Ar ôl chwarae Bangor a’r Rhyl mewn cyfnod o bedwar diwrnod, mae yna berygl i weld gêm yn erbyn Airbus fel un ‘hawddach’. Byddai hynny yn ffordd wirion iawn i edrych ar bethau gan fod Airbus wedi cadarnhau eu sefyllfa yn UGC wrth orffen 2007/08 yn 12fed ac wedi dechrau’r tymor hwn gyda dwy fuddugoliaeth ac roeddent yn anffodus iawn i beidio cael o leiaf pwynt o’u hymweliad â Llanelli. Roedd angen cic o’r smotyn a gôl funud olaf amheus i’w rhwyd eu hun gan Airbus i’r pencampwyr sicrhau’r pwyntiau. Bron i flwyddyn yn ôl i’r diwrnod, collodd Port o 2-0 ar y Maes Awyr a gorffennodd y gêm gyfatebol ar Y Traeth yn gyfartal 2-2. Ond roedd yna obaith yn y perfformiad yn erbyn Y Rhyl gyda chanol cae yn edrych dipyn fwy cystadleuol a Mark Thomas yn dangos addewid i setlo safle problemus y cefnwr de. Mae yna gynghrair o fewn cynghrair yn UGC ac mae’n angenrheidiol i godi pwyntiau o’r math yma o gêm. Mae yna newidiadau wedi bod ar Y Maes Awyr dros yr haf gyda Chris Harrison yn rheolwr ar ôl i Gareth Owen symud i’r Rhyl. Eisoes mae’r ymosodwr peryg James McIntosh wedi cael hyd i’r rhwyd ac yng ngharfan Airbus mae dau o gyn chwaraewyr Port sef Gareth Caughter a Richard Smart. Ymwelwch â i roi bet ar Airbus v Porthmadog. Having played Bangor and Rhyl within the space of four days, there could be a temptation to think of Airbus as an ‘easier’ game. That would be very foolish as Airbus completed a good consolidating season in 2007/08 finishing in 12th place and have started well this season recording two victories and were very unlucky not to get at least a point from their visit to Llanelli. Last season’s champions needed a penalty and a hotly disputed last minute own goal to collect the points. Almost a year ago to the day, Airbus defeated Port by 2-0 on the Airfield whilst last season’s game at the Traeth ended all square 2-2. But there were reasons for hope in the improved Port performance against Rhyl with the midfield looking far more competitive and Mark Thomas looking as though he could solve the problem right back position. There is a league within a league in the WPL so getting points from games like these is vital. There have been changes at the Airfield with Chris Harrison coming in as manager following the departure of Gareth Owen to Rhyl. Dangerman James McIntosh has already found the net and in the Airbus squad are former Port players Richard Smart and Gareth Caughter. Visit to place a bet on Airbus v Porthmadog. 08/09/08 Cynnig gan glwb Hwlffordd / An offer from Haverfordwest County Mae clwb Hwlffordd yn cynnig un o’u hystafelloedd croeso i’r clybiau (noddwyr neu cefnogwyr) sydd yn ymweld â chae Dolybont. Dywed David Hughes (cyfarwyddwr masnachol) “Rydym yn cynnig pecyn sydd yn roi gwerth pres da i grwpiau fyny at 12 o bobl @ £25.00 y pen. Mae’r pecyn yn cynnwys mynediad am ddim i’r cae, rhaglen, diodydd yn yr ystafell groeso (rhewgell wedi’i llanw gyda lager, cwrw, seidr, diodydd ysgafn yn ôl eich cais) yn ogystal â bwffe llawn.” Os oes gennych ddiddordeb cysylltwch â David Hughes e-bost: Hughesdbt@aol.com Bydd y gêm rhwng Hwlffordd a Port ar 29 Tachwedd Haverfordwest County are making a hospitality suite available to visiting clubs (sponsors or supporters). Their commercial director David Hughes says “We offer an exceptionally good value package for up to 12 people @ £25.00 per head. The package includes free entrance to the ground, complimentary programme, drinks in the suite (we fill up a fridge with lager, beer, cider, soft drinks as requested) and a full buffet.” Anyone interested should contact David Hughes e-mail Hughesdbt@aol.com The game between Haverfordwest County and Port will be on 29 November. 07/09/08 Port ddim i geisio am drwydded UEFA / Port not to go for UEFA Licence Mae CPD Porthmadog yn un o’r chwe clwb a benderfynodd beidio gwneud cais i fod yn rhan o’r broses flynyddol am Drwydded UEFA. Y pump arall ydy Airbus Brychdyn, Caernarfon, Caersws, Derwyddon Cefn a’r Drenewydd. Golyga hyn na fyddant yn cael mynediad i gystadlaethau Ewrop hyd yn oed pe byddent yn gorffen yn y Tri Uchaf neu yn ennill Cwpan Cymru eleni. Bydd y chwech yn gwneud cais am y Drwydded Ddomestig, trwydded a fydd yn angenrheidiol i glybiau sicrhau erbyn 2009/10 er mwyn cadw eu lle yn y Gynghrair genedlaethol yn 2010/11. Esboniodd Andrew Howard, swyddog trwyddedu’r Gymdeithas, i wefan swyddogol UGC. “Mae’r chwe clwb sydd wedi penderfynu peidio ceisio am Drwydded UEFA wedi gwneud y penderfyniad cywir mwy na thebyg. Ni allai yr un o’r chwech gwrdd a’r meini prawf ar gyfer rheolwyr ar hyn o bryd na chwaith phan fydd yr asesiad yn cymryd lle yn Ebrill a Mai, heblaw eu bod yn newid rheolwr. Rwyf wedi siarad mewn dyfnder gyda un neu ddau o glybiau ond yn y pendraw Byrddau’r clybiau unigol sydd wedi gwneud y penderfyniad.” Rhai o’r meini prawf anoddaf i glybiau gyfarfod ydy i’r rheolwr fod a Thrwydded Broffesiynol neu yn paratoi ar ei gyfer (neu a 5 mlynedd o brofiad), i bob chwaraewr gael prawf Echocardiogram a prawf meddygol ac ECG blynyddol. Hefyd mae’n rhaid cael awdit blynyddol o’r cyfrifon a hynny heb unrhyw ‘disclaimers of opinion’ ar y fantolen ariannol. CPD Porthmadog is one of six WPL clubs who have not applied to go through the annual procedure for an UEFA Club Licence. The other five clubs are Airbus UK Broughton, Caernarfon Town, Caersws FC, NEWI Cefn Druids and Newtown AFC. This means that they will not be permitted to play in Europe, even if they finish in the Top Three or win the Welsh Cup this season. They will however be applying for a Domestic License which is essential for clubs to achieve in 2009/10 for participation in the League in 2010/11. FAW Club Licensing Officer Andrew Howard explained to the official WPL website, "The six clubs that have decided not to go for the UEFA Licence have probably made the correct decision. None of the clubs meet the Managerial Criteria at the moment and neither will they when the Licence is assessed in April and May, unless a new Manager comes in. I have spoken in depth to a couple of the clubs and their Board of Directors have ultimately taken the decision.” Some of the most difficult UEFA criteria for clubs to achieve are for the Manager to have or be studying for a Pro Licence (or have five years experience), all players must undergo an Echocardiogram and have annual Medicals and ECG's and all clubs must have a annually audited accounts with no disclaimers of opinion on the Balance Sheet. 07/09/08 Yr Ail Dîm yn Awst / Reserves August Round-up Chwaraeodd yr ail dîm bump o weithiau yn ystod y mis gan aros yn ddiguro ar y diwedd. Oherwydd y tywydd difrifol roedd rhaid gohirio gêm gyntaf y tymor yn erbyn Blaenau Ffestiniog . Ond ar y nos Fawrth ganlynol curodd tîm yn cynnwys nifer dda o chwaraewyr y tîm cyntaf, a oedd yn paratoi at y tymor newydd, Llangefni o 5-3. Yn dilyn hyn cafwyd dwy fuddugoliaeth dda y gyntaf o 4-1 o’r ddwy adref yn erbyn Biwmares, gyda Danny Rylance yn sgorio hat tric a Mark Cook yn ychwanegu’r llall, a buddugoliaeth sylweddol arall dros y newydd ddyfodiaid Rhiwlas o 4-0. Yn dilyn y tair buddugoliaeth cafwyd dyw gêm gyfartal gyda’r ddwy yn gorffen a’r sgôr yn 2-2. Roedd y gyntaf yn erbyn y cymdogion Llanystumdwy ar Y Traeth a’r ail yn y Gaerwen pan rhoddodd Marc Cook Port ar y blaen ddwywaith ond daeth gôl ar ôl 88th munud a’r sgôr yn gyfartal. Yn wythnosau cyntaf y tymor cafodd nifer o chwaraewyr yr ail dîm alwad i’r tîm cyntaf. Dechreuodd Iwan Tomos yn erbyn Y Rhyl a creodd argraff dda iawn ac ymddangosodd Matthew Hughes unwaith eto fel eilydd. Un arall yn gwneud ei ail ymddangosiad fel eilydd oedd y chwaraewr ifanc addawol Danny Rylance a daeth Adam Griffiths ymlaen yn hwyr yn erbyn Caersws ar Y Traeth. The reserves played five games in August and remained unbeaten at the end of the month. The atrocious summer weather meant the cancellation of the August 9th opener against Blaenau Ffestiniog. But a team containing several first team players, using the game as preparation for the new season, gained a 5-3 victory over Llangefni on the following Tuesday. Two good wins followed by 4-1 at home to Beaumaris with Danny Rylance scoring a hat-trick and Mark Cook also getting on the score sheet and an equally emphatic win over league newcomers Rhiwlas by 4-0. Following these three straight wins the reserves were twice held to 2-2 draws, the first at the Traeth against local rivals Llanystumdwy and in their last game of the month there was an away draw at early leaders Gaerwen. Here Mark Cook put them ahead twice but an 88th minute equaliser gave the Anglesey club a share of the points. The start of the season has seen several reserve team players promoted to first team duties. Iwan Tomos started and performed well against Rhyl while Matthew Hughes made another substitute appearance. Also making his second substitute appearance in that game was youngster Danny Rylance while Adam Griffiths came on late against Caersws in the League Cup. 04/09/08 Treialon Academi Porthmadog / Porthmadog Academy Trials Bydd Academi CP Porthmadog yn cynnal treialon y timau ieuenctid ar 14/09/08. Gyrrodd buddugoliaeth Y Rhyl dros y pencampwyr Llanelli, a welwyd ar S4C, ysgytwad drwy UGC a hynny hyd yn oed ymysg y clybiau sydd â chyllid mawr. Yn ddigon eironig y prif ddyn yn Y Rhyl bellach ydy Allan Bickerstaff, is-reolwr ar Y Traeth llynedd a’r gwr a helpodd i sicrhau buddugoliaeth Port dros Y Rhyl yn y diweddglo dramatig i dymor 2007/08. Hefyd gyda’r Rhyl mae cyn reolwr Port, Osian Roberts, a diddorol oedd sylwi nos Sadwrn ar y defnydd o gynlluniau ciciau cornel a oedd unwaith mor gyfarwydd ar Y Traeth. Newid diddorol arall ydy fod ymosodwr Port, Carl Owen, wedi symud i’r Rhyl a’r sgoriwr mwyaf yn hanes UGC, Marc Lloyd Williams yn symud y ffordd arall. Mae un peth yn bendant, bydd Y Rhyl yn fwy penderfynol o sicrhau’r triphwynt nag yr oeddent hyd yn oed ar eu hymweliad diwethaf –sef gêm olaf John Hulse. Os ydy Port i greu argraff nos Wener, bydd rhaid torri allan y camgymeriadau sydd wedi britho eu perfformiadau y tymor hwn. Ar ôl i dair gôl gael eu sgorio yn eu herbyn mewn 26 munud ar Ffordd Ffarar, dangoswyd dipyn o’r cymeriad sydd ei angen ar y lefel yma. Cynyddwyd yr ymdrech ac wrth rhoi llai o le i’w gwrthwynebwyr yng nghanol y cae, gwnaed bywyd yn anoddach i Fangor. Bydd angen y math yma o berfformiad a mwy nos Wener. Ymwelwch â i roi bet ar Porthmadog v Rhyl. This is not the game manager Paul Whelan would have chosen as he sets about rebuilding the Porthmadog squad. Last Saturday’s televised Rhyl victory over champions Llanelli sent tremors through the WPL, even amongst the big budget sides. Ironically the man in charge at Rhyl is Allan Bickerstaff, who was last season assistant manager at the Traeth and helped plot the Porthmadog victory over Rhyl in the dramatic finale to the 2007/08 season. Also at Rhyl is former Port manager, Osian Roberts, and it was interesting to note that some of the corner kick routines used against Llanelli were once a familiar feature at the Traeth. Another interesting connection is the swap of strikers with Carl Owen switching from Port to Rhyl and Marc Lloyd Williams, the league’s all-time leading goal scorer, moving in the opposite direction. One thing is certain, Rhyl will want the three points on Friday even more than they did in last season’s encounter, a game which turned out to be John Hulse’s 200th and final game in charge. If Port are to make an impression on Friday they will need to cut out the errors which have been such a disappointing feature of their game this season. After conceding three goals in the first 26 minutes at Farrar Road, they showed some of the character needed to cope at this level. They upped their workrate, closed down in midfield and made life more difficult for Bangor. They will need this kind of performance and more on Friday. Visit to place a bet on Porthmadog v Rhyl. 04/09/08 Hanes o’r gorffennol /Blast from the past Sgoriodd Marc Lloyd Williams ei gôl gyntaf dros Port ers 1994 pan drawodd ei gic rydd gefn y rhwyd yng Nghaersws ddydd Sadwrn. Piti na fyddai wedi bod y gôl i ennill y gêm. Y tro diwethaf i Jiws sgorio mewn crys Port oedd ar Y Traeth ar 30 Ebrill 1994 yn erbyn Ton Pentre. Ar y diwrnod aeth ymlaen i sgorio hat tric gyda Port yn ennill y gêm o 5-2. Dim sioc fod Dave Taylor hefyd ymysg y sgorwyr! Marc Lloyd Williams scored his first goal for Port since 1994 when he curled a 25 yard free kick into the top of the Caersws net last Saturday (30 August). Pity it wasn’t a winning goal! The last time Jiws found the net in a Port shirt was on 30 April 1994 at the Traeth against Ton Pentre and on that day he went on to complete a hat trick and for the record Port won by 5-2. Needless to say Dave Taylor also scored! 01/09/08 Port v Trallwng ar Sgorio Cymru / Port v Welshpool on Sgorio Cymru Bydd gêm gartref Porthmadog yn erbyn y Trallwng ar 20 Hydref yn brif gêm ar raglen S4C Sgorio Cymru. Bydd hynny’n golygu bod y gic gyntaf yn cael ei symud i 2.00pm. Mae’n dda gweld sylw S4C i’r gynghrair yn parhau, gyda’r cyhoeddiad yr wythnos diwethaf y bydd dwy gêm fyw arall o Uwch Gynghrair Cymru yn cael eu darlledu cyn diwedd y flwyddyn. Porthmadog’s home match against Welshpool on 20 October will be the feature match on S4C’s Sgorio Cymru. This means that kick-off time will be brought forward to 2.00pm. It’s good to see the continued coverage of the league on S4C, with the announcement last week that two further live matches from the Welsh Premier will be broadcast before the year’s end. 31/08/08 Rhagolwg: v Bangor / Preview: v Bangor Mae Paul Whelan yn wynebu ar wythnos anodd iawn gan ddechrau gyda’r gêm Cwpan y Gynghrair ar Ffordd Ffarar yn erbyn tîm sydd wedi rhoi curfa o 6-0 iddynt. Heb fuddugoliaeth hyd yma ac ychydig iawn o opsiynau gwahanol na chwaith amser i baratoi, gwelodd ei dîm yn colli tair gôl yng Nghaersws o ganlyniad i gamgymeriadau unigol. Hyd yma, daeth y perfformiad amddiffynnol gorau yng Nghaerfyrddin gyda’r cynllun o chwarae Richie Owen o flaen y pedwar cefn yn gweithio’n dda. Yn anffodus, byddai hyn yn golygu chwarae ond un yn y blaen a John Rowley a Marc Lloyd Williams oedd ein chwaraewyr gorau yng Nghaersws. Bydd y tîm yn ymwybodol o’r angen i gau Bangor i lawr yng nghanol cae ac i gyfyngu ar Chris Sharp, y chwaraewr tal a achosodd gymaint o broblemau ar Y Traeth. Rhaid i Port gymryd peth gobaith o’r ffaith iddynt, yn y blynyddoedd diwethaf, wneud bywyd yn ddigon anodd i Fangor ar Ffordd Ffarar. Pennau i fyny hogiau ac amdani. Paul Whelan faces a difficult week starting with a League Cup tie at Farrar Road against the team who have already inflicted a 6-0 drubbing on them. Without a win so far, the manager does not have too many options and little time to prepare, after seeing his team, at Caersws, concede three more goals resulting from individual errors. The best defensive performance so far came at Carmarthen where using Richie Owen to provide extra protection in front of the back four seemed to work quite well. Unfortunately that would mean playing one up front and front men, John Rowley and Marc Lloyd Williams, were the best performers at Caersws. The team are well aware that they will need to raise their game on Tuesday and close down far more quickly in midfield and restrict the lanky figure of Chris Sharp who did much of the damage at the Traeth. Port must take some comfort from their recent past performances at Farrar Road where they have made life difficult for Bangor. Heads up lads and go for it. 27/08/08 Rhagolwg: v Caersws / Preview: v Caersws Un o’r sylwadau callaf a wnaed yn dilyn gêm Bangor oedd yr un ar y Fforwm Drafod, fforwm sydd weithiau’n cael ei beirniadu. Y sylw oedd “... ac am y canlyniad, mae o’n digwydd, symudwch ymlaen.” Dyna sydd angen i Port wneud ddydd Sadwrn yn erbyn Caersws, y tîm a wthiwyd ganddynt i’r 17eg safle yn y diweddglo dramatig i’r tymor diwethaf. Er ei bod yn gynnar yn y tymor, does dim angen atgoffa unrhyw un ein bod wedi cael trafferth eithriadol i lusgo’n hunain o’r twll roeddem ynddo yn dilyn y cychwyn trychinebus i’r tymor diwethaf. Bydd y gêm hon yn dod â Dave Taylor, rheolwr Caersws, a Marc Lloyd Williams, sydd newydd ddychwelyd i’r Traeth, i wrthwynebu’i gilydd. Yn 1993/94 ffurfiodd y ddau y bartneriaeth sgorio orau yn y gynghrair, gan rwydo 70 o goliau rhyngddynt y tymor hwnnw. Byddai un neu ddwy o’r goliau hynny gan ‘Jiws’ ddydd Sadwrn yn ddefnyddiol iawn. Ar ôl colli chwaraewyr profiadol fel Graham Evans a Colin Reynolds, mae Dave Taylor wedi adeiladu carfan newydd dros yr haf . Ymysg y garfan bresennol, mae cyn chwaraewyr Port, Graham Randles a Dave Hughes, a chafodd Dave gêm dda iawn yn erbyn Port yng Nghwpan Y Gynghrair. Mae’r golled honno, gyda tîm oedd wedi’i wanhau drwy anafiadau, yn anogaeth pellach i sicrhau buddugoliaeth ddydd Sadwrn. Mae Port wedi dychwelyd o Gaersws gyda’r tri phwynt ar y ddau ymweliad diwethaf. Amdani i wneud y ddau yn dri ddydd Sadwrn hogiau! Ymwelwch â i roi bet ar Caersws v Porthmadog. Probably the wisest comment made following the Bangor game was on the sometimes maligned Fan’s Forum “… as for the result, it happens, just move on.” That is what Port must do on Saturday as they take on Caersws, the team whom they pushed into 17th spot in the table on the final day of the season. Though these are early days in the season, no one will need reminding that our bad start last season proved almost impossible to break out of. The game puts the outstanding goal scoring duo of Dave Taylor, the Caersws manager, and Marc Lloyd Williams, who has just returned to the Traeth, in opposite camps. In season 1993/94 this pairing scored a remarkable joint total of 70 goals for Port and one or two of those from ‘Jiws’ on Saturday, would be more than useful. Dave Taylor, with experienced players like Graham Evans and Colin Reynolds moving on, has rebuilt the Caersws team over the summer. Amongst his new squad are ex-Port players Graham Randles and Dave Hughes -who turned in an excellent performance in the League Cup clash between the two sides. The League Cup defeat, with a weakened side, gives Port an added incentive to prove a point on Saturday. Port have returned from their last two visits to the Recreation Ground with all three points and let’s hope that we can make it three in a row on Saturday. Visit to place a bet on Caersws v Porthmadog. 26/08/08 Manylion am gig Beatles For Sale / Details of the Beatles For Sale gig Bydd Clwb Pêl-droed Porthmadog yn troi'r cloc yn ôl gwta 40 mlynedd nos Sadwrn (30 Awst) pan fydd un o grwpiau teyrnged y Beatles gorau Prydain, BEATLES FOR SALE, yn ymddangos ar y Traeth, ac mae’n bosibl mai dyma'r tro cyntaf erioed i grwp teyrnged o'r fath safon i ymweld â De Gwynedd. Bydd y noson yn cychwyn am 8pm ac yn cael ei chynnal mewn pabell sydd wedi ei haddasu i greu lle eistedd i’r gynulleidfa mewn steil clwb nos gan gynnwys bar. Yn ôl y trefnwyr, os bydd hon yn llwyddiant, y bwriad yw gwahodd mwy o fandiau teyrnged i'r ardal dros y 12 mis nesaf. Yn ôl un o'r trefnwyr, Dafydd Wyn Jones, "mae bandiau teyrnged bellach yn boblogaidd iawn gyda phobl o bob oedran, y rhai hynny ohonom a fu fyw trwy'r cyfnod a'r rhai iau sydd wedi clywed y gerddoriaeth gan eu tadau neu eu teidiau hyd yn oed! 'Roedd y chwedegau yn gyfnod euraidd i'r clwb hwn hefyd, degawd pan oedd y Beatles yn teyrnasu. Ein gobaith felly trwy wahodd y 'Beatles' yn ôl yw ceisio sefydlu oes aur arall ar y cae!" Mae tocynnau ar gael yn Recordiau Cob, Porthmadog a Bangor, Siop Kaleidoscop yn Port ac yn y clwb cymdeithasol ar y Traeth. Byddant ar gael ar y noson hefyd neu trwy ffonio 07810057444. Erthygl flaenorol am y gig. Porthmadog Football Club will be turning the clock back 40 years this Saturday (30 August) when it hosts one of the UK's best Beatles tribute bands, BEATLES FOR SALE, and this is probably the first time ever a top class tribute band has played in South Gwynedd. The event, starting at 8pm, will be held in a marquee converted to seat the audience night club style complete with bar. The organisers say that if this proves a success then evenings with other tribute bands will follow over the next 12 months. "Tribute bands are now very popular and draw a wide range of age groups from those of us who lived through those times to much younger people who have heard the music through their fathers or even grandfathers!" said Dafydd Wyn Jones "Coincidentally one of the football club's golden eras was the 1960's,when Mel Charles graced the Traeth, and was also the Beatles heyday Therefore we hope that by bringing back the Beatles we can also embark on another golden era on the pitch!" Tickets are available at Cob Records Porthmadog and Bangor, Kaleidoscope in Porthmadog and the clubhouse at the Traeth They will also be available on the evening or by phoning 07810057444. Previous article on the gig. 26/08/08 Noddwyr newydd ond yr hen i ddal ymlaen / New Sponsors but the old to remain Bydd yna noddwyr newydd i’r tîm cyntaf ar gyfer 2008/09. Y cwmni lleol ‘Porthmadog Services Group’ yw’r noddwyr newydd gyda enwau dau o’i is-gwmnïau sef Porthmadog Demolition a Blaen Cefn Skips yn ymddangos ar y crysau newydd. Mae’n bleser gan y clwb gyhoeddi enw’r noddwyr newydd ac i roi diolch enfawr i Porthmadog Services am eu haelioni. Fel rhan o’r trefniant, mae biniau ailgylchu wedi’u gosod ar Y Traeth a gofynnir i gefnogwyr eu defnyddio i gael gwared ar ganiau a photeli mewn modd cyfrifol. Hefyd dymuna’r clwb gyhoeddi fod Pysgod a Sglodion Allports, a fu yn noddwyr hael dros nifer o flynyddoedd, yn mynd i gadw eu cysylltiad â’r clwb drwy noddi’r ail dîm. Mae’r clwb yn ddiolchgar iawn i John Allport am ei holl haelioni yn y gorffennol a’r presennol. Port have announced a change of first team sponsors for 2008/09. The local company, Porthmadog Services Group is the new sponsor with the names of two of its subsidiaries Porthmadog Demolition and Blaen Cefn Skips appearing on the new shirts. The club is pleased to announce the new deal and to give a massive thank you to Porthmadog Services for their generosity. As a part of the Sponsorship package, recycling bins will be available at the ground and supporters are asked to dispose of their cans and bottles responsibly. The club is also pleased to announce that, though stepping down after numerous years of generous sponsorship, Allport’s Fish and Chips will remain with the club and become the reserve team sponsors. The club is very grateful to John Allport for his past and continuing generosity. 25/08/08 Canfed gêm i Ryan / Ryan gets his century Y gêm ddydd Sadwrn yn erbyn Bangor oedd 100fed gêm Uwch Gynghrair Cymru Ryan Davies dros Borthmadog. Byddai capten y clwb wedi dymuno gwell canlyniad i ddathlu’r achlysur ond mae pawb yn y clwb yn diolch iddo ac yn ei longyfarch. Mewn un ystyr, roedd ddydd Sadwrn yn hollol nodweddiadol o’r math o anlwc mae Ryan wedi’i gael efo anafiadau. Roedd yr anaf a gafodd yn yr hanner cyntaf yn drobwynt yn y gêm a bu’n rhaid ei eilyddio ar yr hanner. Mae hyn yn dilyn anaf i’w ben a gafodd yn ystod y gêm gyntaf yng Nghaerfyrddin. Heblaw am anafiadau, a olygodd iddo chwarae ond 11 gêm yn nhymor 2005/06 ac ond 11eg arall llynedd oherwydd iddo dorri ei ffêr, byddai Ryan wedi cyrraedd y cant erstalwm. Saturday’s game against his hometown club was Ryan Davies’s 100th WPL start for Porthmadog. The club captain would have wished for a more fitting way to celebrate the event than the heavy defeat, but nevertheless he is extended the warmest congratulations and thanks of all at the club. In many ways, Saturday was typical of some of the bad luck Ryan has had with injuries. His first half injury marked a turning point in the game and he had to be substituted at the interval. This follows the concussion he suffered in the season’s opening fixture at Carmarthen. But for injuries, which restricted him to 11 starts in 2005/06 and another 11 last season because of a broken ankle, Ryan would have reached the century mark some time ago. 25/08/08 Dewch, ymunwch â ni / Come and join us “Dewch ac ymunwch â ni” oedd galwad Paul Whelan yn ei golofn ‘View from the Bench’ yn y rhaglen (19/08/08) gan bwysleisio pwysigrwydd yr ail dîm i’r clwb. “Dim ond un neu ddau o anafiadau ac mae ein adnoddau wedi eu hymestyn hyd at dorri. Rwy’n croesawu ac yn annog unrhyw chwaraewyr o’r ardal sydd yn teimlo eu bod yn ddigon da i chwarae i Port gysylltu â’r clwb. Os y byddant yn ddigon da ac yn barod i weithio’n galed, fe gawn y cyfle,” oedd ei addewid. Eisoes mae Iwan Thomas a Matthew Hughes o ail dîm y llynedd wedi eu galw i garfan y tîm cyntaf a, gyda nifer o chwaraewyr allan nos Fawrth, roedd yna gyfle i’r ddau chwaraewr ifanc, Danny Rylance ac Adam Griffiths, ddod i’r cae fel eilyddion. Paul Whelan issued a ‘Come and join us’ call, in his ‘View from the Bench’ in the match programme (19/08/08), stressing the importance of the reserve team to the club. “Just a couple of injuries and it stretches your resources to breaking point. I welcome and urge any new players from the area who think they are good enough to play for Port, to contact the club. If they are worthy, work hard and are 100% committed they will be given the opportunity” he promised. Iwan Thomas and Matthew Hughes from last season’s reserve team have already received a call-up to the first team squad and with several players out last Tuesday youngsters Danny Rylance and Adam Griffiths found themselves making promising substitute appearances. 25/08/08 Mwy o luniau o gêm Bangor / More photos from the Bangor game Diolch i Jurek Biegus am y lluniau gwych yma o'r gêm yn erbyn Bangor - mwy... Thanks to Jurek Biegus for some more great photos from the game against Bangor - more... 21/08/08 Jiws yn arwyddo / Jiws signs for Port Mae Paul Whelan wedi cadw’r addewid i ychwanegu profiad i’w garfan drwy arwyddo y sgoriwr uchaf yn hanes Uwch Gynghrair Cymru (UGC) sef Marc Lloyd Williams. Bydd Marc yn dychwelyd i’r clwb lle cafodd ei brentisiaeth yn UGC, a lle ffurfiodd bartneriaeth beryglus o flaen y gôl gyda Dave Taylor. Symudodd Jiws i Fangor gan sgorio 120 o goliau i’r clwb hwnnw rhwng 1994 a 2002. Mae hefyd wedi chwarae i Aberystwyth, TNS, Y Drenewydd â’r Rhyl yn UGC gan sgorio yn rheolaidd i bob un o’r clybiau hynny. Yn ystod ei yrfa UGC mae eisoes wedi sgorio 247 o goliau mewn 354 (+ 42) o gemau. Mae hefyd wedi chwarae i Stockport County, Halifax a York City yng Nghynghrair Lloegr. Disgwylir i Marc wneud ei ymddangosiad cyntaf yn ôl yng nghrys Port ddydd Sadwrn, gan ychwanegu ychydig fwy o sbeis i’r gêm ddarbi ar Y Traeth yn erbyn Bangor. Croeso ’nol Jiws! Paul Whelan has moved, as he promised, to bring more experience into his squad and has signed the WPL’s all time leading scorer Marc Lloyd Williams. Marc will be returning to the club where he served his WPL apprenticeship from 1992-94. He scored 28 goals during those two seasons forming a lethal goal scoring partnership with Dave Taylor. Jiws moved on to Bangor City and scored 120 goals for that club between 1994 and 2002. He has also played for Aberystwyth, TNS, Newtown and Rhyl in the WPL and has scored goals regularly for all of these clubs, amassing a career total of 247 goals in 354 (+ 42) appearances. He also played for Stockport County, Halifax and York City in the English League. Marc is expected to make his return debut at the Traeth on Saturday and this will certainly add even more spice to the local derby against his former club Bangor City. Welcome back Jiws! 18/08/08 Caersws yng Nghwpan y Gynghrair / League Cup v Caersws Nos Fawrth (19 Awst) bydd Porthmadog a Chaersws yn cyfarfod ar Y Traeth yn y gyntaf o gemau Cwpan y Gynghrair. Eu gwrthwynebwyr eraill mewn grŵp o dri fydd Bangor. Synnwyd rhai gan fuddugoliaeth Caersws dros Gaernarfon, clwb sydd wedi arwyddo tîm newydd ar gyfer 2008/09. Un gôl gan Jamie Haynes ar ôl 37 munud oedd yn rhannu’r ddau. Ar y llaw arall, colli o un gôl oedd hanes Port yn erbyn Caerfyrddin, gwrthwynebwyr dipyn cryfach, sydd wedi ychwanegu at garfan oedd eisoes yn un gryf.. Bydd gêm nos Fawrth rhwng dau glwb a orffennodd yn safleoedd 16 ac 17 yn y gynghrair yn 2007/08. Y tro diwethaf i’r ddau gyfarfod oedd yng Nghaersws, gyda Port yn ennill yn gyfforddus diolch i hat tric gan Carl Owen. Ers hynny, mae llawer wedi newid yn enwedig yng Nghaersws lle mae cyn seren Port Dave Taylor wedi dod â nifer o wynebau newydd i’r garfan. Dylai’r gêm hon daflu ychydig o oleuni ar ragolygon y ddau glwb yn 2008/09 a’r ddau yn gobeithio peidio ail adrodd helyntion y tymor diwethaf. Tuesday evening (August 19th), Porthmadog meet Caersws on the Traeth and open their League Cup programme. Their other opponents, in a group of three, are Bangor City. Caersws surprised some with their opening day win over the revamped Caernarfon Town, thanks to Jamie Haynes’ 37 minute goal. Port, on the other hand, went down by a single goal against sterner opposition in the shape of Carmarthen Town who have added several new faces to an already strong squad. Tuesday’s game will be between the two clubs who finished 16th and 17th in the 2007/08 table. The last time the two clubs met was at the Recreation Ground and ended in a comfortable victory for Port, with Carl Owen scoring a hat trick. Much has changed since then, especially at Caersws, where former Port star Dave Taylor has brought in a number of new players. This game could be a pointer to the fortunes of the two clubs in 2008/09 and whether they will be able to avoid the tribulations of last season. 18/08/08 Neges i glwb Port ’gan John Gwynfor / John Gwynfor’s message to the club Derbyniwyd neges gan John Gwynfor Jones cyn y gêm yn erbyn Caerfyrddin ddydd Sadwrn. Mae’r neges yn gwbl nodweddiadol o John, a does dim syndod iddo fod ac yn dal i fod gymaint o arwr ar Y Traeth. Penderfynodd ddod â’i yrfa ddisglair, yng Nghynghrair Cymru, i ben ar ôl cynorthwyo’r clwb yn y fuddugoliaeth holl bwysig dros Y Rhyl yng ngêm olaf tymor 2007/08 a dychwelyd i’w hen glwb yn Nefyn a chymryd yr awenau fel chwaraewr reolwr. Mae’n siŵr byddai John yn barod inni rannu’r neges gyda holl gefnogwyr CPD Porthmadog. “I CPD Porthmadog Dim ond gair o ddiolch i bawb yn y clwb am yr amser da a gefais fel chwaraewr yn cynrychioli’r clwb am saith mlynedd. Mae’r clwb wedi datblygu cymaint yn yr amser yna oherwydd gwaith caled a brwdfrydedd y chwaraewyr, y pwyllgor, PHIL , Viv ac Osian â’r gwirfoddolwyr i gyd.Diolch John a phob lwc i Nefyn hefyd. A message of good wishes was received from John Gwynfor ahead of the league encounter at Carmarthen on Saturday. The message is typical of John, and it is little wonder that he was and still is such a hero at the Traeth. He called it a day on his WPL career after assisting Port in the all important victory over Rhyl on the last day of the 2007/08 season, returning to his former club Nefyn United as player-manager. John I’m sure would wish his message to be translated so that it can be shared with all Port supporters. “To Porthmadog FC A word of thanks to everyone at the club for the wonderful time I had representing the club for the last seven years. The club has developed so much during that period as a result of the hard work and enthusiasm of the players, the board, PHIL, Viv and Osian and all the volunteers. Thanks John and best of luck to Nefyn United also. 15/08/08 Cefnogwch Cymru Dan 21 / Support Wales Under 21 Bydd Cymru Dan 21 yn chwarae Romania ar y Cae Ras, Wrecsam nos Fercher nesaf, 20 Awst gyda’r gic gyntaf am 6 pm. Byddai buddugoliaeth i Gymru yn roi siawns dda iawn iddynt gyrraedd rowndiau terfynol cystadleuaeth Dan 21 UEFA. Pris mynediad fydd £5 i oedolion a £3 i bensiynwyr a phobl ifanc Dan 16. Wales take on Romania next Wednesday August 20th with a 6 pm kick off on the Racecourse Wrexham. A victory will give Wales a great chance of reaching the finals of the UEFA U 21 tournament. The entry fee is £5 for adults and £3 for senior citizens and under 16s. 13/08/08 Rhagolwg: v Caerfyrddin / Preview: v Carmarthen Town Bydd Porthmadog yn awyddus i gychwyn y tymor gyda gwell perfformiadau na welwyd ar ddechrau tymor 2007/08. Er ei bod wedi sicrhau gemau cyfartal ar y ddau ymweliad diwethaf â Parc Waundew, nid hon ydy’r gêm y byddent wedi’u ddewis i agor y tymor newydd. Mae tîm Caerfyrddin yn edrych mor gryf ag erioed gyda nifer dda o’r hen enwau fel Nathan Cotterall, Tim Hicks, Sacha Walters a Danny Thomas yn ymddangos unwaith eto. Er eu bod wedi colli Kris Thomas a Jamal Easter, dau chwaraewr amlwg iawn llynedd, maent wedi arwyddo dau chwaraewr profiadol iawn sef Damon Searle, gynt o Gaerdydd, a Stuart Roberts, gynt o glwb Abertawe, yn ogystal â chwaraewr ochr chwith talentog yn Lee Hudgell o Hwlffordd. Mae’n siwr y bydd Port yn hapus iawn â perfformiad fel yr un at ddiwedd y tymor diwethaf –heb y cerdyn coch i Rhys Roberts- gyda’r 10 chwaraewr a oedd yn weddill ar y cae yn amddiffyn yn wych o drefnus i ennill y pwynt holl bwysig yn y frwydr yn erbyn mynd i lawr. Y tro hwn, byddant heb Marcus Orlik sydd wedi anafu ac yn edrych at flaenwyr newydd fel Chris Jones a John Rowley ynghyd â’r cnewyllyn o chwaraewr o garfan y llynedd a fydd yn awyddus i brofi nad oedd y tymor diwethaf yn adlewyrchiad teg o’u dawn a’u gallu. Porthmadog will be looking to start their season with better performances than was the case in 2007/08. Though they have drawn on their last two visits to Richmond Park they would not have chosen this game to open their season under new manager Paul Whelan. The Carmarthen team looks as strong as ever with the usual names such as Nathan Cotterall, Tim Hicks, Sacha Walters and Danny Thomas featuring in their line-up. Though they have lost Kris Thomas and Jamal Easter who served them well last season, they have recruited two experienced players in former Cardiff City defender Damon Searle and former Swansea City forward Stuart Roberts as well as an excellent left sided player in Lee Hudgell from Haverfordwest. Port would no doubt be pleased with a repeat of last season’s performance –without the red card for Rhys Roberts- in the penultimate game when, thanks to a well organised defensive display by the 10 players remaining, they secured an all important point in the battle against relegation. This time without the injured Marcus Orlik, they will look to new forwards Chris Jones and John Rowley and to the nucleus of last season’s squad who will be eager to show that last season’s results were not a fair reflection of their talent and ability. 12/08/08 Marcus yn colli dechrau’r tymor / Marcus out for several weeks Newyddion drwg i Borthmadog gyda’r tymor newydd yn cychwyn ddydd Sadwrn gyda gêm anodd oddi cartref yng Nghaerfyrddin. Byddant heb Marcus Orlik, yr ymosodwr allweddol, sydd wedi torri asgwrn yn ei droed wrth chwarae yn y gêm gyfeillgar ar Y Traeth yn erbyn Llanrug yr wythnos ddiwethaf. Bydd yn debygol o fod allan am gyfnod o 6-8 wythnos. Y tymor diwethaf, sgoriodd Marcus naw gôl yn chwarae yng nghanol cae ac roedd disgwyl iddo chwarae rôl flaenllaw eleni gyda Carl Owen wedi symud i’r Rhyl. Dymunwn yn dda i Marcus gan obeithio ei weld yn ôl i ffitrwydd llawn yn fuan. It is bad news for Porthmadog as the new season opens on Saturday with a difficult away game at Carmarthen. They will be without key forward Marcus Orlik who has broken a bone in his foot, in last week’s home friendly against Llanrug, and is expected to be out for 6-8 weeks. Marcus, who scored 9 goals last season from midfield, was expected to play an even more crucial role this season with Carl Owen having transferred to Rhyl. Best of luck Marcus and we wish him well for a speedy return to full fitness. 12/08/08 Whelo yn ychwanegu at ei garfan / Whelo adds to his squad Cadarnhawyd bod Ben Ogilvey wedi symud o Fangor i Borthmadog. Mae’r chwaraewr ugain oed hefyd wedi chwarae i Aberystwyth yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Ymddangosodd i glwb y Traeth mewn nifer o gemau cyfeillgar gan gynnwys y buddugoliaethau dros Y Fflint a Rhuthun. Bydd ar gael ar gyfer gêm gyntaf y tymor yn erbyn Caerfyrddin ddydd Sadwrn. Mae Mike Foster, gwas ffyddlonaf y clwb, wedi arwyddo am dymor arall yn ogystal â dau chwaraewr lleol arall –y chwaraewr canol cae Iwan Thomas a’r ymosodwr Matthew Hughes. Cafodd Matthew dymor rhyfeddol o sgorio yn 2007/08 gan daro cefn y rhwyd 40 o weithiau yng Nghynghrair Gwynedd. The transfer of defender Ben Ogilvy from Bangor City to Porthmadog has now been confirmed. The 20 year old, who has also appeared for Aberystwyth in the WPL, has played several pre-season games for Port including in the victories over Flint and Ruthin. He will be available for Saturday’s opener at Carmarthen. The club’s greatest servant Mike Foster has signed on for yet another season together with two other local players who made their mark for the reserves last season – midfielder Iwan Thomas and striker Matthew Hughes. Matthew enjoyed a remarkable goal-scoring season in 2007/08 with an amazing 40 goals in the Gwynedd League. 08/08/08 Cyn chwaraewyr Port yn symud / Former Port Players on the move Deallwn fod David Hughes, yr asgellwr a ymunodd â Port yn ystod Ionawr 2008, wedi symud i Gaersws. Nid yw Hughes, a chwaraeodd 8 (+2) o weithiau ar ôl ymuno, wedi bod gyda’r garfan ers i Paul Whelan gymryd yr awenau. Un arall sydd yn symud ydy’r chwaraewr ochr chwith Richard Smart. Roedd sôn fod Smart, a chwaraeodd 13 (+14) gwaith i Port, yn ymuno â Bae Colwyn ond mae’n ymddangos bellach ei fod yn ail ymuno â chlwb Airbus sydd erbyn hyn yn cael eu reoli gan Chris Harrison. Chwaraewr arall sydd heb ymddangos dros Port y tymor hwn ydy Danny Hughes a chwaraeodd 22 o gemau y tymor diwethaf a wedi bod yn chwaraewr allweddol yng nghanol cae Port ers eu cyfnod yn y Cymru Alliance. Deallwn fod Danny wedi chwarae dros Bae Colwyn mewn gêmau cyn dymor ond nid yw’n glir eto os ydy o am arwyddo i’r clwb o gynghrair yr Unibond. Y newyddion am Layton Maxwell, chwaraewr a gafodd ei gysylltu â Port mewn camgymeriad, yw ei fod yn arwyddo nid i Port na Port Talbot ond i glwb Ento Aberaman sydd yn gobeithio ennill dyrchafiad o gynghrair de Cymru. David Hughes, a winger who joined Port during the January 2008 transfer window, from Airbus, has switched to Caersws. Hughes, who has not featured since Paul Whelan took over at the Traeth, made 8 (+2) appearances for Port. Another of last season’s squad also on the move is left sided player Richard Smart. Smart, who made 13 (+14) appearances last season, had been reported to be joining Colwyn Bay but it now appears that he will be returning to his former club Airbus now managed by Chris Harrison. Another player who has not figured for Port this season is Danny Hughes who played 22 games for Port last season and has been a keyman in midfield since our time in the Cymru Alliance. It appears that Danny has been playing pre-season games for Colwyn Bay but it is not clear whether he has yet signed for the Unibond League club. News of another player wrongly associated with Port –Layton Maxwell. It seems that in the end he did not sign for either Port or Port Talbot! He has signed for Welsh League promotion hopefuls Ento Aberaman. 04/08/08 Golwr yn arwyddo a ‘hen’ ffefryn / A goalie signs and an ‘old’ favourite Mae Paul Whelan wedi ychwanegu ail golwr i’w restr o chwaraewyr at 2008/09. Yn enedigol o Fangor, mae Dave Vickers yn 20 oed ac ymunodd â Llangefni o Bwcle yn ystod ffenestr drosglwyddo 2008 pan oedd Alex Kevan yn rheolwr ar Gae Bob Parry. Ymysg ei glybiau eraill mae’r Rhyl, Caergybi a Llandudno a bu hefyd gyda Man U fel chwaraewr ifanc. Er nad yw y talaf, mae’n hogyn cryf ac yn ystwyth a heini iawn. Un o’i gryfderau ydy ei allu i gyfathrebu gyda’i amddiffynwyr. Chwaraeodd ei gêm gyfan gyntaf dros Port yn erbyn Rhuthun ddydd Sadwrn. Hefyd wedi arwyddo ar gyfer 2008/09 mae Richard Hughes a ddychwelodd i’r clwb yn ystod ffenestr drosglwyddo 2008 yn dilyn cyfnod byr yn Llangefni. Bu Richard bob amser yn ffefryn ar y Traeth o ganlyniad i’w chwarae brwdfrydig cant y cant a bydd ei gôl yn erbyn Rhyl fyw yn y cof am lawer blwyddyn. Paul Whelan has added a second goalkeeper to his list of signed players for 2008/09. He is Bangor born 20 year old Dave Vickers who was brought to Llangefni by Alex Kevan from Buckley Town in the January 2008, transfer window. His other previous clubs include Rhyl, Holyhead and Llandudno and he was also on youth forms at Manchester United. Though maybe lacking in inches, he is a well built and very agile keeper. One of his strengths is his ability to communicate with his defenders. He played his first full game for Port on Saturday against Ruthin Town. Also signed for 2008/09 is Richard Hughes who returned to the club during the January 2008 transfer window following a brief spell at Llangefni. Richard has always been a favourite at the Traeth for his 100% commitment and his winning goal against Rhyl will live in the memory for a long time. 04/08/08 Crys newydd ar gael yn fuan / New shirt available soon Disgwylir i grys newydd Porthmadog, ar gyfer y tymor newydd 2008/09, fod ar gael yn fuan iawn. Dywedodd Nigel Shingler, sydd yn rheoli siop y clwb, “ Rwy’n obeithiol iawn bydd y crys yn y siop erbyn y gêm gynghrair gyntaf ar Y Traeth ar 23 Awst yn erbyn Bangor.” Bydd hefyd yn bosib archebu’r crys o siop ar-lein y clwb ar y wefan hon. It is expected that the new Porthmadog shirt for 2008/09 will be available in the club shop very shortly. Nigel Shingler, who runs the club shop, says, “I anticipate the shirt being in the shop and for sale in time for the first home league game against Bangor City on 23 August.” It will also be possible to order the new shirt from the on-line shop on this website. 01/08/08 Y 'BEATLES' am helpu Port i godi pres / The BEATLES to fund-raise for Port Cyhoeddwyd bod un o fandiau 'teyrnged' gorau Prydain am ymddangos mewn cyngerdd ar y Traeth, Porthmadog ar nos Sadwrn 30 Awst mewn ymdrech i godi pres at goffrau CPD Porthmadog. 'BEATLES FOR SALE' fydd yn cynnal y noson mewn pabell ar y Traeth. Yn ôl y trefnydd, Dafydd Wyn Jones, "Mae'r band yn anhygoel o debyg i'r gwreiddiol mewn golwg a sain. Dim ond mater o gau'r llygaid yw a buasai rhywun yn meddwl ei fod yn y Cavern yn Lerpwl yn y chwedegau cynnar - ac mae rhaid cael golwg da a chraff i ddweud y gwahaniaeth rhwng y pedwar cyfoes a'r gwreiddiol! Fel clwb 'rydym wedi ceisio arloesi yn aml a bellach, gyda'r clwb cymdeithasol newydd, gallwn gynnig ystod eang o adloniant ar gyfer pob oed. Yn anffodus bydd ein clwb yn rhy fach i gynnal y noson hon gan y disgwylir i ni werthu oddeutu 400 o docynnau, sydd ar gael mewn siopau lleol am £10 yn awr neu trwy archebu dros y ffon ar 07810057444." Cyfnod o seibiant i'r rhan fwyaf o glybiau a'u gweithwyr yw'r haf ond nid felly ym Mhorthmadog! Mae'r clwb yn rhedeg gwasanaeth hurio pebyll a bariau symudol, sydd yn brysur ofnadwy dros gyfnod yr haf. "Ym mha glwb yng Nghymru y gwelwch y cyfarwyddwyr wrthi yn codi pebyll a thynnu peintiau yn ogystal â cheisio rhedeg clwb ar y lefel uchaf" medd Dafydd Wyn Jones. Gwybodaeth bellach - Dafydd Wyn Jones 07810057444 One of the best 'tribute' bands in Britain will be helping Porthmadog Football Club raise much needed funds when they appear at the Traeth, Porthmadog on Saturday, 30th August. 'BEATLES FOR SALE' will appear at a marquee sited on the Traeth. According to the organiser Dafydd Wyn Jones," There is an uncanny likeness to the original in both sound and look. Close your eyes and you could be transported to the early 60's days of the Cavern in Liverpool, open them and you will have to have very sharp eyesight to tell the difference from the 'real thing'. As a club we have tried to present the local public with a range of innovative entertainment, especially since opening our social club nearly a year ago. Unfortunately the clubhouse will be too small for this event as we expect to sell about 400 tickets priced at £10 each which are now available from local shops or by telephoning 07810057444." The close summer season is one of a well earned rest for most clubs, their officials and directors but this is not the case at Porthmadog! The club runs a very busy marquee and bar hire service which is very much in demand, especially over the summer months. "Where in Wales, or even beyond, can you see the directors of football clubs erecting marquees and pulling pints as well as trying to run a professional outfit at the highest level?" adds Dafydd Wyn Jones.
