Y Tymor Hyd Yma
Erbyn hyn rydym wedi chwarae hanner ein gêmau am y tymor ac wedi ennill 24 pwynt o 17 o gêmau. O’r deunaw gêm a gollwyd y tymor diwethaf, dim ond un gôl o wahaniaeth oedd yn nifer fawr o’r gemau. Y tymor hwn, mae’r colledion wedi ‘u troi yn gêmau cyfartal. Mae’r gwelliant sylweddol hwn wedi digwydd heb wneud newidiadau i’r garfan - heblaw am ychwanegu Owain Roberts. Y tymor yma, gwelwn fod y gynghrair wedi eu rhannu yn dair gyda’r saith clwb gorau yn agor bwlch o bum pwynt ar y gweddill. Y timau a fyddech yn disgwyl eu gweld yw’r mwyafrif yn y grŵp yma. Mae ganddynt chwaraewyr o safon i fynd efo’u hadnoddau.

Wedyn mae yna grŵp o bum clwb, gan gynnwys Porthmadog, sydd wedi agor bwlch o naw pwynt dros y chwe clwb sydd ar hyn o bryd y cwffio i osgoi disgyn allan o’r brif adran. Felly, mae codi pwyntiau yn erbyn timau fel Aberystwyth yn holl bwysig. Wrth gwrs, ‘da ni eisoes wedi curo dau glwb o’r grŵp uchaf, sef Bangor a Chaerfyrddin a mae hyn yn tanlinellu’r datblygiad sydd wedi bod eleni. Ein prif nôd rŵan ydy sicrhau lle yn y Gwpan Cenedlaethol. Gall yr elw sydd ar gael wneud gwahaniaeth mawr i glwb bychan fel Porthmadog.

Yr hyn sydd yn ddiddorol iawn yw sylwi yr effaith fyddai sgorio chwe gôl ychwanegol wedi ei gael gan y byddai wedi ein rhoi ymysg y grŵp uchaf o glybiau. Dyna fyddai’r unig feirniadaeth go iawn y tymor hwn -ein methiant i gymryd mantais o’r cyfleoedd a grëwyd. Felly, byddai’r adroddiad ganol tymor yn dweud –gwelliant amlwg ond angen sgorio fwy o goliau.

Cawlach y Cerdyn Coch
Gair yn fyr am y digwyddiadau yn y Trallwng yr wythnos ddiwethaf. Er fy mod yn gyndyn o feirniadu dyfarnwyr, gwnaeth Mr H. Jones gamgymeriad difrifol wrth yrru Gareth Parry o’r cae. Cytunodd y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed mai achos o gam adnabod ydoedd a throsglwyddwyd y cerdyn coch i Owain Roberts. Yn fy marn i, nid oedd y dacl yn haeddu cerdyn coch. Roedd mainc y Trallwng, ar ôl y gêm yn cytuno – ond erbyn hynny roedd yn rhy hwyr. Roedd ond yn deg i’r clwb apelio er mwyn cywiro’r sefyllfa. Er hynny, mae’n dristwch inni nad ydym yn medru dewis Owain gan ei fod wedi gwneud yn dda iawn ers dod i’r tîm.

Ar ran CPD Porthmadog, carwn ddymuno Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i’n cefnogwyr ac edrychwn ymlaen at flwyddyn lewyrchus iawn i’r clwb yn 2005. Diolch am eich cefnogaeth.

The Season so far
We have now played half our games this season and have gained 24 pts from 17 games. Of the 18 games we lost last season, a substantial number were by the odd goal. We have changed those losses into draws this season. That marked improvement has been achieved with virtually the same squad as last season, apart from Owain Roberts. This season, the league has formed into three separate mini leagues. The top seven clubs have built up a five point lead. Most of the teams in the top group are the ones you would expect to see there as they have quality players to go with the resources.

Then there is a group of five clubs, which includes Porthmadog, in mid-table who have opened a nine point gap on the six teams who are currently in the relegation dog-fight. Picking up points against other mid-table sides, like Aberystwyth, is very important. We have, of course, beaten two of the sides in the top group, namely Bangor and Carmarthen and this underlines our development this season. Our main aim must now be to qualify for the lucrative Premier Cup next season. The money up for grabs could make a massive difference to a small club like Porthmadog.

What is really interesting is that, with six extra goals, we could well be in the top group of clubs. That would be our only real criticism this season, that we have not converted enough of the chances we have created. So our mid-term report would read – a marked improvement but need to score a few more.

Red Card Muddle
A brief word about the goings on at Welshpool last week. I am loathe to criticise referees but Mr. H Jones did make a grave error in sending Gareth Parry off. I felt he wanted to send someone from each side off in order to even things out. The FAW have now agreed that it was a case of mistaken identity and the red card has been transferred to Owain Roberts. That card was rather harsh as his tackle, in my view, did not deserve a straight red. The Welshpool bench was in agreement after the game but, by then, it was too late. It was only right that the club appealed to correct the situation. I am saddened however to be unable to play Owain who has done well since coming into the side.

On behalf of Porthmadog FC I wish you all a Happy New Year and let’s hope for a prosperous and successful 2005 for the club. Thanks for your continued support.
