21/11/07 Rhagolwg: Cei Conna / Preview: Connah’s Quay ![]() Having gained a victory in the most unexpected of places, Porthmadog must now look to repeat the kind of performance shown at Llanelli and start picking up points against other clubs in the lower half of the table –not something they have been particularly successful at in the past. At Llanelli, we got that little bit of luck so badly lacking this season. It is worth bearing in mind though that but for the two goals, which enjoyed an element of luck, we would have gone down once more to a late goal. Our problem remains our failure to capitalise on periods of pressure by putting the ball in the net. Connah’s Quay have not shown the best of form in recent weeks winning only one of their last five games including a 7-0 defeat on their own ground when Bangor City were the visitors. On the other hand, they recorded a notable victory over TNS in the Welsh Cup and are fairly comfortably placed nine points ahead of Porthmadog. 20/11/07 Dafydd Wigley i agor y clwb newydd yn swyddogol / Dafydd Wigley to officially open the new clubhouse ![]() Dywedodd ysgrifennydd y clwb, Gerallt Owen, “Mae’n dda iawn gennym fod Dafydd Wigley wedi cytuno i agor y clwb newydd gan ei fod, yn ystod ei amser yn cynrychioli’r ardal yn San Steffan ac ym Mae Caerdydd, bob amser yn barod iawn ei gymwynas i’r clwb a bob amser yn ffrind da inni. Wrth gwrs, mae’n dda hefyd medru dweud ei fod yn gefnogwr deallus o hynt a helynt y bêl gron!” Dafydd Wigley, the former Member of Parliament and Assembly Member for Arfon, will officially open Porthmadog Football Club's new clubhouse on Saturday 1st December at 12 noon. Secretary Gerallt Owen said, “We are very pleased that Dafydd Wigley has kindly agreed to officially open the clubhouse as, during his time as our local representative at both Westminster and Cardiff Bay, he was always ready to help the club and was a good friend of ours. It also helps, of course, that he is a keen and knowledgeable football fan!" 20/11/07 Digwyddiadau yn y clwb newydd / Events in the new clubhouse ![]() 8 Rhagfyr, 7.30 pm: Nadolig Cajun gyda Cajun’s Denbo a Bwyd Cajun. Bydd mynediad i bawb yn rhad ac am ddim felly dewch yn llu i gefnogi’r chwaraewyr ifanc yma –sêr y dyfodol. Yn ddiweddar, mewn gêm flaenorol yn Llandudno, daeth 350 i’w gweld gan fwynhau safon y pêl droed a welwyd. The North Wales Coast Under 18 team will take on their counterparts from Central Wales in a representative match at the Traeth next Tuesday evening with the kick off at 7.30 pm. Entry will be FREE so give your support to these promising youngsters –the stars of the future. A crowd of 350 came to Llandudno for a previous match and enjoyed some excellent football. 15/11/07 Gwaharddiad am un gêm i John / One match suspension for John ![]() John Gwynfor Jones has been handed a one match suspension following his sending off for a handball offence in last Saturday’s game against Port Talbot. This means he will be available for the game at Connah’s Quay. Paul Roberts, who missed that game, having reached five yellow cards, is available again for the game at Llanelli. 14/11/07 Problemau yn y gôl i Lanelli / Llanelli face keeper headache ![]() Mae gan Port hefyd broblem gyda gwaharddiad ar ôl i John Gwynfor gael ei ddanfon o’r maes yn erbyn Port Talbot. Newyddion gwell i Viv fydd dychweliad Paul Roberts – hefyd ar ôl gwaharddiad. Following the sending off of their goal keeper, Ryan Harrison, against Haverfordwest on Satruday, Llanelli – Port’s next opponents – face selection problems for that position. Craig Richards – a 16 year old who is 3rd choice at Stebonheath – will line up in goal for the game on Sunday. Viv Williams will hope that Llanelli’s problems will provide Port with a glimmer of hope as they face a team who have scored 17 goals in their last three league games! Port also have some selection problems with John Gwynfor suspended following his sending off against Port Talbot. Better news for Viv is that Paul Roberts returns to the team following a one match suspension. 13/11/07 Sagar wedi gadael / Sagar moves on ![]() Joe Sagar has moved back to Mossley after a period helping out Porthmadog. The eighteen year old goalkeeper made five WPL appearances together with four Cup appearances during Richard Harvey’s lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury. The club did make efforts to retain Joe until the transfer window re-opens in January but he was keen to return and this leaves Porthmadog in a vulnerable situation should Richard Harvey pick up another injury. 13/11/07 Digwyddiad gwrth-hiliol yn llwyddiant / Anti-racist event a success ![]() The anti-racist event held at the Traeth last week proved to be extremely successful. The event, attended by over 70 pupils of Ysgol Eifion Wyn and Ysgol y Gorlan, was arranged by the “Show Racism the Red Card” organisation. A special DVD was shown and there was also a Question and Answer session on racism. Club manager Viv Williams remarked afterwards, “The children provided the panel, which included Osian Roberts, Phil Jones, Sunil Patel and myself, with some excellent questions.” A ‘Sgorio’ camera crew was present to record the session. Following the successful event Sunil Patel, Welsh Project co-ordinator, commented “We are extremely pleased to continue our programme of events around Wales and Porthmadog FC have given great support to our campaign over the past year.” 11/11/07 Alan Bickerstaff i helpu Viv / Alan Bickerstaff to help Viv ![]() Mae cyn chwaraewr Y Rhyl wedi cynorthwyo Gareth Owen yn Airbus Brychdyn ers Mehefin 2005 ac mae’n ddeilydd bathodyn hyfforddi ‘A’ UEFA. Viv Williams has worked on his own since returning to manage the club. But he has now asked Alan Bickerstaff to assist him in a coaching capacity. Alan Bickerstaff left Airbus recently due to an increasing workload in his duties for the FAW Trust as Development Officer in Denbighshire. However Viv Williams says “Alan has agreed to help out from time to time as his work load allows him.” He added “I am grateful to Alan, having the help of such an experienced coach will take some of the pressure off my shoulders.” A former player with Rhyl FC, he has assisted Gareth Owen at Airbus Broughton since June 2005 and holds a UEFA ‘A’ coaching badge. 08/11/07 Edrych ymlaen at gêm Port Talbot / Looking forward to the Port Talbot mach ![]() Despite losing 7-2 against Port Talbot in the Premier Cup earlier in the season, Viv will hope to capitalize on Talbot’s recent disappointing run, especially their 8-0 thrashing at the hands of Llanelli. However, their players will be keen to impress their caretaker manager, Paul Ried, who takes over on Saturday following the resignation of Tony Pennock earlier in the week. When he took charge, Viv said it would take a month to raise the squad’s fitness to the necessary level, and that month has now expired! One big blow to Porthmadog’s chances on Saturday is Paul Roberts’ suspension after picking up 4 yellow cards in the league this season. The team is sure to miss Paul, who has netted 8 times despite the disappointing start. We’ve seen our performances improve; it’s now time to start delivering the goods! 06/11/07 Digwyddiad gwrth-hiliaeth ar gyfer plant ysgol lleol / Anti-racism event for local school children ![]() Dywedodd Sunil Patel, Cydlynydd Cymreig y Prosiect: “Mae ‘Dangoswch y Cerdyn Coch i Hiliaeth’ yn falch iawn i gael parhau ein ymgyrch addysgiadol ar hyd a lled Cymru. Mae CPD Porthmadog wedi rhoi cefnogaeth wych i’r ymgyrch yn ystod y flwyddyn ddiwethaf ac rydym yn edrych ymlaen at ddigwyddiad cofiadwy.” Mae ‘Dangoswch y Cerdyn Coch i Hiliaeth’ wedi ei sefydlu ers 11 mlynedd. Mae’r mudiad yn gobeithio defnyddio enwogrwydd chwaraewyr pêl-droed proffesiynol ar gyfer ymladd hiliaeth mewn cymdeithas. Rydym yn defnyddio peldroedwyr fel esiampl gwrth-hiliol yn ein deunydd addysgiadol ac wedi cael ein canmol hyd a lled Ewrop.” Byd ‘Dangoswch y Cerdyn Coch i Hiliaeth’ yn dosbarthu nwyddau am ddim – posteri, sticeri a chylchgronau – i bawb sy’n mynychu’r digwyddiad. ![]() Sunil Patel, Wales Project Coordinator, said: “Show Racism the Red Card are extremely pleased to continue our programme of educational events around Wales, Porthmadog FC have given great support to our campaign over the past year and we very much look forward to what will be a memorable event.” “Show Racism the Red Card has been in existence for 11 years. The organisation aims to harness the high profile of professional footballers to combat racism in society. We use footballers as anti-racist role models in our educational resources which have been acclaimed throughout Europe.” Show Racism the Red Card will distribute free resources such as posters, magazines and stickers to all who attend the event. 01/11/07 Defnyddiwyd chwaraewr wedi'i wahardd yn erbyn Port / Suspended player used agianst Port ![]() Port's next opponents - Port Talbot - have been handed a £500 by the Football Association for playing a suspended player in their 7-2 victory against Porthmadog in the Premier Cup earlier this season. Gareth Phillips had been banned after picking up two yellow cards in the competition back in 2004! Cards picked up in the Premier Cup are considered separately to those received in league matches. 01/11/07 Yr Ail Dîm ym Mis Hydref / Reserves October Round-up Roedd mis Hydref yn un distaw i’r ail dîm. Oherwydd problemau cofrestru’r myfyrwyr, gohiriwyd gêmau yn erbyn Prifysgol Bangor. Chwaraewyd y gêm o’r diwedd ar 30 Hydref gyda Port yn fuddugol o 3-1. Dyma’r unig gêm gynghrair a chwaraewyd yn ystod y mis. Chwaraewyd Rownd 1af Tarian Eryri –y gystadleuaeth a enillwyd gan yr Ail Dîm y tymor diwethaf. Y gwrthwynebwyr oedd y cymdogion Llanystumdwy. Aeth y gêm i amser ychwanegol gyda Idan Williams yn sgorio i sicrhau’r fuddugoliaeth i Lanystumdwy. Aeth Llanystumdwy ymlaen yn yr hanner cyntaf diolch i gôl gan Meirion Pritchard ond aeth gôl Adrian Jones, pedair munud o’r diwedd, a’r gêm i amser ychwanegol. October was a month of relative inactivity for the reserves. Due to registration problems for the students, games against Bangor University had to be called off. Eventually the game was played on October 30th with Port running out winners by 3-1. This was the only league fixture completed during the month. The only other game played was in the Eryri Shield 1st Round. Port Reserves won this competition last season but this time went out to neighbours Llanystumdwy in a contest that went to extra time. Idan Williams’ goal won it for Llanystumdwy. Llanystumdwy went ahead in the opening half through Meirion Pritchard but Adrian Jones’s goal four minutes from time took the game into extra time. 29/10/07 Y Clubhouse –y lle i gynnal eich parti Nadolig neu unrhyw ddathliad / The Clubhouse –ideal venue for your Christmas Party or Celebration. Mae ‘clubhouse’ newydd CPD Porthmadog eisoes yn profi i fod yn lleoliad delfrydol ar gyfer partïon a phob math o achlysuron arbennig. Mae’r ffaith fod yna ddigonedd o le, ynghyd ag awyrgylch gynnes, wedi profi yn boblogaidd iawn gyda’r nifer dda sydd yn barod wedi defnyddio’r lle ar gyfer eu dathliadau neu gweithgareddau arbennig. Eisoes mae’r lle wedi’i logi ar gyfer partïon, cyrsiau galwedigaethol a digwyddiadau cymdeithasol ac mae’r rhai sydd wedi’u ddefnyddio yn barod yn llawn canmoliaeth o’r lle. Yn ogystal â stafell ardderchog, mae llawer yn gweld fod cyfleustra’r parcio yn fonws mawr. Er mwyn symud ymlaen ag adeiladu’r clubhouse, cafwyd grant gan Uwch Gynghrair Cymru ar gyfer y toiledau ac er mwyn gwella’r tir o gwmpas a benthyciad o’r Co-operative Loan Fund ar gyfer yr adeilad ei hun. Y bwriad ydy sicrhau adnodd i’r ardal leol gyda’r clwb hefyd yn trefnu digwyddiadau fel cystadlaethau dartiau, nosweithiau cwis, jazz, canu gwerin a chanu gwlad. Yn barod mae nosweithiau Bingo ar nos Lun wedi cychwyn gyda’r arwyddion am gefnogaeth yn dda iawn. Os oes gennych ddathliad ar y gweill neu barti Nadolig, cysylltwch â Gerallt Owen ar 079200 25338 i weld os ydy’r clubhouse ar gael. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Porthmadog FC’s new clubhouse is already proving to be an ideal venue for parties and special occasions. The ample space and warm atmosphere it can provide is already proving to be popular with those who have used it for their celebrations and events. It has been booked for parties, works courses and social events and those who have used the facility have been lavish in their praise. As well as the facility itself, there is also plenty of convenient parking which many find a bonus. A grant from the Welsh Premier League helped to provide toilet facilities and hard standing and also a loan from the Co-operative Loan Fund has enabled the club to proceed and build the Clubhouse. The intention is to provide a facility for the local area with the club also organising a programme of events such as quizzes, darts tournaments, jazz, folk and country music evenings. Already a Monday Bingo Night has started and the early signs suggest that it will be well supported. Celebrating a special occasion? Having a Christmas Party? Contact Gerallt Owen on 079200 25338 to see if the clubhouse is available. 29/10/07 Adam Docker yng Nghwpan y Byd / Adam Docker and the World Cup qualifier ![]() Adam Docker, playing under the name Adam Karim, was not included in the squad which went down 7-0 in the first leg World Cup Qualifier 2010 to Iraq but was amongst the unused substitutes for the second leg played in Aleppo, Syria yesterday (October 28th). Pakistan fared better in this game holding their opponents to a goal less draw. Details of the matches can be found at www.fifa.com. 25/10/07 Adam Docker a Phacistan yn colli'n drwm / Adam Docker’s Pakistan suffer heavy defeat. ![]() There was little luck for Adam Docker and the Pakistan squad in their World Cup qualifier in Lahore against the 2007 Asian Cup holders, Iraq. They went down by 7-0 with Mahdi Karim netting four times for Iraq. There can now be little to look forward to in the second leg which will be played in Syria on October 28th. 24/10/07 Dyddiau prysur i Viv / A busy time for Viv ![]() “Profodd yn 10 diwrnod prysur tu hwnt ers i mi gytuno i ddychwelyd i’r clwb i helpu allan. Mae wedi bod yn un gyfres hir o alwadau ffôn at chwaraewyr, swyddogion y clwb a llawer un arall i weld pwy sydd ar gael i chwarae, i adrefnu gêm Caernarfon, i gadarnhau’r rheolau ynglyn â’r ffenest drosglwyddo ynghyd â llawer mwy o faterion. Cawsom dair gêm mewn wythnos ac mae hyn wedi ychwanegu at y teimlad fod pob dim yn symud yn hynod o gyflym. Ar ôl gweld y tîm yn chwarae, mae’n amlwg fod llawer o waith i’w wneud. Bydd rhaid gweithio ar lefelau ffitrwydd yr hogiau. Roedd hwn yn fater a gafodd lawer o sylw drwy gydol fy nghyfnod blaenorol gyda’r clwb ac fydd yn cymryd mis i gael y safonau ffitrwydd i’r lefel sydd angen. Mae nifer o anafiadau yn dal i’n rhwystro ond pan ddaw pawb yn ôl fe wnaiff pethau wella. Y sioc fwyaf wrth ddod yn ôl ydy methu arwyddo neb! Gyda’r ffenest drosglwyddo wedi cau a’r rheol un chwaraewr un clwb, bydd yn rhaid gweithio gyda’r hyn sydd yma. Yn ffodus bydd yn rhaid i bawb gadw at y rheolau ac mae nifer o glybiau eraill hefyd yn ei chael yn anodd. Mae’n anoddach fyth wrth ddod i mewn yn hwyr a phan nad oeddech chi yma pan arwyddwyd y chwaraewyr.” In his ‘View from the Bench’ in Saturday’s Match Programme, caretaker manager Viv Williams revealed what it has been like since his return. “It has proved to be a very hectic 10 days since I agreed to return to the club to help out. It has been a seemingly never ending series of phone calls to players, club officials and others to check availability, rearrange the Caernarfon game, check the new transfer window rules and much, much more. We have had three games in a week which has added to the sense of everything moving at a tremendous pace. Having now seen the team play, there is a lot to do. We need to work on players’ fitness levels. This was always a major factor throughout my previous period with the club and it will take a month to get fitness to the necessary level. We are still dogged by a few injuries which are hampering us and hopefully, when these clear up and everyone is fully fit, then things will improve. However the biggest shock since coming back is not being able to sign anyone! With the transfer window closed and the one player one club rule, we have to work with what we have. Fortunately everyone has to play by the same rules and a number of other clubs are also finding it hard. It is even harder when you have to come in half way through and weren’t involved when the signings were made.” 24/10/07 Western Mail yn datgelu’r stori am Clayton! / Western Mail breaks the news about Clayton! ![]() ‘Porthmadog show Blackmore the door.’ This is the headline on the Western Mail’s ‘LoWdown’ column for this morning (October 24th). The story was broken by this website on the 8th October!! The problems related to travel between north and south are well known but now there appear to be a problem with the bush telegraph as well! 18/10/07 Pythefnos ‘Dangoswch y Cerdyn Coch i Hiliaeth’ / 'Show Racism the Red Card' Fortnight ![]() Mwy o fanylion ar y dudalen erthyglau - mwy... Adam will play for Pakistan under the name Adam Karim and qualifies for them through his family links with that country. Zesh Rehman of QPR, Adnan Ahmed of Tranmere Rovers and Amjad Iqbal of Farsley Celtic are other UK-based players selected for the squad. The 21 year old had the misfortune to suffer an injury during the game and subsequently also missed last night’s (Wednesday) League Cup tie at Llangefni. During pre-season, Kyle spent a period on trial with Rotherham United, another English League Two club. Kyle Jacobs joined Porthmadog a month ago making his debut against Airbus Broughton and has up to date made six appearances in defence and midfield for Porthmadog. 11/10/07 Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru Ail Rownd / Welsh Youth Cup Round 2 Yn dilyn eu buddugoliaeth gyffrous dros Llangefni yn rownd gyntaf y gystadleuaeth, bydd rhaid i ieuenctid Port ymweld â Glan Conwy yn yr ail rownd. The matches are to be played on the 28th October 2007 with a 2.00pm kick off. Above are the remaining north Wales games in the round. 09/10/07 Cwpan y Gynghrair - Rhagolwg / League Cup - Preview ![]() The Llangefni League Cup tie takes on new significance in view of the off the field changes at the Traeth. Llangefni are firm favourites to proceed to the next stage of the League Cup after picking up six points from their two victories leaving Caernarfon and Porthmadog each with one point. Porthmadog FC should be very relieved that the highly respected Viv Williams is prepared to take on such a difficult task even on a temporary basis. They will look for a morale booster from tomorrow night’s game ahead of the WPL encounters to come. Already almost a quarter of the league programme has been played with key home matches against Neath, Caernarfon and Cefn Druids, which should have produced points, all being lost. The players have a manager in charge that they obviously respect but they will need to, very quickly, start picking up points in an increasingly difficult league. At the moment the position of the players brought in by Clayton Blackmore from over the border is not clear, but what is clear is that there can be no new signings until January. The current squad will have to show the commitment needed to get us out of this hole -starting at Llangefni. 09/10/07 Academi CPD Porthmadog / Porthmadog FC Academy Mae’n dda gan Academi CPD Porthmadog gadarnhau amseroedd y sesiynau hyfforddi i’r grwpiau oed amrywiol ar gyfer y tymor. Bydd hyn yn rhoi cyfle ac amser i’r Clwb ystyried y ffordd orau ymlaen gan wybod bod yna ddwylo profiadol wrth y llyw. Bydd cefnogwyr yn cofio mae’n siŵr i Viv arwain y clwb ar rediad di guro o saith gêm y tro diwethaf y cymrodd yr awenau dros dro. ![]() Looking to the future, the Porthmadog FC board have asked former manager Viv Williams to take over the reins on a temporary basis. This will give the club a breathing space knowing that they have a safe pair of hands at the wheel while they consider the best way forward. Supporters will no doubt recall that the last time Viv took over in a temporary role the team went on an unbeaten run of seven games. |
