Rhagolwg / Preview: CPD Penrhyncoch

Noddwr/Sponsor: Tanronnen Inn, Beddgelert
Pnawn Sadwrn byddwn yn croesawu Penrhyncoch i’r Traeth. Ar hyn o bryd mae’r clwb o’r canolbarth yn 11eg yn y tabl 4 pwynt tu ôl i Port. Rheolwr y clwb ydy Gari Lewis, cyn chwaraewr Aberystwyth, sydd wedi sicrhau fod y clwb yn un cystadleuol efo’r ysbryd i osod sialens i unrhyw glwb, gartref neu oddi cartref.
Penrhyncoch cafodd y gorau o’r gemau rhyngddom y tymor diwethaf. Ar y Traeth roedd angen gôl hwyr iawn gan iddon Price i sicrhau pwynt ar ôl i Port gael dipyn o drafferth i agor amddiffyn cadarn. Pan gyfarfu’r ddau yng ngêm olaf y tymor diwethaf roedd angen pwyntiau ar Penrhyn i sicrhau eu lle yn y Gynghrair a nhw aeth a hi ar y dydd. Mae cysylltiad agos wedi bod rhwng Penrhyn a’i brawd mawr Aberystwyth gyda nifer o chwaraewyr wedi symud o un i’r llall. Yn y garfan bresennol mae Sion James, Antonio Corbisiero a Sion Meredith yn gyn chwaraewyr i Aber. Yn ddiweddar mae Cledan Davies wedi ymuno, ac mae ganddo flynyddoedd o brofiad yn UGC dros Aber.
Mae eu record y tymor hwn yn cynnwys rhannu’r pwyntiau gyda’r Rhyl a’r Fflint a buddugoliaethau dros Gresffordd, Caersws a Chaergybi. Y penwythnos diwethaf sicrhaodd y clwb le yn 3ydd Rownd Cwpan Cymru gyda buddugoliaeth o 4-2 dros Caerffili.
Bydd Port yn edrych i fwrw ‘mlaen â’r rhediad diguro diweddar ar Y Traeth. Hon fydd eu 5ed gêm gartref yn olynol ac yn y bedair cynt maent wedi sgorio 24 o goliau ac ildio on dwy ac hefyd tair gêm heb ildio gôl. Gobeithio y byddant yn medru defnyddio’r hyder sydd yn dod o hyn a cael rhediad yn y Gynghrair. Cmon Port!

On Saturday we will welcome Penrhyncoch to the Traeth. The mid-Wales club are currently in 11th place in a crowded mid-table and four points behind Port. Managed by former Aberystwyth Town midfielder Gari Lewis they have always been a highly competitive team capable of testing the best at home or away.
The mid-Wales club got the better of last season’s encounters. In the corresponding game at the Traeth Port needed a very late equaliser from Iddon Price to salvage a point after finding a well organised Penrhyncoch defence difficult to break down. The two clubs met at Penrhyncoch in the final game of last season. This was a game which the Ceredigion club needed to win to ensure safety from relegation, and this is what they achieved. There has always been a close connection between Penrhyncoch and their big brother neighbours Aberystwyth, with players moving in both directions. Bringing experience to the current Penrhyncoch line-up are former Seasiders Sion James, Antonio Corbisiero and Sion Meredith -who also played for Port. A recent addition from Aberystwyth is Cledan Davies who is a defender with years of experience at WPL level and is an excllent addition to the squad.
Their record this season includes a share of the points with both Rhyl and Flint whilst they have recorded wins over Gresford Athletic, Caersws and Holyhead Hotspurs. Last weekend they progressed to 3rd Round of the JD Welsh Cup with a 4-2 win away at Caerphilly Athletic.
Port will be looking to continue their current unbeaten run of form at the Traeth. This will be their 5th consecutive home fixture and in the previous four they have scored 24 goals, conceding only two and having kept three clean sheets. Can they now use the confidence which has built up for the sterner tests of the League? C’mon Port!

Lle mae Panteg? / Some Panteg Info

Mae nifer o gefnogwyr wedi bod yn gofyn am fwy o wybodaeth ynglyn â Panteg ein gwrthwynebwyr yn Rownd 3 o Gwpan Cymru. Gan fod nifer o bentrefi yng Nghymru â’r enw Panteg felly dewch inni geisio ateb y cwestiwn am leoliad y Panteg hwn.Lleolir y clwb yn Griffithstown sydd ger Pontypwl yng Nghwent. Mae’r clwb yn chwarae eu gemau cartref ar gaeau chwarae Tÿ Panteg.
Mae Panteg yn chwarae yn 3ydd Adran Cynghrair Cymru (y De). Ar hyn o bryd maent yn y 12ed safle yn y tabl ond gyda nifer o gemau mewn llaw.
Pwynt diddorol ydy mai y chwaraewr rhyngwladol Danny Gabbidon oedd un o’r ddau a dynnodd yr enwau o’r het ar gyfer Rownd 3 ac hefyd wedi chwarae i Panteg yn 2015 tua diwedd ei yrfa. Mae ei frawd David yn dal i chwarae i’r clwb.
Yn barod mae Panteg wedi ennill 4 gêm i gyrraedd Rownd 3. Yn y ddwy gêm gymhwyso curwyd Newport City a wedyn Llwydcoed, tra yn y Rownd 1af curo Y Fenni ac yn Rownd 2 creu sioc fawr wrth guro Ton Pentre, clwb dwy adran yn uwch.

Some supporters have asked for more information regarding Panteg FC, our opponents in Welsh Cup Round 3. There is more than one Panteg in Wales but this one is based in Griffithstown near Pontypool in Gwent. The club play their home games at the Panteg House Sportsgrounds.
Panteg FC play in Division 3 of the Welsh League (south) and currently are in 12th place in the tablebut have a number of games in hand to be played.
An interesting point regarding the draw is that Wales international Danny Gabbidon was one of the guests who drew out the clubs. Now Danny is a local boy to the Panteg area and in 2015, towards the end of his career, played for the club. His brother, David, also plays for Panteg.
To reach Round 3 of the Welsh Cup, Panteg have already won four games. In the two Qualifiers they defeated first Newport City and then AFC Llwydcoed. In Round 1 they beat Abergavenny Town and then in Round 2 they caused the upset of the round beating Ton Pentre, two divisions above them, by 2-1.

Newyddion trist am FC Penley / Sad news of FC Penley

Gyda cymysgedd o sioc a thristwch derbyniodd clwb Porthmadog y newyddion fod FC Penley wedi gorfod dirwyn y clwb i ben, Gwnaeth ein gwrthwynebwyr o’r Sadwrn diwethaf y datganiad canlynol:
“Yn anffodus rhaid imi rhyddhau y newyddion trist fod FCP wedi dod i ben a hynny yn syth. Pob lwc i holl glybiau’r WNL.”
Golyga’r datganiad byr hwn mai y gêm ar Y Traeth yng Nghwpan Cymru oedd yr olaf yn eu hanes presennol. Mae’n drist meddwl mai’r diwrnod y cyrhaeddon nhw Rownd 2 o Gwpan Cymru am y tro cyntaf yn eu hanes hefyd oedd eu gêm olaf. Mae clwb Penley wedi gwneud argraff arbennig ar bawb ar Y Traeth am eu parodrwydd i frwydro a dal ati gan chwarae gyda ysbryd i’w edmygu.
Ein gobaith yw y bydd rhywun arall ar rhyw adeg yn codi’r baton ac ail godi clwb Penley. Heb wybod y stori tu ôl i’r datganiad mae’n sefyllfa sy’n rybudd i bob clwb sy’n ddibynnol ar rhy ychydig o wirfoddolwyr brwd, gall hyn hefyd ddigwydd i ni a chi.

It was with a mixture of shock and sadness that our club received the news today of FC Penley’s decision to call it a day. Our opponents of last Saturday made the following announcement:
“Unfortunately I have to announce the sad news that FCP have folded with immediate effect. Good luck to all the clubs in the WNL.”
That short statement means that the last game of FC Penley’s current history was played out on the Traeth. It is sad that a day where they reached Round 2 of the Welsh Cup for their first time in their history should also prove to be their last. FC Penley made a lasting impression on Port supporters for the way they battled and stuck to their task and played with such admirable spirit.
All at our club trust that somone else, at some stage, will pick up the baton and revive football at Penley. Without knowing the background the situation FC Penley have found themselves in is a reminder to all clubs who rely on too few hard working volunteers that this could also happen to us and to them.

UN yn fwy i’r hogia Dan18 / U18s outscore their seniors

Mewn penwythnos o goliau, goliau a fwy o goliau llwyddodd y tîm Dan 18 i fynd un yn well na’r tîm hÿn wrth guro Bae Penrhyn o 11-0 ar gae 3G Maedu, Llandudno. Ar ddechrau’r pnawn roedd y Bae wedi ennill eu dwy gêm yng Nghynghrair Dyffryn Clwyd a Port 4 gêm ond mae’r fuddugoliaeth yn ymestyn rhediad Port i 5 gêm ac yn cadarnhau eu safle ar frig y tabl.
Aeth Port ar y blaen ar ôl 8 munud gyda Cai Henshaw yn rhwydo i gornel isa’r gôl. Ychwanegodd Reece Evans yr ail yn cyd chwarae’n dda efo Math Roberts. Creodd Rhys Hughes agoriadau am ddwy gôl arall, un gyntaf Sion Roberts ac ail un i Reece Evans. Rhwydodd Sion Roberts eto cyn i Math Roberts ei gwneud yn 6-0 ar yr hanner. Arbedwyd cic Math o’r smotyn ond rhwydodd ar yr ail gyfle.
Tri munud fewn i’r ail hanner sgoriodd y cre?r Rhys Hughes gyda help Reece Evans. Ar 61 munud cwblhaodd Sion Roberts ei hatric a wedyn ychwanegu pedwerydd 13 munud yn ddiweddarach. Erbyn hyn roedd yn 9-0 a cwblhawyd y sgorio gyda goliau gan Elis Thomas a Rhys Gough i sicrhau fod Port yn glir ar frig y tabl.
Diolch i’r Academi am y Trydaru.

In a weekend goal blitz the U18s went one better than the senior squad when they found the net 11 times against Penrhyn Bay at Llandudno’s Maesdu Ground this afternoon. At the start of the afternoon the Bay had won the two fixtures they had played in the Vale of Clwyd Youth League while Port had won all four of their league games. A runaway win stretches the Port lead at the top of the table.
It took Port just 8 minutes to go ahead with Cai Henshaw netting into the bottom corner. Reece Evans added a second after combining well with Math Roberts, Two assists from Rhys Hughes created openings, first for Sion Roberts and another to put Reece Evans in for his second. Two more goals from Sion Roberts, again, and Math Roberts made it 6-0 at half-time. Math’s penalty was saved by the keeper but he netted from the rebound.
Three minutes into the second half Rhys Hughes himself found the net with Reece Evans providing the assist. Sion Roberts completed his hat-trick on 61 minutes and then added a 4th 13 mins later to make it 9-0. Goals from Elis Thomas and Rhys Gough completed the scoring leaving Port clear leaders at the top of the table.
Thanks to the Academy for the regular Tweets.

Rhagolwg / Preview: FC Penley

Noddwyr/Sponsors: Maria. Martin & Simon Rookyard

Pnawn Sadwrn byddwn yn croesawu FC Penley y clwb o bentref Llannerch Banna sydd ar y ffin gyda Sir Amwythig. Yn wreiddiol roedd y gêm hon fod i’w chwarae yn Llannerch Banna ond ar gais clwb y ffin newidiwyd y gêm i’r Traeth gyda sêl bendith y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed. Mae FC Penley yn chwarae yn ail adran cynghrair ardal Wrecsam. Yn barod mae’r clwb wedi chwarae tair gêm i gyrraedd Rownd 2 o Gwpan Cymru – dwy rownd gymhwyso yn ogystal a curo yn rownd un y gystadleuaeth. Nid oedd yn hawdd iddynt wrth i ddwy o’u gemau gael eu penderfynu ar giciau o’r smotyn.
Yn y rownd gymhwyso gyntaf curwyd Dreigiau Mostyn 4-2 ar giciau o’r smotyn wedi i’r gêm orffen 4-4 ar ôl amser ychwanegol. Cwblhawyd y gêm nesaf yn y 90 munud gyda Penley yn curo Brymbo o 3-2. Yn dilyn dwy gêm gartref teithiodd y clwb i Fochdre ar gyfer Rownd 1 ac ennill eto 5-3 ar giciau o’r smotyn wedi i’r gêm orffen yn 1-1. Roedd y clwb o Lannerch Banna drwodd i’r 2ail Rownd am y tro cyntaf yn eu hanes.
Dyw perfformiadau Penley ddim cystal yn y gemau cynghrair lle maent heb ennill yn eu 7 gêrm ac ond wedi cael un pwynt hyd yma. Y Sadwrn diwethaf colli oedd eu hanes o 4-2 yn Maesgwyn.
Bydd Port yn dod i’r gêm hon gyda dipyn o hyder yn dilyn buddugoliaeth ardderchog dros Caernarfon yng Nghwpan Huws Gray a sgorio naw gôl yn y gynghrair wrth guro FC Queens Park. Mae Cai Jones a Joe Chaplin yn canfod y rhwyd yn rheolaidd gyda Cai ar ei rhediad gorau i’r clwb yn sgorio 5 gôl yn y 3 gêm ddiwethaf.Siomedig oedd gweld Tom Taylor yn gorfod hercian o’r cae yn yr hanner cyntaf pnawn Sadwrn gan fod bellach yn chwaraewr allweddol yn y cefn. Ond y newyddion da ydy fod Julian Williams wedi gorffen ei waharddiad ac ar gael eto. C’mon Port!

Its back to Cup football next Saturday as we welcome FC Penley to the Traeth. This game was originally to be played at Penley but at the request of the Shropshire border club and with the approval of the FAW the game has been switched to the Traeth. FC Penley play in the second tier of the Welsh National League – Wrexham area. The club has already had to play three Welsh Cup-ties to reach this stage – two qualifying rounds as well as coming through a first round tie. They have needed to work very hard to reach the 2nd Round with two of their ties going to a penalty shoot-out.
In the first qualifier they beat Mostyn Dragons 4-2 on penalties after a high scoring game ended on 4-4 at the end of the extra-time. The second qualifier was completed in 90 minutes with Penley defeating Brymbo FC 3-2. After two home draws Penley travelled to Mochdre in the first round proper and and once again penalties were needed to settle the final result. They won 5-3 on penalties after the scores were tied at 1-1 at the end of extra-time. The win put them in the second round for the first time in their history.
The club’s league form is in stark contrast to thelr form in the league this season, where they have only picked up one point in their 7 games. Last Satuday they went down 4-2 to Maesgwyn. However, we all now from past experience, league form counts for nothing in the excitement of a cup-tie.
Port however will come to the game with some confidence having put Caernarfon out of the League Cup and scoring nine against FC Queen’s Park in last Saturday’s league fixture. Cai Jones and Joe Chaplin are in fine scoring form. Cai is having his best ever run for the club netting 5 times in the last three games. On the injury front it was disappointing to see Tom Taylor limp off midway through the first half on Saturday as he has become a key defender since joining Port. The good news is that Julian Williams has served his 3 match suspension and will be available on again on Saturday. C’mon Port!

Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru Rd 2 / Narrow defeat for U18s

Mewn gêm hynod o agos collodd yr hogiau Dan18 am y tro cyntaf y tymor hwn ac felly yn mynd allan o Gwpan Ieuenctid Cymru.
Cychwynnodd Port ar dân gan fynd ar y blaen, diolch i gic gosb o 25 llath gan Arwyn Jones. Chwe munud yn ddiweddarach aethant 2-0 ar y blaen pan sgoriodd Cai Henshaw gyda ergyd o tu fewn i’r bocs. Tro Airbus oedd hi wedyn, ac yn brwydro ‘nol i sgorio ar ôl 15 munud a munud yn ddiweddarach roedd y sgôr yn gyfartal 2-2. Ar ôl y fath gychwyn trydanol setlodd pethau i lawr a ni chafwyd ychwanegiad at y sgôr cyn yr hanner amser. Yn yr ail hanner aeth Airbus ar y blaen am y tro cyntaf wedi 50 munud ac er i Port frwydro’n galed a chreu cyfleoedd roedd yn dal yn 3-2 i Airbus ar ddiwedd y 90 munud.
Ond i sylweddoli maint datblygiad y criw yma o chwaraewyr ifanc o dan Sion Eifion, rhaid sylweddoli fod gan Airbus academi gry’ iawn, Cawsant nawdd hael yn ystod eu cyfnod yn UGC ac ar hyn o bryd maent yn y 4ydd safle yn y Gynghrair Ddatblygol – un safle uwchben Bangor. Cofier hefyd fod Airbus, y tymor hwn, wedi sicrhau buddugolaiethau dros Y Drenewydd, Bangor a'r Derwyddon Cefn. Tymor anodd cafodd Port yn y Gynghrair Dddatblygol llynedd ond bellach gwelwn gymaint y datblygiad y tymor hwn. Da iawn wir hogiau.

The U18s suffered their first defeat of the season in a tight contest at Airbus in the 2nd Round of the FAW Youth Cup.
There was a blistering start to the game with Port going ahead after just four minutes when Arwyn Jones netted with a 25 yard free kick. Six minutes later they went 2-0 up with Cai Henshaw scoing from inside the box. The two goal advantage did not last very long as Airbus fought back with a goal after 15 minutes and then another a minute later to draw level. After such an electrifying start it is not surprising that the game cooled down and there were no further additions to the score up to half-time. Five minutes into the second half the Airfield club went ahaed for the first time and despite Port’s best efforts that is how the score remained at the end of 90 minutes 3-2 to Airbus.
To put the result in perspective Airbus have a very strong Academy having received generous financial support during their time in the WPL. They are currently in 4th place in the WPL Development League, one place above Bangor City U19s. They have this season recorded wins over Newtown, Cefn Druids and the Bangor City U19s. The Port U19s last season struggled in the WPL Development league so today’s result is a sign of the progress being made under Sion Eifion. Well done lads!!

Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru / FAW Youth Cup

Pob lwc i’r tîm Dan 18 fydd yn chwarae yn Rownd 2 Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru yn erbyn Airbus ar Y Maes Awyr pnawn Sul gyda’r gic gyntaf am 1.30pm. Mae’r hogiau yn ddiguro y tymor hwn ond yn wynebu gêm anodd yn erbyn clwb sy’n uchel yn nhabl Cynghrair Ddatblygol Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. C’mon Port!

Good luck to the U18s who play Airbus in Round 2 of the Welsh Cup at the Airfield on Sunday afternoon with a 1.30pm kick off.. The lads are unbeaten so far this season but they face a tough challenge against a club who are having a good season in the Welsh Premier Development League. C;mon Port!.

Rhagolwg / Preview: FC Queen’s Park

Prestatyn Pnawn Sadwrn byddwn yn croesawu FC Queen’s Park o Wrecsam i’r Traeth ar eu hymweliad cyntaf. Maent yn eu tymor cyntaf ar y lefel yma ar ôl sicrhau dyrchafiad gyda mantais o 8 pwynt dros yr ail glwb yn yr adran. Cychwynwyd y tymor hwn ar dân gan sicrhau 4 pwynt allan o’r chwech cyntaf. Yn fwy perthnasol rhoddwyd gweir o 4-0 i Airbus, clwb oedd newydd ddisgyn o’r Uwch Gynghrair ac ar y funud ar frig tabl HGA. Ond ni lwyddwyd i gynnal y math yma o perfformiadau.
Ers y fuddugoliaeth honno dim ond un pwynt a sicrhawyd, gartref i Gaergybi. Tipyn o siom iddynt oedd colli o 8 gôl yn erbyn Rhuthun gyda’r blaenwr Llyr Morris yn rhwydo 5 gwaith. Hefyd collwyd o 7 gôl yn erbyn Caernarfon ar yr Oval. Erbyn hyn mae’r clwb un lle yn unig uwchben Cyffordd Llandudno, y clwb sydd ar y gwaelod. Bydd eu rheolwr Martin Ford yn ymwybodol iawn o’r angen i ddechrau codi pwyntiau’n fuan iawn, os yw’r clwb am godi o’r gwaelodion.
Gall Port gymryd dipyn o hyder o’u perfformiad arbennig i guro Caernarfon y penwythnos diwethaf. Roedd yna nifer o berfformiadau unigol ardderchog ond yn fwy na dim yn berfformiad tîm gwerthchweil. Mae’r fuddugoliaeth yn tanlinellu potensial y grwp yma o chwaraewyr. Bellach bydd rhaid chwilio am y math o gysondeb wnaiff eu codi o’r 7fed safle presennol. C’mon Port!

On Saturday we welcome the Wrexham club FC Queen’s Park to the Traeth for the very first time. They are in their first season at this level having gained promotion to the HGA after winning the WNL by a more than comfortable 8 point margin. They started their season on fire picking up 4 points out of the first six on offer. More significantly they inflicted a heavy defeat on former WPL club and current table toppers Airbus. The 4-0 win over Airbus set the tongues wagging around the HGA grounds but the club have failed to repeat this kind of form.
Since that win the club appears to have run out of steam. In the eight games that have followed they have picked up just one point with a home 2-2 draw against Holyhead Hotspurs. Of greater concern to them during this disappointing run was to concede 8 goals at Stansty Park to Ruthin Town with Llyr Morris netting five times. Then they shipped another 7 goals at the Oval against second placed Caernarfon Town. The club currently lie just one place above the bottom club Llandudno Junction and manager Martin Ford will be only too aware of the need to revive their early season form to get themselves out of the relegation places.
Port will be buoyed by their excellent performance to defeat Caernarfon Town last weekend. There were some outstanding individual performances but above all an all-round team performance which underlines what this group of players is capable of. They willnow be looking to make a push up the table from their current 7th place. C’mon Port!

Dal yn ddiguro / U18s remain unbeaten

Mae’r tîm Dan 18 yn dal ar ben tabl Cynghrair Ieuenctid Dyffryn Clwyd ar ôl ennill eu 4ydd gêm yn olynol yn Llanfairpwll heddiw. Bu’n rhaid iddynt weithio’n galed iawn am y fuddugoliaeth. Y tîm cartref aeth ar y blaen wedi 25 munud diolch i beniad yn dilyn cic gornel. 10 munud yn ddiweddarach daeth Port yn gyfartal gyda Cai Henshaw yn taro ergyd o ymyl y bocs i gornel ucha’r rhwyd. Er waethaf eu pêl-droed taclus ni lwyddodd hogiau Port fynd ar y blaen tan 78 munud. Yn dilyn cyfnod o bwyso trwm rhwydodd Arwyn Jones gyda cic gosb ac roedd Port ar y blaen am y tro cyntaf, a dyna oedd y sgôr ar ddiwedd y gêm. 2-1 i Port.

Port U18s remain at the top of the Vale of Clwyd Youth League after a fourth straight win at Llanfairpwll this afternoon. They were made to work hard for their win and in fact it was the home team who went ahead after 25 minutes with a headed goal from a corner. Ten minutes later Port levelled the score when Cai Henshaw fired into the top corner from the edge of the box. Despite playing some neat football the breakthrough did not come until the 78th minute when they won a free kick after a period of heavy pressure. Arwyn Jones scored from the free kick to put Port into the lead for the first time in the game. They held on to the lead and ran out 2-1 winners.
