Porthmadog v Caernarfon 25/03/06 (English)

Canlyniadau diweddar
Mae’r canlyniadau diweddaraf wedi cadw ni mewn cysylltiad er mwyn ymdrechu am le yn y deg uchaf (Cyn Caernarfon? Gol.) Gyda saith gêm yn weddill ond gyda’r mwyafrif yn edrych yn anodd mae gennym siawns o hyd. Ond gyda ond dwy o’r gemau i’w chwarae ar Y Traeth, rhaid cofio nad ydym wedi disgleirio mewn gemau i ffwrdd. Mae’n ddiddorol edrych ar y tabl ar y funud gyda’r saith pwynt diweddar wedi sicrhau ein bod wedi ymbellhau o’r ddau ar y gwaelod a hyn yn golygu nad ydym yn mynd i fod mewn brwydr i osgoi mynd i lawr. Erbyn hyn, rydym yn edrych yn weddol gyfforddus.

Oes yna ddatblygiad?
Ar ddechrau bob tymor byddwn yn targedu pwynt y gêm ac eleni wedi llwyddo i wneud hyn gyda 8 gêm yn weddill. Mae’n ddiddorol hefyd cymharu eleni gyda’r ddau dymor blaenorol. Y llynedd, enillwyd 11 gêm ac yn y tymor blaenorol hefyd. Yn y tymor cyntaf, ildiwyd 55 o goliau gan sgorio ond 41 tra y tymor diwethaf dim ond 39 o goliau a ildiwyd mewn 34 gêm ond yn sgorio 38 yn unig. Y tymor hwn mae 45 o goliau wedi’u sgorio eisoes -yn bell ar y blaen i’r gorau ers dychwelyd i’r gynghrair hon- ond mae gormod wedi mynd i rwyd Port hefyd. Y rheswm pennaf am hyn ydy’r holl newidiadau a orfodwyd arnom y tymor hwn. Ar yr ochr gadarnhaol, mae John Gwynfor yn ôl yn y garfan a nifer o’r ail dîm wedi cael cyfle ac wedi perfformio’n dda.

Edrych at y dyfodol
Wrth edrych at y dyfodol, mae gennym y defnydd, sef y chwaraewyr, ac maent yn gwella drwy’r adeg. Cadarnhawyd yn ystod y dyddiau diwethaf fod pump o chwaraewyr wedi arwyddo cytundebau estynedig sydd yn rhoi seiliau da ar gyfer y tymor nesaf. Rhaid sicrhau ein bod yn cadw at y safonau sydd wedi’u gosod a gweithio’n galed i wella arnynt ac rwy’n hyderus fod blynyddoedd gorau y chwaraewyr yma i ddod ac yma ar Y Traeth y gwelwn hwy. Yn naturiol fydd Osian a minnau yn hapus i aros gyda’r clwb at y tymor nesaf gan nad oes pwrpas mewn arwyddo chwaraewyr heb wneud yr un ymrwymiad eich hun. Diolch i waith caled aelodau’r bwrdd, mae’r clwb yn datblygu a mae Osian a minnau yn teimlo fod rhaid inni weithio er mwyn rhoi rhywbeth yn ôl er mwyn sicrhau dyfodol llewyrchus i’r clwb. Ni fu unrhyw bwysau afresymol arnom i sicrhau canlyniadau da ond mae’r hyn a lwyddom i gyflawni yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf wedi’i wneud heb wario arian gwirion. Yn lle hynny, buom yn chwilio am chwaraewyr ifanc efo potensial gan ychwanegu un neu ddau o chwaraewyr profiadol atynt. Dyma’r hyn y byddwn yn dal ati i wneud.

Diolch am eich cefnogaeth.

Recent results
Recent results have kept us in touch with the pace for a top ten finish (before Caernarfon? Ed.). With seven games left and most of them very tough looking we are still in with a chance. However only two of those seven are at home and our form away from Y Traeth has not been the best. It is interesting to see the current table and the seven points from three games has seen us pull away from the bottom two and ensured that we do not become embroiled in a relegation dog fight. Now we look quite comfortable.

How do we compare?
At the start of the season we target a point a game and we have achieved that with 8 games to spare. It is interesting to compare this season with the previous two seasons. We won eleven games last season and the season before. In the first season we conceded 55 goals and only scored 41 while last season we only conceded 39 goals in 34 games but only scored 38. This season however we have scored 45 goals already –well ahead of our best since our return- but we have let in a few too many as well. This is primarily down to the numerous changes we have been forced to make during the season. On the positive side we have John Gwynfor Jones back in the squad and a number of the reserves have had an opportunity and have done well.

Looking to the future.
Looking to the future, the tools, namely the players are here and are improving all the time. As we have confirmed in the last couple of days five players have signed extended deals which gives the club a good foundation for next season. We have to make sure we keep to the standards we have already set and work to improve them and I am confident all the players who have signed have their best years ahead of them and that those will be here at Y Traeth. Naturally both Osian and I are happy to remain with the club for next season. There is clearly no point in signing players without making the same commitment ourselves. It is a great credit to the committed board members that the club is making good progress and both Osian and I feel that we have to work hard to give something back and ensure a bright and prosperous future for the club. There has been no overbearing pressure on us for results and what we have done over the past few years we have done without throwing money at it. Rather we have looked around for young talented players with potential and draft in one or two more experienced players. This is what we propose to continue doing.

Thanks again for your support.
