Port v TNS

Bydd Port yn wynebu’r dechrae anoddaf posib’ i’w tymor yn y gynghrair gyda gêm yn erbyn y pencampwyr TNS. Cynhelir y gêm, ar wyneb gwyrdd newydd y Traeth, ar Sadwrn Awst 27ain. Gyda TNS newydd chwarae yn Anfield, dyma ichi gêm i apelio at y cefnogwyr yn enwedig o gofio’r cyfarfyddiad diwethaf ar y Dreflan ar ddiwedd tymor 2004-05.

Port face the toughest possible opposition in their opening league encounter on August 27th. The champions TNS, fresh from their Anfield exploits, will grace the fresh green grass of the Traeth and provide a really attractive fixture to set the new season rolling. With the last encounter at the Treflan still fresh in the memory this is a game for all supporters to look forward to.

Tom Reynolds

Mae Tom, a ymddangosodd mewn naw o gemau cynghrair i Port y tymor diwethaf –pump ohonynt fel eilydd- wedi ymuno â chlwb Cegidfa sydd yn chwarae yn y Gyngrhair Undebol. Cafodd Tom gychwyniad addawol i Port ar ôl ymuno o’r Drenewydd ond methodd sgorio’n gyson a felly collodd ei le yn y tîm. Ar ôl gadael Port yng nghanol y tymor, bu Tom yn chwarae i glwb Shawbury United yng nghanolbarth Lloegr.

Tom, who appeared for Port in nine league games last season –five as substitute- has joined Cymru Alliance club Guilsfield. After a promising start for Port, following his move from Newtown, he failed to supply the goal scoring expected and lost his place in the squad. Having left Port in mid-season, he played for Shawbury United in the West Midlands Premier League.

Dim dyrchafiad. / No promotion.

I’r rhai a oedd yn dal i obeithio y byddai’r ail dîm yn cael eu dyrchafu fel canlyniad i ennill Cynghrair Gwynedd daeth y newyddion am ddyrchafiad Nefyn i’r ‘Welsh Alliance’ yn dipyn o siom. Nefyn orffennodd yn ail ond byddant yn cael eu dyrchafu am fod rheolau’r Gymdeithas Pêl-droed yn golygu nad ydy ail–dimau yn cael eu dyrchafu yn uwch na lefel bresennol Port. Nid yw rheolau o’r fath yn gymorth o gwbl i glybiau’r Gynghrair Genedlaethol sydd yn ceisio datblygu chwaraewyr ar gyfer y tîm cyntaf. Cafodd hogiau’r ail dîm dymor arbennig o dda a siom ydy gweld tîm sydd wedi gorffen yn is yn ennill dyrchafiad. Efallai y bydd cychwyn cynghrair dan-21 yn lleddfu rhywfaint ar y siom gan fydd hyn yn cynnig lefel uwch o gêmau i hogiau ifanc y clwb.

Those who held lingering hopes that the reserves would be promoted after ending the season as Gwynedd League champions will be disappointed with the news that it is second placed Nefyn who will be promoted to the ‘Welsh Alliance’. Welsh FA pyramid rules mean that second teams cannot play at a higher level than the Gwynedd League. Such rules provide little assistance to clubs from the Welsh Premier who are attempting to develop young players for the first team. The young reserve team had an excellent season and it is very disappointing for them to see a club who finished below them in the league being promoted. Perhaps the commencement of the under-21 league will prove a consolation as it will provide the younger players with a good level of competition.

Gem agoriadol. / Opening match.

Bydd y tymor newydd yn cychwyn ar Awst 20fed. Eleni gemau Cwpan Loosemore fydd yn rhoi cychwyniad i’r tymor gyda Port yn chwarae ar y Traeth yn y Rownd gyntaf yn erbyn Airbus neu Derwyddon Cefn a fydd yn chwarae gêm ragarweiniol ar y Sadwrn cynt.

The new season starts on August 20th. Season 2005-06 will commence with Loosemore League Cup matches and Port will entertain Airbus or Cefn Druids at the Traeth in the first round. These two clubs will have met in a preliminary round match on August 13th.

Y tymor newydd. / The new season.

Hyd yn hyn, Richard Harvey ydy’r unig wyneb newydd sydd yn bendant wedi arwyddo at y tymor newydd. Y sôn yw fod Viv ac Osian yn bwriadu dod â dau neu dri o chwaraewyr newydd i gryfhau’r garfan ac yn benodol yn chwilio am ymosodwr a chefnwr de. Mae’n amlwg i bawb fod angen sicrhau mwy o goliau y tymor nesaf ond mae’r newyddion eu bod am arwyddo cefnwr de yn cadarnhau efallai fod y sibrydion ynglŷn â galwadau gwaith John Gwynfor yn wir. Byddai colli John, un o bileri’r amddiffyn, yn ergyd drom a byddai dod o hyd i chwaraewr i lenwi ei sgidiau yn dasg anodd dros ben.
Mae nifer o gêmau cyfeillgar i’w trefnu ond heb gael eu cadarnhau eto. Y tebygrwydd yw y bydd yna gêm yn erbyn Bae Colwyn ar gae Ffordd Llanelian ar ddydd Sadwrn Awst 6ed. Hefyd bydd yna gêm i ffwrdd yn Glantraeth ond y dyddiad heb ei gadarnhau ac mae’r clwb yn gobeithio sicrhau gêm adre yn erbyn Caer. Y gobaith yw y bydd Caer yn dod â thîm cryfach i’n gwrthwynebu y tro hwn.

Richard Harvey is still the only definite new signing for the coming season. The news from the Traeth is that Viv and Osian hope to bring in two or three new players to strengthen the squad with a striker and a right back named, as top priorities. The need for a goal scorer is obvious to all Port followers but the fact that a right back is mentioned would seem to suggest that the rumours concerning John Gwynfor and his work commitments have some substance. To lose John would indeed leave a huge gap to be filled.
Several pre-season friendlies are in the pipeline with a game against Colwyn Bay at Llanelian Road likely to be played on Saturday August 6th. It is also intended to play another away fixture at Glantraeth on a date to be confirmed. It is hoped too that Chester will play at the Traeth with hopefully a strong team on this occasion.

Bryn Fon a'r Hen Geir / Bryn Fôn and the Vintage Cars

Trefnwyd dau ddigwyddiad i gymryd lle ar y Traeth ar ddydd Sadwrn, Gorffennaf 2ail sydd yn debyg o fod yn ddigwyddiadau eithriadol o boblogaidd. Gan ddechrau am 10.30 y bore a pharhau i’r prynhawn disgwylir i’r trydydd Rali Geir Flynyddol fod yn fwy poblogaidd nag erioed. Eisoes gyda phythefnos yn dal ar ôl, mae mwy na hanner cant o gerbydau wedi’u cofrestru. Felly gallwn ddisgwyl digwyddiad cofiadwy iawn i’r rhai sydd yn mwynhau gweld hen geir ac am fanteisio ar y cyfle i sgwrsio gyda’r perchnogion.
Dilynir hyn gyda ‘Roc y Rali’ pan fydd Bryn Fôn a Frizbee yn perfformio. Mae presenoldeb Bryn Fôn, dewin y byd canu poblogaidd yng Nghymru, yn sicrhau noson i’w chofio. Bydd y tocynnau yn £8 ac maent ar gael o Recordiau’r Cob (Port a Bangor), Siop Eifionydd, Llên Llŷn Pwllheli a Siop yr Hen Bost, Blaenau Ffestiniog. Bydd y noson yn cychwyn am 8pm ac yn parhau tan yn hwyr.
Bydd yna far yn y ddau achlysur.

Two major fund-raising events, which promise to be huge and popular attractions, have been arranged for Saturday July 2nd at the Traeth. The third annual Vintage Car Rally which will commence at 10.30 a.m and continue until mid-afternoon already promises to be better than ever. To date in excess of fifty vintage vehicles have registered and, with more than two weeks left, it promises to be a bumper turn out which will please all vintage car enthusiasts.
This will be followed by "Roc y Rali” where the main performers will be Bryn Fôn and Frizbee. The appearance of Bryn, one of the legendary figures of the Welsh pop and rock scene, ensures that it will be a memorable night. Tickets are £8 and can be obtained from Cob Records (Port and Bangor), Siop Eifionydd, Llen Llyn and Siop yr Hen Bost, Blaenau Ffestiniog. The concert will start at 8p.m. and continue till late.
There will be a bar at both events.

Cwpan Cenedlaethol. / Premier Cup.

Mae’r BBC wedi gwneud cynnig i barhau i noddi cystadleuaeth y Gwpan Genedlaethol ac mae’r cynnig hwn bron yn sicr o gael ei dderbyn gan y clybiau. Ymysg y clybiau yn y gystadleuaeth fydd Port - am y tro cyntaf- gan fod gorffen yn unfed ar ddeg yn y Gynghrair wedi sicrhau mynediad o drwch blewyn. Fydd y clybiau a orffennodd yn y safleoedd 2 hyd at 11 yn y Gynghrair a hefyd enillwyr Cwpan Cymru, sef TNS, yn cymryd rhan. Yn ogystal fydd y tri clwb o Gynghrair Lloegr a hefyd Casnewydd a Merthyr o’r pyramid yn Lloegr yn cymryd rhan.
Bydd yna £100,000 o wobr i’r enillydd gyda £50,000 i’r collwyr yn y rownd derfynol a £25,000 yr un i’r clybiau sy’n colli yn y rownd gyn derfynol a £15,000 yr un i’r clybiau aflwyddiannus yn rownd yr wyth olaf. Bydd yr arian am deledu gêmau byw yn cael ei rannu rhwng y clybiau yn y gystadleuaeth. Disgwylir i’r cyfarfod, a gynhelir yn y dyfodol agos dderbyn y telerau a gynigir.

The BBC has made an offer to continue its sponsorship of the Premier Cup and this offer is almost certain to be accepted. The participating clubs will include Port whose 11th place finish proves just enough to get them into the competition for the first time. The WP clubs in the competition will be those who finished in positions 2 to 11 in WPL and also TNS the Welsh Cup winners. The other clubs involve will be the three English League clubs as well as Newport County and Merthyr from the English Pyramid.
Prize money will be £100,000 for the winner, £50,000 for the losing finalists, £25,000 for the losing semi-finalists and £15,000 for the beaten quarter finalists. The money accruing from live televising of matches will be divided between the competing clubs. The meeting to accept this offer is likely to be held in the next few weeks.

Bydded Goleuni. / Let there be lights.

Daeth newyddion da yn ystod yr wythnos fod yr arian angenrheidiol wedi ei gasglu ar gyfer y goleuadau newydd a byddant hefyd yn cyfarfod safonau UEFA, sef cryfder o 500 lux. Bellach mae’r goleuadau newydd wedi’u harchebu a gobeithir eu gosod yn ystod y mis nesaf. Ymysg gwelliannau eraill ar y Traeth cafodd y cae-chwarae ei ail-hadu a hefyd prynwyd pyst gôl newydd –gan obeithio y gwelir dipyn mwy o goliau yn mynd drwyddynt o ergydion hogiau Port y tymor nesaf. Llongyfarchiadau i’r Bwrdd am wneud eu bwriadau yn hollol glir sef fod gwelliannau ar y Traeth yn broses sy’n dal i fynd yn ei flaen.

There is good news on the floodlights front as the necessary money is now in place and the new upgraded lights will meet the UEFA standard of 500 lux. The lights have been ordered and it is hoped that they will be installed during the next month. Other improvements at the Traeth include the reseeding of the playing surface and the purchase of new goal-posts –which hopefully will mean more strikes from Port hitting the target next season! Congratulations to the Board who have sent the clearest signals that the improvements in facilities at the Traeth are an on-going process.

Pencampwyr. / Champions.

Llongyfarchiadau i’r Ail dîm am ennill pencampwriaeth Cynghrair Gwynedd 2004-05. Sicrhawyd y pwyntiau i gipio’r teitl yn y gêm yn erbyn Bermo ar y Traeth ar Fai 18fed. Curwyd Bermo o 4-0 gyda Lloyd Edwards, Geraint Mitchell a Steff Roberts(2) yn sgorio. Pan aeth Blaenau i frig yr adran, rhai misoedd yn ôl, cadw o fewn cyrraedd ac aros eu cyfle fu hanes Port. Daeth y cyfle hwnnw mewn gêm allweddol ar Gae Clyd, ar Fai 14eg, lle sicrhawyd buddugoliaeth gofiadwy o 4-1. Dilynwyd hyn gyda buddugoliaeth dros Nefyn gan sicrhau y byddai curo Bermo yn y gêm olaf yn dod a’r pencampwriaeth i’r Traeth.
Bu hwn yn dymor cofiadwy gyda’r tîm ifanc yn chwarae peldroed o safon uchel iawn ar brydiau a hyn yn glod mawr i John a Steve eu hyfforddwyr. Fel canlyniad i’w perfformiadau mae nifer o chwaraewyr fel Jon Peris, Barry Evans a Lloyd Edwards wedi gwthio eu hun i’r brif garfan ac wedi ymddangos yng ngemau Cynghrair Cymru. Cyflwynwyd tlws y Gynghrair i’r hogiau gan gadeirydd y gynghrair, Dafydd G Owen, ar y Traeth yn dilyn y fuddugoliaeth yn erbyn Bermo a mawr bu’r dathlu!

Congratulations to the Reserves on winning the Gwynedd League for 2004-05. The points to ensure this were gained in the game against Barmouth and Dyffryn at the Traeth on May 20th. Barmouth were defeated 4-0 with the goals coming from Lloyd Edwrads, Geraint Mitchell and Steff Roberts(2). When Blaenau went to the top of the table some months ago all Port could do was to keep in touch and wait for their opportunity. This opportunity eventually came in a vital fixture at Cae Clyd on May 14th and Port gained a memorable victory by 4-1. They then went on to defeat Nefyn and set up the championship game against Barmouth.
This has been a remarkable season for the young squad who have at times played some outstanding football and have been a credit to John and Steve their coaches. As a result of their performances several players such as Jon Peris, Barry Evans and Lloyd Edwards have forced themselves into the first team squad and have appeared in the Welsh Premier. The trophy was presented to Port following the victory over Barmouth and that was a signal for the party to begin!

Harvey nol ar y Traeth. / Harvey back on the Traeth.

Cadarnhaodd ysgrifennydd Port, Gerallt Owen, fod y clwb wedi arwyddo Richard Harvey ar gyfer y tymor nesaf a mai fo fydd ei golwr yn yr Uwch Gynghrair y tymor nesaf. Symudodd y clwb yn gyflym i arwyddo Richard yn dilyn y sibrydion cryf fod golwr llwyddiannus y llynedd, Ged McGuigan, ar fin arwyddo i’r Rhyl. Mae Richard, fel hogyn o’r ardal, yn adnabyddus i gefnogwyr Port a bu yn golwr iddynt am gyfnod yn y Cymru Alliance ac yn dilyn hynny bu dipyn o strach ynglŷn a’i gofrestru a arweiniodd hyn at achos o flaen y Gymdeithas Bel droed. Hefyd bu Richard yn hyfforddwr golwyr yn Academi Port. Y llynedd bu yn chwarae i Llangefni.
Daeth y newyddion da hefyd fod pob aelod o garfan y llynedd, heblaw am Ged, wedi arwyddo ar gyfer 2005-06. Daw hyn a pharhad o’r cysondeb angenrheidiol sydd wedi deillio o rheolaidd llwyddiannus Viv ac Osian o’r clwb. Gyda llygad pendant ar y golofn goliau wedi eu sgorio mae yna addewid o un neu ddau o wynebau newydd cyn dechrau’r tymor newydd.

Port secretary Gerallt Owen has confirmed that the club has now completed the signing of goalkeeper Richard Harvey for next season and also confirms that he will be the first team keeper for 2005-06. The club moved quickly to secure Richard’s signature in view of the mounting speculation that last season’s successful keeper Ged McGuigan was about to sign for Rhyl. Richard, as a local boy, is a familiar figure at the Traeth having been their keeper for a period in the Cymru Alliance a period which resulted in a Welsh FA hearing concerning his registration. He has also been a goalkeeping coach at the Port Academi. Last season Richard appeared for Llangefni in the Cymru Alliance.
There was good news also that all of last season’s squad, apart from Ged, had been re-signed for 2005-06. This brings the necessary consistency and stability which has been a feature of Viv and Osian’s management of team affairs at Porthmadog. But with an eye on last season’s disappointing goals for column there is a suggestion that there may well be one or two new faces at the Traeth before the new season kick-off.

Ged yn debygol o adael. / Ged likely to leave.

Yn ôl gwefan welsh-premier.com, mae’n edrych yn bur debyg bydd Gerard McGuigan yn arwyddo i’r Rhyl yn ystod y dyddiau nesaf. Yn ôl y cadeirydd Phil Jones, "Mae tebygrwydd o 99.9% bydd yn ein gadael ond mae gennym un neu ddau o opsiynau i edrych arnynt".
Mae pethau yn edrych yn fwy calonogol ar ochr arall y cae gyda Viv ac Osian yn obeithiol bydd cyhoeddiad yn y dyfodol agos ynglŷn ag arwyddo ymosodwr maent yn gobeithio fydd yn dod a diwedd i’r diffyg goliau.

According to the welsh-premier.com website, it’s highly likely that Gerard McGuigan will sign for Rhyl during the next few days. According to chairman Phil Jones, "It looks 99.9% certain that he will be leaving but we’ve got a couple of options to look at."
But things are looking more heartening at the other side of the pitch with Viv and Osian hopeful an announcement will be made in the near future regarding the signing of a striker they hope will bring an end to the lack of goals.

Ged i adael? / Ged to leave?

Yn dilyn ymadawiad diweddar y golwr Paul Smith o’r Rhyl, mae’r cyfryngau wedi bod yn trafod pwy fydd yn cymryd ei le ar y Belle Vue. Un o’r enwau sydd wedi cael ei grybwyll yw Gerard McGuigan. Byddai colli Ged yn ergyd fawr i Port, gan fod ei berfformiadau dros y tymhorau diwethaf wedi bod yn wych. Arian yw’r ffactor bwysig yma, ac mae’n anhebyg byddai’r adnoddau arianol gan Port i gystadlu efo’r Rhyl.

Following the recent departure of Rhyl’s keeper Paul Smith, the media have been speculating on his replacement at the Belle Vue. One of the names that has been mentioned is Gerard McGuigan. Loosing Ged would be a great blow for Port, as his performances over the last couple of seasons have been superb. Money is the main factor here and it’s unlikely that Port would have the financial clout to compete with Rhyl.
25/4/05
Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn / Player of the Year.

Daeth diwedd tymor 2004-05 a golyga hyn fod hi’n amser i’r chwaraewyr a’r cefnogwyr ddewis eu chwaraewyr am y tymor. Pleidleisiwyd gan y cefnogwyr yn ystod gêm olaf y tymor yn erbyn Llanelli a blaenwr oedd eu dewis hwy sef y prif ymosodwr ac aelod o dîm rhyngwladol lled broffesiynol Cymru, sef Carl Owen. Mewn tymor lle talwyd y pris am ddiffyg goliau gyda safle is nag oedd eu chwarae cyffredinol yn haeddu, disgynnodd y prif gyfrifoldeb am sgorio ar ysgwyddau Carl. Yn ystod y tymor, fe sgoriodd 13 o goliau gyda 3 o’r rhain yn dod yn ystod rhediad llwyddiannus y clwb yng Nghwpan y Gynghrair.
Ar y llaw arall, dewisodd y chwaraewyr amddiffynnwr, sef Ryan Davies aelod grymus o amddiffyn a brofodd yn hynod gybyddlyd yn ystod hanner cyntaf y tymor. Oherwydd y diffyg goliau, mae Port wedi dibynnu’n fawr ar yr amddiffyn cadarn i sicrhau gêmau cyfartal a buddugoliaethau tynn mewn gêmau agos. Cafodd Ryan gyfnod euraid tua canol y tymor ac enwebwyd ef yn chwaraewr y mis yn Uwchgyngrhair Cymru yn ystod mis Ionawr pryd y dywedwyd fod clwb Dinas Caer yn ei wylio’n ofalus. Anrhydedd ydy cael eich dewis gan eich cyd-chwaraewyr.

Now that the curtain is down on the 2004-05 season, it is time for players and supporters to elect their players of the season. The supporters voted during the final match of the season against Llanelli and they went for an attacker and chose main striker and Welsh semi-professional international, Carl Owen. In a season where lack of goals has meant that Port have finished lower down the table than their general play deserves, Carl has carried the major responsibility for putting the ball in the net and ended the season with a tally of 13 goals which includes three goals in the successful League Cup run.
The players, on the other hand, went for a defender and selected Ryan Davies, a vital cog in a defence which proved so miserly in the first half of the season. In view of the lack of goals, Port have relied heavily on their firm defence which has enabled them to eek out so many draws and odd goal victories. Ryan enjoyed a golden spell in mid-season and was the Welsh Premier player of the month for January when it is said that Chester City were following his progress. Being nominated by your fellow team members is always a great achievement.

Trwydded UEFA / UEFA Licensing.

Llwyddodd pump o glybiau sef TNS, Caersws, Caerfyrddin, Y Trallwng ac Aberystwyth, sicrhau eu Trwydded UEFA ar gyfer y tymor nesaf. Nid yw enw Port ymysg y clybiau llwyddiannus gan eu bod wedi methu cyflwyno cyfrifon wedi’u cwblhau erbyn y dyddiad penodedig. Roedd y ffaith hon ynddo’i hun yn ddigon i’r cais fethu gan fod cyflwyno’r cyfrifon mewn pryd yn un o’r hanfodion ar gyfer llwyddiant. Er hynny, canmolwyd y clwb gan Andrew Howard, Swyddog Trwyddedu Cymdeithas Pêl droed Cymru, am y gwelliant amlwg ers y cais flwyddyn yn ôl. Petai’r cyfrifon yn barod i’w cyflwyno ar gyfer dyddiad yr apêl ar Fai 17eg, mae’n dal yn bosib’ i Port sicrhau y drwydded bwysig hon. Byddai hyn yn gryn gamp i glwb bach fel Port a oedd ond dwy flynedd yn ôl yn chwarae yn y Gynghrair Undebol. Byddai ennill trwydded yn golygu fod Port, pe byddent yn gorffen mewn safle i chwarae yn Ewrop, yn gymwys i wneud hynny.

Five clubs have been awarded their UEFA Licence by the panel which met recently. They are TNS, Caersws, Carmarthen, Welshpool and Aberystwyth. Port have not been able to gain a licence on this occasion and the club were aware that this would be the outcome as they had been unable to present up to date accounts by the specified date. This fact alone was enough to ensure that the application would fail as presentation of accounts is an essential prerequisite in order to gain a licence. However, FAW Licensing Officer Andrew Howard, commended the club for the improvements made since the last application. Should the accounts be completed in time for an appeal on May 17th , it is possible that Port could gain the coveted licence. This would be a remarkable achievement for a small club like Port who, only two years ago, were a Cymru Alliance club. Gaining a licence would mean that Port, should they qualify in the future for European competition, would be deemed eligible to take part.

Ffars y Gwpan Her / Challenge Cup farce.

Unwaith eto mae’n ymddangos bod Cwpan Her Gogledd Cymru wedi troi yn dipyn o ffars. Ddydd Sadwrn bu’n rhaid i ail dim Port gymryd lle’r tîm cyntaf yn y gystadleuaeth wedi i Gymdeithas Bel-droed Arfordir y Gogledd orchymyn bod y gêm yn erbyn Prestatyn yn cael ei chwaerae ddiwrnod yn unig cyn byddai Port yn croesawu Afan Lido i’r Traeth yn y Gynghrair Genedlaethol. Colli o 2-1 fu hanes yr ail dim yn erbyn y clwb o’r Welsh Alliance.
Mae’r Rhyl wedi gorfod tynnu allan o’r gystadleuaeth ar ôl i Gymdeithas yr Arfordir ddweud bod yn rhaid iddynt chwarae eu gêm yn erbyn Bangor nos Fawrth diwethaf, ddeuddydd yn unig ar ôl iddynt herio TNS yn rownd gynderfynol Cwpan Cymru. Maent bellach yn ystyried a oes pwrpas iddynt gystadlu yn y Gwpan Her y tymor nesaf. Mae penderfyniad y Rhyl i dynnu allan o’r gystadleuaeth yn golygu bod Bangor yn ymuno â’r gystadleuaeth yn y rownd gynderfynol, lle byddant yn herio Bae Colwyn ar Ebrill 19.

Once again it seems that the North Wales Coast FA Challenge Cup has descended into a bit of a farce. On Saturday, Port’s reserves had to take the first team’s place in the competition after the North Wales Coast Association demanded that the game against Prestatyn be played only a day before Port welcomed Afan Lido to the Traeth in the Welsh Premier. The reserves lost by 2-1 against the Welsh Alliance club.
Rhyl have had to pull out of the competition after the Coast Association insisted that they play their match against Bangor last Tuesday, only two days after their clash with TNS in the Welsh Cup semi-final. They are now considering whether there is any point for them to compete in the Challenge Cup next season. Rhyl’s decision to pull out of the cup means that Bangor will now join the competition at the semi-final stage, where they will play Colwyn Bay on April 19.

Cwpan Her Arfordir y Gogledd / NWCFA Challenge Cup.

Bellach mae dyddiad y gêm rhwng Prestatyn a Port wedi’i benderfynu. Ail dîm Port fydd yn chwarae’r gêm ddydd Sadwrn nesaf, Ebrill 2ail ym Mhrestatyn. Bydd y gic gyntaf am 2.30 p.m.. Golyga hyn fod gêm Port yn erbyn Bethel yng Nghynghrair Gwynedd a’r gêm yn erbyn Bethesda yng Nghwpan Barritt yn cael eu gohirio. Ie tair gêm ar yr un diwrnod! Diolch fod y gwahanol awdurdodau wedi dod i gytundeb yn y diwedd! Bydd ennillwyr y gêm rhwng Port a Phrestatyn yn chwarae Cei Conna ym 4ydd rownd y Gwpan Her.

The date has now been fixed for the game between Prestatyn and Port. The reserves will now fulfil the fixture and it will be played on Saturday, April 2nd at Prestatyn. The kick-off will be at 2.30 p.m. This means that the matches between Port and Bethel in the Gwynedd League and against Bethesda in the Barritt Cup will now be postponed. Yes its true three games on the same date! It’s good to know that the powers that be have in the end got their act together! The winners of the tie will meet Connah’s Quay in the fourth round.
30/3/05
Dim Grant / No Grant.

Gwrthodwyd cais Port, gan fwrdd Uwchgynghrair Cymru, am grant i wella system ddraenio’r cae. Mae hyn yn siom gan fod y gwelliannau wedi’u bwriadu i rwystro’r problemau sydd wedi bod eleni yn ardal y gôl ym mhen y dre.

Port’s recent application for grant aid to improve the pitch drainage has been turned down by the Welsh Premier League. It is disappointing that this has occurred as the improvements were specifically designed to counter problems experienced in the Town End goalmouth this season.
21/3/05
Gem Afan Lido / Afan Lido Match.

Bydd gem gartref Port yn erbyn Afan Lido nawr yn cael ei chwarae ar ddydd Sul Ebrill 3ydd.

Port's home match against Afan Lido will now be played on Sunday, April 3rd.
17/3/05
Chwe Munud Ychwanegol / Six Extra Minutes.

Mae’r dyfarnwr Phil Southall wedi rhoi eglurhad manwl o’r 6 munud 15 eiliad o amser ychwanegol a ganiataodd yn y gêm yn erbyn TNS, a hyn yn cynnwys 30 eiliad am bob un o’r chwe eilydd a’r gweddill am drin chwaraewyr ar y cae. Ffeithiau ydy rhain a nid oes modd eu cwestiynu. Ond o dderbyn y ffeithiau, mae’n rhyfeddol nad oes mwy o gêmau yn gorffen gyda chyfnodau hir o amser ychwanegol. Yn amlwg, nid yw pob dyfarnwr yn gweithredu’r rheolau neu’r canllawiau’n yr un modd gyda’r mwyafrif o gêmau’n gorffen gyda dau neu dri munud o amser yn cael eu hychwanegu’n fympwyol. Ni all fod yn foddhaol i’r mater pwysig hwn gael ei adael i ddehongliad dyfarnwyr unigol.

The referee Phil Southall has given a chapter and verse explanation of his 6 minutes 15secs of added time in Tuesday’s game against TNS and these include 30secs added for each of six substitutions together with further time added for treating injuries. These are facts and cannot be disputed. Given these facts, it is surprising therefore that more games do not end with periods of prolonged added time. Clearly all referees do not apply the rules or guidelines in the same way with most games ending with a token amount of added time, usually two or three minutes, added. It cannot be satisfactory for the important matter of added time to be left to individual interpretation by referees.

Gêm Prestatyn / Prestatyn Match.(English)

Nid yw’r cyfnod gwirion sydd bob amser yn mynd llaw yn llaw gyda Cwpan Her Arfordir y Gogledd drosodd eto. Cafodd y gêm, a oedd i’w chwarae yn Nhreffynnon yn erbyn Prestatyn, ei gohirio. Mae’r rhesymau am y gohirio braidd yn aneglur ac mewn gwirionedd mae yna fwy nag un fersiwn. Dywed un fersiwn fod y cae, er y dyddiau o dywydd sych sydd wedi bod, ddim mewn cyflwr digon da i chwarae tra dywed fersiwn arall fod y cae yn cael ei ddefnyddio ar gyfer syrcas –rŵan pam fod hynny yn dod â gwên lydan i’ch wyneb?
Yn ôl ysgrifennydd Port, Gerallt Owen, dyma oedd trefn y digwyddiadau:

1. Dydd Llun –Prestatyn yn cadarnhau nad oedd cae Treffynnon ar gael iddynt ar gyfer y gêm.

2. Port yn hysbysu NWCFA o’u bwriad i alw am ddefnyddio’r rheol newydd lle os nad oes cytundeb rhwng dau glwb chwaraeir y gêm ar gae y clwb sydd â llifoleuadau.

3. Mewn deg munud, hysbyswyd Port gan ysgrifennydd Cymdeithas yr Arfordir y dylai’r gêm gael ei chwarae ddydd Sadwrn(yfory) ym Mhrestatyn. Mae hyn yn groes i’r rheol sydd yn mynnu fod penderfyniad o’r fath yn cael ei wneud gan y Bwrdd Rheoli ac nid gan unigolyn yn gweithredu ar liwt ei hun.

Gan fod ddydd Sadwrn wedi bod yn ddyddiad rhydd i Port ers mis Awst pan gyhoeddwyd trefn y gêmau, mae nifer o’r chwaraewyr wedi gwneud trefniadau personol ar gyfer y diwrnod. Hefyd mae gan yr ail a’r trydydd tîm gêmau ddydd Sadwrn a felly mae cael tîm at ei gilydd yn broblem.
Penderfyniad y clwb ydy peidio â chwarae ddydd Sadwrn ac os bydd Cymdeithas yr Arfordir yn diarddel Port o’r gystadleuaeth, bwriedir mynd i apêl.

It appears that the NWCFA Challenge Cup silly season is far from over. The cup-tie against Prestatyn due to be played on Wednesday at Holywell was postponed. The reasons for the postponement are not entirely clear and there is in fact more than one version of events. One version is that, despite several days of dry weather, the pitch was not playable whilst another version says that the Holywell ground was being used as a circus venue –now why does that bring a large smile to your face?
The sequence of events according to Port secretary Gerallt Owen goes like this:

1. Monday –Prestatyn confirm that they were unable to obtain the Holywell ground for the game.

2. Port inform the NWCFA of their intention to invoke the new ruling introduced this season whereby clubs unable to reach agreement should play the tie on the ground of the club which has floodlights.

3. Within ten minutes the NWFCA secretary informs Port that the game has to be played on Saturday (tomorrow) in Prestatyn. This contravenes a ruling that decisions of this nature should be made by the Management Committee and not by one person acting alone.

As next Saturday has been a free Saturday for Port from the day the fixtures were first produced in August, several players have quite reasonably made personal arrangements for that date. As the reserves and third team have fixtures on Saturday it becomes difficult to raise a team.
The club has therefore decided not to play on Saturday and if NWCFA decide to expel the club from the competition it is Port’s intention to lodge an appeal.

Gem Afan Lido/ The Lido Match.

Bydd y gêm gartref yn erbyn Afan Lido, a ohiriwyd ar ddechrau Ionawr, nawr yn cael ei chwarae ar ddydd Gwener y Groglith (25/3/05). Bydd 5 gêm uwch-gynghrair nawr yn cael eu chwarae ar y dyddiad hwn. Bydd hwn yn gyfle arall i gemau’r Gynghrair gael eu chwarae heb gystadleuaeth oddi wrth bêl droed Lloegr.

The home match against Afan Lido, postponed in early January, will now be played on Good Friday (25/3/05). 5 Welsh Premier matches in all will now be played on this date. This will be another opportunity for Welsh Premier matches to be played without competition from English football.

Dyddiad Cwpan Arfordir y Gogledd/ NWCFA Cup Date.

Mae'r ddyddiad ar gyfer y gêm yn erbyn Prestatyn wedi cael ei gadarnhau. Bydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae nos Fercher yma, Mawrth 9fed gyda’r gic gyntaf am 7.30 pm ar gae Treffynnon.

The date for the tie against Prestatyn has now been fixed. It will be played this Wednesday, March 9th at Holywell’s ground with the k.o. at 7.30 pm

Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru/ Welsh Youth Cup.

Siom o’r mwyaf i hogiau’r tîm ieuenctid oedd mynd allan o Gwpan Cymru ar giciau o’r smotyn yn dilyn taith hir i Gasnewydd a perfformiad i fod yn falch ohono. Port oedd y tîm gorau yn yr hanner cyntaf ac yn llawn haeddu bod 1-0 ar y blaen ar hanner amser. Daeth Casnewydd yn ôl yn yr ail hanner gan ddod yn gyfartal a wedyn yn mynd ar y blaen. Wedyn eiliadau o ddiwedd y nawdeg munud gadawyd Port yn ôl i’r gêm unwaith eto diolch i flerwch gan y golwr cartref. Aeth y gêm wedyn i amser ychwanegol ac i giciau o’r smotyn. Ar ddiwedd y pum cic gorfodol o’r smotyn, roedd yn dal yn gyfartal (4-4) rhwng y ddau ond wedyn sgoriodd Casnewydd a methodd Port y gic nesaf a felly Casnewydd fydd yn mynd i’r rownd gyn-derfynol. Ffordd greulon iawn i fynd allan ond ymlaen rŵan at Gwpan Ieuenctid y Gogledd.

It was bitterly disappointing for the Youth team to go out of the Welsh Cup on penalties following their long journey to Newport. They gave however a performance to be proud of. In the opening half, they were the better team and fully deserved their 1-0 interval lead. During the second-half, Newport County drew level and then went 2-1 ahead. With time running out, the lads got back into the game thanks to a bad error by the home keeper. The game then went to extra-time and then to penalties. The score stood on 4-4 after the five compulsory penalties but then Port went out at the sudden death stage. What a cruel way to go out of the competition but forward now lads to the next round of the North Wales Youth Cup.

Croeso i Martin , Maria a Simon / Welcome Martin, Maria and Simon.

Da oedd cael croesawu’r tri aelod o deulu’r Rookyard sef Martin, Maria a’i mab Simon- i’r Traeth ddydd Sadwrn. Mae’n debyg mai nhw yw cefnogwyr mwyaf ymroddedig y clwb gan eu bod yn teithio i’r Traeth yr holl ffordd o Tyldesley ym Manceinion mor aml a phosib. Daeth y lwc arferol i’w dilyn gan nad yw’r teulu hwn wedi bod yn bresennol i weld Port yn colli – felly dowch eto mor fuan ag y medrwch! Os ydych chi’n teithio o Port i Old Traford ar bnawn Sadwrn, cofiwch fod rhai yn gwneud y daith i’r cyfeiriad arall!
Pam maent yn gwneud hyn? I gychwyn, daethant i’r ardal ar eu gwyliau a derbyn y fath groeso fel nad oeddent yn gallu cadw draw. Wedyn pan aethant i’r Traeth, maent yn dweud eu bod wedi derbyn croeso yr un mor gynnes yno hefyd. Os estynnodd y clwb a’r dref groeso cynnes iddynt, fe ymatebon nhw gan ddangos haelioni mawr at y clwb – yn noddi chwaraewyr, yn noddi seddi, cyfrannu’n hael at apêl y llifoleuadau a rhoi gwobrau at y raffl. Dowch eto yn fuan – ryda ni angen y tri pwynt!

It was good to be able to welcome the Rookyard family –Martin, Maria and son Simon- to the Traeth on Saturday. This family represents Port’s most dedicated and long distance supporters who, when they are able to, make the journey from Tyldesley, Manchester. They brought the club good luck as usual indeed they have yet to be present when Port have gone down to defeat –so hurry along again as soon as possible! If you are from Port and make your way to Old Trafford on a Saturday afternoon, just remember there might be others who are making that journey in reverse!
Why do they do it? They came to the area on holiday initially and they liked it so much and they were made to feel so welcome that they just can’t stop coming back. Then when they came to the Traeth to watch their first match they say that once again they received a warm welcome. If the club and town have treated them well it is true to say that they have responded with amazing generosity towards the club -sponsoring players, sponsoring seats in the stand, contributing generously to the floodlight appeal and contributing prizes for the raffle. Come again soon –we look forward to another three points!

Cwpan Her yr Arfordir / North Wales coast Challenge Cup.

Unwaith eto eleni, rydym wedi cyrraedd cyfnod yr helyntion gwirion ynglŷn â Chwpan Her Arfordir y Gogledd –y cyfnod hynny pan fo clybiau Cynghrair Cymru yn dod i’r gystadleuaeth- ac mae’r trafferthion arferol yn digwydd. Mae’r trefnwyr yn awyddus i gael y clybiau hyn yn y gystadleuaeth a hefyd mae y clybiau sy’n is i lawr y pyramid yn mwynhau’r sialens o’u chwarae. Gwyddant yn iawn na all clybiau Cynghrair Cymru roi blaenoriaeth i’r gystadleuaeth gwpan dros eu gêmau arferol. Eto i gyd, dydy’r trefnwyr heb fedru dod i’r afael â’r ffaith syml honno.
Felly cawn y ffrae flynyddol unwaith bydd clwb heb lifoleuadau yn cael eu tynnu yn erbyn tîm o Gynghrair Cymru. Pryd a lle mae’r gêm i’w chwarae? Mae enwau Port a Phrestatyn wedi dod o’r het a Phort wedi cynnig chwarae’r gêm ar Y Traeth ond, wrth gwrs, mae’r clwb o’r Welsh Alliance yn awyddus i gadw’r fantais a chwarae’r gêm ym Mhrestatyn. Cynigwyd hefyd i’r gêm gael ei chwarae ar gae â llif oleuadau yn agos at Brestatyn. Aeth y cawlach yn waeth wrth i ABS Sports gyhuddo Prestatyn o gynnwys chwaraewr anghyfreithlon mewn rownd flaenorol. Ymlaen â’r ffars felly a does yna ddim syndod fod rhai o glybiau Cynghrair Cymru yn gwrthod cymryd rhan yn y gystadleuaeth. Mae gan Port Sadwrn gwag ar Fawrth 12fed. Oes yna unrhyw obaith gwneud trefniadau ar gyfer y dyddiad hwn tybed?

The North Wales Coast Challenge Cup silly season is well and truly upon us again as the usual turmoil occurs when we reach the stage when clubs in the Welsh Premier enter the competition. Apparently the organisers wish to have these clubs in the competition and clubs lower down the pyramid apparently enjoy the challenge of meeting them but all know full well that no Welsh Premier club would be allowed or would wish to allow this cup competition to take precedence over their league programme. Yet the organisers never seem to get to grips with that simple fact.
We get these annual tussles once a club without floodlights is drawn against a Welsh Premier club. Where and when is the game to take place? Port have drawn Prestatyn and have offered to play under the Traeth lights but the Welsh Alliance club are of course not prepared to concede home advantage. Port have also offered to play under lights at a ground near to Prestatyn. The whole thing has now reached stalemate with a claim made by ABS Sports that Prestatyn played an ineligible player in a previous round. The farce continues and it is no wonder that many WP clubs refuse to enter the tournament. Port have a free Saturday on March 12th. What are the chances of the game being arranged for this date?

Adrefnu Gemau / Fixture Changes.

Adrefnwyd dwy o gêmau Port sef honno yn erbyn TNS a oedd i’w chwarae ar Fawrth 5ed ond, gan fod y clwb o Lansanffraid yn chwarae gêm yng Nghwpan Cymru ar y dyddiad hwn, chwaraeir y gêm rŵan ar nos Fawrth, Mawrth 15fed. Ar Sadwrn, Mawrth 5ed fydd Port rŵan yn croesawu Airbus i’r Traeth. Yn wreiddiol, roedd y gêm honno i’w chwarae ar Sadwrn, Ebrill 2ail.

Two Port fixtures have been rearranged. The game against TNS was due to be played on Saturday, March 5th but, as the club from Llansanffraid has a Welsh Cup tie on that date, the game against Port will now be played on Tuesday evening, March 15th. On Saturday, March 5th Port will now meet Airbus. This game was originally scheduled for Saturday April 2nd.

Cwpan Ieuenctid / Youth Cup.

Tynnwyd yr enwau ar gyfer Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru ac yn 5ed Rownd, sef rownd yr wyth olaf , fydd tîm llwyddiannus Port yn wynebu taith hir i Gasnewydd i chwarae Newport County. Bydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae ar ddydd Sul, Chwefror 27ain gyda’r gic gyntaf am 1.30 p.m.

The names have been drawn for the 5th round of the Welsh Youth Cup. The successful Port team now face a long journey to Newport where they will meet Newport County for the right to a place in the semi-final. The game will be played on Sunday, February 27th with the kick off at 1.30 p.m.

Hwb i'r Apêl / Appeal Boost.

Mae rhodd anrhydeddus iawn gan un o selogion y Traeth, sef Meirion Evans, wedi helpu i chwyddo coffrau apêl y llifoleuadau yn sylweddol. Saif y cyfanswm a gasglwyd a chyfrannwyd erbyn hyn ar £4,200 gyda’r targed yn £7,000. Carai’r Cyfarwyddwyr ddiolch o galon i Meirion am ei haelioni. Bydd yna gyfle pellach i bawb gefnogi’r ymdrech gan fod yna docynnau i’w gwerthu a’u prynu yn y Raffl Wanwyn. Bydd y tocynnau yma ar gael i werthwyr gan Jane Roberts, yn ystod gêmau cartref, neu oddi wrth aelodau o’r Bwrdd. Gobeithir hefyd y bydd yna nifer eto o gefnogwyr am ddilyn esiampl Meirion a gwneud cyfraniad tuag at yr apêl.

A particularly generous donation by Traeth regular Meirion Evans has helped to substantially boost the Floodlight Appeal. The total now stands at £4,200 with the target being £7,000. The Directors wish to thank Meiron for his generosity. There will be a further opportunity to support the appeal by buying and selling the Spring Raffle tickets available from Jane Roberts, during home matches, or from members of the Board. It is also hoped that there are many more supporters who wish to follow Meirion’s example by contributing to the appeal.

Cam Adnabod / Mistaken Identity.

Cafodd Gareth Parry ei ddanfon o’r cae yn Y Trallwng mewn amgylchiadau pur amheus ac yn ddiweddarach cafodd y digwyddiad ei gydnabod fel achos o gam adnabod. Cafwyd achos arall tebyg ddydd Sadwrn yn y gêm yn erbyn Hwlffordd ar y Traeth pan dderbyniodd John Gwynfor Jones gerdyn melyn am dacl nad oedd wedi’i chyflawni. Mae sut y gwnaed y camgymeriad yn codi cwestiynau go sylfaenol gan fod yr un a gyflawnodd y dacl tua dwy waith maint John! Cafodd y llumanwr olygfa glir o’r digwyddiad ac roedd yn ymwybodol o’r camgymeriad. Dywedodd y byddai’n siarad gyda’r dyfarnwr yn ystod yr hanner amser. Mae beth a ddigwyddodd wedyn yn dal yn ddirgelwch gan fod y data swyddogol gan Soccerfile Wales yn dal i ddangos fod John wedi derbyn cerdyn melyn.

Following the dismissal of Gareth Parry at Welshpool in bizarre circumstances, later conceded to be a case of mistaken identity, a similar incident occurred at the Traeth in Saturday’s game against Haverfordwest when John Gwynfor Jones received a yellow card for an offence which he clearly did not commit. How he could have been mistaken for the person, twice his size, who in fact made the tackle, raises serious questions! The referee’s assistant, who had a clear view of the incident, was well aware of the error and said that he was going to speak to the referee during the interval. What has happened since remains a mystery as the official data supplied by Soccerfile Wales still records John as having received a yellow card.
10/2/05
Gwaharddiadau / Suspensions.

Derbyniodd Gerard McGuigan waharddiad o dair gêm ar ôl iddo dderbyn cerdyn coch gan y dyfarnwr Mark Whitby yn y gêm yn erbyn Y Drenewydd. Y gêm yn Cefn oedd y gyntaf o’r dair a bydd hefyd yn colli’r gêmau yn erbyn Hwlffordd a Chaerfyrddin. Bu’n rhaid i Dylan Edwards, gol geidwad ifanc yr ail dîm, gymryd lle Ged yn Cefn Mawr ond, yn ystod y gêm honno, cafodd Dylan ei anafu. Bydd capten y clwb, Lee Webber, hefyd yn colli’r gêm yn erbyn Hwlffordd oherwydd gwaharddiad. Mae hyn yn gryn syndod gan fod neb wedi derbyn gwaharddiad drwy’r tymor y llynedd.

Gerard McGuigan has been given a three match ban after receiving a red card from referee Mark Whitby during the game against Newtown. The game against Cefn Druids was the first of these and he will also miss the games against Haverfordwest and Carmarthen. Dylan Edwards, the young reserve keeper, was his replacement at Cefn Mawr but, during that game, he sustained an injury. Club captain Lee Webber has also received a one match ban and will miss the game against Haverfordwest. This is something of a shock when it is considered that no player was suspended throughout last season.

Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru / Welsh Youth Cup.

Llongyfarchiadau i’r tîm ieuenctid ar eu buddugoliaeth wych yn y 4ydd Rownd o Gwpan Ieuenctid Cymru. Eu gwrthwynebwyr oedd Y Rhyl ar Y Traeth Sul diwethaf, Ionawr 30. Roedd yn rhaid i’r tîm godi eu gêm yn dilyn gôl gynnar gan Y Rhyl a honno yn dod yn syth o gic gornel. Ni aeth y pennau i lawr o gwbl ac ychydig cyn hanner amser unionodd Jonathan Peris Jones y sgôr . Wedyn, yn yr ail hanner, sicrhaodd hogiau Port eu lle yn y rownd nesaf pan sgoriodd Iwan Thomas yr ail gôl tua chwarter awr o’r diwedd.

Congratulations are extended to the youth team for their excellent victory in the 4th Round of the Welsh Youth Cup. Their opponents were Rhyl in a game played at the Traeth last Sunday, January 30th. The boys had to pull themselves back after conceding an early goal which came directly from a corner. The heads did not go down and, shortly before the interval, Jonathan Peris Jones brought the scores level. In the second period, Port went on to secure their place in the next round thanks to an Iwan Thomas goal a quarter of an hour before the end.

Cwpan y Gynghrair / League Cup.

Chwaraeir y cymal cyntaf o rownd cyn-derfynnol Cwpan Loosemore y Gynghrair ar nos Fawrth Chwefror 15fed ar faes Waun Dew, Caerfyrddin. Bydd hyn yn achosi cryn drafferth i’r clwb ac i’r chwaraewyr yn arbennig. Bydd hyn yn golygu iddynt wneud taith bell iawn ar gyfer gêm ganol wythnos am 7.30 y nos. Ceisiodd swyddogion Port adrefnu’r gêm ar gyfer y Sadwrn Ionawr 22ain, pan oedd gan Gaerfyrddin ddydd Sadwrn gwag. ‘Roedd Cei Conna yn barod i newid dyddiad ei gêm yn erbyn Port er mwyn gwneud y cyfan yn bosibl. Yn anffodus, ar ôl dangos parodrwydd i newid ar y cychwyn, ni lwyddwyd i ddod i gytundeb ar y mater gyda Chaerfyrddin. Pe byddai swyddogion y gynghrair wedi parhau a gêmau rhanbarthol gogledd/de yn y rownd cyn-derfynnol, ni fyddai’r broblem wedi codi yn y lle cyntaf.

The first leg of the Loosemore’s League Cup semi-final will now be played at Richmond Park, Carmarthen on Tuesday, February 15th. This will cause the club and, especially the players, severe problems. It will mean that they will have to make an afternoon start for an evening kick-off in midweek. Port officials sought to rearrange the fixture for January 22nd when Carmarthen had a free Saturday. Connah’s Quay were prepared to rearrange their fixture with Port on that date but, unfortunately, after initially agreeing, the West Wales club were not happy with the arrangement. This difficulty would not have arisen if League administrators had adhered to North/South regionalised semi-finals.

Apêl y Llif Oleuadau – y diweddaraf / Floodlight Appeal Latest.

Penderfynodd y Bwrdd symud ymlaen gyda’r project uchod i wella cyfleusterau ar y Traeth. Hyd yma, mae rhoddion unigol gan gefnogwyr wedi mynd dros £1,500 gan gynnwys nifer o roddion er cof am rai o hen gefnogwyr selog y clwb. Mae’r clwb yn ddiolchgar iawn am bob un o’r cyfraniadau. Er hynny, bu pethau braidd yn ddistaw yn ystod cyfnod y Nadolig ac ar ôl hynny a charai’r clwb glywed oddi wrth unrhyw un sydd am gyfrannu ac yn enwedig wrth y rhai hynny sydd wedi addo symiau sylweddol ond efallai wedi anghofio!! Chwyddwyd y gronfa yn dilyn Raffl ‘Dolig llwyddiannus ac ychwanegodd y raffl £1,047 at y gronfa. Mae’r bwrdd wrthi yn trefnu Raffl Basg ac os oes gennych wobr ar gyfer y raffl hon dewch i gysylltiad ag aelod o’r bwrdd.

The Board has decided to proceed with this project to improve facilities at the Traeth. Individual donations from supporters have now passed the £1500 mark and these include donations made in memory of former supporters. The club wishes to thank all these individuals for their generosity. Since Christmas, however, things have been rather quiet and the club would like to hear from anyone who would like to contribute especially those who have promised sizable donations but might have forgotten!! The fund has been boosted by a total of £1,047 from the successful Christmas Raffle. The Board has now started to organize the Easter Raffle and Board members would like to hear from anyone who has a prize or prizes they would like to donate.

Mae Calendr 2005 wedi bod yn llwyddiant ysgubol gyda mwy neu lai y cyfan o’r 350 o gopïau a gyhoeddwyd wedi eu gwerthu. Y dwbl dros Fangor / The double against Bangor.

Dyma’r tro cyntaf i Port wneud y dwbl dros Fangor yn ystod yr wyth tymor yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru gyda’r fuddugoliaeth haeddiannol o 3-0 yn dilyn yr un o 2-0 ar Ffordd Ffarrar yn ôl ym mis Awst. Sylwer hefyd nad ydy Bangor wedi llwyddo i rwydo unwaith. Ar y llaw arall, mae Bangor wedi gwneud y dwbl ar dri achlysur sef 1993/4, 1994/95 a 2003/04. Heblaw am eleni, y tymhorau gorau i Port oedd 1995/96 a 1996/97 pan y llwyddon i ennill adref a chael gêm gyfartal ar Ffordd Ffarrar. Blwyddyn gyntaf Cynghrair Cymru, 1992/93, ydy’r unig dro i’r ddwy gêm orffen yn gyfartal.

This is the first time that Port have completed the double over Bangor during the eight seasons in the Welsh Premier with a well deserved 3-0 victory following on the 2-0 win at Farrar Road in August. Note also that Port have kept clean sheets on both occasions. Bangor, on the other hand, have performed the double over Port on three occasions 1993/94, 1994/95 and 2003/04. Apart from this season, Port’s best seasons were 1995/96, and 1996/97 when they gained victories at home and drew at Farrar Road. The only time both matches have ended in draws was in 1992/93 –the first season of the League of Wales.

Llongyfarchiadau Jiws / Congratulations Jiws.

Llongyfarchiadau i Marc Lloyd Williams ar gyrraedd y garreg filltir nodedig o sgorio 200 o goliau yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Cwblhaodd y dasg mewn steil gyda’r ail gôl o dair a sgoriodd ym muddugoliaeth TNS o 7-0 ar yr Ofal. Roedd Marc wedi cynrychioli tri o glybiau’r gynghrair, sef Port, Bangor ac Aberystwyth, cyn ymuno a TNS eleni. Sgoriodd y gyntaf o’r 200 dros Port yng Nglyn Ebwy ar Medi 26ain 1992. Sgoriodd 28ain o’r 200 dros Port yn nhymhorau 92/93 a 93/94 cyn symud i Bangor yn 94/95. Ei gyfanswm o 22 gôl yn 93/94 dros Port oedd ei ail orau tan eleni. Eisoes mae wedi cyrraedd 25 gôl eleni a hithau ond yn ganol Ionawr! Ei dymor gorau un oedd 2001/02 dros Bangor pan sgoriodd 47 o goliau. Oes yna obaith i guro hyn eleni? Dim help oddi wrth Port os gwelwch yn dda!

Congratulations to Marc Lloyd Williams on reaching the notable landmark of 200 goals scored in the Welsh Premier. The target was reached in style when he scored the second goal of his hat-trick in TNS’s 7-0 victory at the Oval. Marc had previously represented Port, Bangor and Aberystwyth before joining TNS this season. He scored the first of his 200 for Port at Ebbw Vale on September 26th 1992. Twenty-eight of his 200 goals were scored for Port in seasons 92/93 and 93/94 before he moved to Bangor for season 94/95. His total of 22 goals in 93/94 for Port was his second best season’s haul prior to this season where he has already reached twenty-five goals and it is still only mid-January! His best ever season was for Bangor in 2001/02 when he scored 47 times. Could he beat this record this season? No help from Port if you please!
