18/1/05 Y Golwr / The Goalie. Pwy oedd y gol geidwad tu ôl i’r mwgwd ac yn gwisgo côt hir at ei traed ar ‘Y Clwb’ nos Sadwrn diwethaf yn y gystadleuaeth hanner-amser o giciau o’r smotyn ? Wel neb llai na Dilwyn Lloyd Parry, cefnogwr mwyaf brwd ac adnabyddus Port -a do wir fe wnaeth sioe arbennig ohoni gan gadw cyfanswm y ciciau o’r smotyn gan Morgan Jones (Sgorio) i lawr i ddim ond pedwar. A dweud y gwir oni bai am yr hen gôt wirion yna mae’n siŵr y byddai Morgan wedi bod yn lwcus i sgorio un! Piti na gafodd Dilwyn fenthyg crys ei gyfaill a’i arwr Ged –byddai yr un wedi mynd heibio iddo wedyn! Who was the goalkeeper behind that mask and dressed in a coat which reached his ankles on ‘Y Clwb’ last Saturday evening? Well none other than Dilwyn Lloyd Parry, Port’s most well known and enthusiastic supporter –and yes indeed, he gave an excellent account of himself keeping Morgan Jones (Sgorio) down to 4 successful penalties in the half-time penalty shoot-out. Indeed if it wasn’t for that crazy coat Morgan would have been very fortunate to score one past Dilwyn. What a pity he did not borrow the shirt of his friend and hero Ged -nothing would have got past him then! 12/1/05 Y diweddaraf ar y cae / Latest news on the ground. Erbyn hyn, mae’r dŵr wedi mynd i lawr yn sylweddol a gyda rhagolygon y tywydd yn edrych yn llawer mwy addawol, dylai’r gêm fawr yn erbyn Bangor ddydd Sadwrn fynd yn ei blaen. Dywedodd ysgrifennydd y clwb Gerallt Owen "Gyda lwc dylai pethau fod yn iawn ar gyfer ddydd Sadwrn cyn belled na chawn ni ddiwrnod tebyg i ddydd Gwener diwethaf eto!" Galli cyflwr y cae ymarfer, sy'n cael ei ddefnyddio fel maes parcio ychwanegol, fod yn fwy o broblem gan fod disgwyl i dorf fawr deithio i lawr o Fangor. The water has now gone down considerably and with the weather forecast for the next few days sounding promising, the important fixture against Bangor should go ahead. Club Secretary Gerallt Owen said "With luck all should be well for Saturday just as long as we don’t get another day like last Friday again!" The condition of the training pitch, used as an overflow car park, could be more of a problem as a large crowd is expected to travel from Bangor. 8/1/05 Llanast y dŵr / Water damage. Bu'n rhaid gohirio gem Port yn erbyn Lido Afan ar y Traeth ddoe oherwydd llifogydd. Dengys y lluniau yma gymaint o ddŵr oedd yn gorchuddio'r cae. Achoswyd difrod i'r ystafelloedd newid gan y llifogydd. Floods caused the cancellation of Porthmadog's game against Afan Lido at y Traeth yesterday. These photos show the amount of water on the pitch. Damage was also caused to the changing rooms.
Lluniau gan /Photos by Rose Shingler 29/12/04 Cawlach y Cerdyn / Card mix-up. Cafodd y cerdyn coch a roddwyd ar gam i Gareth Parry yn ystod y gêm yn Trallwng ar 16 Rhagfyr ei drosglwyddo i Owain Roberts wedi i’r dyfarnwr, ar ddau dim, gytuno bod camgymeriad wedi’i wneud. Roedd y dyfarnwr wedi rhoi cerdyn coch i Gareth Parry am dacl gan Owain Roberts ar Rickey Evans. Arweiniodd y dacl hon at ymateb annifyr iawn gan Evans, a dderbyniodd gerdyn coch haeddiannol iawn. Er na roddwyd cerdyn coch i Roberts ar y noson, mae rheolau’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed yn datgan bod posib trosglwyddo gwaharddiad os yw’r cerdyn wedi cael ei roi i’r chwaraewr anghywir. Roedd Owain Roberts wedi ei wahardd yn y gêm yn erbyn Aberystwyth, ac mae’n bosib y bydd allan am ddwy gêm arall. The red card wrongly given to Gareth Parry during the game against Welshpool on December 16 has been transferred to Owain Roberts after the ref, and both teams, agreed a mistake had been made. The ref had shown Gareth Parry a red card following a tackle by Owain Roberts on Rickey Evans. This tackle lead to a rather ugly response by Evans, who received a deserved sending off. Although Roberts was not shown the red card on the night, the Football Association’s rules state that it is possible for a suspension to be handed to a player retrospectively in a case of mistaken identity. Owain Roberts was suspended for the game against Aberystwyth, and it’s possible he will remain sidelined for a further two matches. 24/12/04 Anfaiadau: Y Diweddaraf / Injuries: The Latest. Da oedd gweld Aled Rowlands, sydd wedi bod allan oherwydd anaf, yn chwarae i ail dim Port ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf. Fe sgoriodd ddwy gol wrth i'r ail dim enill o 8:2 yn erbyn ail dim Caergybi. Mae gobaith y bydd yn ddigon ffit i ddychwelyd i'r tim cyntaf dros y Nadolig a'r flwyddyn newydd. Chwaraewr arall sydd wedi bod allan ers sbel yw Carl Owen sydd wedi torri asgwrn yn ei droed. Mae Viv ac Osian yn gobeithio bydd Carl yn dychwelyd i'r tim dros y flwyddyn newydd. It was good to see Aled Rowlands, who has been sidelined by injury, playing for Port's reserves last Saturday. He scored two goals as the reserves stormed to an 8:2 victory against Holyhead reserves. It is hoped that he will by fit enough to return to the first team over Christmas and the new year. Car Owen is another player who has been out for a while after breaking a bone in his foot. Viv and Osian are hopeful that Carl will return to the team over the new year. 20/12/04 Rhodri Jones: Y Diweddaraf / Rhodri Jones: The Latest. Da ydy deall fod Rhodri Jones yn gwella’n dda yn dilyn yr anaf a gafodd ar y Traeth. Da hefyd nodi y diolchiadau a ddaeth o gyfeiriad clwb Caerfyrddin i glwb Port am eu cymorth. Dywed cynrychiolydd yn y Carmarthen Journal a dyfynnwn hefyd o sylwadau Vince James ar Restr Ohebu Gynghrair Cymru. It is great to know that Rhodri Jones is making excellent progress following the nasty injury which he sustained at the Traeth. It is also good to note the thanks extended by the Carmarthen club to Port in respect of their assistance on the day. A spokesman is quoted in the Carmarthen Journal and we also quote from Vince James’ comments on the Welsh Premier Mailing List. "The club is very thankful to officers and fans of CPD Porthmadog for their assistance." "Club physios Gary Morris and Jordanna McCarley did a fantastic, professional job looking after Rhodri before the paramedics took over. "As a club we are grateful to the officials and fans of Porthmadog who helped us out during the afternoon ferrying Jordanna and club coordinator Malcolm Williams to hospital and back as well as other considerations. Many thanks." 13/12/04 Dyddiad Newydd / Fixture Change Ad-drefnwyd y gêm rhwng Aberystwyth a Port, oedd i fod i’w chwarae ar Goedlan y Parc ar ddiwrnod y flwyddyn newydd, i’r diwrnod canlynol sef Ionawr 2ail. Bwriad y gynghrair oedd chwarae rhestr gyflawn o gêmau ar Ionawr 1af ond mae dyddiad nifer fawr o gêmau eisoes wedi’u newid gan osgoi pennau mawr o’r noson cynt!! Symudwyd rhai o’r gêmau i Ionawr 3ydd sydd eleni yn wŷl y banc. The league game, against Aberystwyth at Park Avenue scheduled for New Year’s Day has now been moved to the following day, Sunday, January 2nd. A full programme of matches had been arranged but many clubs have already re-arranged games to avoid what could be a New Year’s Eve hangover. Some games have been re-scheduled for the bank holiday which this year falls on January 3rd. 13/12/04 Calendr / Calendar Mae Calendr 2005 ar gael erbyn hyn ac yn cynnwys lluniau o Borthmadog a’r ardal o gwmpas. Pris y calendr yw £3-50 a medrwch ei brynu o’r siopau canlynol: Siop Bapur Newydd Pikes, Siop Eifionydd, Kaleidoscope neu Kandy Kitchen. Bydd copïau ar gael hefyd o siop y clwb ar ddyddiau pan fydd yna gêmau. Os nad ydych yn gallu cyrraedd unrhyw un o’r uchod mae’n bosib’ archebu calendr ar: porthmadog.fc@virgin.net The 2005 calendar is now available and it shows photographs of Porthmadog and the surrounding area. The calendar is priced at £3-50 and can be purchased from the following local shops: Pikes Newsagents, Siop Eifionydd, Kaleidoscope and Kandy Kitchen. It can also be purchased from the club shop on match-days. If you are unable to reach any of the above during the next few weeks it is possible to place an order on: porthmadog.fc@virgin.net 6/12/04 Rhodri Jones Mae CPD Porthmadog yn falch iawn o glywed am wellhad Rhodri Jones - capten Caerfyrddin. Fe gafodd Rhodri anaf drwg yn ystod gêm dydd Sadwrn ac fe fu'n rhaid iddo gael ei gludo i Ysbyty Gwynedd mewn hofrenydd. Rydym bellach yn deall fod Rhodri wedi dychwelyd adre. Brysia wella! Porthmadog FC are pleased to hear about Carmarthen captain, Rhodri Jones's recovery from injury. Rhodri suffered a serious injury during Saturday's match and had to be taken by helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd. We have now learnt that Rhodri has returned home. Get well soon! 25/11/04 Apêl y Llif Oleuadau – y diweddaraf / Floodlight Appeal - Update Ar ôl cychwyniad braidd yn ara’ deg, mae’r apêl yn dechrau codi stêm gyda nifer o gyfraniadau wedi dod i law. Os ydych yn dymuno cyfrannu, ond heb wneud eto, cysylltwch ag unrhyw un o swyddogion y clwb. Bydd yn rhaid i’r cyfarwyddwyr ddod i benderfyiad cyn hir iawn os ydynt yn gweld y ffordd yn glir i fynd ymlaen â’r cynllun. Mae ffynhonnell arall o arian yn gwneud yn dda, sef y Raffl sydd ynglŷn â’r apêl. Os oes gennych docynnau a heb eu dychwelyd, a wnewch hyn mor fuan â phosib’. Following a somewhat slow start, the appeal is gaining momentum with a number of contributions having now come to hand. If you wish to contribute, and have not yet done so, please contact a club official as soon as possible. Shortly, the directors will need to decide whether they are in a position to proceed with the project. Another avenue is doing well namely the Raffle associated with the appeal. If you have tickets to return, would you please do so as soon as possible. 25/11/04 Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru / Welsh Youth Cup Yn dilyn eu buddugoliaeth dros Y Trallwng yn y drydedd rownd, bydd ieuenctid Port yn wynebu Y Rhyl yn y bedwaredd rownd. Chwareir y gêm ar y Traeth ar Sadwrn, Ionawr 29ain. Following their third round victory against Welshpool, the youth team will face Rhyl in the fourth round. The game to be played at the Traeth on Saturday, January 29th. 25/11/04 Cwpan y Gyngrhair – diweddaraf / League Cup Update Daeth y dyddiadau ar gyfer y rownd cyn-derfynol yn erbyn Caerfyrddin i law. Bydd y cymal cyntaf ar faes Waun-Dew ar nos Fawrth, Chwefror 15fed am 7.30pm gyda’r ail gymal ar y Traeth ar nos Fawrth, Mawrth 1af am 7.30pm. Bydd y clwb yn ceiso ad-drefnu’r dyddiadau gan fod gemau canol wythnos, sy’n golygu teithiau mor bell, yn anymarferol. Golygai hyn y byddai chwaraewyr yn colli hanner diwrnod o waith ac yn cyrraedd yn ôl adre’yn yr oriau mân. Tybed na fyddai wedi bod yn gallach i gael rowndiau cyn-derfynol gogledd a de? The dates have come to hand for the semi-final against Carmarthen Town. The first-leg will be played at Richmond Park on Tuesday, February 15th with a 7.30pm kick-off while the return leg is at the Traeth on Tuesday, March 1st at 7.30pm. However, the club will be trying to re-arrange these games, as midweek games, between teams where a lengthy journey is involved, are impractical. It would mean players missing half a day’s work and not getting home until the early hours. Would it not have been better to have a northern and a southern semi-final? 17/11/04 Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru / Welsh Youth Cup. Llongyfarchiadau i’r tîm ieuenctid a sicrhaodd fuddugoliaeth dda yng Nghwpan Ieuenctid Cymru yn y Trallwng. Y sgor oedd 3-2 ar ôl amser ychwanegol. Sgoriodd Iwan Thomas ddwy waith yn ystod y nawdeg munud gyda John Peris Jones yn sicrhau’r fuddugoliaeth gyda peniad yn ystod amser ychwanegol. Congratulations to the youth team who made progress in the Welsh Youth Cup with a determined win against Welshpool by three goals to two after extra-time. Iwan Thomas scored twice for Port in normal time. John Peris Jones scored the winner with an extra-time header. 17/11/04 Aelod Newydd o’r Bwrdd / New Board Member. Yn ei cyfarfod diwethaf cafodd Ian Foulkes ei gyfethol i Fwrdd Rheoli Clwb Pêl-droed Porthmadog. Mae yn gefnogwr brwd o’r clwb ac wedi gwethio’n gydwybodol, a hynny dros nifer fawr o flynyddoedd, i godi arian i’r clwb. Bu hefyd yn weithgar iawn yn ddiweddar fel aelod o’r tîm sy’n sicrhau fod y cae yn y Traeth gyda’r gorau yng Nghyngrhair Cymru. Derbyniodd Ian Foulkes wahoddiad y cyfarwyddwyr ac yn sicr fydd yn ychwanegiad gwerthfawr i’r bwrdd. At a recent board meeting Ian Foulkes was co-opted on to the Board of Directors of Porthmadog FC. He has been a staunch supporter of the club and has worked conscientiously over many years fund-raising for the club. He has also recently been a member of the team who ensure that the Traeth has one of the best playing surfaces in the league. Ian Foulkes has accepted the invitation of the directors and there is no doubt he will be a valuable addition to the board. 9/11/04 Cwpan Loosemore Y Gynghrair Rownd Cyn Derfynnol / Loosemore’s League Cup Semi-Final Draw. Nodwyd, gan Gerallt Owen, yn y Rhaglen fod Llawlyfr y Gyngrhair yn dweud mai yn agored ddylai’r enwau ddod allan o’r het ar gyfer y rownd cyn-derfynnol. Ychwanegodd y byddai’n rhaid inni aros i weld. Wel dyma beth ddigwyddodd –dim gemau cyn-derfynnol gogledd a de fel yr oedd cefnogwyr yn disgwyl ond: Porthmadog v Caerfyrddin Port Talbot v Y Rhyl Ar ei ben Gerallt! Gemau i’w chwarae, mae’n siwr, dros ddau gymal ar ddyddiadau i’w trefnu. As Gerallt Owen noted,in the Match Programme, the Welsh Premier Handbook states that the semi-final draw should be open. He adds that we shall have to wait and see what happens. Well this is what happened -no northern and southern semis as most fans had expected instead: Porthmadog v Carmarthen Port Talbot v Rhyl Well spotted Gerallt! Matches to be played, presumably, over two legs on dates to be arranged. 26/10/04 Newid i'r Tim Rheoli / Change to Management Team. Cyhoeddodd Viv yn y rhaglen b’nawn Sadwrn newid i dim rheoli Port. Ond peidiwch a phoeni – dydi Viv ddim yn bwriadu ein gadael. Mae Osian Roberts, sydd wedi bod yn hyfforddwr ers dechrau cyfnod Viv wrth y llyw yn 2000, wedi cael ei ddyrchafu i fod yn gyd-reolwr. Y rheswm am y newid hwn yn ôl Viv yw pwysau gwaith: "Oherwydd ymrwymiadau gwaith, dwi ddim yn teimlo fy mod yn gallu caniatáu digon o amser i weithio gyda’r tim ac rwy’n gobeithio bydd y drefn newydd yn gwella pethau." Mewn gwirionedd, ni fydd hyn yn arwain at newid mawr yn y ffordd mae'r clwb yn cael ei reoli. Viv Williams announced in Saturday afternoon’s programme a change to Port’s management team. But don’t worry, Viv isn’t leaving us. Osian Roberts, who has been coach since the start of Viv’s reign as manager in 2000, has been promoted to the post of joint-manager. The reason for this change according to Viv is work commitments: "Due to work commitments I feel that I am not able to devote enough time to the team and hopefully the new set-up will address this". In reality this won’t mean a huge change in the way the club is run. 18/10/04 Ymosodiad y Gwyddau / Fowl Play. Mae Port yn brwydro i adfer y cae ar y Traeth wedi i haid o wyddau Canada ei ddifetha. Oherwydd y difrod, bu’n rhaid gohurio gem yr ail dim yn erbyn eilyddion Llangefni ddydd Sadwrn. Yr ardal o flaen un o’r goliau gafodd ei effeithio waethaf wrth i’r adar chwilio am bryfaid genwair. Mae swyddogion yn gobeithio byddant yn gallu adfer y cae mewn pryd ar gyfer gem dydd Sadwrn yn erbyn Total Network Solutions sydd ar frig y tabl ac hefyd yn ddi-guro y tymor hwn. "Rydym yn gobeithio bydd y cae yn barod erbyn dydd Sadwrn, " meddai ysgrifenyddd cyffredinol Port Gerallt Owen. "Bydd y tirmon yn ceisio ail-osod y tywyrch. "Rydym wedi gosod mesh ar y rhan o’r cae sydd wedi ei effeithio er mwyn ceisio cadw’r adar i ffwrdd. Yn anffodus nid yw’n bosib gorchuddio’r cae i gyd, ond rydym yn gobeithio y byddant wedi mynd o fewn pythefnos," ychwanegodd.(o'r Daily Post). Port are battling to repair the Traeth pitch after a gaggle of Canada geese ravaged the pitch. The damage meant that Saturday's reserve team game against Llangefni had to be postponed. Part of one goalmouth was worst affected as the birds hunted for worms. Officials hope they will be able to repair the pitch in time for Saturday's clash against fellow unbeaten side and league leaders Total Network Solutions. "Hopefully we will have the pitch ready for Saturday," said Port general secretary Gerallt Owen. "The groundsman will try to replace the divots. "We have a mesh to put down over the affected area to try and keep the birds off. Unfortunately we cannot cover the whole pitch, but hopefully they will have gone in two weeks," he added.(from the Daily Post) 05/10/04 Cwpan Cymru / Welsh Cup. Am yr ail dro mae Port wedi tynnu gwrthwynebwyr o Uwch-gyngrhair Cymru yn y gystadleuaeth am Gwpan Cymru. Yn y drydedd rownd byddant yn chwarae Cwmbran ar y Traeth. Yr unig gem arall rhwng dau glwb o’r Gyngrhair fydd Airbus yn erbyn Lido Afan. Bydd y gêmau yn cael ei chwarae ar Dachwedd 6ed. For the second time Port have drawn Welsh Premier opposition in the Welsh Cup. In the third round they will meet Cwmbran Town at the Traeth. The only other game where teams from the Welsh Premier have been drawn against each other is at Airbus who will entertain Afan Lido. The games will be played on Saturday, November 6th. 02/10/04 Ryan Davies: Chwaraewr y Mis. / Ryan Davies: Player of the month. Llongyfarchiadau i amddiffynwr canol Port, Ryan Davies, ar gael ei ddewis yn chwaraewr y mis Uwch Gynghrair Vauxhall MasterFit ar gyfer mis Medi gan raglen ‘Ar y Marc’ ar Radio Cymru. Mae Ryan wedi bod yn rhan allweddol o amddiffyn cadarn Port sef un o’r tynaf yn y gynghrair y tymor hwn. Dim ond tair gôl a sgoriwyd yn erbyn Port trwy gydol y mis. Ryan hefyd sgoriodd y gôl gyntaf i Port yn eu buddigoliaeth yn erbyn Bangor ar ddechrau’r mis. Congratualtions to Port central defender, Ryan Davies, on being named the Vauxhall MasterFit Welsh Premier League player of the month for September by Radio Cymru’s ‘Ar y Marc’ programme. Ryan has been a vital part of Port’s solid defence – one of the tightest in the league this season. Port's defence only conceded three goals throughout the month. Ryan also scored the first goal in Port’s victory against Bangor at the start of the month. 30/09/04 Mark Williams yn gwrthod y cynnig/ Mark Williams rejects offer Yn ddiweddar rhoddwyd rhybudd saith niwrnod o gais trosglwyddiad gan clwb Aberystwyth am Mark Williams ymosodwr Port. Deallwn erbyn hyn nad oes gan Mark ddiddordeb mewn ymuno gyda’r clwb o Geredigion a bydd felly yn aros ar y traeth. Penderfyniad doeth iawn! Aberystwyth Town recently gave a seven day notice of approach for the services of Mark Williams the Port striker. We now understand that Mark has turned down the Ceredigion club’s overtures and will be remaining at the Traeth. A very wise decision! 27/09/04 Sylwadau Deryn Brace/ Deryn Brace’s Comments Dyma ddywedodd Deryn Brace wrth y Western Mail yn dilyn y gem yn erbyn Port ddydd Sadwrn. These are Deryn Brace’s comments following Saturday’s match against Port. "Before the game I would have considered it two points lost, but now I’m happy with one. Porthmadog are the surprise package this season and I think they are capable of finishing in the top eight. They are very well organised and difficult to beat. In fairness to our boys, we had four players missing through injury and the plus point is we didn’t pick up any further knocks." 23/09/04 Cwpan Her Loosemore / Loosemore's Challenge Cup Daeth yr enwau allan o’r het ar gyfer rownd yr wyth ola’ o Gwpan y Gyngrhair. Bydd Port yn chwarae Cei Conna gyda’r cymal cyntaf ar Lannau Dyfrdwy yn ystod yr wythnos yn cychwyn ar Hydref 18 gyda’r ail gymal pythefnos yn ddiweddarach. The names have been drawn for the quarter finals of the League Cup. Port will play Connah’s Quay with the first leg being played on Deeside during the week commencing October 18th. The two teams will meet a fortnight later for the return leg. 20/09/04 Cwpan Cymru / Welsh Cup Daeth yr enwau allan o’r het, ddydd Sadwrn ar gyfer yr ail rownd o’r gystadleuaeth. Bydd Port yn cyfarfod Y Drenewydd gyda’r gem i’w chwarae ar Hydref 2ail ar Barc Latham. Pan gyfarfu’r ddau glwb yn ddiweddar, yn Y Drenewydd, cafwyd gêm gyfartal gyda’r sgor yn 1-1. The draw for the second round was made on Saturday and Port have drawn fellow Welsh Premier side Newtown. The game will be played at Latham Park on Saturday, October 2nd. When these two sides met recently, also at Latham Park, it ended in a 1-1 draw. 20/09/04 Sylwadau Viv / Viv's Views Yn ôl y Western Mail, dyma oedd barn diflewyn ar dafod Viv yn dilyn y gêm ddi-sgôr yn erbyn Derwyddon Cefn, ddydd Sadwrn. Ymddiheurodd Viv i’r cefnogwyr am y perfformiad dilewyrch. This was Viv’s forthright verdict, according to the Western Mail, on Saturday’s home clash with Cefn Druids. Viv apologised to supprters for the dismal showing. "We were very poor and I’m not happy at all. We totally messed it up and have got to perform a lot better than that. I’m really frustrated and felt our performance was unacceptable although, once again, our back five was very solid." 20/09/04 Apêl y Llif-oleuadau / Floodlight Appeal I gyfarfod a rheolau trwyddedu UEFA, bydd yn rhaid i Port wella safon y llif-oleuadau ar y Traeth. Cyfanswm cost y gwaith fydd £23,000. Swm anferth i glwb bach ond -fe ellir derbyn grant o 70% o’r gost oddi wrth y Gymdeithas Bêldroed. Bydd hyn yn gadael swm oddeutu £6,000, sydd yn dal yn swm fawr iawn. Mae pwysau amser hefyd gan fod rhaid derbyn cynnig grant y Gymdeithas Bêldroed erbyn y Nadolig -sydd ddim yn gadael llawer o amser i’r clwb ddod o hyd i’r arian. Penderfyniad y cyfarwyddwyr ydy sefydlu cronfa er mwyn ceisio codi cymaint â phosib o’r swm o £6,000. Bydd swyddogion y clwb yn croesawu unrhyw gyfraniadau mawr a bach –mawr os yn bosib! Byddai’n dda gan yr ysgrifennydd, Gerallt Owen, glywed am unrhyw syniadau newydd i godi arian er mwyn ceisio sicrhau fod cyfleusterau ar y Traeth yn dal i wella.Golyga’r gwelliannau godi safon y llif-oleuadau i isafswm o 500 lux. To meet new UEFA licensing regulations, Port will need to improve the standard of the lights at the Traeth. The total cost of such work will be in the region of £23,000. This is a huge sum for a small club –but it is possible to receive 70% of this amount in the form of a grant from the FAW. This leaves a shortfall of some £6,000 which the club will need to raise. This is still a substantial sum bearing in mind that the FAW have placed a time-limit on their grant offer and this will run out just before Christmas. The club directors have therefore decided to launch a Fund in order to raise as much of the £6,000 as possible, as soon as possible. Club officials will be delighted to accept donations large and small –the larger the better of course! And also secretary Gerallt Owen will be glad to hear of any bright ideas to raise extra funds. The improvements will involve raising the standard of the lights to a minimum of 500 lux. 18/09/04 Ifor Roberts Mae’n wir dweud ei bod hi’n bosib fod yn gymaint rhan o’r dodrefn nes bod neb yn eich sylwi tan eich bod bellach ddim yno. A r ôl dros ugain mlynedd o drin anafiadau chwaraewyr Port, penderfynodd Ifor Roberts adael y ‘sbwng hud’ yn y bag meddygol ac ymddeol. Mae dyled y clwb i Ifor yn fawr iawn a rhyfedd iawn ydy’r olygfa wrth ymyl y cae heb ei weld yn rhan o batrwm pnawn Sadwrn. Mewn seremoni byr ar y Traeth, derbyniodd Ifor ‘Arwydd o Werthfawrogiad’ gan y clwb am ei holl wasanaeth oddi wrth gadeirydd y clwb, Phil Jones. Yn ogystal, derbyniodd dlws gwydr arbennig o hardd a oedd yn rhodd gan un o weithwyr amlwg y clwb, Owain Geraint Jones. Rwan gall Ifor ganolbwyntio ar fod yn gefnogwr a da gweld, er ei ymddeoliad, ei fod yn methu cadw draw o’r Traeth. Olynnydd Ifor yw Campbell Harrison. It is true to say that it is possible to be so much part of the scenery that no one really notices you until you are no longer there. After twenty years of service treating players’ injuries, Ifor Roberts has decided to put the ‘magic sponge’ back in the medical bag for the final time and retire. The club owes Ifor a great debt of gratitude for his services and the scene in and around the dug-out on a Saturday afternoon without him is indeed a strange one. In a short ceremony at the Traeth, Ifor received a ‘Token of Appreciation’ presented to him by club Chairman, Phil Jones. In addition, he received a superb glass trophy donated by one of the club’s loyal band of workers, Owain Geraint Jones. Ifor can now concentrate on his role as a club supporter and it is good to see that, despite retirement, he is unable to keep away from the Traeth. Ifor’s successor is Campbell Harrison. 15/09/04 Wayne Davies? Ydy John Deakin yn gwybod rhywbeth nad yw’r gweddill ohonom wedi clywed? Dyma ddywedodd yn ei golofn wythnosol am y gyngrhair y mae’n ysgrifennydd ohoni: "Wayne Davies, in his first season as Manager at Y Traeth, has yet to taste defeat, and will certainly be looking to maintain this when they travel to Newtown, who were beaten 2-1 in their derby match with Welshpool last Friday evening." Ai Viv ydy’r rheolwr cyntaf i golli ei swydd eleni? Gwarthus â fo wedi cwblhau chwech o gêmau heb golli r’un! Beth sydd yn mynd ymlaen gyfarwyddwyr? Mae’n rhaid cyfaddef fod y gŵr ar ymyl y cae ar barc Latham ddydd Sadwrn yn edrych yn hynod debyg i Viv. Engrhaifft o gymysgu eich ‘Port’ mae’n siwr. Does John Deakin know something that has escaped the rest of us? This is what he wrote the in his weekly colum on the league of which he is secretary.: "Wayne Davies, in his first season as Manager at Y Traeth, has yet to taste defeat, and will certainly be looking to maintain this when they travel to Newtown, who were beaten 2-1 in their derby match with Welshpool last Friday evening." Is Viv the first managerial casualty of the season? Disgraceful I’d say after all his good work in reaching the sixth game of the season without defeat. What is going on directors? Though on reflection I must say that the bloke on the touchline, at Latham Park, looked the spitting image of Viv. Is it just a case of mixing your ‘Port.’? 15/09/04 Sylwadau o'r ochr arall / Views from the other side. Dyma sylwadau Roger Preece, rheolwr y Drenewydd, am y gem ddydd Sadwrn yn erbyn Y Drenewydd ar Barc Latham –yn ôl y Western Mail. Here are the comments of Roger Preece the Newtown manager about Saturday’s match at Latham Park, as reported in the Western Mail. "A draw, I feel, was a fair result but we should have done better after taking the lead in the first-half. "It is disappointing not to pick up three points, but Porthmadog are a much tighter unit this seasonand will give many sides problems. "There are about five or six clubs who are ahead of the pack. We are in the other dozen" 12/09/04 Gwallgofrwydd y crysau / A shirty saga. Dair wythnos yn ôl, mynodd y dyfarnwr Neil Morgan nad oedd yn gallu gweld y gwahaniaeth rhwng crysau coch Lido Afan a crysau gwyn Port oedd a dwy streipen goch denau o dan eu llewis. Arweiniodd hyn at ffars llwyr, lle bu’n rhaid i Port wisgo’u crysau tu chwith allan (isod, ar y dde). Gallai sefyllfa debyg fod wedi codi ddydd Sadwrn wrth i Port herio’r Drenewydd sydd hefyd yn chwarae mewn crysau coch. Yn ffodus roedd y dyfarnwr Phil Southall – un o drigolion Port Talbot – yn fwy hyderus o’i allu i weld y gwahaniaeth rhwng gwyn a coch wrth iddo ganiatau i Port wysgo’r crysau oedd wedi bod yn gymaint o dramgwydd i Mr. Morgan. Nid Phil Southall yn unig sy’n gallu gweld pethau’n gliriach na Mr. Morgan druan gan i Alberto Undiano Mallenco o Sbaen ganiatau i Loegr wisgo crysau gwyn gyda streipiau coch ar eu llewis yn erbyn Awstria a’u crysau coch (isod, ar y chwith). Piti nad Mr. Morgan oedd y dyfarnwr yn gêm Lloegr – byddai wedi bod yn wych gweld Beckham et al yn gwisgo’u crysau tu chwith allan! (Yn groes i’r grêd yn Lido Afan – nid oedd Port wedi teithio 150 milltir heb eu hail grysau.) Three weeks ago, referee Neil Morgan insisted that he couldn’t tell the difference between Afan Lido’s red shirts and Port’s white shirts that had two narrow red stripes below the sleeves. This lead to a complete farce, as Port had to play the match with their shirts inside out (above, right). A similar situation could have arisen this Saturday as Port faced Newtown who also play in red shirts. Fortunately, the referee Phil Southall – from Port Talbot no less – was more confident of his ability to tell the difference between white and red as he allowed Port to wear the shirts that had been such a problem for Mr. Morgan. Phil Southall wasn’t the only one that could see things clearer than poor Mr. Morgan as Alberto Undiano Mallenco of Spain allowed England to play in white shirts with red stripes on the sleeves against red-shirted Austria (above, left). It’s a pity that Mr. Morgan wasn’t the referee for the England game – it would have been great to see Beckham and co wearing their shirts inside out! (Contrary to popular belief at the Lido – Port didn’t travel 150 miles without their changed strip.) 06/09/04 Ymateb Viv / Viv's Reaction. Dyma farn Viv (yn ôl y Western Mail) am y gem siomedig ar y Traeth ddydd Sadwrn: These are Viv’s comments, as reported in the Western Mail, concerning Saturday’s disappointing game at the Traeth: "Connah’s Quay are a very well-organised side who know how to get results and they made life extremely difficult for us. "But it was a poor match, probably the worst since I’ve been in charge here. The one positive outcome from the match was that we again showed we are much tighter this season. "Defensively we have been playing well, with only two goals conceded, but we should have done better with the few opportunities we had." 03/09/04 Aled Rowlands. Dywed y safle Welsh-Premier fod Port wedi rhoi rhybudd 7-diwrnod o gynnig am Aled Rowlands, chwaraewr canol-cae Bangor. Enillodd y chwaraewr chwech ar hugain oed nifer o gapiau dan-21 i Gymru. Roedd gynt ar lyfrau Manchester City ac ymddangosodd hefyd i Sligo Rovers yng Nghyngrhair Iwerddon. Bu gyda Bangor ers 1999 gan ddechrau mewn 118 o gemau. Daeth i’r cae am yr ugain munud ola’ yn erbyn Port ddydd Sadwrn diwetha’. The Welsh-Premier site reports that Port have served a 7-day notice of an approach for Aled Rowlands the Bangor City mid-fielder. Rowlands is a 26 year-old former under-21 Welsh cap. He was previously on Manchester City’s books from whence he joined Sligo Rovers of the League of Ireland. He has been with Bangor since 1999 making 118 league starts. He appeared as a substitute against Port on Saturday 02/09/04 Ymateb Viv i gem Bangor / Viv's reaction to the Bangor game. Yn dilyn buddugoliaeth nodedig Port ar Ffordd Ffarar dyma ddywedodd Viv wrth ohebydd y Western Mail: Following their outstanding victory at Farrar Road these are the comments of manager Viv Williams in the Western Mail: ‘It was a tremendous victory and well deserved. We battled all the way and defended excellently. We now look much tighter as a unit.’ ‘That’s five points from three matches and with seven players under 25 I feel weare putting downfirm foundations to take the club forward’ He described the victory as ‘probably the best win we’ve had since coming back into the Welsh Premier.’ 02/09/04 Diolch Bob / Thanks Bob Daeth diwedd cyfnod wrth i Bob Havelock benderfynu gorffen fel cyfarwyddwr y clwb. Bu Bob yn was arbennig a ffyddlon a daeth hyn â chyfnod o un mlynedd ar bymtheg o gystylltiad â’r clwb i ben. Gwasanaethodd y clwb fel Cadeirydd am gyfnod hir gan brofi dyddiau da a dyddiau llai llwyddiannus. Mae pawb sydd ag adnabyddiaeth o’r clwb yn gwerthfawrogi yn fwy na dim ei waith fel Tirmon. Yn ystod ei gyfnod enillodd y cae werthfawrogiad pawb fel un o’r gorau yng Nghyngrhair Cymru. Er iddo wynebu llawdriniaeth fawr, roedd yn ffigwr allweddol yn trawsnewid y Traeth ar gyfer dychwelyd i Gyngrhair Cymru. Fel arwydd o werthfawrogiad o’i wasanaeth i’r clwb, gwnaed Bob yn Is-Lywydd am oes o CPD Porthmadog. It was something of an end of an era when Bob Havelock recently decided to step down as a director of the club. Bob has been a remarkable and dedicated servant and his decision ends a sixteen year association with the club. He served for many years in good and bad times as Chairman of the club. All who know the club appreciate most of all his work as groundsman. During his period in charge, the Traeth playing surface has drawn widespread appreciation and commendation for its excellence. Despite undergoing major surgery he was a key figure in the transformation of the ground in readiness for last season’s return to the Welsh Premier. As a small token of their appreciation of his services to the club Bob has been made a Life Vice-President of Porthmadog FC. |
