15/02/06 Gwaharddiad Les / Les Davies Suspended Collodd Les Davies, chwaraewr sydd wedi bod ar rediad da iawn yn ddiweddar, y gêm ar y Belle Vue ddydd Sadwrn yn dilyn derbyn pum cerdyn melyn -a hyn yn arwain at waharddiad o un gêm. Roedd yn anffodus ei fod wedi colli gêm lle roedd angen i Port fod ar eu cryfaf ond bydd yn ôl at y gêm allweddol rhwng dau dîm canol tabl yn Caersws ddydd Sadwrn (Chwefror 18fed). Gyda’r ddau dîm yn anelu i orffen mor uchel â phosib’ yn y tabl, ac ennill lle yng Nghwpan Cenedlaethol y BBC, bydd pwyntiau ddydd Sadwrn yn bwysig iawn. Les Davies, who has been in an excellent run of form of late, missed Saturday’s visit to the Belle Vue because of a one match suspension on the totting up of yellow cards rule. It was unfortunate that he missed a game where Port needed to be at full strength but he will return for the vital mid-table clash at Caersws. With both sides eager to ensure as high a finish as possible and secure a place in next season’s Premier Cup, Saturday’s game assumes greater importance. 09/02/06 Saddler yn Arwyddo i Port / Saddler signs for Port Daeth y chwilio am flaenwr newydd i ben gyda cyhoeddiad y cyd-rheolwr Viv Williams fod Jason Saddler wedi arwyddo i Port gan drosglwyddo mewn da bryd i fod yn y garfan ar gyfer y gêm yn Y Rhyl ddydd Sadwrn. Arwyddodd Jason i Gaernarfon yn haf 2005. Ymddangosodd i Gaernarfon mewn tri cyfnod blaenorol, rhwng 1997 a 2002. Cyn ymuno a Chaernarfon chwaraeodd i Langefni yn y Gynghrair Undebol a fo oedd prif sgoriwr y clwb y tymor diwethaf. Hefyd ymddangosodd i Port nifer fach o weithiau yn ystod eu dyddiau hwy yn y Gynghrair Undebol. Y tymor hwn, mae wedi ymddangos 14 gwaith i Gaernarfon mewn gemau cwpan a chynghrair gan sgorio dwy gôl yn y gynghrair a phedair yn ystod rhediad Caernarfon yng Nghwpan Cymru. Mae ei goliau yn y cwpan yn cynnwys un ar y Traeth pan gollodd Port yn y 3edd rownd a hefyd gôl wych o 25 llath dros ben y golwr yn y fuddugoliaeth dros Bala yn y 4ydd rownd. Dangoswyd yr ergyd ardderchog hon ar “Y Clwb Pêl Droed” nos Sadwrn. Port’s search for a striker is over with joint-manager Viv Williams announcing that Jason Saddler has been signed from Caernarfon Town and will be included in the squad for the game at Rhyl on Saturday. Saddler signed for the Canaries in the summer of 2005 having previously appeared for them in three separate spells between 1997 and 2002. He previously played for Llangefni in the Cymru Alliance and was their leading scorer last season. He also very briefly appeared for Port in their Cymru Alliance days. This season he has made 14 league and cup appearances for Caernarfon and has scored twice in the league and four times in the Canaries’ Welsh Cup run. His cup goals include one at the Traeth in Port’s third round defeat and a superb 25 yard lob over the keeper in Saturday’s 4th round victory over Bala. This excellent strike was shown on Saturday’s “Y Clwb Pel-droed”. 09/02/06 Gemau Academi/Academy Fixtures Trefnwyd y gemau Academi cynlynol: The following Academy fixtures have been arranged: Sul Chwefror 19eg, 1pm / Sunday Feb 19, 1pm, Clwb Chwaraeon Madog. Dan-12 / Under-12: Porthmadog v Rhyl Dan 14 / Under 14: Porthmadog v Rhyl Dydd Mawrth Chwefror 21ain, 1pm. / Tuesday Feb 21st, 1pm, Clwb Chwaraeon Madog. Dan 16 / Under 16: Porthmadog v Rhyl Sul Mawrth 5ed / Sunday March 5th, K.O. TBA Dan 12 / Under 12: Rhyl v Porthmadog Dan 14 / Under 14: Rhyl v Porthmadog 08/02/06 Bws i’r Rhyl / Coach to Rhyl Bydd yna fws i gefnogwyr sydd yn bwriadu teithio i’r Rhyl ddydd Sadwrn (Chwefror 11eg ). Bydd yn gadael Porthmadog o tu allan i’r Queens am 11 y bore ac yn codi cefnogwyr ar hyd y daith i’r rhai sy’n dymuno. Os oes gennych ddiddordeb, cysylltwch â Siop Kaleidoscope (01766 514343) am wybodaeth pellach. Mae diddordeb mawr yn lleol yn y gêm hon a gobeithiwn weld nifer dda o gefnogwyr yn gwneud y daith fer i’r Rhyl. Ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf, teithiodd yn agos i 30 o gefnogwyr i Gaerdydd felly edrychwn ymlaen i weld cefnogaeth dda iawn ddydd Sadwrn. Mae’r chwaraewyr bob amser yn gwerthfawrogi’r gefnogaeth a gânt yn enwedig mewn gêmau i ffwrdd. Y bwriad ydy i gefnogwyr Port hel at ei gilydd yn y Belle Vue a dilyn esiampl ardderchog criw lesisalegend a chreu digonedd o swn. Cefnogwch yr hogiau -a chofiwch fod y gic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch. There will be a supporters coach for those intending to travel to Sunny Rhyl on Saturday (February 11th) The coach will leave Port at 11 am from outside the Queens and will also pick up supporters en route. If you are interested in travelling with the club then contact Kaleidoscope (01766 514343) for further information. There is considerable interest in the game locally and it is hoped that a good contingent will make the short journey to Rhyl. Last Saturday, a group of almost thirty supporters made the long journey to Cardiff so we should see substantial support at the Belle Vue. The players are always appreciative of the support they receive especially on away grounds. The intention is for supporters to congregate together inside Belle Vue and follow the excellent example of the lesisalegend crew and create plenty of noise. Support the lads –and remember the kick off is at 2 pm. 07/02/06 Gêm Caerfyrddin i ffwrdd / Carmarthen game off Mae'r gêm oddi-cartref yn erbyn Caerfyrddin, oedd wedi ei threfnu ar gyfer y 4dd o Fawrth, wedi cael ei gohirio. Yn hytrach, fe fydd Caerfyrddin yn chwarae ar Ffordd Ffarar yn erbyn Bangor yn rownd wyth olaf Cwpan Cymru. Fe fydd gwybodaeth am ddyddiad yr ail-drefnu yn ymddangos ar y safle yma'n fuan. Port's match against Carmarthen, which had been arranged for the 4th March, has been postponed. Instead, Carmarthen will be at Farrar Road against Bangor City in the Quarter Finals of the Welsh Cup. Details of the re-arranged date will soon be available on this site. 07/02/06 Cwpan Ieuenctid: Port 0, Aberystwyth 2. / Youth Cup: Port 0, Aberystwyth 2. Daeth trobwynt mewn gêm dda a chystadleuol ar ôl 18 munud pan ddyfarnwyd cic o’r smotyn i Aberystwyth am dynnu crys ond ni chosbwyd neb â cherdyn gan y dyfarnwr yn dilyn y drosedd. Yn wir ni adawyd y gêm lifo o gwbl gan ddyfarnwr a oedd yn chwibanu am y trosedd lleiaf. Bu Tom Hughes yn anlwcus i weld taran o ergyd ganddo yn taro’r postyn. Ceisiodd Port yn galed yn yr ail hanner i ddod yn ôl ond cadwodd Aberystwyth eu siâp yn dda. Ar ôl 65 munud, sgoriodd Stuart Frazer eu hail gôl. Gorffennodd y ddau dîm efo deg o chwaraewyr ar y cae gyda Tom Hughes yn derbyn dwy gerdyn felen a Martin Norton o Aberystwyth yn gweld coch am dacl hwyr. Roedd hyn yn tanlinellu’r ffaith ei bod yn gêm gystadleuol iawn. Er y golled, roedd yn berfformiad da eto gan chwaraewyr ifanc Port. The turning point, in a good competitive match, came after 18 minutes when the referee awarded Aberystwyth a penalty for alleged shirt pulling though he did not punish any individual with a card for the transgression. In fact, the referee failed to allow the game to flow, stopping the game for every minor infringement. Tom Hughes was unlucky to see his thunderous shot strike the upright. Port tried hard in the second period to get back into the game but after 65 minutes Stuart Frazer scored a second for Aberystwyth. Both sides completed the game with only ten players on the pitch. Tom Hughes was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card and Martin Norton for Aberystwyth saw red for a late tackle. This underlines the competitive nature of the game. Despite the loss this was again a good performance by the Port youngsters. Port: Cai Cameron, Ciron Williams, Gerrard Laidlow, Arwel Evans, Rogan Chester, Steven Jones, Trystan Godfrey, Carwyn Edwards, Iestyn Woolway, Tom Hughes, Mark Cook. Subs: Mark Bridge, Ben Riggle. Geraint Evans. 07/02/06 Gêm dan-21 yn cael ei gohirio / Under-21 game canceled Yn anffodus, bu’n rhaid gohirio’r gem yn erbyn TNS a oedd i’w chwarae neithiwr (Chwefror 6ed) am nad oedd y clwb yn gallu cael tîm digon profiadol i fynd i TNS. Teimlwyd, gan y clwb, mai di bwrpas byddai gyrru’r hogiau ifanc iawn eto yn enwedig i TNS. Yn ychwanegol at hyn, nid oedd unrhyw chwaraewr profiadol o garfan y tîm cyntaf ar gael oherwydd y paratoadau ar gyfer gêm anodd yn erbyn Y Rhyl ddydd Sadwrn. Unfortunately, the Under 21 game against TNS, which was to have been played last night (February 6th), had to be postponed as the club was unable to ensure a sufficiently experienced team and it would be largely pointless to send a very young team to TNS. No senior squad players were available in view of Saturday’s difficult clash against Rhyl. 06/02/06 Gêm Rhyl / Rhyl Match Dylai cefnogwyr, sy’n teithio i’r Belle Vue ddydd Sadwrn ar gyfer y gêm gynghrair, sylwi fod y gic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch yn lle’r 2.30 pm arferol. Bydd uchafbwyntiau’r gêm yn cael eu dangos ar ‘Y Clwb Pêl Droed’ nos Sadwrn ac mae’r amser cychwyn wedi newid ar gais y BBC. Supporters travelling to the Belle Vue next Saturday (February 11th) should note that the game will kick off at 2 pm instead of the usual 2.30 pm. Highlights of the game will be shown on ‘Y Clwb Pêl Droed’ on Saturday evening and the change in kick off time is at the request of the BBC. 06/02/06 Gêm Bangor / Bangor Match Mae’r gêm yn Ffordd Ffarar a oedd wedi’u had-drefnu ar gyfer Chwefror 21ain yn mynd i’w chael eu had-drefnu unwaith eto gan fod Bangor yn chwarae Caerfyrddin ar ddydd Sul, Chwefror 19eg. Dyddiad yng nghanol mis Mawrth yw’r posibilrwydd mwyaf tebygol i’r gêm erbyn hyn. The re-arranged Bangor game which had been pencilled in for February 21st is now subject to further change as Bangor will be involved in a Sunday fixture against Carmarthen on February 19th. A mid March date now seems the most likely possibility. 03/02/06 Dan 21: Drenewydd 4, Port 2. / Under 21: Newtown 4, Port 2. Colli fu hanes Port yn y gêm Dan 21 i ffwrdd yn Y Drenewydd. Tîm ifanc iawn oedd gan Port tra roedd tîm cryf Y Drenewydd yn cynnwys nifer o chwaraewyr ‘fringe’ o garfan y tîm cyntaf gyda’r rheolwr Roger Preece yn gwylio. Cafodd Y Drenewydd hanner cyntaf da iawn ac erbyn hanner amser roeddent 3-1 ar y blaen. Y sgoriwr i Port oedd Tom Hughes. Roedd yr ail hanner tipyn yn wahanol gyda Port yn chwarae llawer yn well. Sgoriodd Ben Chippendale gôl dda yn penio i’r rhwyd yn dilyn gwaith da ar y dde gan Iestyn Woolway. Petai cynnig arbennig Tom Hughes o‘r tu allan i’r bocs wedi mynd i’r rhwyd efallai y buasai wedi bod yn stori wahanol yn y diwedd. Ond gwnaeth golwr y tîm cartref arbediad gwych. Siwrne bell sydd yn wynebu’r tîm Dan 21 eto nos Lun nesaf i chwarae tîm cryf TNS ar Y Dreflan. The Under 21’s suffered a 4-2 defeat away at Newtown. The very young Port team faced a strong Newtown side which included a number of fringe first team squad members being closely watched by manager Roger Preece. Newtown enjoyed a good first half and by half-time they were 3-1 ahead. Tom Hughes was the scorer for Port. The second-half saw a far better performance from Port. Ben Chippendale headed an excellent goal for Port following good work down the right by Iestyn Woolway. Had Tom Hughes’ fine effort from outside the box found the net then it could have been a different story at the end. But the Newtown keeper pulled off a fine save. The Under 21’s face another long journey on Monday evening to face a strong TNS side on the Dreflan. Port: Tony Gandy, Arwel Evans, Iwan Williams,Dave Harding,Gareth Piercy, Mathew Hughes, Iwan Tomos, Iestyn Woolway, Ywain Gwynedd, Ben Chippendale , Tom Hughes. Subs: Carwyn Edwards, Stephen Jones a Gerrard Laidlow. Geraint Evans. 02/02/06 Mike ar fin cyrraedd y 300 / Mike on the verge of reaching 300 Mae’r bachgen lleol, Mike Foster, ar fin cyrraedd carreg filltir nodedig. Ar y funud, mae wedi chwarae 298 o weithiau mewn gêmau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru ac felly os y gwnaiff chwarae ddydd Sadwrn yn erbyn Grange Quins ac aros yn ddianaf fe allai wneud ei dri chanfed ymddangosiad yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru ar y Belle Vue yn erbyn Y Rhyl ar Chwefror 11eg. Llwyddwyd i ddod o fewn cyrraedd y nod yma drwy gynrychioli tri chlwb. Gwnaed y rhan fwyaf o’r ymddangosiadau wrth gwrs yng nghoch a du CPD Porthmadog. Daw rhain mewn dau gyfnod gyda’r cyntaf rhwng 1993 ac 1998 a’r ail rhwng 2003 a’r presennol. Yn ystod y ddau gyfnod hwn, chwaraeodd 257 o weithiau i Port. Rhwng y ddau gyfnod yma, cynrychiolodd Aberystwyth 38 gwaith rhwng 1998 a 2000 ac ymddangosodd dair gwaith i Ddinas Bangor yn nhymor 2000-2001. Fo ydy’r 14eg yn rhestr ymddangosiadau yn yr Uwch Gynghrair ers y cychwyn yn 1993. Ar ben y rhestr bresennol mae Colin Reynolds o Gaersws sydd wedi ymddangos 430 o weithiau hyd yma. Local boy Mike Foster is on the verge of an important milestone. At present he has made 298 appearances in the Welsh Premier so if he plays on Saturday against Grange Quins and remains injury free he could be making his 300th Welsh Premier appearance at the Belle Vue against Rhyl on February 11th. This remarkable achievement will have been achieved representing three clubs. The bulk of his appearances have of course been made in the red and black of Porthmadog. These come in two periods: the first between 1993 and 1998 and latterly between 2003 and the present. In these two spells he has played 257 times for Port. In between he appeared 38 times for Aberystwyth between 1998 and 2000 and three times for Bangor City in season 2000-2001. His record places him at 14th in an all-time Welsh Premier appearance list headed by Colin Reynolds of Caersws.with 430 appearances. 02/02/06 Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru / Welsh Youth Cup Bydd tîm Dan 18 Port yn croesawu Aberystwyth i’r Traeth pnawn Sadwrn (Chwefror 4ydd) yn nhrydedd rownd Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru. Bydd y gic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch. Felly os nad ydy’r daith hir i Gaerdydd ar gyfer y gêm yn erbyn Grange Quins yn apelio, Y Traeth ydy’r lle ichi er mwyn annog yr hogiau ifanc i gyrraedd y bedwaredd rownd. Port youngsters entertain Aberystwyth in the third round of the Welsh Youth Cup on Saturday (February 4th). The kick off is at 2 pm. Therefore if you don’t fancy the long trip to Cardiff for the match against Grange Quins, Y Traeth is the place for you to cheer the young lads into the fourth round. 02/02/06 Viv yn gosod her / Viv’s sets a challenge Mae’n werth tynnu sylw at sialens mae Viv wedi’i roi i chwaraewyr ifanc ac addawol y clwb. Yn dilyn perfformiad addawol gan nifer o chwaraewyr ifanc yng Nghwpan Her yr Arfordir, gwahoddwyd hwy i ymuno â chwaraewyr y tîm cyntaf ar nosweithiau ymarfer. Yn amlwg, dyma’r ffordd i’r chwaraewyr ifanc yma ddatblygu. Ategir y sylwadau yma gan Gerallt Owen, yn ei nodiadau golygyddol yn y rhaglen, lle mae o’n dweud “.. mae cynnig agored iddynt fynd i ymarfer gyda’r tîm cyntaf. Gall hyn ond fod yn dda i’w datblygiad fel chwaraewyr ond hefyd i ddatblygiad tymor hir y clwb.” Y tymor hwn eisoes gwelwyd Ywain Gwynedd a Geraint Mitchell yn chwarae i’r tîm cyntaf ac mae Viv bellach wedi disgrifio’r llwybr y mae angen i fwy o chwaraewyr ifanc ei ddilyn er mwyn ennill lle yn ngharfan y tîm cyntaf at y dyfodol. Gydag Osian yn hyfforddi’r Academi, gwelir y modd y mae’r cyd-rheolwyr yn datblygu’r clwb o’r gwaelod i fyny. Hogiau ifanc, mae’r cyfle yna manteisiwch arno. It is worth noting the challenge which Viv has set for the promising young players at the club. Following promising performances by a number of young players in the Coast Challenge Cup, they have been invited to join the first team at training evenings. Obviously this is the path for young players who wish to develop their abilities. This challenge is supported by Gerallt Owen in his editorial notes in the match programme where he says “.. there is an open invitation for them to train with the first team. This can only be good for their development as players and also for the long term development of the club.” This season we have already seen Ywain Gwynedd and Geraint Mitchell feature regularly in the first team squad and Viv has spelt out the path for other young players to follow if they wish to challenge for places in the first team squad in the future. With Osian coaching the Academy, we can see how the joint-managers are developing the club from the bottom up. The opportunity for young players is there if they wish to take advantage of it. 31/01/06 Trwydded UEFA / UEFA Licence Cafodd clwb Port eu harchwilio ddydd Iau wythnos diwethaf fel rhan o’r drefn ceisiadau am Drwydded UEFA. Gwnaed llawer o waith y tymor diwethaf ond methodd y clwb ar yr adeg honno oherwydd mater technegol ynglyn ag archwilio cyfrifon. Blwyddyn yn ddiweddarach, cwblhawyd mwy o waith gan wella gweithdrefnau’r clwb ac mae Gerallt Owen, ysgrifennydd y clwb a fu’n gyfrifol am waith ar y Drwydded UEFA, yn obeithiol y bydd Port yn sicrhau’r drwydded y tro hwn. Dywedodd Gerallt “Mae’r broses drwyddedu yn un anodd ac yn golygu llawer o waith i bob un o’r clybiau sydd yn rhan o’r broses. Dim ond wyth clwb sicrhaodd drwydded y llynedd. Gyda thrwydded V2 UEFA i’w gweithredu erbyn 2008, rydym yn awyddus i sicrhau trwydded y tro hwn. Porthmadog FC were audited a week last Thursday as part of the ongoing UEFA Club Licensing application. A great deal of work on the application was done last season but the club failed to gain the licence primarily because of a technicality relating to the auditing of accounts. This year, further work to improve and update club procedures has been done and club secretary Gerallt Owen, who has been responsible for UEFA Licensing, is hopeful that Port will get the licence. Gerallt said “The licensing process is quite arduous with a lot of work involved for all clubs; only eight clubs got the licence last season. With UEFA Licensing V2 to be implemented in 2008, we are keen to secure the licence this time round. 26/01/06 Les yn aros / Les to stay Newyddion da i gefnogwyr Port ydy’r cadarnhad gan Viv fod Les ar gontract i Port ac nid yw’n mynd i unman arall. Roedd peth consyrn yn dilyn honiad Clayton Blackmore ei fod am ddenu Les yn ôl i Fangor. Nid yw’n gyfrinach chwaith fod rheolwr newydd Bangor yn edmygydd mawr o allu Les. Yng nghyfnod Blackmore fel hyfforddwr tîm Dan-21 Cymru cafodd Les ei gynnwys yn y garfan. Ond yn ddiweddar iawn bu hefyd sôn fod Caernarfon am ddenu Les i’r Oval. The news that Port supporters want to hear came with Viv’s announcement that Les is under contract at Port and is not moving anywhere else. There was some concern when Clayton Blackmore declared his interest in attracting Les back to Bangor. It is no secret that the new Bangor manager is a long time admirer of Les’ ability. It was in Blackmore’s period as coach to the Wales Under-21’s that Les was included as a member of the squad. It is only very recently that Caernarfon attempted to attract Les to the Oval. 23/01/06 Pwy sy’n Fasgot? Who are the mascots? Gwelir yr efeilliaid, Ifan a Guto Emyr Roberts, masgotiaid ar gyfer y gêm rhwng Port ac Aberystwyth. Dyma’r ddau gyda swyddogion y gêm a hefyd gapteiniaid y ddau dîm sef Aneurin Thomas a Lee Webber. Felly nid yn unig mae gan Port gyd reolwyr ond hefyd gyd fasgotiaid! Nid yw’r efeilliaid naw oed yn rhannu yr un diddordebau ym maes pêl droed. Hoff chwaraewr Ifan ydy Carl Owen tra fod Guto yn ffafrio Lee Webber. Hefyd mae Ifan yn cefnogi Arsenal a’i hoff chwaraewr ydy Thierry Henry. Ar y llaw arall, cefnogi Lerpwl mae Guto, a Steven Gerrard ydy ei hoff chwaraewr. Croeso i eraill ddilyn esiampl Ifan a Guto a bod yn fasgotiaid. Cysylltwch â Gerallt (01766 512991) The picture shows twin brothers, Ifan Emyr Roberts and Guto Emyr Roberts, lining up with the match officials and rival captains Aneurin Thomas and Lee Webber before the recent clash between Port and Aberystwyth at the Traeth. Port not only had joint managers on the day but also joint mascots! The nine year old twin brothers do not share the same football tastes however. Ifan’s favourite Port player is Carl Owen while Lee Webber is Guto’s favourite. In addition, Ifan is an Arsenal supporter and his favourite player is Thierry Henry whilst Guto supports Liverpool and his Anfield favourite is Steven Gerrard. Others who would like to be mascots should get in touch with Gerallt (01766 512991) 23/01/06 John Gwynfor yn ôl? / John Gwynfor to return? Yng nghanol yr holl sibrydion a symudiadau oddi ar y cae, daeth y newydd a all, gyda lwc, lonni calon pob cefnogwr Port. Na dydy Ronaldinio heb arwyddo i Port –na rhywbeth llawer iawn gwell na hynny! Cadwch hyn o dan eich het ond mae John Gwynfor wedi bod yn ymarfer gyda’r tîm cyntaf a, mwy na hynny, mae yna obeithion gwirioneddol inni ei weld yn ôl ar y cae yng nghrys Port cyn hir. Siomwyd pob cefnogwr ar ddechrau’r tymor, pan, am resymau personol a rhesymau gwaith, nid oedd John yn medru roi’r amser i chwarae yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Ond mae pethau wedi newid a gobeithio’n wir fod yr arwr o Ben Llyn ar ei ffordd yn ôl. Cynta’ i gyd gorau i gyd John bach! In the midst of all the whispers, counter whispers and movements off the field has come, with luck, the news that will thrill all Port supporters. No Ronaldinio has not yet signed for Port – it is far better news than that! Keep it under your hat but the story goes that John Gwynfor is once again training with the club and there are genuine hopes that he will once again be appearing in a Port shirt. Supporters were bitterly disappointed when at the beginning of the season the news broke that John, for personal and work reasons, could no longer give the time to play in the Welsh Premier but it appears that things have changed and we can now be allowed to hope that we will see the hero from Pen Llyn back in action for Port. And the sooner the better John bach! 23/01/06 Gem gyntaf Paul Friel / Paul Friel's first match Chwaraeodd Paul Friel ei gêm gyntaf ddydd Sadwrn i Port ar ôl trosglwyddo o Fangor at ddiwedd yr wythnos. Chwaraeodd y 90 munud llawn ac, o ystyried nad oedd hyd yn oed wedi ymarfer gyda’i gyd chwaraewyr newydd o’r blaen, fe gymrodd ei le yn arbennig o dda yng nghanol y cae. Mae’r cyd rheolwr, Osian Roberts, yn gweld dyfodiad Paul Friel fel trosglwyddiad arwyddocaol i’r clwb a bod gan y chwaraewr ifanc gyfraniad pwysig i’w wneud yn natblygiad y clwb. Roedd ymadawiad Neil Thomas, ar ôl arhosiad byr, wedi tanlinellu’r angen am chwaraewr i ennill y bêl yng nghanol y cae ac un sydd hefyd yn dosbarthu yn gywir o safle canolog. Awgryma’r gêm ddydd Sadwrn yn Port Talbot mai’r myfyriwr, sydd yn astudio am Radd Uwch ym Mangor, ydy’r un i gyflawni hyn. Yn Iwerddon, fe gynrychiolodd Finn Harps y clwb o Donegal. Fe all ei ddyfodiad ryddhau Gareth Parry i chwarae rôl rhydd fwy ymosodol o ganol cae. Edrychwn ymlaen i weld y bartneriaeth newydd yn datblygu. Paul Friel made his debut for Port on Saturday after transferring from Bangor City at the end of the week. Friel played for the full 90 minutes and, considering that he had not even trained with his new team mates, slotted in well in the centre of midfield. Joint-manager Osian Roberts sees his arrival as a significant signing for the club and feels that he has an important contribution to make in the continuing development of the team. The departure of Neil Thomas, after only a brief stay, has highlighted the need for a ball winner and an accurate distributor in the central position. Saturday’s game at Port Talbot suggests that the young Masters’ student, with experience in the League of Ireland, can fulfil this role. In Ireland, he played for Finn Harps, the Donegal based club. His arrival may also allow Gareth Parry to play a freer, more attacking role in midfield. We look forward to seeing this new midfield pairing performing together. 20/01/06 Paul Friel o Fangor yn arwyddo? / Bangor's Paul Friel to sign? Mae yna drafod brwd ar wefan Mike Smith (‘Citizen’s Choice’) yn honni bod chwaraewr canol cae Bangor, Paul Friel wedi arwyddo i Port. Mae Friel yn dod o Iwerddon ac yn fyfyriwr yn ei flwyddyn olaf ym Mhrifysgol Bangor. Cyn dod i Gymru, roedd yn chwarae i Finn Harps yng Nghynghrair Iwerddon. Speculation is rife on Mike Smith’s ‘Citizen’s Choice’ site that Bangor City midfielder Paul Friel is signing for Port. Friel, from Ireland, is a student in his final year at University College Bangor and has also played for League of Ireland club Finn Harps. 19/01/06 Paul Roberts i ddychwelyd? / Paul Roberts to return? Fel y datgelom yn gynt yn yr wythnos, mae Viv yn awyddus i gryfhau’r garfan, ac yn bwriadu rhoi rhybudd 7 diwrnod ar ddau chwaraewr. Yn ôl gwefan welsh-premier.com un o’r enwau sy’n cael ei gysylltu gyda Port yw ymosodwr Bangor, Paul Roberts. Sgoriodd Roberts 11 o goliau mewn 12 gêm i Port yn nhymor 96/97 cyn symud i Wrecsam am £15,000. Mae Roberts wedi sgorio 10 gôl i Fangor y tymor hwn, gan gynnwys 2 yn erbyn Port i roi buddugoliaeth 2-1 i Fangor. Hyd yn hyn, nid yw Viv Williams wedi datgelu pa chwaraewyr mae’n awyddus i’w harwyddo. As we revealed earlier in the week, Viv is keen to strengthen the squad, and is hoping to put in seven-day notices on two players. According to the welsh-premier.com website one of the names being connected with Port is Bangor striker, Paul Roberts. Roberts scored 11 goals in 12 matches for Port in the 96/97 season, before moving to Wrexham for £15,000. Roberts has scored 10 goals for Bangor this season, including 2 goals against Port that gave Bangor a 2-1 victory. As yet, Viv has not revealed which players he is keen to sign. 19/01/06 Dyddiad i'r gêm Cwpan Ieuenctid. / Date for Youth Cup match. Deellir bod dyddiad y gem, yng Nghwpan Ieuenctid Cymru, rhwng Port ac Aberystwyth bellach wedi’i bennu ar gyfer Chwefror 4ydd gyda’r gic gyntaf, ar Y Traeth, am 2 o’r gloch. Bydd hyn yn rhoi pen ar y saga sydd wedi cymryd lle tu ôl i’r llenni gydag Aberystwyth, yn wahanol i glybiau eraill mae Port wedi’u cyfarfod, yn mynnu i’r gêm gael ei chwarae ar ddydd Sadwrn -gan nad oedd eu chwaraewyr yn barod i chwarae ar ddydd Sul nag yn barod i deithio yng nghanol wythnos! It is now understood that the Welsh Youth Cup tie between Port and Aberystwyth has been fixed for February 4th with the kick off, at the Traeth, at 2 p.m. This brings to a close a saga that has gone on behind the scenes with Aberystwyth, in contrast to other clubs Port have met, insisting that the game take place on a Saturday -as their players are not able to play on a Sunday and are not prepared to travel during mid-week! 18/01/06 Ad-drefnu Gemau. / Fixture Change Gan fod Bangor yn dal yng Nghwpan Cymru, ni chwaraeir y gêm gynghrair ar Ffordd Ffarar rhwng Bangor a Port ar Chwefror 3ydd. Yn lle hyn, bydd Port yn ymweld â’r brifddinas ar ddydd Sadwrn Chwefror 4ydd i chwarae Cwins y Grange. Felly. bydd Port yn chwarae gemau gefn wrth gefn yn erbyn y clwb o Gaerdydd gan fod y Cwins yn ymweld â’r Traeth ar Ionawr 28ain. Ar hyn o bryd, mae gan Port dair o gêmau i’w had-drefnu sef y gemau i ffwrdd yn erbyn Bangor a Llanelli a’r gêm adref yn erbyn Caerfyrddin. Gohiriwyd y gêm wreiddiol yn erbyn Caerfyrddin er mwyn cwblhau gêm yng Nghwpan Cenedlaethol y BBC. The game between Port and Bangor City due to be played at Farrar Road on February 3rd is to be re-arranged as Bangor will be playing a Welsh Cup tie on that weekend. Port will instead be in the capital city for a re-arranged match against Grange Quins. Port will therefore be playing back to back matches against the club from Cardiff as the Quins will be at the Traeth on Saturday, January 28th. This means that Port have three fixtures to be re-arranged. These are the away games in Bangor and Llanelli and also the home game against Carmarthen. The latter game was postponed so that a Premier Cup tie could be completed against the same club. 18/01/06 Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru. / Welsh Youth Cup. Mae Port ac Aberystwyth i fod i gyfarfod yng Nghwpan Ieuenctid Cymru ar ddydd Sadwrn Ionawr 28ain ar Y Traeth. Ond ar y dyddiad yma, mae gan Port gêm gynghrair yn erbyn Cwins y Grange hefyd ar Y Traeth. Fel arfer yn y gorffennol, pan fu problem debyg, mae’r gemau wedi’u had-drefnu ar gyfer y Sul canlynol. Hyd yma, nid oes dyddiad wedi’i gytuno rhwng y ddau glwb gydag Aberystwyth yn gwrthod unrhyw gynnig i newid y dyddiad gan fynnu bod y gêm yn cael ei chwarae ar ddydd Sadwrn. Maent wedi troi i lawr nifer o ddyddiau Sul a hefyd ddyddiadau yn yr wythnos. Mae’r sefyllfa yn eich hatgoffa o’r math o ymddygiad sydd yn gyffredin gan rai clybiau yng Nghwpan Her Arfordir y Gogledd ac sydd yn y broses wedi difetha’r gystadleuaeth honno. Port and Aberystwyth are due to meet in a Welsh Youth Cup tie at the Traeth on Saturday, January 28th. However, on that date, Port have a Welsh Premier fixture at the Traeth against Grange Quins. In the past, when a problem of this sort has occurred the games have been re-arranged by mutual consent for the following day. To date, the clubs have failed to reach agreement, with Aberystwyth insisting that the game takes place on the Saturday. They have turned down various Sunday and midweek dates. The situation is a reminder of the type of thing which has arisen time and again in the North Wales Coast Challenge Cup and has resulted in that competition’s complete loss of credibility. 18/01/06 Cynghrair dan-21 / Under-21 League Er na fwriadwyd i’r gemau yn y gynghrair dan-21 ail gychwyn tan Chwefror 22ain daeth cais oddi wrth Uwch Gynghrair Cymru i Port geisio ad-drefnu rhai o’r gemau, a ohiriwyd yng nghynt yn y tymor, yn ystod yr wythnosau ar ddiwedd Ionawr a dechrau Chwefror. Am amrywiol rhesymau ni chwblhawyd y gêmau yn erbyn Y Drenewydd, TNS na’r Trallwng. Pan fydd newyddion i law am y dyddiadau newydd byddwn yn eu cyhoeddi ar y wefan. The Under-21 League is not due to re-commence until February 22nd but Port have been requested by the Welsh Premier League to try and re-arrange some of the postponed and abandoned matches for the end of January and early February. For a variety of reasons the fixtures against Newtown, TNS and Welshpool were not played or not completed. When the re-arranged dates are to hand they will appear on the website. 16/01/06 Cryfhau'r Garfan? / Strengthening the Squad? Datgelodd Viv, yn rhaglen gêm Derwyddon Cefn ddydd Sadwrn, ei fod wedi rhoi rhybudd saith niwrnod ar ddau o chwaraewyr gyda’r bwriad o gryfhau’r garfan yn dilyn rhediad braidd yn siomedig yn arwain fyny at y fuddugoliaeth glir yn erbyn y Derwyddon ddydd Sadwrn. Nid yw’n barod i enwi enwau ar hyn o bryd, gan ddweud y bydd yn rhaid inni aros i weld beth fydd yn digwydd dros y dyddiau nesaf. Mae’n dweud ei fod yn edrych am chwaraewyr gyda phrofiad a gallu ond mae’n cyfaddef fod hi’n anodd i glwb fel Port ddenu chwaraewyr â phrofiad yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru oherwydd bod y math yma o chwaraewr yn tueddu i ofyn am fwy o arian na all Port ei fforddio. Viv revealed, in the Cefn Druids match programme, that he had put in a seven day notice on a couple of players in order to strengthen the squad. This follows a rather disappointing series of results prior to the convincing victory against Cefn Druids on Saturday. He is not prepared to name names at this stage stating that we would have to wait and see what happens during the next few days. He says that he is searching for players with the experience and skill to do a job for the club but confesses that it is difficult for Port to attract players with experience of the Welsh Premier because such players tend to ask for more money than Port are able to afford. 10/01/06 Cei Connah yn y Gwpan Her / Connah's Quay in the Challenge Cup. Mae’r enwau wedi’u tynnu o’r het ar gyfer pedwaredd rownd Cwpan Her Arfordir Gogledd Cymru Amicus, ac mae Port yn wynebu gêm yn erbyn tim arall o’r Uwch Gyngrair. Y gwrthwynebwyr fydd Cei Connah, sydd wedi gwella yn y gynghrair ar ôl dechrau gwan. Gem arall o ddiddordeb lleol yw hono rhwng Rhyl a Phwllheli. Bydd y gemau’n cael eu chwarae cyn Chwefror 11. The draw has been made for the fourth round of the Amicus North Wales Coast Challenge Cup, and Port face an encounter with another Welsh Premier team. The opponents are Connah’s Quay Nomads, who have improved after a weak start in the league. Another game of local interest is the one between Rhyl and Pwllheli. The games will be played before February 11. 22/12/05 Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru / Welsh Youth Cup Yn dilyn eu buddugoliaeth yn erbyn Y Trallwng yn ail rownd Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru, gwrthwynebwyr Port, ar y Traeth, yn y drydedd rownd fydd Aberystwyth. Chwaraeir y gemau yn y drydedd rownd ar ddydd Sadwrn, Ionawr 28ain. Following their win against Welshpool Town in the second round of the Welsh Youth Cup, Port have been drawn at home in the third round and will meet Aberystwyth Town. The third round matches are due to be played on Saturday 28th January 2006. 22/12/05 Neil yn dychwelyd i Stebo' / Neil returns to Stebo' Mae’r chwaraewr canol cae Neil Thomas wedi gadael Port i ail-ymuno efo Llanelli ychydig dros ddeufis ar ôl gadael Stebonheath am y Traeth. Mae Neil wedi gorfod symud yn ôl a blaen rhwng de a gogledd sawl gwaith oherwydd ei waith gyda’r RAF. Treuliodd gyfnod byr gyda Banogr y tymor diwethaf, cyn gorfod symud yn ôl i Lanelli oherwydd ymrwymiadau gwaith yn RAF San Tathan. Roedd Neil wedi methu’r tair gêm diwethaf oherwydd gwaharddiad wrth chwarae i Lanrug lle'r oedd wedi arwyddo ffurflenni ail glwb. Midfielder Neil Thomas has left Port to re-join Llanelli a little over two months after leaving Stebonheath for Y Traeth. Neil has had to move back and forth from north to south on many occasions because of his work with the RAF. He joined Bangor for a short spell last season, before having to return to Llanelli because of work commitments at RAF St Athan. Neil had missed the last three matches for Port because of a suspension he received playing for Llanrug where he had signed second club forms. |
