Port v Croesoswallt / Oswestry - 03/04/99

The results of our last five games will have taken the gloss off the season for many of our supporters. Since our ground was not considered good enough for the League of Wales, stalwarts such as Mike Foster have been sold and other players such as Paul Roberts released to ply their trade at the higher level and now our Swedish twins have returned to their homeland after a five month stay. For a team that were consistently in the top two throughout the season and were in with a shout of elevation back to the League of Wales up to a month or so ago it must be a real choker for our supporters to see the team disintegrate at a time when most other clubs in our position would have strengthened for a final push. The next Board meeting at Y Traeth will be crucial to next seasons planning, the club must decide if the money is to become available to bring the ground up to fulfil the League of Wales criteria and produce a team good enough to chal-lenge for promotion or if we must use all available resources on ground improvements. Either way I have the greatest respect for the Directors and subsidiary fund raisers who have got the club out of the debts of four years ago and into today's vibrant force ready to meet the challenge of the exciting new millennium. Whatever happens many of us relish the task of continuing to build our off the field enter-prises into permanent fund raising activities for the club. As this is our final programme of the season I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everybody for their hard work in keeping the club going forward. I could trot out the usual names but we all know the real workers here at Y Traeth. This year we have had a new face in our Community Football coach Paul Osahan. The work he has done will prove to be a real winner in the years to come and I would like to publicly thank the Board of Directors for the support they gave me in the early days by agreeing to support Paul's appointment and salary. This initiative is now totally self funding and beginning to bring in an income to the club. Whilst we are trying out some of our younger and fringe players I can only hope that results improve as our recent run of results has been very disappointing to say the least, I can only apologise to our loyal supporters. Enjoy today's match and thanks for your continued support.
