Port v Caersws 08/10/05 (English) Trefniadau Gwael Rwy’n ddiolchgar i’r pump ohonoch am ddod i’r gêm Uwch Gynghrair Cymru y pnawn ’ma!! Ond i fod o ddifri, gwiriondeb ydy chwarae ar yr un adeg ag y mae Cymru â gêm rhagbrofol Cwpan y Byd. Roedd gêmau Cymru yn hysbys ddeunaw mis yn ôl a dylai gêmau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru gael eu trefnu nid mewn cystadleuaeth a hwy ond o’u cwmpas. Hyd yma, mae’r gefnogaeth wedi bod yn rhagorol ond ofnaf y bydd heddiw yn stori bur wahanol. Mae arian trwy’r clwydi yn ffynhonnell ariannol bwysig i bob clwb ond mae cael sefyllfa lle mae’n rhaid dewis rhwng clwb a gwlad yn ergyd arall i glybiau sydd yn gorfod brwydro i gadw’u pennau uwchben y dwr. Anafiadau Newyddion cymysg sydd ynglyn ag anafiadau. Fel rwyf wedi crybwyll eisoes, bydd James Parry allan am sawl mis gyda niwed i’r ligament yn ei ben glin. Bydd Gareth Caughter yn annhebygol o chwarae tan ar ôl y Nadolig oherwydd anaf drwg i’w ffêr. Ni fydd Jonathan Peris ar gael am tua bythefnos arall ond mae Gareth Parry wedi cychwyn ymarfer eto. O ganlyniad i’r anafiadau hyn, bu’n rhaid inni ychwanegu at y garfan. Chwaraewyr Newydd Bydd dau chwaraewr newydd yn ymddangos heddiw. Rym wedi arwyddo Neil Thomas, a wnaeth gymaint o argraff i Lanelli yn ystod y tymor diwethaf, a enillodd gwobr chwaraewr y mis cyn symud i glwb Bangor. Hogyn lleol ydy Neil a bydd yn ychwanegiad defnyddiol i’r garfan. Hefyd mae Jason Harvey, a fu i ffwrdd yn yr Unol Daleithiau, wedi’i arwyddo. Mae Jason yn awyddus i ail afael mewn gyrfa pêl droed a, chan ei fod yn chwaraewr ymosodol cyffrous, bydd yn rhoi dimensiwn ychwanegol i’r tîm. Mae’r ddau chwaraewr yma yn cydymffurfio a’n meini prawf ni o rhoi cyfle i chwaraewyr lleol yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Sylweddola chwaraewyr fwyfwy fod Porthmadog yn barod i roi’r cyfle iddynt nad oes bob amser ar gael mewn mannau eraill. Cafodd y chwaraewyr sydd eisoes gyda ni rediad da yn y tîm a chyfle i ddangos beth fedrant wneud ac, o ganlyniad, maent wedi gwella a datblygu. Mae llawer o’r chwaraewyr yma –gyda Lee Webber yn esiampl berffaith- wedi cael cynigion gan glybiau eraill ond wedi penderfynu aros yma am eu bod yn gwerthfawrogi’r hyder a ddangoswyd ynddynt. Nid yw bob clwb yn barod i ddangos amynedd ac mae ambell reolwr o dan bwysau i sicrhau llwyddiant dros nos. Noddwyr Nid ydym yn y sefyllfa lle medrwn gynnal carfan fawr gan fodloni pob un am nad oes gennym noddwr cyfoethog i agor ei waled. Mae noddwyr yn bwysig i’r gynghrair ond rhaid iddynt fod yn gynaliadwy gan nad ydym eisiau Barri arall. Cred Osian a minnau ein bod yn araf ond yn gyson yn symud y clwb i’r cyfeiriad iawn. Mae’r clwb ar seiliau cadarn ac mae llawer o bethau positif yn digwydd. Rydym wedi ysgwyd ychydig ar bethau eleni ond teimlwn fod y datblygiad yn gynaliadwy wrth ddatblygu talent ifanc lleol a fydd yn rhoi dyfodol cadarn i’r clwb. Rydym yn dal i annog y goreuon ymysg y chwaraewyr ifanc lleol i ddod i’r sesiynau ymarfer ac mae Carwyn Edwards ac Arwel Evans wedi ymuno â ni yn ddiweddar ac yn dangos addewid. Gobeithio wnaiff hyn barhau. Daliwch i gredu. Port v Caersws 08/10/05 Crazy Fixture I am grateful to all five of you for turning up for this afternoon’s Welsh Premier match!! Seriously though it is crazy that we should be playing at the same time as Wales are playing a World Cup qualifier. Surely the Wales fixtures were known 18 months ago and Welsh Premier matches should be scheduled around them and not in direct competition. Our attendances so far this season have been excellent but I fear that today will be a different story. Gate money is an important source of income for all clubs and having this club versus country situation is just another blow for hard up clubs. Injuries On the injury front it is mixed news I’m afraid. As I have mentioned previously James Parry will be out for a number of months with knee ligament damage. Gareth Caughter is unlikely to play until after Christmas as he recovers from a nasty ankle injury. Jonathan Peris is a couple of weeks away from playing as well, but Gareth Parry is back in training. As a result of this spate of injuries we have to bolster the squad. Signings Two new signings will be involved today. We have signed Neil Thomas who made such an impact for Llanelli last season winning a player of the month award before moving to Bangor City. He is a local lad and I am sure he will be a useful acquisition to the squad. Also signed is Jason Harvey who has been away in America and was keen to pick up on his football career. He is an exciting attacking player who will also add another dimension to the team. Both of these players fit our criteria of giving local players a chance to play in the Welsh Premier. Players are increasingly aware that Porthmadog will give them the opportunity they have not always been given elsewhere. The players already with us have been given a good run in the team to show what they can do and have improved and developed as a result. Some of these players, Lee Webber is a prime example, have been approached by other clubs but have decided to stay with us because they have been given the chance here and they are repaying the faith shown in them. Not all clubs are patient enough to develop young players and some managers are under pressure to provide instant success. Benefactors We are not in the financial position to retain a large squad and keep them all happy for we have no wealthy benefactor to open his wallet. Benefactors are important for the league but they must be sustainable for we do not want a Barry Town scenario. Osian and I believe we are slowly and steadily moving the club in the right direction. The club is on a strong footing and there are more positives. We have shuffled the pack this season but we feel sure we are developing a sustainable approach while also developing young local talent which will give the club a strong future. We are continuing to encourage the best local youngsters to attend training and Carwyn Edwards and Arwel Evans have joined us recently and are showing up well. Long may it continue. Thanks for your support. |
