31/08/04 Cwpan y Gynghrair / League Cup Yn dilyn eu buddugoliaeth o 2-0 yn erbyn Airbus UK (7-1 dros y ddau gymal), y Trallwng fydd gwrthwynebwyr Port yn rownd gyntaf Cwpan y Gynghrair. Nid yw dyddiad y gem wedi ei gadarnhau eto. Following their 2-0 victory over Airbus UK (7-1 over the two legs), Welshpool Town will be Port's opponents in the first round of the League Cup. The date of this game is yet to be confirmed. 25/08/04 Yn y Wasg / In the Press. A welsoch yr adroddiad yn y Wales on Sunday –Afan Lido yn erbyn Port? Rhag ofn ichi fethu’r gampwaith dyma ddyfyniad neu ddau; Did you read the Wales on Sunday report on the Afan Lido v Port game? Just in case you missed it here are some of the “unbiased” comments which were served up: ‘…this one-side game that Afan Lido dominated.’ ‘.. perhaps the explanation for Porthmadog’s submissive performance lay in the humiliation of having to play with their shirts inside out.’ ‘Lido should have been two up in 10 minutes.’ ‘It took Port 52 minutes to get a shot on target…..’ Roedd gwaeth i ddod yn y Western Mail fore Llun pan fynegodd rheolwr Lido, Mark Roberts ei farn: Worse was to come in the Western Mail on Monday when Lido manager Mark Robinson aired his views: “Porthmadog led a charmed life. We missed chance after chance, rattled the woodwork several times and should have won comfortably. It should have been 4-0 at half-time …” “Not to be tested and nearly lose is very disappointing …” Tybed beth ydy barn cefnogwyr Port a welodd y gêm? I wonder if Port supporters present recognise the above as the game which they saw. 24/08/04 Owain Roberts. Bydd Owain Roberts ar gael am y tro cyntaf i Port yn y gêm yn erbyn Bangor ddydd Sadwrn. Roedd Roberts wedi ei wahardd am y ddwy gem gyntaf – gwaharddiad oedd wedi ei gario drosodd o’r tymor diwethaf pan roedd yn chwarae i Rhuthun yn y Cymru Ailliance. Roedd perfformiadau Roberts yng nghanol cael yn ystod y gemau cyn-dymor yn addawol iawn, a bydd ei bresenoldeb yn cryfhau’r garfan. Owain Roberts will be available for selection for the first time in Saturday’s game against Bangor. He was serving a suspension during the first two matches - a suspension carried over from last season where he played for Rhuthun in the Cymru Alliance. Roberts made some very promising performances in midfield during the pre-season friendlies, and his presence will strengthen the squad. 26/07/04 Gem Mansfield wedi'i chanslo. / Mansfield Match Cancelled. Mae'r gem yn erbyn Mansfield, oedd fod i gael ei chwarae yr wythnos hon, wedi cael ei chanslo. Mae'n bosib bydd y gem yn cael ei hail drefnu ond nid oes unrhyw benderfynniad wedi bod hyd yn hyn. The game against Mansfield, that was due to be played this week, has been cancelled. There is a possibility that the game will be rescheduled, but no decision has been made as yet. 14/07/04 Cwpan Her Loosemores. / Loosemores Challenge Cup. Mae'r enwau wedi eu tynnu o'r het ar gyfer rownd ragbrofol a rownd gyntaf Cwpan Her Cyfreithwyr Loosemores. Yn ffodus, bydd dim rhaid i Port chwarae yn y rownd ragbrofol. Ei gwrthwynebwyr yn y rownd gyntaf fydd enillwyr y frwydr ragbrofol rhwng y Trallwng a'r newydd-ddyfodiad Airbus UK. Bydd y gêm ar y Traeth yn cael ei chwarae yn ystod yr wythnos sy'n dechrau ar Awst 30. The draw has been made for the preliminary round and the first round of the Loosemores Solicitors Challenge Cup. Luckily, Port won't have to compete in the preliminary round. Their opponents in the first round will be the victors of the preliminary tussle between Welshpool and new-boys Airbus UK. The tie at y Traeth will be played during the week commencing, August 30. 10/07/04 Newid i'r gemau cyn-dymor. / Change to pre-season matches. Mae newid wedi bod yn lleoliad dwy o'r gemau cyn-dymor. Bydd y gem yn erbyn Challon Lodge rwan yn cael ei chwarae yn Llanerchymedd ar yr un pnawn a gem yr ail dim yn erbyn y clwb o Ynys Mon. Mae'r gem yn erbyn Llanfairpwll wedi cael ei symud o'r Traeth i Lanfairpwll er mwyn i waith gael ei wneud ar y Traeth cyn y tymor newydd. The venues for two of Port's pre-season matches have changed. The game againts Challon Lodge will now be played at Llanerchymedd on the same afternoon as the reserves' visit to the Ynys Mon club. The game against Llanfairpwll has been switched from the Traeth to Llanfairpwll to allow work to be carried out on the Traeth before the new season. 01/07/04 Newyddion y Tim / Team News. Mae carfan Port wedi dychwelyd i'r cae ymarfer heddiw, gyda holl garfan y llynedd wedi ailarwyddo ar gyfer y tymor newydd. Mae'r amddiffynnwr ifanc Jon Peris Jones, a ymddangosodd yn ystod y tymor diwethaf, wedi cael ei ddyrchafu o'r ail dim i'r tîm cyntaf. Hefyd mae Viv yn gobeithio ychwanegu un neu ddau o chwaraewyr eraill er mwyn cryfhau'r garfan, gan gynnwys y chwaraewr canol cae Owen Roberts o Rhuthun. Mae Viv hefyd wedi bod yn trafod gydag ymosodwr ifanc sydd a phrofiad o chwarae yn y Gynghrair Genedlaethol. Gyda nifer fawr o gerbydau eisoes wedi cael eu cofrestru i fod yn bresennol yn y Rali mae’n debyg bydd digwyddiad eleni hyd yn oed yn fwy na llynedd. Rhai o’r atyniadau ychwanegol eleni fydd lle chwarae i’r plant a stondin crefft a chynnyrch yn y Marci. Bydd y cyfan yn dechrau am 10.30am. Os oes diddordeb gennych mewn dod â’ch car, cysylltwch â Gerallt Owen ar 07881 742600. Porthmadog Football Club are holding their second annual Vintage Car Rally at Y Traeth on Saturday July 3rd 2004. With a host of vehicles already book to attend the rally it looks as if this years event will be even bigger than last year. Improvement this year include a children's fun area and a craft and produce area in the marquee. The event will start at 10.30am and anyone interested in entering a car should contact Gerallt Owen on 07881 742600. 27/05/04 Tîm Arfordir y Gogledd / North Wales Coast team. Mae dau o chwaraewyr Port wedi cael eu henwi yng ngharfan FA Arfordir y Gogledd ar gyfer y gêm flynyddol yn erbyn Tîm 'Non-League' yr Alban. Mae Gerard McGuigan yn y garfan unwaith eto ar ôl chwarae'n dda mewn gêm gyfeillgar yn erbyn Crewe yn gynharach eleni pan enillodd tîm Arfordir y Gogledd 2-0. Mae Ryan Davies hefyd wedi ei gynnwys yn y garfan o 17. Two Port players have been named in the North Wales Coast FA squad for the annual match against the Scottish Non-league Association. Gerard McGuigan is in the squad once again after playing well in a friendly match against Crewe earlier this year when the North Wales Coast side won 2-0. Ryan Davies has also been included in the 17 man squad. 25/05/04 Da Iawn Carlo / Congrats Carlo Llongyfarchiadau i Carl Owen am ei ran yn ymgyrch lwyddiannus Cymru yng Nhlws y Pedwar Gwlad i chwaraewyr o gynghreiriau rhan amser. Dechreuodd Carl yn y gêm agoriadol yn erbyn yr Alban a orffennodd yn gyfartal 0-0, a llwyddodd i sgorio yn ei ail gêm yn erbyn Lloegr ar ôl dod ymlaen fel eilydd yn yr ail hanner. Helpodd ei gôl i roi buddugoliaeth 2-0 i Gymru yn erbyn yr hen elyn, ond yn anffodus bu’n rhaid iddo ddod i ffwrdd o’r cae yn dilyn anaf. Yn anffodus roedd hyn yn golygu bod yn rhaid iddo fethu’r gêm olaf yn erbyn Gweriniaeth Iwerddon. Enillodd Cymru y gêm honno yn gyfforddus 4-1 er mwyn codi’r gwpan am yr ail dro mewn pedair blynedd. Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Carl a gweddill y hogia! Congratulations to Carl Owen on his part in Wales’ successful campaign in the Four Nations Trophy for players from part-time leagues. Carl started in Wales’ 0-0 draw with Scotland in the opening match, and managed to score in the second game against England after coming on the pitch in the second half. His goal helped give Wales a 2-0 victory against the old enemy, but unfortunately he had to limp off the pitch after an injury. Unfortunately this meant he had to miss the last game against the Republic of Ireland. Wales comfortably won that match 4-1 to lift the trophy for the second time in three years. Well done Carl and the rest of the lads! 17/05/04 Cynghrair Chwarae Teg / Fair Play League Llongyfarchiadau i'r tim cyntaf ar ennill Cyngrhair Chwarae Teg Uwchgyngrhair Cymru gyda 134 o bwyntiau cosb. TNS orfenodd yn yr ail safle. Mae'r wobr hon yn deyrnged i hunan ddisgyblaeth y chwaraewyr a hefyd i'r arweiniad pendant a gafwyd gan y rheolwr, Viv Williams a'r hyfforddwr Osian Roberts. Congratulations are very much in order to the first team on winning the Welsh Premier Fair Play League with a tally of 134 penalty points. In runners-up spot were TNS. This award is a tribute to the self-discipline of the players and also to the leadership of the manager Viv Williams and the coach Osian Roberts. 14/05/04 Cymru v Norwy / Wales v Norway Cynhaliwyd gêm rhyngwladol dan-19 o flaen torf dda ar y Traeth nos Iau. Y gwrthwynebwyr o’r Norwy oedd yn fuddugol o ddwy gôl i ddim, ond roedd perfformiad Cymru yn addawol iawn. Oni bai am gôl agoriadol lwcus iawn i’r Norwy yn dilyn camgymeriad yn yr hanner cyntaf gallai pethau wedi bod yn wahanol iawn. Fel eu tîm llawn, ar amddiffyn ag hogiau tal yn y cefn oedd prif bwyslais y gwrthwynebwyr, ac roedd y tactegau hyn yn llwyddiannus ar y noson wrth i Gymru fethu troi eu pwysau a’u chwarae ymosodol i goliau. An under-19 international was held in front of a good crowd at y Traeth on Thursday night. Despite a two-nil victory to the visitors from Norway, Wales’ performance was very encouraging. If it hadn’t been for Norway’s extremely lucky opening goal following a mistake in the first half, things could have been very different. Like their full national side, the visitor’s set out their stall to defend and make use of the tall lads in the back, and these tactics proved successful on the night as Wales failed to convert pressure and attacking play into goals. 30/04/04 Carl yn y tim cenedlaethol / Carl gets international call up Yn dilyn perfformiadau cadarn dros y tymor, mae Carl Owen wedi cael ei gynnwys yn nhim 'lled-broffesiynnol' cenedlaethol Cymru. Llongyfarchiadau mawr Carl a phob lwc am y gem! Following strong performances throughout the season, Carl Owen has been included in the Wales 'semi-pro' team. Congratulations Carl and all the best for the game! 30/04/04 Da Iawn Ged! / Well Done Ged! Bu Gerard McGuigan ar ben ei gem i Port yn ddiweddar ac mae wedi cael ei ddewis i chwarae i dîm Arfordir Gogledd Cymru yn erbyn tîm o is gyngrheiriau’r Alban. Fel rhan o’r paratoad ar gyfer y gem flynyddol hon bu hogiau’r arfordir yn chwarae yn erbyn Crewe Alexandra. Roedd tîm Crewe yn cynnwys naw o chwaraewyr o’r tîm cyntaf. Sgoriodd Paul Gedman(Bangor) y ddwy gôl ym muddugoliaeth tîm yr Arfordir ac ar ôl ond chwe munud o’r gem arbedodd Ged gic o’r smotyn. Llongyfarchiadau iddo. Gerard McGuigan has been in outstanding form for Port in recent matches and well deserves his selection for the North Wales Coast squad to meet the Scottish Non-League in their annual fixture to be played on May 22nd. As part of their preparation they played a friendly against a strong Crewe Alexandra team which included nine of the first team squad. Two goals by Paul Gedman(Bangor) gave the Coast squad an excellent win and Ged played his part with a penalty stop after only six minutes. 30/04/04 Gwobrau'r Tymor / Season's Awards. Llongyfarchiadau i John Gwynfor sydd wedi ei ddewis yn Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn y Chwaraewyr gan dderbyn ychydig o dan 50% o’r pleidleisiau. Fel dywed Viv yn ei golofn yn y rhaglen “Does dim yn well i chwaraewr na cael eich dewis gan eich cyd-chwaraewyr”. Disgrifia Viv ef fel ‘Mr Cyson’ a dyna ddywed pawb sydd wedi ei weld yn chwarae eleni. Dechreuodd pob gem –32 yn y gyngrhair, un yng Nghwpan Cymru a pedair yng Nghwpan y Gyngrhair. Mae hyn yn dystiolaeth glir o’i ffitrwydd chwedlonol a’i ddyfalbarhad. Ar ddechrau’r tymor mynegodd ambell un amheuaeth am ei allu i gamu i’r Gyngrhair Genedlaethol. Ie mae yna sawl proffwyd go sal o gwmpas! Cychwynodd y tymor gyda gôl brin yn erbyn Cei Conna a gorffennodd gyda pherfformiad gwych yn erbyn y pencampwyr Rhyl. Aeth gwobr Dyn Clwb y flwyddyn i Campbell Harrison a dywed Viv amdano “er nad yw wedi ymddangos ar y cae llawer eleni bu yn gymeriad enfawr yn yr ystafell newid and yn ddylanwad cry’ wrth adeiladu ysbryd a chyd-dynnu yn y tîm.” Ymddangosodd fel blaenwr yn hwyr mewn ambell gem at ddiwedd y tymor ac er na lwyddodd i ail adrodd ‘gol y ganrif’ a sgoriodd yn erbyn Bae Colwyn y tymor diwethaf fe gafodd un o ddwy lathen i gol Caersws! Congratulations to John Gwynfor who has been voted Players Player of the Year with just under 50% of the votes and as Viv comments in his programme column “there is no better award for a player” than to be commended by his teamates. Viv describes him as “Mr Consistent” and so say all who have watched him on a regular basis this season. He has started in every game –32 league games, once in the Welsh Cup and 4 League Cup appearances and was not substituted in any of these games. This is a clear testimony to his fitness and dedication. At the start of the season there were those who questioned whether he would he would make the grade at Welsh Premier level. How wrong can you be? He started the season with a rare goal at Connah’s Quay and finished the season with a top quality performance against the champions Rhyl. Clubman of the Year. This award goes to Campbell Harrison of whom Viv says “despite not playing all that much this term has been a massive character in the dressing-room and a big help in building team spirit and togetherness”. He has appeared late on, recently, as a striker and though not quite emulating the ‘goal of the century’ at Colwyn Bay last season he did mange a tap in against Caersws! 30/04/04 Awdit yr Academi / Academy Audit. Yn ddiweddar cwblhaodd Academi Pel-droed Porthmadog ei hail awdit llwyddianus gan Ymddiriedoaeth y Gymdeithas Bel-droed. Dim ond ers Tachwedd 2003 bu’r academi yn weithredol ond roedd Rob Sherman, swyddog yr ymddiriedolaeth, yn hapus iawn gyda’r safonau a gyrhaeddwyd gan ddod o sefyllfa lle nad oedd strwythur, hyfforddwyr nag offer a hynny dim ond ond ychydig fisoedd yn ôl. Mae llawer o’r clod yn ddyledus i’r brif hyfforddwr Steven Paul Williams, y ddau hyfforddwr grwpiau oed, Tony Williams a Steve Griffiths a’u cynorthwywyr Mike Foster a Bari Griffiths, y ddau hyfforddwr golgeidwaid Richard Harvey a Darren Coats ynghyd a’r Swyddog Lles Barry Edwards.Maent i gyd wedi gweithio yn hynod o galed i sicrhau fod pob dim yn rhedeg yn llwyddianus ac fel canlyniad bydd yr Academi yn gymwys i dderbyn ail rhan y grant oddi wrth UEFA. Bu rhwng 50 a 60 o ieuenctid yn dod yn rheolaidd i’r nosweithiau hyfforddi. Eisioes mae tri chwaraewr wedi ymddangos i’r trydydd tîm: Steve Jones, Carwyn Edwards a Mark Cook. Mae Carwyn Edwards wedi sgorio’n gyson a hefyd wedi ymddangos, ar dro, i’r ail dîm tra fod Mark Cook wedi sgorio pedair gôl mewn ond tair gem. The Porthmadog Football Academy has recently successfully completed a second FAW Trust audit. The Academy has only been in operation since November 3rd 2003 and passed the audit with flying colours. The Trust auditor, Rob Sherman was pleased with the standards achieved in view of the fact that 12 months ago the club had nothing in the way of infrastructure, coaches or equipment. A great deal of the credit must go to the lead coach Steven Paul Williams, the age group coaches Tony Williams and Steve Griffiths, their assistants Mike Foster and Bari Griffiths and the goalkeeping coaches Richard Harvey and Darren Coats as well as Welfare Officer Barry Edwards all of whom have worked very hard to get the Academy up and running smoothly in such a short period of time. Following the successful audit the Academy will now be eligible for the second part of it’s UEFA grant. Between 50 and 60 youngsters now regularly attend the Academy. Three young players have already made appearances for the thirds : Steve Jones, Carwyn Edwards and Mark Cook. Carwyn Edwards has been a frequent goalscorer and has also appeared for the reserves, while Mark Cook has scored 4 times in three appearances. |
