29/12/17 Torfeydd Gwyl San Steffan / Boxing Day Crowds Dyma oedd sylw diddorol Dave Jones yn y Daily Post yn dilyn y gemau a chwaraewyd dros yr Wyl yn yr HGA a’r UGC. “Yet again the pulling power of our level two football league overshadowed the top flight on Boxing Day. “The Huws Gray Alliance's leading fixture, Caernarfon Town v Porthmadog, attracted a crowd of 1,275, while the best the Welsh Premier could muster was 607 for Barry Town United versus Cardiff Met. “Imagine the top game in the EFL Championship gathering more than double the attendance of the biggest Premier League match on the same afternoon. “It wouldn't happen, but what an embarrassment if it ever did.” Above the interesting comments from Dave Jones of the Daily Post regarding attendances at HGA and WP{ matches on Boxing Day. 28/12/17 Rhagolwg: Cyffordd Llandudno / Preview: Llandudno Junction Pnawn Sadwrn fydd Port yn croesawu Cyffordd Llandudno I’r Traeth. Yn dilyn y rhediad siomedig diweddar fydd hon yn gêm bwysig ac yn gyfle i fynd am y triphwynt. Mae’r cefnogwr brwd, Simon Brooks, wedi crynhoi’r sefyllfa bresennol wrth drydar yn ddiweddar. Mae’n dweud, “Angen i ni ganolbwyntio ar y gynghrair am dipyn.2 bwynt da ni di cymryd allan o'r 12 pwynt dwetha. Dan ni'n 9fed; ddim yn ddigon da. Isio 7 pwynt o leia allan o'r 3 gêm nesa'.” Medrwn ychwanegu fod y clwb erbyn hyn wedi colli chwe gêm gynghrair, yr un nifer a’r gemau â enillwyd. Bydd nifer fawr o gefnogwyr yn cytuno efo Simon mai yr amser i ddringo’r tabl ydy ‘rwan. Mae Cyffordd wedi’i chael yn anodd i addasu i chwarae ar lefel uwch, ac hyd yma heb ennill gêm gynghrair. Ond ni fedrwn ei cymryd yn ysgafn gan eu bod o bryd i’w gilydd wedi creu ambell sioc yn y cwpanau yn ogystal a’r gynghrair. Yn eu tair gêm ddiwethaf cawsant dwy gêm gyfartal a cholli yn erbyn Caergybi o 1-0. Un o’r gemau cyfartal oedd 3-3 yn erbyn Airbus, clwb a oedd a gobeithion, ar gychwyn y tymor, i sicrhau dyrchafiad buan. Port oedd ymwelwyr cyntaf a chae Cyffordd yn ôl ym mis Awst ac ar y dydd roedd Port yn eu hwyliau a sicrhawyd buddugoliaeth 7-1. Mae’n adeg troi pêl-droed o safon yn ganlyniadau. C’mon Port! On Saturday Port will welcome Llandudno Junction to the Traeth for a game, following recent disappointing results, that assumes greater importance. Regular supporter Simon Brooks has summed up the current situation in his tweet, pointing out that Port have only taken two points from the last 12 and 9th place is not a satisfactory position for the club. He goes on to target at least 7 points from the next three games. We can also add that the club has now suffered the same number of losses as wins; Many supporters will agree with Simon, that the time to start climbing the table is now. The Junction have struggled to adjust to playing at a higher level and up to date have not been able to record a single league win. Yet they cannot be taken lightly as from time to time in the Cups as well as the league they have pulled off some surprise results. Their last three results are two draws and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Holyhead. One of those drawn games came against Airbus a club at the start of the season who were fancied for a quick return to the WPL. Port were the visitors when Junction played their first home HGA fixture. They found Port in free-scoring form that day resulting in a 7-1 away win. We are playing some excellent football now for the right results too. C’mon Port! 22/12/17 Darbi ‘Dolig Gwynedd / The Gwynedd Christmas Derby Bu disgwyl am y gêm hon ers I’r ddau gyfarfod ym mis Hydref ac mae’r aros drosodd wrth I Port a Chaernarfon gyfarfod ar Wyl San Steffan, 26 Rhagfyr. Llynedd daeth torf fawr o 1,247 I’r Oval a fydd dim syndod gweld yr un peth ddydd Mawrth nesaf. Eisoes mae’r ddau wedi chwarae eu gilydd ddwywaith gyda un buddugoliaeth yr un, felly bydd y gêm hon yn penderfynu’r hawliau brolio am y tymor. Roedd y gêm yn ôl ym mis Awst yn un agos, llawn tensiwn a chyfro hyd y diwedd, gyda’r Cofis yn cipio’r 3 phwynt yn yr amser ychwanegol, diolch i gôl Darren Thomas. Ond pan cyfarfu’r ddau eto ym mis Hydref, y tro yma yng Nghwpan Huws Gray sicrhaodd Port fuddugoliaeth glir o 2-0 mewn tywydd mawr, gyda Cai eto yn canfod y rhwyd a gôl Joe Chaplin yn selio’r fuddugoliaeth. Yn y gynghrair eleni, Caernarfon ydy’r clwb sydd wedi gosod y safon, yn colli ond unwaith a hynny yn ôl ym mis Awst. Hefyd nhw ydy prif sgorwyr y gynghrair gyda 56 o goliau, gan adael ond 18 i fewn, y lleia ond un yn y gynghrair. Y cyfan hyn yn dangos fod tasg anodd yn gwynebu Port, ond darbi lleol ydy hon a bydd y ddau glwb yn barod iawn i fynd amdani. Wedi gor-fwyta’r wyl bydd yn rhyddhad i fynd i’r Oval i floeddio dros y clwb! Gwelwn chi yno! C’mon Port!! The much-anticipated Gwynedd Derby will be played on Boxing Day, 26th December, at the Oval and will be the biggest game in the north on that day. A year ago, the game attracted a huge 1,247 crowd and it is likely to be another big holiday crowd this time. The two clubs have already met twice this season and both have recorded a victory, so the Boxing Day showdown will be the decider. August’s League encounter was a tense and close affair where Port, despite being given an early lead by Cai Jones, were edged out by Darren Thomas’s added time winner. When the clubs met again in October, this time in a Huws Gray Cup-tie, Port gained a convincing 2-0 victory in very testing conditions, with Cai again finding the net and Joe Chaplin’s goal sealed the win. But in the league this season Caernarfon have been the form team losing only once and that back in August. They have scored more goals, 56, than anyone and have conceded just 18, with only Guilsfield conceding fewer. All of this points to a difficult task facing Port, but this is a local derby and both squads will most certainly be up for it. Come and blow away the Christmas over indulgence and enjoy what should be another great encounter. Be there!! C’mon Port! 21/12/17 Dymuniadau’r Wyl wrth Paps / Best wishes at Christmas from Paps Cymraf y cyfle hwn i ddymuno Nadolig Llawen iawn ichi gyd ac ar nodyn personol diolch ichi gyd am flwyddyn arall o gefnogaeth. Mae gennym glwb arbennig a nid yw’n bosib imi eich canmol ddigon am yr holl waith syddyn mynd ymlaen tu ôl i’r llenni. Heb eich cymorth yn gefnogwyr ac yn wirfoddolwyr ni fyddai gennym y clwb arddrchog hwn. Daliwch ati!! I would just like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Xmas , and on a personal note just to thank you for another year’ s support. We have an amazing club and I can’t applaud you all enough for your hard work behind the scenes. Without you and all of the volunteers we wouldn’t have this great club. So, long may it continue !! 19/12/17 Port yn curo / Port win friendly Mewn gêm gyfeillgar gyffrous o sgorio uchel ar Faes Tegid, Y Bala heno, curodd Port Corwen o 6-3. Roedd yn gyfle da i’r ddau glwb gael gêm ymarfer gwerthchweil ar y cae 3G. Diolch i glwb Y Bala. Y sgorwyr i Port oedd Cai Jones (3), Meilir Williams (2) a Sion Edwards. Port came out on top in an exciting high scoring friendly at Maes Tegid tonight. The final scoreline was 6-3 over opponents Corwen, with both sides getting a good workout on the 3G surface. Thanks to the Bala Town FC. The scorers were Cai Jones (3), Meilir Williams (2) and Sion Edwards. 17/12/17 David Poyser cefnogwr / David Poyser supporter Gyda thristwch, derbyniwyd y newyddion trist am golli David Poyser, cefnogwr Port dros gyfnod o flynyddoedd lawer a gollodd ei frwydr yn erbyn y cancr. Dywedodd Myra, gwraig David, “Roedd yn gefnogwr brwd o glwb Port am flynyddoedd ac er gwybodaeth i aelodau a chefnogwyr oedd yn ei adnabod ac sydd yn dymuno mynd i’w gynhebrwng a fydd yn cael ei gynnal ar 21 Rhagfyr am 3 o’r gloch yn Amlosgfa Bangor. “Ni fydd gwasanaeth crefyddol ond coffad a dathliad o’i fywyd. “Mae yna groeso hefyd i ymuno â ni yn Y Goat Bryncir am 4.15pm.” Coffa da am David Poyser. Estynnwn ein cydymdeimlad llwyraf â Myra a’r teulu. With sadness we have received the sad news of the passing of long-time Port supporter David Poyser having lost his battle with cancer. David’s wife Myra says. “He was a great supporter of Porthmadog football team for many years and any of your members and supporters who knew him and who wish to attend his funeral it will be on the 21st Dec, 3pm at Bangor Crematorium. “There will not be a religious service, just an eulogy celebrating his life. “Anyone wishing to join us afterwards at The Goat Inn Bryncir at 4-15pm would be most welcome.” As a club, we extend our deepest sympathy to Myra and family. 17/12/17 Gêm Gyfeillgar nos Fawrth / Friendly fixture Tuesday Gan nad oes gemau cynghrair pnawn Sadwrn mae Craig Papirnyk wedi trefnu gêm Gyfeillgar gyda chlwb Corwen. Bydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae ar Faes Tegid y Bala nos Fawrth nesaf 19 Rhagfyr gyda’r gic gyntaf am 7.45pm. With no league fixtures arranged for next Saturday, Craig Papirnyk has arranged a friendly fixture with Corwen FC. The game will be played at Maes Tegid Bala next Tuesday evening , kick off 7,45pm. 14/12/17 Sion i chwarae ei gêm gyntaf / Sion Edwards in squad for Gresford Ar ôl methu allan y Sadwrn diwethaf, gyda’r gêm yn erbyn Fflint yn cael ei gohirio, bydd Port yn teithio i Gresffordd pan fydd y gic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch. Am Sion Edwards dywedodd Craig Papirnyk, “Mi fydd yn y garfan at pnawn Sadwrn ac yn edrych ymlaen i chwarae ei gêm gyntaf i’r clwb” Ond rhybuddiodd Craig am Gresffordd, “Mae’n lle anodd i fynd iddo ond mae hefyd yn gêm y medrwn ennill. Ar ôl cael wythnos i ffwrdd mae’r hogiau methu aros i chwarae eto.” Gresffordd oedd gwrthwynebwyr cyntaf Port yn ôl ym mis Awst, sy’n golygu ein bod bron hanner ffordd drwy’r tymor. Port enillodd y gêm honno o 2-0, diolch i gic o’r smotyn gan Joe Chaplin a gôl arall gan Chris Jones. Am y 25 munud olaf o’r gêm roedd Gresffordd lawr i 9 dyn. Y tymor diwethaf sicrhaodd Gresffordd ddwy fuddugoliaeth gynghrair dros Port ond ar ôl ennill y gêm yn ôl ym mis Awst mae yna gyfle i dalu’r pwyth yn ôl. Ond fydd hi ddim yn hawdd gan fod Gresffordd ar rhediad da ac wedi ennill 4 o’u 5 gêm olaf gyda buddugoliaethau dros Rhyl, Rhuthun, Fflint a Cyffordd Llandudno. Yr unig gêm iddynt golli oedd o 6-2 yng Nghaernarfon. Mae’r rhediad yma wedi rhoi Gresffordd ar yr un pwyntiau a Port, gyda’r ddau glwb bellach efo record yn union yr un fath: ennill 6, dwy yn gyfartal a cholli 5. Pnawn Sadwrn bydd y ddau clwb yn edrych i sicrhau’r pwyntiau er mwyn symud fyny i chwech ucha’r tabl. C’mon Port! After missing out last weekend through the postponement of the Flint match, Port will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Gresford for a game which kick’s off at 2pm. Craig said of new signing, Sion Edwards, “He'll be in the squad for Saturday and he's looking forward to his Port debut !!” But warned of Gresford, “It's a tough place to go but it's game we can win, the lads have had a week off and can't wait to get back to playing.” Gresford were Port’s first opponents of the season back in August which means that we have all but reached the halfway mark in the season. That game saw Port run out winners by 2-0, thanks to a penalty from Joe Chaplin and a Chris Jones goal. The Athletic found themselves reduced to 9 players for the last 25 minutes. Last season Gresford did the double over us, so with the August win under our belt, this Saturday gives the opportunity to repay the compliment. But it will not be easy as Gresford, after a poor start to the season, have struck something of a purple patch winning 4 of their last 5 games with wins over Rhyl, Ruthin, Flint and Llandudo Junction. The only blemish coming at Caernarfon where they lost 6-2. The run means they are on the same number of points as Port. Both clubs have identical playing records, with 6 wins, 2 draws and 5 defeats. On Saturday both clubs will be looking to make further headway aiming to push into the top six. C’mon Port! 12/12/17 Dan 18 ar y brig / U18s top the table Llongyfarchiadau i Sion Eifion a’i dîm hyfforddi ac yn abennig ei garfan o chwaraewyr talentog. Maent yn gorffen 2017 ar frig tabl Cynghrair Dyffryn Clwyd a Chonwy, wedi ennill eu gemau i gyd. Byddant yn parhau a’u sialens am y teitl yn y flwyddyn newydd. Isod gwelir y rhestr canlyniadau, a hefyd y sgorwyr. 17/9/17: Mynydd Tigers 0-2 Port -Rhys Hughes (2). (Mynydd yn tynnu allan / Mynydd later withdrew) 8/10/17 Port 2-1 Caergybi/ Holyhead -Aled Williams, Sol Kempster. 15/10.17: Port 5-0 Llanberis -Cai Henshaw, Carl O’Hara (2), Reece Evans, Arwyn Jones. 22/10/17 Llanfairpwll 1-2 Port -Cai Henshaw, Arwyn Jones (p). 5/11/17: Bae Penrhyn 0-11 Port -Cai Henshaw, Reece Evans (2), Sion Roberts (4), Math Roberts, Rhys Hughes, Elis Thomas, Rhys Gough. 3/12/17: Caergybi / Holyhead 2-3 Port -Math Roberts (p), Rhys Hughes, Carl O’Hara. Congratulations to Sion Eifion, his coaches and especially his talented young squad, They have ended the year on top of the Vale of Clwyd & Conwy League winning all their fixtures. They will continue their challenge for the title during the New Year. Above is the list of these results together with the scorers. 10/12/17 Sion yn dod a phrofiad i’r garfan / Sion Edwards: A big signing Wrth ddod a Sion Edwrads i’r Traeth, mae Craig Papirnyk wedi dangos ei fod o ddifri am gryfhau’r garfan. Bu’n awyddus ers dipyn i ddod a’r math iawn o brofiad i garfan ifanc gyffrous. Mae gan Sion ddigonedd o brofiad, fel y tystia ei 232 (+ 93) o gemau UGC, i gyd ond un i glwb Dinas Bangor. Mae gyrfa y chwaraewr 30 oed yn ymestyn dros gyfnod o 12 o dymhorau, gan chwarae ei gêm gyntaf yn ôl yn nhymor 2006/07. Mae ganddo hefyd gyfanswm o 58 o goliau hyd yma yn ei yrfa. Roedd yn aelod pwysig o dîm Bangor mewn cyfnod llwyddianus gyda Nev Powell. Chwaraeodd Sion ei ran mewn codi Cwpan Cymru ar dri achysur yn ogystal ac ennill pencampwriaeth Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Hefyd fe chwaraeodd 14 o gemau yn Ewrop. Mae’n chwaraewr ochr chwith chwim, yng nghanol cae neu ar yr asgell, gyda’i rhediadau grymus wedi rhoi problem i amddiffyn Port lawer tro yn y gorffennol. Bydd yn dipyn o rhyddhad i’w gael ar ein ochr ni! Mae’n dilyn ei dad, Kevin Edwards, wrth chwarae i Port ac, i ateb ymholiadau cefnogwyr, mae hanesydd y clwb, Gerallt Owen, yn dweud wrthom mai yn 1980/81 bu’n chwarae i’r clwb a hefyd yn gynnar yn 1981/82 gan chwarae i’r clwb am gyfnod o tua 12 mis. Mae Sion yn haeddu bod yn arwr i gefnogwyr Bangor ond, gyda’r clwb a’r chwaraewr yn gytun, daeth ei gyfnod yn Nantporth i ben, a Port felly ar eu hennill! “Yng nghlwb Bangor a'i stori, Siôn Eds yw ein Messi ni.” Llion Jones. Craig Papirnyk has made a major signing, bringing Sion Edwards to the club. The search has been on for some time, to bring the right kind of experience to a squad which has some exciting young talent. Sion certainly has an abundance of experience as his 232 (+ 93) WPL appearances for Bangor City testifies. The 30 year old’s career spans a period pf 12 seasons having made his Bangor debut in 2006/07 and has a career total of 58 goals. He was a key figure in a a highly successful period for the club under Nev Powell when Sion played his part in lifting the Welsh Cup on three occasions as well as a Welsh Premier title. He also played 14 games in Europe. The pacy left sided midfielder or winger is full of aggressive running and has often given the Port defence a testing time, so it will be a relief to have him on our side. He follows in his father Kevin Edwards’ footsteps, in joining Port. To answer supporters queries regarding Kevin Edwards, club historian, Gerallt Owen, reliably informs us that he played for Port during season 1980/81 and again early in 1981/82, being with the club for a period of about 12 months. Sion, an undoubted Bangor legend, left the club in November by mutual consent. Our gain! 08/12/17 Sion Edwards yn arwyddo / Sion Edwards signs Heddiw mae’r clwb wedi cymryd cam pwysig wrth arwyddo Sion Edwards. Roedd Sion yn rhydd i arwyddo ar ôl gadael Bangor yn ystod y mis diwethaf. Rhif carfan Sion fydd 12. Dywedodd Craig heddiw: “Rwy wedi bod yn edmygwr o Sion dros y ddegawd diwethaf ac mae’n haeddu ei le fel arwr mawr ym Mangor. Ond mae popeth da yn dod i ben. Mae ei siwrnai gyda nhw wedi bod yn un llwyddianus iawn. Rwan mae’n ymuno gyda ni ac yn gyffrous wrth edrych ymlaen i helpu Port i ddatblygu ymhellach. “Bydd ei brofiad a’i allu yn hwb i garfan sydd eisoes yn gryf. Ni allwn adael i’r cyfle i arwyddo chwaraewr fel Sion fynd heibio, yn enwedig a fo yn dymuno dod i Port. Roedd yn addas ei fod yn dilyn llwybr ei dad i gynrychio;i Port. Mae Sion wedi gwrthod sawl cynnig ac imi mae hyn yn arwydd ei fod am chwarae i’r clwb. “Rwy’n hapus iawn i’w arwyddo. Mae ganddo gymaint i’w gynnig a fo ond wedi troi 30 oed yn Awst. Bydd yn cryfhau’r ochr chwith a dod a phrofiad i garfan ifanc. “Rwy’n edrych ymlaen i weithio efo chwaraewr a hogyn arbennig. Croeso i Port Sion!!“ Today the club has made an important signing with Craig Papirnyk bringing Sion Edwards to the Traeth. Sion was a free agent after leaving Bangor City last month. He will have squad number 12. Craig said today: “I have been an admirer of Sion’s over the last decade; he is rightly so a Bangor City Legend but all good things come to an end and his journey with them has been full of successful times . He now joins us and is excited about the prospect of helping Porthmadog develop further and into successful times. “His experience as well as quality will be a boost to what is already a very strong squad. I couldn’t pass up an offer on signing a player like Sion and in all fairness he was the one that wanted to come to Port. His Dad represented the club and he felt it fitting that he should follow in the same path. Sion has turned down other offers and for me that signifies that he really wants to be here and playing for Port. “I am delighted he has signed. He has just turned 30 in August and has a lot more still to give and will strengthen us on the left side and bring the experience that is needed to help our young squad to develop further. “I’m looking forward to working with a top player and lad, welcome to Port Sion!! 08/12/17 Gêm wedi’i GOHIRIO / Game OFF Mae’ gêm yfory rhwng Port a Ffllint wedi’i GOHIRIO. Dywedodd yr ysgrifennydd Rob Bennett, “Ar ôl cysylltu efo Ysgrifennydd y Gynghrair, Chas Rowlands, cytunwyd i OHIRIO’R gêm yfory rhwng Port a Fflint, hyn oherwydd cyflwr presennol y cae a’r rhagolygon am dywydd gwael yn ystod y 24 awr nesaf.” Tomorrow’s game between Port and Flint Town United has had to be postponed. Club secretary Rob Bennett said, “After consultation with Chas Rowlands, League Secretary, it has been agreed to call the match OFF tomorrow between Porthmadog and Flint Town United . This is due to the condition of the pitch today and the upcoming forecast for further bad weather in the area over the next 24 hours.” 07/12/17 Rhagolwg / Preview: Fflint Noddwr / Match Sponsor:Cariad Care Homes Pnawn Sadwrn byddwn yn croesawu’n cyfeillion o’r Fflint i’r Traeth ar gyfer gêm gynghrair. Mae Fflint, fel Port, wedi cyrraedd 4ydd Rownd Cwpan Cymru, pryd y byddant yn chwarae’r Drenewydd. Gyda Port yn ennill ond un pwynt o’r chwech diwethaf bydd angen gwthio ‘mlaen yn y gynghrair yn ogystal â’r Gwpan. Mae hyn yn wir hefyd am Y Fflint sydd wedi tan gyflawni hyd yma y tymor hwn ac yn 11eg yn y tabl gyda 14 pwynt. Daeth eu perfformiad gorau o’r tymor yn y fuddugoliaeth o 3-0 dros Cegidfa ond dim ond un fuddugoliaeth a gafwyd yn y chwe gêm gynghrair ddiwethaf, a honno yn erbyn Cyffordd Llandudno y clwb ar y gwaelod. I wella’r sefyllfa hon maent wedi gwneud y symudiad pendant o apwyntio Niall McGuIness, cyn reolwr Y Rhyl, i gymryd lle Andy Holden ar Gae y Castell. Y tymor diwethaf, enillodd Fflint o 2-0 ar Y Traeth ac, ar yr amser hynny, roedd yn gêm rhwng y 3ydd a’r 4ydd yn y gynghrair. 2-0 oedd y sgôr hefyd pan cyfarfu’r ddau draw yn y Fflint ond y tro yna Port gafodd y 3 phwynt. Cofiwn y gêm, ddim am y canlyniad, ond am ail hanner ‘bywiog’ pan aeth pethau’n flêr braidd a bu’n rhaid i’r dyfarnwr, Aron Wyn Jones chwifio’r coch deirgwaith gyda’r Fflint yn gorffen y gêm efo wyth chwaraewr ar y cae!! Edrychwn ymlaen am bnawn Sadwrn heddychlon y tro yma a triphwynt i Port! Next Saturday, December 9th, we welcome our friends from Flint to the Traeth. Both clubs have reached the 4th Round of the Welsh Cup and Flint will be at home to Newtown. With Port picking up just one point from their last two league fixtures the club will be keen to push on in the league as well as the Cup. This is true also of our visitors who have under achieved so far this season, lying in 11th place in the table with 14 points. Their best performances of the season came with a 3-0 win over a strong Guilsfied outfit, but the club has lost 5 of their last 6 league fixtures with the only win coming by 5-0 at bottom club Llandudno Junction. To rectify the situation the Deeside club have made a decisive move by appointing former Rhyl boss Niall McGuinness to replace Andy Holden in the hot seat at Cae y Castell. On Saturday Port will certainly need to be prepared for a bounce under the new manager. Last season Flint were 2-0 winners at the Traeth and that remember was a game between 3rd and 4th placed clubs. The return game also ended with a 2-0 scoreline and this time it was Port who took the three points. The game however remains in the memory, not so much for the result, but for a ‘lively’ second half when the red mist descended and referee Aron Wyn Jones showed red three times to reduce Flint to just 8 players. Let’s hope for a nice quiet time next Saturday and three points for Port! 06/12/17 Gemau Cwpan yn erbyn Cei Conna / Past Cup encounters with the Nomads Diolch i hanesydd y clwb, Gerallt Owen, sy’n bwrw golwg dros gemau Cwpan Cymru y gorffennol yn erbyn y clwb o Lannau Dyfrdwy: Gêm oddi cartref anodd yn erbyn Cei Conna gafodd Port, wrth i’r enwau ddod o’r het nos Lun, ar gyfer 4ydd Rownd Cwpan Cymru. Mae Cei Conna ar y funud yn y 4ydd safle yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru wedi sicrhau 28 pwynt mewn 15 o gemau. Dyma fydd y pedwerydd tro i’r ddau glwb chwarae eu gilydd yng nghwpan Cymru ers ddiwedd yr Ail Rhyfel Byd. Gwnaethant wynebu eu gilydd yn yr ail rownd yn nhymor 1997/98 gyda Cei Conna yn ennill o 4-1. Cynt roeddent wedi cyfarfod yn Rownd 2 yn 1984/85 gyda’r clwb o Lannau Dyfrdwy yn ennill unwaith eto o 2-1. Cafodd Port eu hunig fuddugoliaeth ar yr 2ail o Rhagfyr 1968 wrth i Port ennill yr ail chwarae o 8-0 ar Y Traeth yn dilyn gêm gyfartal 2-2 yng Nghei Conna wythnos ynghynt. Y diwrnod hwnnw sgoriodd Jimmy Hinch hatric, gyda J O Williams a Jimmy Griffin ill dau yn sgorio ddwywaith gyda Terry Smith yn rhwydo’r 8fed. Thanks to club historian, Gerallt Owen, who takes a look at some of the previous Welsh Cup encounters between Port and our next opponents: Following Monday night’s Welsh Cup fourth round draw, Porthmadog have been given the very difficult tie away at Connah’s Quay Nomads, who are currently in fourth spot in the Welsh Premier League with 28 points from 15 League games. This will be the fourth time the two sides have met in the Welsh Cup since World War 2. We met in the second round during season 1997/98 when the Nomads ran out 4-1 winners. Prior to that the teams met in Round 2 during the 1984/85 season with the Nomads again running out winners this time by 2 goals to 1. The only win for Port came on December 21st 1968 when Port won a fourth round replay 8-0 at the Traeth following a 2-2 draw at Connah’s Quay 7 days earlier. Jimmy Hinch bagged a hat-trick that day with J.O Williams and Jimmy Griffin bagging two apiece and Terry Smith adding the eighth. 06/12/17 Joe yn gyfartal a record / Joe equals record Tan sgoriodd Joe Chaplin bedair gôl dros Port pnawn Sadwrn, un chwaraewr yn unig oedd wedi cyflawni’r gamp hon mewn gêm Gwpan Cymru dros y clwb. Datgelodd Gerallt Owen, mewn erthygl ddiddorol yn y rhaglen pnawn Sadwrn, rhai o ystadegau sgorio Port yn y gystadleuaeth. Un ffaith ddiddorol oedd mai dim ond Bobby Frazer, yn ôl yn Hydref 1973 yn erbyn Caergybi, oedd wedi sgorio pedair gôl. Erbyn hyn, wrth gwrs mae yna ddau, a gwelwyd pedair gôl Joe Chaplin ar Uchafbwyntiau Sgorio. Grêt Joe a llongyfarchiadau! Joe Chaplin’s four goals in the JD Welsh Cup Round 3 tie against Panteg FC on Saturday, makes him only the second Port player ever to score that number of goals in a Welsh Cup tie. Gerallt Owen revealed, in his excellent statistical piece on Port ‘Hat-trick Heroes’ in last Saturday’s Match Programme, that Bobby Frazer, in October 1973, netted four times in a Welsh Cup-tie against Holyhead Town becoming the only Port player to achieve this notable landmark. Now he is joned by Joe Chaplin whose four goals were shown on Sgorio’s highlights programme. Well done and congratulations Joe! 04/12/17 Cei Conna nesa’ / It’s the Nomads Bydd Port yn ymweld â Chei Conna yn 4ydd Rownd Cwpan Cymru. Bydd yn gêm anodd iawn gyda’r clwb o Lannau Dyfrdwy ar hyn o bryd yn y 4ydd safle yn UGC ac wedi cynrychioli’r Gynghrair yn Ewrop yn ystod y ddau dymor diwethaf. Y tymor diwethaf sicrhaodd y clwb yr ail safle tu ôl i TNS. Mae’r ddau glwb wedi cyfarfod nifer fawr o weithiau yn y gorffennol yn UGC a hefyd yn y Cymru Alliance ond yn ddiweddar nid yw ein llwybrau wedi croesi. O safbwynt Port un o’r gemau mwyaf cofiadwy oedd honno yn ôl yn nhymor 2008/09 pan oedd Port yn colli 5-1 ar yr hanner ond mewn ail hanner syfrdanol sgoriodd Port 5 gôl i ennill y gêm o 6-5. Bydd yn dipyn o sialens i Port ond un y bydd Craig Papirnyk a’i garfan yn edrych ymlaen iddo. C’mon Port! Port will visit Connah’s Quay in the 4th Round of the JD Welsh Cup. It will be a very tough tie for us as the Deeside club are currently in 4th spot in the WPL table and have represented the League in European competitions during the past two seasons. Last season, under experienced manager Andy Morrison, they were runners-up to TNS. The two clubs have played each other many times in the past at both WPL and HGA level but their paths have not crossed in competitive natches in recent times. Certainly from a Port point of view the most memorable encounter between the two clubs came in 2008/09 when Port recovered from a 5-1 half-time deficit to win 6-5 with a quite remarkable come back. It will be quite a challenge but one that Craig Papirnyk and his squad will really look forward to.
