Port v Airbus UK - 1/03/03

Warm welcome to Y Traeth for this afternoon's Cymru Alliance League encounter against Airbus UK. It seems an awful long time ago since we visited Airbus back in August last year to play in the League Cup. That was our only meeting this season so far. We ran out 4-2 winners that day but the Planemakers have put some good performances in since then and now sit in sixth position in the table. I remember that match well as I had to deputize in goal for some 20 minutes - I kept a clean sheet as well! I am sure Airbus will provide us with a stiff test today and let's hope that we can get three more points.

There still remains a third of the season to go, a lot can happen in twelve games. However we are in a wonderful position, starting March with only one defeat all season. However it is very noticeable that clubs now seem to be raising their games when they play us. They all seem desperate to be the first team to beat us and therefore that makes things hard for us. What is particularly pleasing is the response from our lads which has been excellent. They scrap for everything even when they are finding it hard to play their normal game. It is a real credit to them that they are keeping this great run going.

Last Saturday's win at Lex was made doubly pleasing as all the other clubs in the chasing pack dropped points, probably the best set of results for us all season. I am sure that many of you have been doing your sums in the light of those results. If Buckley and Llandudno win all their remaining matches they could reach 77 points. So simply, we need 22 more points to win the title, that is 7 wins and a draw from I 2 matches. It sounds simple when you put it like that but I know that we have many tough games ahead including trips to both Buckley and Llandudno. We only have 4 home games left and 8 away so that will make things all the harder. No team is going to make it easy for us so we will have to fight all the way.

It is nice to hear from the Board that the seating and the fencing have been ordered and are expected to be fitted during April. Work on the dressing room is also going ahead.

Finally just to update you that at the time of going to press there remained no word on the Richard Harvey situation. Since more clubs have now been dragged into the controversy I suppose further investigations have proved necessary, and we still await word from the FAW as to what will happen next.

Enjoy the game and thanks for your support.
