Cynhadledd Hyfforddi UEFA / UEFA Coaching Conference

Saesneg / English.

Yn ddiweddar bu hyfforddwr Port, Osian Roberts yn cynrychioi Cymru mewn cynhadledd rhyngwladol yn y Swistir. Yn ogystal a hyfforddi Port mae Osian yn gweithio gyda Uned Datblygu Chwaraeon Ynys Môn yn ei waith bob dydd. Cynhaliwyd Cynhadledd Bêl-droed UEFA yn Nyon. Pwrpas y gynhadledd oedd meithrin talent ifanc gyda chynrychiolwyr o wahanol wledydd yn rhannu syniadau ynglŷn â sut i wella safon chwarae ac hyfforddi.

Gwelai Osian hwn yn gyfle delfrydol i ddysgu o brofiadau gwledydd eraill sy’n debyg i Gymru yn nhermau daearyddiaeth ac adnoddau. Anhawster mwyaf chwaraewyr talentog yng Ngogledd Cymru ydy’r pellter o glybiau proffesiynol neu o Gaerdydd lle cynhelir llawer o wieithgareddau hyfforddi. "Mae’n bosib’ fod gwledydd eraill wedi canfod ffyrdd o ddelio efo’r sefyllfa," meddai.

"Mae gennyf ddiddordeb hefyd mewn darganfod sut mae gwledydd fel Groeg (pencampwyr newydd Ewrop) a’r Swistir wedi llwyddo i godi safon ei pêldroed yn aruthrol yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf." ychwanegodd.

Mae Osian yn dal trwydded hyfforddi safon ‘A’ UEFA ac wedi hyfforddi carfannau dan 17oed ac 19 oed Cymru. Ei obaith rwan yw sicrhau trwydded UEFA ‘Pro-Licence’ sef cymhwyster hyfforddi uchaf Ewrop sydd ond ar gael drwy wahoddiad arbennig. Fel rhan o rhaglen y cwrs hwn bydd Osian ac hyfforddwyr eraill yn cyfarfod yn rheolaidd dros gyfnod o 18-mis.

Pedwar ar ddeg o hyfforddwyr yng Ngwledydd Prydain sydd wedi’u gwahodd i gymryd rhan yn y rhaglen hyfforddi ag ymysg yr hyfforddwyr eraill fydd yn ymuno ag Osian mae Ian Rush, Lennie Lawrence, rheolwr Caerdydd, a Mickey Adams, rheolwr Caerlŷr a chyn reolwr Abertawe.

English

Port coach, Osian Roberts has recently represented Wales at an international conference in Switzerland. In addition to coaching Port Osian, in his daily work, heads the Sports Development Unit for Anglesey. The UEFA Coference was held at Nyon and it’s purpose was to pool ideas from various countries on ways in which playing and coaching standards can be improved.

Osian sees this as an ideal opportunity to learn from the experiences of other countries with similar geographical and resource problems. The main difficulty faced by young talented players from north Wales is the distance from professional clubs and from Cardiff where many coaching activities take place. "It is possible," he says, "that other countries have found ways of dealing with the problem."

"In addition I am interested in discovering how countries such as Greece –the European Champions- and Switzerland have been able to raise their standards so significantly in the last few seasons."

Osian holds an UEFA ‘A’ coaching licence and has coached the Welsh under-17 and under-19 squads. He now aims to gain his UEFA Pro-licence which is Europe’s highest coaching qualification and can only be achieved in response to an invitation. In order to gain this qualification Osian together with other coaches will meet regularly over a period of 18-months.

Osian is one of only 14 coaches from the Britain who have accepted an invitation to take part. Others include Ian Rush, Cardiff City manager Lennie Lawrence, and Leicester City and former Swansea manager Mickey Adams.
