His attention to detail is exemplified by the long list of individuals he thanks, all of them well known to him and they in turn glad to call him their friend. The club values the fact that Gareth can look back at his 12 years at the Traeth with so many good memories and so much pleasure. The regard in which he is widely held is reflected in the response the announcement of his resignation has had on ‘Twitter’ Gareth took over as manager following relegation from the WPL and has had to overcome several difficult periods. The way he re-built the squad over the past season has earned supporters’ admiration and they share his “pleasure from seeing the lads play attractive, passing football.” We wish Gareth and his family well in the future and, when time permits him, we will again follow with interest the continued development of this talented young coach. Thanks Gareth. 08/05/14 Gareth Parry yn ymddiswyddo / Gareth Parry steps down Mae CPD Porthmadog wedi derbyn ymddiswyddiad eu rheolwr Gareth Parry, a hynny gyda siomiant mawr. Parchu’r ei benderfyniad i ymadael am rhesymau teuluol a gyrfaol gan ddiolch iddo am y gwaith arbennig a gyflawnwyd ganddo. Dymunir yn dda i Gareth a’i deulu wrth edrych i’r dyfodol. Darllenwch ei ddatganiad yn llawn YMA. Porthmadog FC have with great regret had to accept Gareth Parry’s decision to step down from his role as manager of the club. The club respects his decision, taken for family and career reasons, to leave the club and thank him for an outstanding job done and wish him and his family well in the future. You can read Gareth’s full statement HERE. 02/05/14 CYFLE i PORT? / OPPORTUNITY for PORT? Mae Cymdeithas Pêl-droed Cymru wedi cyhoeddi cynllun newydd ar gyfer cystadlu yng Nghwpan Word y tymor nesaf. Bydd clybiau ychwanegol yn cael gwneud cais am un o 4 lle arbennig. Gwahoddir unrhyw glwb sydd a goleuadau i wneud cais erbyn 30 Mai. Meddai’r Gymdeithas gall y rheswm am wneud cais fod eich clwb yn dathlu carreg filltir benodol, neu wedi perfformio’n arwrol yn y Gynghrair neu’r Gwpan, neu y byddai chwarae yn y gystadleuaeth yn adfer hen elyniaeth. “Gwnewch gais ar gyfer eich clwb meddai’r Gymdeithas, gan gynnig rhesymau pan ddylech clwb chi gael ei ystyried ar gyfer y gystadleuaeth.” Cyhoeddi’r enwau’r 4 clwb llwyddiannus ar 7 Mehefin. Bydd 12 clwb o UGC yn cymryd rhan a 6 yr un o Gynghrair Cymru (y de) a Chynghrair Huws Gray. Dywedodd Andrew Howard, Pennaeth Cystadlaethau, ”Rwyf wrth fy modd gyda’r drefn newydd ac mae’n cynnig cyfle i unrhyw glwb wedi’i leoli yng Nghymru i gael rhan yn y gystadleuaeth.” Mae gwefan welsh-premier.com yn awgrymu’r canlynol, “Mae’r clybiau a fedrau gynnig am le yn cynnwys Treffynnon o’r Welsh Alliance, clwb a aeth drwodd i rownd gynderfynol Cwpan Cymru, a cyn glybiau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru fel Y Barri, Llanelli, Porthmadog a Ton Pentre. Rhywbeth i Port ystyried felly. The FAW has announced a new format for next season’s Word Cup. Clubs can apply for places in the competition as one of four ‘wildcard’ entries. Any club that believes that they should be considered can contact the FAW by Friday May 30 stating their reasons and staking their claim for one of the available places. "Is a club reaching a specific milestone this year? Has your team created waves in your League or Cup competition? Is there an old rivalry that you’d like to resurrect?" are reasons for consideration, says an FAW announcement. Each participating club must have floodlights at their home ground. The names of the four successful clubs will be announced on 7 June. The 12 WPL clubs will take part in the competition together with 6 Welsh League (south) clubs and 6 Huws Gray Alliance clubs. Andrew Howard FAW head of competitions says, “The innovation of four wildcards allows any clubs, geographically located in Wales, the opportunity to enter this new and exciting competition.” The welsh-premier,com website suggests as follows, “Clubs that might apply for a wildcard include Holywell Town of the Welsh Alliance, who became the first third tier club to reach the last four of the Welsh Cup this season, and former WPL outfits such as Barry Town, Llanelli, Porthmadog and Ton Pentre.” Something therefore for Port to ponder. 30/04/14 DYRCHAFU/Mynd i lawr / PROMOTION/Relegation Er fod y cynghreiriau bwydo yn dal heb orffen eu gemau mae eisoes wedi’i benderfynu y bydd y Derwyddon yn chwarae yn UGC y tymor nesaf a gan fod Hwlffordd heb sicrhau dyrchafiad bydd Prestatyn yn osgoi disgyn i’r Huws Gray. Hefyd oherwydd hyn dim ond dau glwb –Llanrhaeadr a Penrhyncoch- fydd yn disgyn allan o’r Huws Gray. Yn bendant bydd Dinbych, ar ôl tymor arbennig, yn cael eu dyrchafu o’r Welsh Alliance. Ond yng nghynghrair ardal Wrecsam mae gemau yn dal yn weddill. Gyda’r Wyddgrug yn edrych yn sicr o orffen o leiaf yn yr ail safle ac hefyd wedi pasio archwiliad i’w cae nhw sy’n debygol o ennill dyrchafiad. Yn y Canolbarth mae Llandrindod ar y blaen ac yn debygol o ennill dyrchafiad gan eu bod erbyn hyn hefyd wedi pasio archwiliad ar yr ail ymgais. Aberriw ydy’r unig glwb arall i basio archwiliad ond erbyn hyn wedi llithro tu ôl yn y ras am y teitl. Byddai dyrchafiad i Llandrindod yn golygu taith o 91 milltir o Borthmadog! With the feeder leagues still to finish their programmes the certainties so far are that Cefn Druids will be playing in the WPL next season and, with Haverfordwest unable to gain promotion, Prestatyn will avoid being relegated to the HGA. It also means that only two clubs will be relegated from the HGA –Llanrhaeadr and Penrhyncoch. Denbigh Town after a tremendous season will be promoted from the Welsh Alliance. There are however games remaining in the Wrexham area league but Mold Alex look certain to gain at least a second place finish and, as they have passed their ground inspection, they are likely to be promoted. The Spar Mid-Wales League Llandrindod seem the likely champions and they have now also passed the ground inspection at the 2nd attempt. Berriew, the only other club to pass the inspection, appear to have dropped too far behind in the title race. Promoting Llandrindod will mean a 91 mile journey from Porthmadog! 29/04/14 TREIALON ACADEMI 2014/15 / ACADEMY TRIALS 2014/15 Mae Academi CPD Porthmadog yn gwahodd chwaraewyr i dreialon ar gyfer tymor 2014/2015. Mae chwarae ar lefel academi yn gam i fyny, ac amcan yr Academi yw datblygu chwaraewyr addawol lleol. Mae’r Academi yn cael ei chymeradwyo’n flynyddol gan y FAW ac mae’n cydymffurfio a’u rheoliadau. Bydd disgwyl i’r chwaraewyr llwyddiannus fod ar gael i’w hyfforddi unwaith yr wythnos ac ar gyfer gemau cystadleuol/cyfeillgar sydd wedi eu trefnu gan yr FAW drwy’r tymor.(fel arfer ar Ddydd Sul) Cynhelir treialon yng Nghlwb Pêl Droed Porthmadog. *Cofiwch sicrhau fod gennych ddillad addas, digon o ddiod a ’shin pads’. Ar ddechrau Gorffennaf bydd Port yn ymweld a Llangefni i chwarae’r clwb sydd yn ail adeiladu wedi cyfnod siomedig ac ers haf 2013 wedi cael ‘cychwyn newydd’ a bellach yn chwarae yng Nghynghrair Ynys Môn. Ar 30 Gorffennaf bydd Port yn croesawu’r cymdogion Penrhyndeudraeth, clwb sydd wedi cael tymor arbennig yn 2013/14 ac yn bencampwyr Adran 2 o’r Welsh Alliance. Mae Gareth hefyd yn disgwyl clywed dyddiadau ar gyfer gemau yn erbyn Y Rhyl a’r Bala –y ddau glwb yma yn dal a nifer o gemau UGC yn weddill. Gareth Parry is busy organising the programme of pre-season friendlies and these are an addition to the game already announced, at home to Salford City on 9 August. At the beginning of July Port will visit Llangefni. The Anglesey club are rebuilding following a period of decline and their website says, “The summer of 2013 saw a revamp of the club, as it attempts to re-structure and implement a fresh start, bringing together the Llangefni community spirit which very much centres around football. “ They are now playing in the Anglesey League. On the 30 July Port will welcome neighbours Penrhyndeudraeth to the Traeth. Penrhyn have had a fine season in 2013/14 winning the Welsh Alliance Division 2. Gareth is also awaiting dates for games against Rhyl and Bala Town who are still to complete their current season’s programme. 26/04/14 RAFFL PASG / EASTER DRAW Isod gwelir rhestr o enillwyr Raffl Pasg CPD Porthmadog. Agorodd Darren Thomas y sgorio i Gaernarfon ar ôl 25 munud. Roedd yn dal yn 1-0 ar hanner amser ond yn gynnar yn yr ail hanner ychwanegodd Jordan Barrow ail gôl gyda ergyd o bellter. Ni gafwyd mwy o goliau tan dwy funud cyn y diwedd pan sgoriodd Ywain Gwynedd trydydd gôl Caernarfon a munud yn ddiweddarach daeth gôl gysur Lee Davey i Fflint. Cyflwynwyd y tlysau i’r chwaraewyr a’r swyddogion gan Is-lywydd oes Cynghrair Huws Gray, Bob Hatton, cyn i gapten Caernarfon, Grahame Austin, godi’r Cwpan a cychwyn y dathliadau. Caernarfon Town lifted the Huws Gray Cup at the Traeth this afternoon with a comfortable 3-1 victory. Darren Thomas opened the scoring for the Cofis after 25 minutes. It remained 1-0 at the interval but early in the second half Jordan Barrow doubled the lead with a shot from distance. There were no more goals until two minutes from time when Ywain Gwynedd added a third for Caernarfon and Lee Davey scored a consolation goal for Flint a minute later. Huws Gray League life vice president, Bob Hatton did the honours at the end presenting medals to both teams and officials and finally the Huws Gray Cup itself was lifted on high by skipper Grahame Austin. 24/04/14 Dyrchafiad i DDINBYCH / DENBIGH Promoted Gyda Dinbych yn curo Treffynnon heno o 4-1, sicrhaodd y clwb eu lle yn yr HGA ar gyfer y tymor nesaf. Llongyfarchiadau a chroeso nol. Bydd presenoldeb y tîm sydd wedi aros yn ddiguro drwy’r tymor hyd yma yn cryfhau’r Huws Gray Alliance. Hefyd mae ganddynt oleuadau a chyfleusterau da sydd yn beth arall i’w groesawu. Byddai cael Treffynnon yn y gynghrair hefyd yn gryfhau’r gynghrair ond yn anffodus dim ond un caiff ddod i fyny o’r Welsh Alliance. With Denbigh Town defeating Holywell by 4-1 tonight, the club have secured their place in the Huws Gray Alliance for next season. Congratulations and welcome back. The presence of the unbeaten club will undoubtedly strengthen the HGA. They also have floodlights and good facilities which is another plus to be welcomed. Having Holywell in the HGA would also have strengthened the league but unfortunately only one Welsh Alliance club can be promoted. 24/04/14 FFEINAL Cwpan Huws Gray / Huws Gray League Cup FINAL Bydd Ffeinal Cwpan Huws Gray yn cael ei chwarae ar Y Traeth pnawn Sadwrn, 26 Ebrill rhwng Caernarfon a Fflint. Caernarfon oedd y cyntaf i ennill eu lle yn y ffeinal gyda buddugoliaeth o 5-1 dros Rhydymwyn mewn gêm a chwaraewyd ym Maesdu, Llandudno. Y sgorwyr ar y noson i’r Cofis oedd Jordan Barrow –dwy gôl yn yr hanner cyntaf- gyda Cai Jones, Clive Williams a Kevin Roberts yn ychwanegu mwy o goliau yn yr ail hanner. Y Cofis fydd y ffefrynnau i godi’r cwpan ar ôl tymor llwyddiannus yn gorffen yn 3ydd yn y gynghrair tu ôl i’r Derwyddon a Conwy. Caernarfon enillodd y cwpan hwn yn 2001/02, gan guro’r Trallwng yn y ffeinal. Ei gwrthwynebwyr fydd Y Fflint a gurodd Llandudno yn y rownd cynderfynol wedi ciciau o’r smotyn. Roedd y ddau yn gyfartal 1-1 ar ôl 90 munud ac eto ar ddiwedd amser ychwanegol. Aeth Y Fflint drwodd o 3-1 ar y ciciau o’r smotyn. Y tro diwethaf i Fflint gyrraedd y ffeinal oedd yn 2009/10 a colli i Llandudno oedd eu hanes y tro yna. Yn y gemau cynghrair rhwng Caernarfon a Fflint y Cofis enillodd o 5-2 ar yr Oval a wedyn cyfartal 1-1 ar Cae y Castell. Er mai Caernarfon fydd y ffefrynnau, gêm gwpan ydy hon a ni allwn gymryd dim yn ganiataol. Un peth sydd yn sicr bydd y ffeinal yn cael eu chwarae ar y cae gorau yn y gynghrair!! This season’s Huws Gray League Cup Final will be played at the Traeth on Saturday, 26 April between Caernarfon Town and Flint Town United. Caernarfon Town were the first club to secure their place in the final with a 5-1 victory over Rhydymwyn in a semi-final played on Llandudno’s Maesdu Ground. The scorers on the night for the free scoring Cofis were Jordan Barrow, scoring twice in the opening half, with Cai Jones, Clive Williams and Kevin Roberts adding further goals in the second period. Having finished in third spot in the League behind champions Cefn Druids and Conwy Borough, the Gwynedd club must start favourites to win the Cup. The Cofis have previously lifted this trophy in 2001/02 when they beat Welshpool in the final. Their final opponents will be Flint Town United who needed penalties to put out Llandudno. The two teams were level 1-1 after 90 minutes and after extra-time. Flint however came out on top in the penalty shoot out by 3-1. Flint last reached the Final in 2009/10 when they were ironically beaten by Llandudno. In this season’s two league encounters between Flint and Caernarfon, the Cofis won comfortably by 5-2 at the Oval while at Cae y Castell the game ended 1-1. Though Caernarfon may start as favourites this is a Cup Final and nothing can be taken for granted. One thing is certain they will have the finest surface in the League to play the game! 19/04/14 Seithfed i Port / Port are Seventh Gorffen yn 7fed ydy hanes Port wrth i Cegidfa sicrhau dau bwynt o ddwy gêm gyfartal, un yng Nghaersws ganol wythnos a’r llall yng Nghaergybi heddiw. Roedd y gwahaniaeth rhwng y ddau glwb yn ychydig iawn wrth i Port a Chegidfa orffen ar 42 pwynt. Un gôl oedd yn gwahanu’r ddau, gyda Port a gwahaniaeth goliau o +2 a Cegidfa yn +3. Ond dyna ni mae un gôl yn ddigon a felly llongyfarchiadau i’r cyfeillion o’r canolbarth. Roedd y goliau yn hir yn cyrraedd yng Nghaergybi gyda’r clwb cartref yn rhwydo ar ôl 88 munud a Cegidfa yn dod yn gyfartal munud yn ddiweddarach! Roedd angen rhediad gwych at ddiwedd y tymor i ddod yn agos i orffen yn 6ed. Sicrhaodd y garfan mae Gareth Parry wedi ailadeiladu 15 pwynt o’r 21 posib gyda tair heb golli gôl. Mae hyn yn rhoi digon o achos am optimistiaeth ac os ellir cadw’r garfan bresennol ac efallai ychwanegu ambell un; gall rhoi sialens ar y brig yn ôl ar ein agenda. Cofiwch fod wyth o’r garfan bresennol o dan 23 oed. It’s a 7th place league finish for Port after Guilsfield secured two points from their midweek game at Caersws and again today at Holyhead. It was by the smallest of margins with both Port and Guilsfield on 42 points. A single goal separated the two clubs with Port having a +2 goal difference and Guilsfield +3. But there we go one goal is enough so congratulations to our friends from mid Wales. In today’s game at Holyhead the goals were very late arriving with the home team going ahead in the 88th minute and Guilsfield drawing level a minute later! It took a great late 7 game unbeaten run by Gareth Parry’s re-built squad to challenge for 6th place. They collected 15 points out of a possible 21 and produced three clean sheets. All of this gives cause for optimism and if the current squad can be retained and even added to; mounting a serious challenge is back on the agenda. It is well worth noting that eight of the current squad are under the age of 23. 16/04/14 Contract Proffesiynol i GETHIN / Pro-contract for GETHIN Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Gethin Jones a fu gyda CPD Porthmadog yn chwaraewr ifanc iawn wrth iddo dderbyn contract proffesiynol gyda Everton. Camp fawr ydy cael cynnig o’r fath gyda un 5 clwb mwyaf Uwch Gynghrair Lloegr. Rwan yn 18 oed bu Gethin gyda Academi Everton ers oedd o’n 12 oed ac mae wedi cynrychioli ac hefyd yn gapten ar dîm Cymru Dan16, Dan17 a Dan 18. Pob dymuniad da am fwy o lwyddiant yn y dyfodol. Congratulations to former Porthmadog FC youngster Gethin Jones who has been offered a professional contract by Everton FC. This is an outstanding achievement to be offered a contract by one of Premier League’s top five clubs. Gethin now 18 years old has been at the Everton Academy since the age of 12 and has represented and captained Wales at U16, U17 and U18. We wish him all the best in the future. 12/04/14 Dwy wobr i EILIR / EILIR takes two Roedd y cefnogwyr a’r chwaraewyr yn gytûn mai Eilir Edwards oedd Chwaraewr y Tymor am 2013/14. Anaml iawn mae ‘run chwaraewr yn cipio’r ddau ond mae’n gydnabyddiaeth o gyfraniad arbennig Eilir y tymor hwn a fo ydy Chwaraewr y Tymor y Chwaraewyr a Chwaraewr y Tymor y Cefnogwyr. Asgellwr chwith oedd Eilir i gychwyn ond bellach wedi symud i ganol cae lle mae ei rhedeg diflino wedi bod yn gyfraniad mawr. Yn dda ar y bêl ac yn pasio’n dreiddgar tra hefyd yn sgorio ambell gôl. Daeth y gorau o rhain ym Mwcle lle sgoriodd gôl arbennig o’r llinell ar yr asgell chwith. Llongyfarchiadau i Carl Owen prif sgoriwr y tymor gyda 13 o goliau. Bu hwn yn dymor arbennig i Carl yn dod yn ôl ar ôl methu dau dymor wedi iddo dderbyn anaf a allai fod wedi gorffen ei yrfa. Unwaith eto mae Carl wedi bod yn allweddol i Port ac er iddo chwarae mewn rôl ychydig yn ddyfnach nac yn ei gyfnod blaenorol gyda’r clwb mae’n dal i sgorio. Gwobr newydd y tymor hwn ydy’r chwaraewr a’r cyfraniad mwyaf i’r clwb ym marn y rheolwyr ac mae Gareth Parry a Matthew Bishop wedi enwi chwaraewr a gyfrannodd ar y cae ac yn yr ymarfer. Sylw Gareth oedd fod y chwaraewr yma ddim yn symud llawer ar y cae ac efallai nad ydy cefnogwyr wedi sylwi llawer arno. Ond mewn gwirionedd mae cefnogwyr yn ymwybodol iawn o allu Ceri i gael hyd i le a chyfeirio o ganol cae. Llongyfarchiadau i’r tri. Supporters and players were agreed that Eilir Edwards was Player of the Season for 2013/14. It is very rare for the same player to take both awards but it is an acknowledgement of Eilir’s outstanding contribution that he has been named both Players’ Player of the Season and Supporters’ Player of the Season. He started as a wide left sided player but during the season was switched to a more midfield role where his tremendous work rate has served the club so well. Good on the ball he possesses a telling pass, whilst in addition chipping in with five goals the most memorable of which was his fantastic shot at Buckley from the left touchline. Congratulations to Carl Owen who was the club’s top scorer with 13 goals. This has been a remarkable comeback season for Carl after two seasons on the sidelines having suffered a career threatening injury. Carl has been a key player again for Port but currently in a slightly deeper role than during his first spell at the Traeth but this has not prevented him from scoring goals. This year there was the new award of the Management’s Player of the Season where Gareth Parry and Matthew Bishop nominated a player for his important contribution during matches and also during training. Gareth commented that as the player in question did not move around a great deal so supporters might not have noticed him. But in truth supporters are well aware of Ceri James’s ability to always find space and direct operations from midfield. Congratulations to all three. |
