12/12/06 Yn ôl i’r Ynys Werdd / Back to the Emerald Isle Gêm Porthmadog yn Port Talbot ddydd Sadwrn nesaf (16 Rhagfyr) fydd gêm olaf y chwaraewr ganol cae Paul Friel yng nghrys Port. Ymddangosodd Paul 24 o weithiau dros Porthmadog yng Nghynghrair Cymru a hefyd ddwywaith fel eilydd ers iddo ymuno o Fangor ar ddechrau 2006. Bydd ei ymadawiad yn golled fawr gan ei fod wedi datblygu i fod yn rhan allweddol o ganol cae y clwb. Dywedodd y cyd rheolwr Viv Williams, wrth dalu teyrnged iddo, fod Paul “... yn weithiwr caled gyda digon o galon, chwaraewr sydd yn barod i wneud y pethau annymunol o gwmpas y cae, pethau sydd ddim bob amser yn dal y llygad ond sydd yn holl bwysig i ddull y clwb o chwarae. Byddwn i gyd yn drist iawn o’i weld yn gadael. Roedd yn siaradwr mawr ar y cae ac yn gymeriad mawr yn yr ystafell newid.” Canmolodd Viv hefyd ei agwedd a’i awydd i chwarae gan ddweud “Derbyniodd doriad sylweddol yn ei gyflog er mwyn ymuno â Phorthmadog . Hefyd yn dilyn cyfnod cyn dymor ansefydlog, gweithiodd yn galed i ddod yn ôl i’r tîm. Mae o wedi gwneud llawer iawn dros y clwb mewn cyfnod byr a dymunwn bob lwc iddo yn y dyfodol.” Cwblhaodd Paul radd Meistr mewn Chwaraeon ym Mhrifysgol Cymru, Bangor ac erbyn hyn mae’n teimlo fod ganddo well cyfle i ddatblygu gyrfa yn ôl yn yr Iwerddon. Next Saturday’s game at Port Talbot (December 16th) will unfortunately be Paul Friel’s final game in a Porthmadog shirt. Paul has made 24 WPL starts for Porthmadog together with two sub appearances since joining from Bangor City at the beginning of 2006. His leaving will be a great loss as he has become a key member of the Porthmadog midfield. Joint manager Viv Williams paid a warm tribute to a player he described as “… hard working and whole hearted who does a lot of the ugly things around the pitch that is not always eye catching but is vital to the way we play. He was a great talker on the pitch and a great character in the dressing room” He praised his desire to play adding, “He took a sizable cut in pay to come to Porthmadog and worked hard this season to get back into the team following a disjointed pre-season. He has done much for the team in a short period at the club and we wish him well for the future” Paul completed a Masters’ Degree in Sports Science at University of Wales, Bangor but now feels that he has a better chance to develop his career back in Ireland. Best wishes Paul and thanks. 09/12/06 Mwy a mwy’n ymweld â’r wefan yma! / This website’s popularity goes from strength to strength! Mae mwy o bobl nac erioed yn ymweld â safle gwe CPD Porthmadog – www.cpdporthmadog.com. Am y tro cyntaf, ym Mis Tachwedd ymwelodd dros ddeg mil o bobl (10,282 i fod yn union) â’r safle. Mae hyn yn gynydd sylweddol ers dechrau’r flwyddyn – 4,719 a gafwyd yn ôl yn Ionawr 2006 – ac mae’n dangos fod poblogrwydd y safle’n codi drwy’r amser. Ar yr 22ain Tachwedd – y diwrnod ar ôl y fuddugoliaeth yn erbyn Llanelli – ymwelodd 442 o bobl â’r safle er mwyn canfod hynt a helynt y tîm! Yn barod y mis hwn mae bron i bedair mil o bobl wedi ymweld â'r safle, gan gynnwys rhai o America, y Weriniaeth Tsiec ac hyd yn oed United Arab Emirates (i enwi dim ond rhai)! More people than ever are visiting Porthmadog FC’s website – www.porthmadogfc.com. For the first time, in November over ten thousand visitors (10,282 to be exact) visited the site. This is a huge increase since the beginning of the year – we had 4,719 visitors in January 2006 – and it shows that the website’s popularity is increasing all the while. On the 22nd November – the day after the victory against Llanelli – 442 people visited the site to find out the latest about the team! Already this month, almost four thousand people have visited the site, including visitors from America, the Czech Republic and even the United Arab Emirates (to name but a few)! 09/12/06 Rhaid aros am yr enwau mawr! / Premier Cup draw delay. Mae'r BBC wedi cyhoeddi na fydd yr enwau yn cael eu tynnu o'r het heno ar gyfer rownd nesaf y Cwpan Cenedlaethol. Y gwrthwynebwyr nesaf i Porthmadog, yn dilyn y fuddugoliaeth wych yn erbyn Llanelli, fydd TNS, Wrecsam, Abertawe neu Caerdydd. Bydd trefn y gemau bellach yn cael ei gyhoeddi ar raglen BBC, Wales On Saturday, dydd Sadwrn nesaf - 16/12/06. The BBC have announced that tonight's draw for the next round of the Premier Cup has been postponed. Porthmadog's possible opponents, following the fantastic win over Llanelli, will be TNS, Wrexham, Swansea or Cardiff. The draw will now be announced on the BBC's Wales On Saturday next Saturday - 16/12/06. 08/12/06 Port i arwyddo Lee Hodgkinson o Fangor? / Port to sign Lee Hodgkinson from Bangor? Yn ôl gwefan Cefnogwyr Bangor mae Port wedi arwyddo'r ymosodwr Lee Hodgkinson o Fangor, sy'n dilyn y cyn reolwr Clayton Blackmore a chwaraeodd ei gêm gyntaf i Port yn erbyn Cei Connah nos Wener ddiwethaf. Os yw'r stori'n wir fo fyddai'r chwaraewr diweddaraf i symud rhwng y ddau glwb, ar ôl i Lee Webber ymuno a'r gelyn ac i Blackmore symud i'r Traeth. According to the Bangor Supporters website, Port have signed striker Lee Hodgkinson from Bangor, following in the footsteps of ex-manager Clayton Blackmore, who played his first game for Porthmadog against Connah's Quay last Friday night. If true, Hodgkinson would be the latest player to switch between both clubs, after Lee Webber joined the enemy and Blackmore's switch to the Traeth." 06/12/06 Trafferthion Cwmbrân / Cwmbran in crisis Mae Cwmbrân, gwrthwynebwyr nesaf Porthmadog, mewn trafferthion ariannol unwaith eto. Wythnos ddiwethaf , ni dderbyniodd eu chwaraewyr eu cyflogau a rŵan mae dau o’u chwaraewyr, sef y prif sgoriwr Jody Jenkins a’r amddiffynnwr Terry Green wedi gadael y clwb. Mae bwrdd y clwb wedi gwrthod cynnig gan gonsortiwm i gymryd drosodd y clwb. ac mae’n dristwch fod y clwb a enillodd y gynghrair yn nhymor cyntaf y gystadleuaeth bellach â’u dyfodol yn y fantol. Unwaith eto, mae’n dangos mor bwysig ydy datblygu clwb sydd yn rhan o’r gymuned gan fod dibynnu ar un ffynhonnell ariannol neu ar gefnogaeth un unigolyn yn beryglus iawn. Dymunwn bob hwyl i Gwmbrân –ond ddim dydd Sadwrn!- a gobeithio yn wir y byddant yn goresgyn eu problemau. Porthmadog’s next opponents, Cwmbran Town, are in the midst of yet another cash crisis. Last week, their players did not receive their wages and now two players, leading scorer Jody Jenkins and defender Terry Green, have left. The club’s board has rejected a proposed take over and sadly the future of the league’s inaugural winner is now in question. Once again, the importance of developing community based clubs is underlined for depending on one source of cash from one backer is a risky business. We wish Cwmbran well –except on Saturday!- and hope that they can overcome their problems. 06/12/06 Enwi’r ‘Clubhouse’ / Name the Clubhouse Bydd y clwb yn trefnu cystadleuaeth ar ddechrau’r flwyddyn newydd er mwyn cael enw i’r ‘Clubhouse’ newydd. Beth am Lolfa John Jones neu ‘Clubhouse Joe Bloggs ? Na dwi ddim yn meddwl ond os oes gennych gynigion call, dewch â nhw at aelod o’r bwrdd. Bydd rhestr fer o chwe enw yn cael ei dynnu gyda phleidlais ymysg y cefnogwyr i benderfynu ar y cynnig mwyaf poblogaidd.. Bydd y newyddion diweddaraf ynglŷn â’r apêl i’w weld yn rheolaidd yn y rhaglen ac hefyd ar y wefan hon. The club will be organising a competition in the New Year to name the proposed new clubhouse. Maybe the Joe Bloggs Clubhouse or Lolfa John Jones –no I don’t think so- but if you have some more sensible suggestions please bring them to the board’s attention. A short list of the six best suggestions will then be drawn up with a vote taken to find the supporters’ favourite. For updates on the progress of the appeal which has been launched with a target of £10,000, see the match programme or this website. 05/12/06 Amheuaeth am gêm heno / Doubts about tonight's game Yn dilyn y glaw trwm dros y dyddiau diwethaf, mae amheuon a fydd posib chwarae gêm heno rhwng Rhyl a Porthmadog. Bydd archwiliad o faes y Belle Vue yn cael ei gynnal gan y dyfarnwr am 5:45pm heno. Mae'n debyg fod siawns 50:50 i'r gêm gael ei chynnal - yn ddibynnol ar faint o law fydd yn disgyn yn yr oriau nesaf. Os fydd y gêm yn cael ei gohirio, fe geisiwn roi newyddion ar y safle yma mor fuan a gallwn! Following heavy rain over the past few days, it is doubtful whether today's game between Rhyl and Porthmadog will be able to go ahead. A pitch inspection of the Belle Vue ground by the referee is expected at 5.45pm tonight. The match is rated at 50:50 at the moment and its all down to how much rain falls in next few hours. If the game is called off, we'll post it here as soon as we can! 30/11/06 Bws cefnogwyr i Rhyl ar Rhagfyr 5ed / Supporters coach to Rhyl on December 5th Mae CPD Porthmadog yn falch i gyhoeddi y bydd bws cefnogwyr yn mynd i Rhyl ar gyfer ail-gymal rownd gyn-derfynnol y Cwpan Loosemore nos Fawrth nesaf. Bydd y bws yn cychwyn o flaen Gwesty'r Queens am 5.30pm a bydd y pris rhwng £5 a £10 yn dibynu ar y niferoedd sydd yn mynd. Mwyaf sydd yn mynd y rhataf fydd y bws! Rhaid bwcio sêt ar y bws drwy ffonio Phil Jones ar 01766 514343 neu Gerallt Owen ar 07920025338. Porthmadog FC are pleased to announce that a supporters coach will be going to Rhyl for the Loosemore Cup semi-final second leg next Tuesday. The bus will leave from outside the Queens Hotel at 5:30pm and the price will be between £5 and £10, depending on the number traveling. The more that go, the chaper the bus will be! Seats will need to be booked by phoning Phil Jones on 01766 514343 or Gerallt Owen on 07920025338. 30/11/06 Mis Tachwedd yr Ail Dîm / Reserves in November Byr fu diddordeb yr ail dîm yng Nghwpan Barritt eleni gan iddynt golli ym Mro Cernyw mewn gêm agos. Aeth y gêm i amser ychwanegol a’r tîm cartref a sgoriodd y gôl holl bwysig i ennill o 3-2. Yr unig fuddugoliaeth a gafwyd yn ystod y mis oedd mewn gêm gynghrair yn erbyn Prifysgol Bangor. Sicrhawyd buddugoliaeth swmpus o 8-0 gyda Mark Cook yn sgorio tair a Iestyn Woolway yn mynd un yn well a sgorio pedair. Ywain Gwynedd sgoriodd y gôl arall. Colli fu’r hanes yn y ddwy gêm gynghrair arall yn erbyn Bontnewydd a Blaenau Ffestiniog. Collwyd y gêm o 2-1 yn Bontnewydd cyn chwarae gêm wedi’i hadrefnu yn erbyn Blaenau Ffestiniog. Roedd y gêm wreiddiol yn Blaenau wedi dod i ben yn fuan oherwydd niwl trwchus pan oedd Porthmadog ar y blaen o 2-1. Ond y tro hwn Blaenau Ffestiniog oedd yr enillwyr o 2-0. Dydd Sadwrn nesaf ( 2 Rhagfyr) bydd yr ail dîm yn croesawu Bae Cemaes i’r Traeth. The reserves’ involvement in the Barritt Cup proved to be short lived. A close game went into extra time and Bro Cernyw secured the all important winner to go through by 3-2. The only win during the month was secured in the Gwynedd League against Bangor University and that by a whopping 8-0 with Mark Cook scoring a hat trick and Iestyn Woolway going one better and scoring four times. The other goal was scored by Ywain Gwynedd. They suffered defeats in the other two league games in which they were involved against Bontnewydd and Blaenau Ffestiniog. At Bontnewydd, they went down by 2-1. The game at Blaenau Ffestiniog was a re-arranged fixture with the original game having been abandoned midway through the second half with Porthmadog leading 2-1 at the time. This time however they went down by 2-0. The reserves will next be in action on Saturday (December 2nd) at the Traeth against Cemaes Bay. 29/11/06 Cymysgu efo’r Crachach! / Mixing it with the Elite! Bu mis Tachwedd yn un rhyfeddol i glwb Porthmadog a’r cefnogwyr. Yn ystod mis anghredadwy, maent wedi cyfarfod â ‘crach’ y gystadleuaeth heb gael ei trechu gan yr un ohonynt. Yn sydyn, daeth tymor a oedd â dim ond un buddugoliaeth cynghrair i frolio yn ei chylch wedi bywiogi drwyddo gyda’r buddugoliaethau cwpan yn erbyn Bangor, TNS a Llanelli –dyna i chi driawd i ddod allan o’r het! Sicrhawyd mynediad i rownd gyn-derfynol cwpan y gynghrair am y tro cyntaf erioed o ganlyniad i fuddugoliaeth wych ar Y Dreflan. Cafwyd canlyniad digon boddhaol yn erbyn Y Rhyl yng nghymal cyntaf y gêm gyn-derfynol gan adael Port â’u gobeithion am ennill lle yn y rownd derfynol yn dal yn fyw. Mae ystadegau’r mis hefyd yn rhagorol o ystyried safon y gwrthwynebwyr. Chwaraewyd saith o gemau gan ennill pedair gyda tair yn gyfartal ac heb golli ’run gêm. Yn ystod y cyfnod hefyd, rhwystrwyd y gwrthwynebwyr rhag sgorio ar dri achlysur ac ni gollwyd mwy nag un gôl mewn unrhyw un o’r gemau yn ystod y mis. Efallai y ffaith bwysicaf un yw iddynt ddychwelyd o uchelfannau’r gwpan i’r gynghrair a sicrhau tri phwynt yn erbyn Caersws -i fynd efo’r un pwynt a enillwyd mewn gêm galed yng Nghaerfyrddin. Y prif sgorwyr yn ystod y mis oedd Les Davies efo pedair gôl, Jason Sadler efo tair a Gareth Parry a sgoriodd ddwy. Wrth i Ragfyr gyrraedd, bydd yna gêm yn Y Fflint yn erbyn Cei Conna, tîm sydd wedi ail ddarganfod eu hunain ac yn y pedwerydd safle yn y gynghrair. Anodd ’di bywyd! November has been an amazing month for Porthmadog and their supporters. During this heady month, they have mixed with the elite clubs of the league and have not come off second best on any occasion. A season which had shown a solitary league win suddenly sprang to life with cup wins over Bangor, TNS and Llanelli –hardly the luck of the draw! The league cup win at Treflan secured entry into the semi-finals of that competition for the first time. The first leg of the semi-final produced a respectable draw at home against current league leaders Rhyl leaving them still very much in with a shout. The month’s stats are also outstanding bearing in mind the opposition. Seven games have been played showing four wins three draws and no defeats. There have been three clean sheets and not more than a single goal has been conceded in any game. Maybe the most pleasing fact of all is that they could return from the champagne of the cup to the nitty gritty of the league and earn three points against Caersws to go with the hard earned away point at Carmarthen. The leading scorers during the month have been Les Davies four, Jason Sadler with three and Gareth Parry with two. Another difficult away game heralds in December at Flint against the revived and rejuvenated Connah’s Quay –fourth position in the league. Life does not get any easier! 29/11/06 Newyddion o’r Academi / Academy News Ar ôl llwyddiant yn eu gemau agoriadol yn erbyn Cei Conna, profodd Academi Bangor yn rhy gryf i Port. Collodd y tîm dan 12 o 7-4 ond pob clod iddynt am ddod yn ôl ar ôl cychwyn gwael gan fynd 5-1 i lawr ar un cyfnod. Y sgorwyr i Borthmadog oedd Cedri Owen(2), Huw Quaeck a Guto Sion. Colli’n drwm fu hanes y tîm dan 16 o 9-0. Ar Sul Tachwedd 16, croesawyd Academi Y Rhyl. Aeth y tîm dan 12 i lawr o 5-3 gyda dwy gôl hwyr i’r Rhyl yn sicrhau’r fuddugoliaeth. Y sgorwyr i Borthmadog oedd Huw Quaeck, Jed Lloyd a Cedri Owen. Cafodd y tîm dan 14 fuddugoliaeth dda o 8-1 gyda Josh Threadgill yn sgorio pedair ac Iwan Lane yn ychwanegu dwy arall. Colli o 4-1 oedd hanes y tîm dan 16 mewn gêm dda ond eto ildiwyd dwy gôl hwyr. Pob hwyl i’r hogiau yn y eu gemau nesaf yng Nghaernarfon ar 10 Rhagfyr. After their success in the opening games against Connah’s Quay the Academy came up against a strong Bangor Academy. The U 12 team went down 7-4 but they did well to come back having been behind 5-1 at one stage. The Porthmadog scorers were Cedri Owen(2), Huw Quaeck and Guto Sion. The U16 suffered a heavy defeat by 9-0. On Sunday November 16 the Rhyl Academy were the visitors. The U 12’s lost 5-3 with Rhyl scoring two late goals. The Porthmadog scorers were Huw Quaeck, Jed Lloyd and Cedri Owen. The U14’s gained an excellent 8-1 victory with Josh Threadgill scoring four and Iwan Lane adding another two. The U16’s suffered a 4-1 defeat in what was described as an excellent game but two late goals were conceded. Best of luck in the next round of games on December 10th at Caernarfon. 27/11/06 Port v Cei Conna / Port v Connah’s Quay Dylai cefnogwyr sydd yn bwriadu teithio i’r gêm yn erbyn Cei Conna nos Wener nesaf (cic gyntaf am 7.30 pm) nodi mai ar Gae Castell, sef cartref clwb y Fflint, bydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae. Ar y cae hwn mae Cei Conna yn chwarae eu gemau cartref yn ystod y tymor presennol. Supporters travelling to the game against Connah’s Quay Nomads next Friday evening (k.o. 7.30 pm) should note that the game will be played at the ground of Flint Town –Cae’r Castell. Connah’s Quay are playing all their home matches at this ground during the current season. 22/11/06 Enwau mawr yn y rownd nesaf / Big names in the next round Yn dilyn y fuddugoliaeth wych neithiwr yn erbyn tîm proffesiynol Llanelli, gall Porthmadog edrych ymlaen at gêm gartref yn erbyn un o enwau mawr pêl-droed Cymru. Bydd yr enwau yn dod o’r het ar gyfer y rownd nesaf ar Sadwrn Rhagfyr 9fed yn ystod rhaglen "Wales on Saturday" y BBC – y gwrthwynebwyr posib fydd Wrecsam, Caerdydd, Abertawe neu’r Seintiau Newydd. Yn ogystal â’r siawns o chwarae yn erbyn un o’r enwau mawr, bydd Port yn derbyn siec o o leiaf £15,000 – byddai hyn yn cynyddu i £25,000 o ennill yn y rownd nesaf! Following last night’s fantastic win against the professionals of Llanelli, Porthmadog can look forward to a home game against one of the big names of Welsh football. The names come out of the hat for the next round on Saturday December 9th during the BBC’s "Wales on Saturday" programme – the possible opponents will be Wrexham, Cardiff, Swansea or the New Saints. As well as the opportunity for a game against one of Wales’ biggest clubs, Port will be guaranteed a cheque of at least £15,000 – this would increase to £25,000 if they win in the next round! 22/11/06 Apêl y ‘Clubhouse’ Newydd / New Clubhouse Appeal Mae Bwrdd CPD Porthmadog wedi penderfynu bwrw ’mlaen gyda’r bwriad o godi clwb ar Y Traeth. Gwnaed y penderfyniad hwn yn dilyn ystyriaeth fanwl ac erbyn hyn mae cynlluniau wedi’u cyflwyno i Adran Gynllunio Cyngor Gwynedd. Penderfynodd y Bwrdd hefyd agor Cronfa Apêl gyda’r amcan o godi swm o tua £10,000 tuag at y costau. Amcangyfrifir y bydd y costau o godi ac o ddodrefnu’r adeilad yn cyrraedd swm o tua £60,000 ac mae’r clwb yn ystyried gwneud cais am fenthyciad tymor hir ar log isel i gyfarfod â mwyafrif y gost. Bydd unrhyw roddion gan unigolion neu fusnesau yn arwain at ostwng y swm sydd angen ei fenthyg. Yn ogystal â chyfraniadau ariannol, bydd y clwb yn gwerthfawrogi cyfraniadau o amser neu adnoddau –cyfraniadau a fydd yn werthfawr iawn wrth i’r gwaith fynd yn ei flaen. Codir yr adeilad ar y tir rhwng y portacabins presennol a’r giatiau mawr wrth y fynedfa. Bydd yr adeilad o’r math ffrâm bren a bydd ganddo far a lle i150 o bobl eistedd ynddo yn ogystal â thoiledau safonol. Bydd y bar yn agor ar ddyddiau gêm a hefyd ar ddydd Sul pan gynhelir arwerthiannau cist car. Bydd modd defnyddio’r adeilad at weithgareddau amrywiol gan gynnwys nosweithiau o fiwsig, seminarau a chynadleddau. Os dymunwch wneud cyfraniad, neu os oes gennych syniadau am godi arian, cysylltwch â Nigel yn siop y clwb neu gyda Gerallt wrth y giât. Porthmadog FC Board has decided to proceed with the erection of a clubhouse at the Traeth. This decision was reached after lengthy discussions and plans have now been submitted to Gwynedd Council Planning Department for consideration. The Board has also decided to launch a Clubhouse Appeal with the aim of raising £10,000 towards the costs of the building. The total cost of erecting and fitting out the clubhouse is expected to be in the region of £60,000 and the club is considering an application for a low interest, long term loan to cover the remainder of the cost. However, any donations received from individuals or businesses will reduce the repayments required. Donations in addition to monetary contributions can be in the form of materials or time as these will also be very useful once work commences. The building will be erected in the area between the portacabins and the main entrance gates next to the turnstiles. The building will be of timber frame construction and will have a large bar with seating for 150 people with upgraded toilet facilities. Apart from being open on match days, it is intended to use the building regularly including opening during the Sunday car boot sales. The facility can also be used for one off events featuring live music and also for conferences and seminars. If you wish to make a donation or have ideas for fund raising, contact Nigel at the club shop or Gerallt at the gate. 16/11/06 Mwy am symudiad Blackmore / More on Blackmore's move Taith fer yn unig ydy hi o Ffordd Ffarar i Borthmadog ac mae Clayton Blackmore am wneud y siwrnai honno i gynorthwyo Porthmadog i godi’u safon yn y Gynghrair ac i symud allan o’r gwaelodion. Yn fuan ar ôl y sioc o’i ryddhau gan Fangor, symudodd Porthmadog amdano ac ni chymrodd yn hir i’w berswadio i ymuno â hogiau’r Traeth. Disgrifiodd Osian Roberts y broses o sicrhau gwasanaeth Blackmore fel “chwa o awyr iach” o’i gymharu â rhwystredigaeth y tymhorau diwethaf wrth i Viv Williams ag yntau geisio arwyddo rhai o’r chwaraewyr a ystyrid yn “sêr.” Roedd gan rhain fwy o ddiddordeb mewn cyflogau na dim arall gan ofyn crocbris am eu gwasanaeth. Roedd Roberts yn llawn canmoliaeth o Blackmore gan ddweud fod y cyn chwaraewr rhyngwladol yn hollol broffesiynol ym mhopeth y mae’n ei wneud. “Clayton oedd y chwaraewr gorau ar y cae ddydd Sadwrn yn fy marn i. Mae gennym ddigon o chwaraewyr sydd yn medru gwneud yr hyn na fedr Clayton ei wneud ond does gynnon ni neb ar y cae sydd yn medru gwneud yr hyn mae Clayton â’r gallu’i wneud. Mae ganddo brofiad aruthrol a bydd ei ddylanwad ar y cae yn tawelu pethau yn ôl yr angen. Rwan bydd yn medru canolbwyntio ar chwarae a bydd hyn yn gam i’r cyfeiriad iawn inni. Yn dilyn nifer o drafodaethau efo fo, rwyf yn llawn edmygedd o’i awydd i wneud yn dda dros Port.” Mae Roberts a Blackmore yn adnabod ei gilydd yn dda gan i’r ddau fod yn rhan o drefniadaeth pêl droed ieuenctid Cymru. Roberts hefyd oedd yn gyfrifol am asesu Blackmore wrth i gyn seren Man Utd ennill Trwydded Hyfforddi UEFA ar y Lefelau “A” a “B” o’r drwydded. Oherwydd trefniant blaenorol, ni fydd Blackmore ar gael am y daith i Gaerfyrddin. Bu llawer o alw am ei wasanaeth ers iddo gael ei ryddhau ac felly roedd ei ddyddiadur yn llenwi’n gyflym. Gan fod yr alwad gan Port wedi dod iddo braidd yn annisgwyl, bydd yn rhaid i nifer o bethau eraill aros eu tro a symud i gefn y drol! Wales legend Clayton Blackmore has made the short journey from Farrar Road to join Porthmadog as they concentrate their efforts on making progress in the League and moving out of the danger zone. Shortly after being surprisingly released by his former Club, Blackmore took little convincing in committing himself to the Traeth Outfit. In securing Blackmore’s services Osian Roberts explained that it was like “a breath of fresh air.” Roberts and Viv Williams have been frustrated over the last couple of seasons when attempting to sign so-called “star players,” trying to hold the club to ransom, and have appeared to be more interested in their wages than anything else. Roberts however, was full of praise for Blackmore, stating that he is still the ultimate pro in everything that he does. “I thought Clayton was one of their best players on the field last Saturday. We’ve got plenty of players that can do what Clayts can’t do on the field, but we haven’t got anyone on the field that can do what Clayton can. His experience is immense, he will be a calming influence on the field, and now that he can concentrate on just playing again I feel this is a step in the right direction. Having had several discussions with him, I’ve been impressed with his hunger and desire to do well at Port.” Roberts and Blackmore know each other well from their involvement within the Wales Youth set-up. Roberts is also responsible for the ex Man. Utd. legend gaining his UEFA Coaching Licence having assessed him at both the UEFA ‘B’ and UEFA ‘A’ Licence level. Due to prior commitments Blackmore will be unavailable for the trip to Carmarthen. Following his release he has been in demand, and his diary was filling-up rapidly. This call-up from out of the blue will mean that other things will have to be put on the back-burner from now on! 16/11/06 Osian yn cynnig ei enw am y swydd Lled-Broffesiynol / Roberts in the hat for Semi-Pro job Pan ofynnwyd i Osian Roberts yn ystod yr wythnos ynglyn â swydd rheolwr tîm Lled-Broffesiynol Cymdeithas Bêl Droed Cymru, cadarnhaodd - er braidd yn gyndyn- ei fod wedi gwneud cais am y swydd. Roberts yw’r unig rheolwr yng Nghynghrair Cymru sydd yn dal Trwydded Cymhwyster Proffesiynol UEFA ac felly bydd yn siwr o fod yn un o’r ffefrynnau am y swydd. Dengys ei CV fod ganddo chwe mlynedd o reoli ar lefel lled broffesiynol gyda CPD Porthmadog yn ogystal â phrofiad helaeth gyda thimau ieuenctid ar lefel genedlaethol. Er nad oedd am ddweud gormod, cyfaddefodd Roberts y byddai wrth ei fodd i reoli ar lefel genedlaethol unwaith eto -er mai ar lefel lled broffesiynol fyddai hynny. “Anodd fyddai dilyn y rheolwyr presennol ond mae gennyf gymwysterau uchel yn ogystal â phrofiad ac yn fwy na dim rwy’n gwybod beth mae chwarae mewn twrnament yn ei olygu.” Nid oedd Roberts am gael ei dynnu i’r ddadl ynglyn â chyfyngu chwaraewyr y garfan i’r Gynghrair Genedlaethol yn unig, ond i ddweud “ers fy nyddiau yng Nghynghrair Broffesiynol yr Unol Daleithiau dim ond yng Uwch Gynghrair Cymru rwy’ wedi rheoli. Er fy mod yn gredwr mawr yn y Gynghrair Genedlaethol, teimlaf os ydych yn Gymro –Cymro ydach chi a does dim gwahaniaeth lle y byddwch yn chwarae da chi’n dal yn gymwys i chwarae i’ch gwlad.” When quizzed this week about the FAW Semi-pro Manager’s job, Osian Roberts reluctantly confirmed that he had submitted his application. Roberts is the only Welsh Premier League Manager who holds the coveted UEFA Pro Licence and therefore must be one of the favourites for the post. His CV boasts over 6 years managing at semi-pro level with Porthmadog FC, as well as extensive experience with the National Youth Teams. Although not wanting to be drawn on the subject Roberts said “I would love to manage at International level again, albeit with the semi-pros. It’s a tough act to follow, but I know I’m highly qualified, experienced, and above all I know what Tournament competitions are all about.” Roberts preferred not to be drawn on the issue of whether or not selections should be solely from the Welsh Premier League, only to say that “since my Managing days in the US Pro League I have only managed a Club in the Welsh Premier League. However, even though I am a firm believer in our National League, I believe if you’re Welsh – you’re Welsh, and regardless of where you play, you qualify to play for your Country.” 16/11/06 Rownd Cyn Derfynol Cwpan Loosemore / Loosemores Cup Semi-Final Draw Cafwyd canlyniad arall annisgwyl yng Nghwpan Loosemore neithiwr (14 Tachwedd) gyda buddugoliaeth Aberystwyth dros Llanelli o 2-1 ar gae Stebonheath. Daeth yr enwau allan o’r het fel a ganlyn ar gyfer y rownd gyn derfynol a chwaraeir dros ddau gymal. There was another shock result in the Loosemores Cup last night (November 12th) with Aberystwyth gaining a fine victory against Llanelli at Stebonheath by a margin of 2-1. The draw for the semi-finals, to be played over two legs, is as follows: 28/11/06 Aberystwyth v Caersws Porthmadog v Rhyl 12/12/06 Caersws v Aberystwyth Rhyl v Porthmadog 16/11/06 Ffeithiau a ffigyrau / Facts and Figures Derbyniwyd ychydig o sylwadau ynglyn â chefnogaeth Port yn ystod y tymor yma oddi wrth Jim Maxwell, un o gefnogwyr y clwb a hefyd un sydd wedi bod yn teithio’r byd. Mae Jim yn nodi mai 337 ydy torf uchaf y clwb eleni gyda’r isaf yn 186 -hyn yn gwneud y cyfartaledd am y tymor yn 277 –ffigwr sydd yn dangos fod y torfeydd i fyny 22.4% eleni. Bellach mae Jim hefyd yn nodi fod y ffigwr yma yn rhoi Porthmadog yn safle 221 yn rhestr clybiau Cymru a Lloegr yn ôl eu cefnogaeth. Rhyl sydd uchaf o glybiau Cynghrair Cymru yn safle 159 gydag Aberystwyth yn safle 161. Mae’r cynnydd o 22.4% wedi digwydd yn bennaf oherwydd y drefn o chwarae gêmau rhagbrofol Cwpan Loosemore mewn cynghrair gan roi llawer o gemau ‘darbi’. Cafodd John Deakin ei feirniadu gan lawer oherwydd ei benderfyniad ond, fel y dywed Viv Williams, “Mae’r gystadleuaeth wedi tanio diddordeb y cefnogwyr eleni ...ac wedi dod â nifer dda o gefnogwyr i’r cae.” I’r rhai sydd â diddordeb mewn ffigyrau, mae Jim Maxwell yn tynnu sylw at Wefan Tony Kempster sydd yn rhoi sylw mawr i faterion o’r fath. These facts and figures have been sent by Jim Maxwell Port supporter and globetrotter. They refer to club attendances so far this season. Jim notes that Port’s highest attendance so far this season is 337 and the lowest 186 which gives an average attendance so far of 277. This figure shows a 22.4% increase on last season which makes Porthmadog the 221st best supported club in England and Wales. Rhyl are the best of the WPL clubs in 159th position with Aberystwyth 161st. The increase of 22.4% has been achieved largely through the reorganisation of the Loosemore Cup into a mini-league format with a number of local derbies. John Deakin has been criticised by many for this change but as Viv Williams says, “The group stages have increased the number of games and that has brought the fans through the turnstiles which is good news.” For those who are interested in facts and figures Jim Maxwell draws attention to the Tony Kempster Website which has a wealth of interest. 16/11/06 Yr Ail Dim ym mis Hydref / The Reserves in October Mis braidd yn ddistaw fu mis Hydref i’r ail dîm gyda ond un gêm gynghrair yn cael ei chwarae a honno yn erbyn ail dîm Llangefni ar Y Traeth. Llangefni oedd yn fuddugol o 3-1. Yr unig gemau eraill a chwaraewyd yn ystod y mis oedd y ddwy rownd yng Nghwpan Iau Arfordir y Gogledd. Chwaraewyd y Rownd 1af ar y Traeth gyda ail dîm Blaenau Ffestiniog yn wrthwynebwyr. Enillwyd y gêm gan Borthmadog o 5-3 gyda Mark Cook, Geraint Mitchell, Steve Jones, Iestyn Woolway a Mark Bridge yn sgorio. Yn yr ail rownd -eto ar Y Traeth- curwyd ail dîm Mochdre Sports o 4-1 gyda Matthew Hughes (2) ac Ywain Gwynedd (2) yn sgorio. October has been a rather quiet month for the reserves with only one league fixture being completed during the month which ended with Porthmadog suffering a home defeat against the Llangefni Reserves. The only other action during the month took place in the North Wales Coast Junior Cup. Two rounds of this tournament have been played. In the first round at the Traeth Porthmadog defeated the Blaenau Ffestiniog Reserves with the goals coming from Mark Cook, Geraint Mitchell, Steve Jones, Iestyn Woolway and Mark Bridge. In the second round of the competition Porthmadog were home again this time entertaining Mochdre Sports Res. The goals coming from Matthew Hughes (2) and Ywain Gwynedd (2). 15/11/06 Clayton Blackmore yn arwyddo / Clayton Blackmore signs Yn dilyn y cyhoeddiad heddiw fod Clayton Blackmore yn gadael Bangor, mae CPD Porthmadog wedi cadarnhau eu bod wedi ei arwyddo. Mae disgwyl ei fod wedi arwyddo yn rhy hwyr i chwarae yn y gêm yn erbyn Caerfyrddin bnawn Sadwrn. Ar ôl chwarae ar y Traeth am ddau ddydd Sadwrn yn olynol, mae’n amlwg bod Clayton wedi penderfynu ei fod eisiau chwarae yno’n amlach. After today’s announcement that Clayton will be leaving Bangor, Porthmadog FC has confirmed that has been signed by them. It is thought that the signing has come too late for him to play in Saturday afternoon’s match against Carmarthen. After playing at the Traeth on two consecutive Saturdays, it’s clear that Clayton has decided he would like to play there more often. |
