Port v Airbus 20/08/05 (English) Bob Havelock Carwn wneud sylw am y newyddion trist a dderbyniwyd yn ystod yr wythnosau diwethaf ynglyn â marwolaeth disymwth Bob Havelock cyn gadeirydd y clwb. Mae ei gofadail o’n cwmpas inni i gyd ei weld. Mae ei flynyddoedd o waith caled yma ar y Traeth yn aros yn deyrnged iddo. Byddaf o hyd yn ddiolchgar iddo am ei gefnogaeth diflino i Osian a minnau yn ystod ein hamser gyda’r clwb. Hyd yn oed yn ystod y cyfnod cynnar, pan nad oedd pethau bob amser yn dilyn y cynllun a fwriadwyd ar eu cyfer, arhosodd yn gant y cant gefnogol. Ar fy rhan i ac Osian a’r chwaraewyr i gyd, estynnaf ein cydymdeimlad â Josie, Jimmy, Pete a Robert a’r teulu i gyd yn eu colled. Gwelliannau ‘Rwy’n siwr y byddai Bob wedi’i blesio gyda’r holl welliannau a wnaed yma yn ystod yr haf. Yn ogystal â gwella safon y goleuadau, mae gwaith wedi’i wneud ar y cae , mae pyst gôl newydd wedi cyrraedd a’r cae ei hun wedi’i gwtogi ychydig fel ymateb i gonsyrn awdurdodau’r gynghrair fod y wal o gwmpas y cae a peilonau’r goleuadau yn rhy agos i’r maes chwarae. Mae’r cantîn a’r siop wedi’i adnewyddu a’r holl waith trydan wedi’i uwchraddio’n llwyr. Nid yw’r holl newidiadau i gyd yn rhai amlwg i’r cefnogwyr ond byddant yn sicr o wella bywyd i bawb. Unwaith eto, rhaid rhoi clod i grwp bychan o gyfarwyddwyr a gwirfoddolwyr sydd wedi gweithio’n ddygn drwy’r haf ar y prosiectau hyn yn ogystal â chodi arian i’r clwb. Os oes unrhyw un a fedr ysgafnhau’r baich hwn, dewch ymlaen a chynigwch eich cymorth. Y Garfan Ar y cae, mae paratoadau at y tymor wedi mynd yn dda gyda’r chwaraewyr newydd, Richard Harvey, Rhys Roberts, James Parry a Les Davies yn ffitio i mewn yn dda gyda gweddill y garfan. Yr hyn ‘da ni wedi’i wneud ydy dod â chwaraewyr ifanc i mewn sydd â rhywbeth i’w brofi. ‘Roedd yn siom i golli Gerard McGuigan i’r Rhyl ac i golli John Gwynfor Jones oherwydd ymrwymiadau teuluol a gwaith. Mae Dafydd Evans hefyd wedi gadael ar ôl rhoi blynyddoedd o wasanaeth da. Diolch i’r tri am yr holl a wnaethon dros y clwb yn ystod eu hamser yma. Buom bron â cholli Lee Webber hefyd yn ystod yr haf ond, ar ôl un sesiwn ymarfer gyda’r Trallwng, sylweddol nad hwn oedd y symudiad iawn iddo ac mae wedi penderfynu aros gyda Porthmadog er bod y clwb o’r canolbarth wedi cynnig mwy o arian iddo. Dengys hyn nad arian ydy’r ffactor bwysicaf bob amser i chwaraewyr. Nid yw cynnig arian mawr i chwaraewyr yn rhan o’n bwriadau ni ond credwn fod y chwaraewyr newydd â’r gallu i wella’r garfan. Y tymor hwn, anelwn at fwy o gysondeb yn ein perfformiadau a gobeithiwn am rediad go lew yn un o’r cystadlaethau cwpan. (Ond nid yng Nghwpan Loosemore!! Gol.) Diolch eto am eich cefnogaeth cyson. Port v Airbus 20/08/05 Bob Havelock I would like to mention the sad news the club received during the past few weeks regarding the untimely death of the club’s former chairman Bob Havelock. His legacy is all around for us to see. His years of hard work here at the Traeth remain a fitting testimony to him. I will always be grateful to him for the unstinting support both Osian and myself received from him during our time at the club. Even early on when things did not always go according to plan he remained 100% supportive. On behalf of myself, Osian and all the players I would like to extend our condolences to Josie, Jimmy, Pete and Robert and all the family in their loss. Ground Improvements I am sure that Bob would have been pleased with all the improvements that have been carried out here over the summer. Apart from the upgrade of the floodlights, work has been carried out on the pitch, new goals erected and the pitch reduced slightly following concerns from the league that the perimeter wall and the floodlight pylons on the main stand side were too close to the playing area. The canteen and shop have both received a make-over and the electrics at the ground have been completely upgraded. Many of the improvements will not be readily visible to you the spectators but will certainly improve matters at the ground for all concerned. Once again immense credit goes to the small band of directors and volunteers who have been working hard all summer on these projects as well as raising funds for the club. If any of you can ease the burden on these few then please do come forward and offer your assistance. The Squad On the pitch the pre-season has gone well and the new signings, Richard Harvey, Rhys Roberts, James Parry and Les Davies have jelled well with the rest of the squad. What we have done is bring on good young players who all have something to prove. It was disappointing to lose Gerard McGuigan to Rhyl and to lose John Gwynfor Jones due to family and work commitments. Dafydd Evans has also given the club many years of sterling service. Thanks to all three for all they have done during their time at the club. We almost lost Lee Webber during the summer as well, but following one training session with Welshpool he decided that the move was not for him, deciding instead to stay with Porthmadog despite the offer of more money from the mid Wales club. It shows that money is not always the deciding factor for players. We are not in the game of offering big money to players but I believe that the players we have drafted in will improve us. This season we will be hoping for more consistency in our performances and hopefully a good run in one of the cup competitions. (Not the Loosemore Cup!! ed.) Thanks again for your continued support. |
