26/11/09 Rhagolwg: Airbus Brychdyn / Preview : Airbus Broughton Yn dilyn dwy fuddugoliaeth, lle cafwyd perfformiadau o safon uchel yn erbyn y timau yn y pumed a’r nawfed safle yn y tabl mae’r sylw yn troi at Airbus sydd yn yr 8fed safle. Bydd Port yn cychwyn y gêm hon mewn dipyn gwell ysbryd na fyddent wedi gwneud 3 wythnos yn ôl. Yn erbyn Airbus y tymor diwethaf sgoriodd Marc Lloyd Williams pump o chwe gôl Port dros y ddwy gêm. Ac yn ychwanegu sbeis i’r gêm fydd presenoldeb Carl Owen a Rhys Roberts dau gyn chwaraewr arall. Roedd Airbus mewn sefyllfa ffodus dros yr haf, yn gallu gwario i gryfhau’r tîm ac mae’r rheolwr Chris Harrison wedi gwario’n ddoeth. Dim ond un o’u chwe gêm ddiwethaf sydd wedi eu cholli. Nid yw’n sioc mai M Ll W sydd ar ben eu rhestr sgorio gyda 10 gôl, a meddai Tomi wrth yr Herald, “Byddem yn ei dderbyn yn ôl ’fory, mae’n sgoriwr heb ei ail ac mae’n anodd dod o hyd i’r math yma o chwaraewr mewn unrhyw gynghrair, ac rwy’n siwr fydd o’n awyddus i ddychwelyd a chanfod y rhwyd ond ein gwaith ni fydd ei gadw mewn trefn.” Newyddion drwg i Port yw fod Jiws heb sgorio a heb fod yn ei hwyliau gorau wythnos ddiwethaf – dydi'r sefyllfa honno ddim yn para'n hir fel arfer! Y newyddion da ydy fod Paul Roberts yn canfod y rhwyd unwaith eto ac wedi sgorio dwy gôl wych yng Nghaerfyrddin. Mae’r newyddion anafiadau yn gwella gyda Mike Thompson wedi chwarae am 20 munud ddydd Sadwrn a Mike Foster hefyd yn ymarfer. Ond fydd Ceri James yn methu’r gêm oherwydd gwaharddiad. Ewch i i roi bet ar Porthmadog v Airbus. Following successive victories resulting from quality performances against the 5th and 9th placed clubs attention now turns to 8th placed Airbus. Port enter this game in far better spirits than would have been the case three weeks ago. In last season’s encounters with Airbus, Marc Lloyd Williams scored five of the six goals which Port scored in the two games. Added spice is also given by the return to the Traeth of two other former Port players Carl Owen and Rhys Roberts. Airbus were in the fortunate position of being able to invest over the summer and manager Chris Harrison has invested well. Recent form has been good with only one defeat in the last six games. Inevitably Marc Lloyd Williams is their leading scorer with 10 league goals and Tomi talking to the Herald said, "We would have him back here tomorrow, he’s a prolific goalscorer, and they are hard to come by in any league, and I’m sure he’ll be looking to come back here with a bang and score a few, but it’s up to us to try and keep him at bay.” The bad news for Port is that Jiws was off target last week -now that is a situation that won’t last for long! The good news is that Paul Roberts ended his goal drought with a couple of crackers at Carmarthen. On the availability front Mike Thompson played for 20 minutes last Saturday and Mike Foster is returning to fitness, but Ceri James will miss out through suspension. Visit to place a bet on Porthmadog v Airbus. 25/11/09 Cerrig milltir i ddau / Appearance milestones for two Bydd dau o chwaraewyr Port yn cyrraedd cerrig milltir yn eu gyrfa ddydd Sadwrn yn erbyn Airbus. Bydd y golwr Richard Morgan yn dechrau gêm 150 (+3) yn UGC. Mae wedi chwarae ym mhob gêm gynghrair a chwpan i Port y tymor hwn. Cynt chwaraeodd yn UGC dros Aberystwyth, Rhaeadr, Caerfyrddin a Llanelli. Hefyd bydd Paul Roberts yn cychwyn gêm rhif 50 yng nghrys Port –ffaith a wnaiff synnu llawer. Ond cyn iddo adael Port am Wrecsam yn 1996 dim ond 12 gêm oedd wedi cychwyn i’r clwb ond wedi sgorio 11 o goliau! Daeth y ddwy gôl a sgoriodd yn erbyn Caerfyrddin ddydd Sadwrn a chyfanswm ei goliau yn UGC i 139 ar ôl chwarae 266 (+59) o gemau. Two Port players are set to pass appearance landmarks when they face Airbus UK in Saturday’s league encounter. Goalkeeper Richard Morgan will make his 150th (+3) WPL appearance. He has appeared in all league and cup games for Port this season and previously appeared for Aberystwyth, Rhayader, Carmarthen and Llanelli in the WPL. Paul Roberts will make his 50th start in a Port shirt a fact that may surprise many. When he left Port for Wrexham in 1996 he had only started in 12 games but had scored 11 goals! The 2 goals he scored at Carmarthen on Saturday bring his WPL career record to 139 goals in 266 (+59) games. 24/11/09 Marwolaeth sydyn George McGowan / Sudden death of George McGowan Daeth y newyddion am farwolaeth sydyn hyfforddwr ieuenctid Wrecsam, George McGowan, yn sioc i ddilynwyr pêl-droed yng Ngogledd Cymru. Bydd y cefnogwyr hynny sydd a chof byw o dîm llwyddiannus yr1970au yn cofio fod George McGowan, cyn chwaraewr Motherwell, Preston, Caer a Stockport, hefyd wedi bod yn aelod o’r tîm llwyddiannus hwnnw. Dywedodd Roly Evans, cyd chwaraewr i George McGowan yn Port, wrth y wefan, “Arwyddodd George i Port yn 1978 a chwaraeodd i’r clwb am rhyw ddeunaw mis. Cafodd ei arwyddo o’r Rhyl gan rheolwr Port, sef Sid Jones o Wrecsam. Roedd dod a George i fewn yn hwb mawr i weddill y tîm. Roedd yn gymeriad mawr gyda phawb oedd yn ei adnabod â meddwl y byd ohono. Mae wedi gweithio wrth ymyl Joey Jones yn hyfforddwr ieuenctid yn Wrecsam cyn iddo gael ei gymryd yn sâl." Mae colli George wedi dwyn atgofion hapus i Roly o gyfnod arbennig yn hanes clwb Port o dan rheolaeth Sid Jones. “ Roedd Sid yn rheoli Port rhwng 1976-1979 gan fynd a ni i 10 rownd derfynol ac ennill 7 ohonynt. Hefyd roeddem yn ail yn y gynghrair ddwywaith yng nghyfnod Sid Jones.” Bydd yn dda gan y cefnogwyr hynny sydd yn dal i drafod tîm y 70au wybod y bydd Roly a Sid yn bresennol yng nghynhebrwng George McGowan nid yn unig fel cyfeillion a chyd chwaraewyr ond hefyd fel cynrychiolwyr clwb Porthmadog. Football in North Wales was shocked to learn of the sudden death, on Friday (20 November), of Wrexham youth team coach George McGowan. Supporters who vividly recall Port’s successful 1970’s team will also recall that George McGowan former Motherwell, Preston, Chester and Stockport County was for a period a member of that team. Roly Evans, a teammate of his during that time, told the website, “George was signed for Porthmadog in the 1978 season and played for 18 months. He was signed from Rhyl by the then Wrexham based manager of Porth, Sid Jones. Bringing George into the side then was a great boost to us. He was a great character and loved by all who knew him. He has worked alongside Joey Jones as reserve/youth coach at Wrexham lately, before he became ill.” The passing of George McGowan brings back fond memories for Roly of that glorious period in Port’s history whilst managed by his friend Sid Jones, “Sid managed Porth from 1976-1979,taking us to 10 cup finals and winning 7 of them. We were league runners up twice in Sid's reign.” Those supporters who still love to discuss the 1970’s Port team will be pleased to know that both Roly and Sid will be attending George McGowan’s funeral not only as team mates and friends but will also be representing Porthmadog FC. 23/11/09 Y rheswm dros welliant Port / The reason for Port’s better form Ydych chi wedi meddwl sut mae Port wedi gwneud yn well dros y ddwy gêm ddiwethaf? Mae’r cyfan lawr i gefnogaeth gan neb llai na Sali Mali – cymeriad sy’n enwog i blant o Bort i Beirut! Ers i Sali ddangos ei chefnogaeth i Port cyn gêm Prestatyn, fel rhan o ymgyrch S4C i dynnu sylw at y newid i deledu digidol, mae Port wedi treblu eu cyfanswm pwyntiau a dros ddyblu’r goliau sydd wedi’u sgorio! Have you wondered why Port have done so much better over the last two matches? It’s all down to the support of none other than Sali Mali – a character loved by children from Port to Beirut! Since Sali proclaimed her support to Port before the Prestatyn match, as part of S4C’s campaign to draw attention to the digital switchover, Port have trebled their points tally and more than doubling the goals scored! 19/11/09 Rhagolwg: v Caerfyrddin / Preview: v Carmarthen Ar ôl ymweld â’r Trallwng ar gyfer y gêm oddi cartref ddiwethaf bydd Tomi Morgan yn ymweld a Chaerfyrddin, un arall o’i gyn glybiau, ddydd Sadwrn. Cafodd Tomi gryn lwyddiant yng Nghaerfyrddin. Yn 2001 cafodd y clwb eu tymor mwyaf llwyddiannus yn UGC yn gorffen yn 3ydd –eu safle gorau hyd yma- gan gystadlu yn yr Inter Toto a hefyd cyrraedd ffeinal cwpan Cymru. Ar ôl cychwyn gwael i’r tymor mae Caerfyrddin wedi cryfhau ac ond yn colli unwaith allan o’r chwe gem olaf ac wedi codi i’r 9fed safle. Gellir disgwyl gêm anodd bob amser ar y Waundew ond yn ddiweddar gemau agos iawn sydd wedi bod rhwng y ddau glwb. Llynedd Caerfyrddin aeth a hi o 1-0, tra y tymor blaenorol sicrhaodd Port bwynt gwerthfawr gyda 10-dyn wrth frwydro i gadw eu lle yn UGC. Yn 2006/07 gwnaeth y ddau gyfarfod ddwy waith 1-1 oedd hi yn y gynghrair ac yr un oedd y sgôr yn y Gwpan ar ôl amser ychwanegol -cyn i Gaerfyrddin ennill ar giciau o’r smotyn. Mae’r rhestr o enwau profiadol fel Dodds, Hicks, Danny Thomas, Fowler a Cotterall yn dangos mai brwydr anodd sydd yn ein disgwyl. Meddai Tomi wrth yr Herald, “Bydd yn gêm anodd yng Nghaerfyrddin yn erbyn tîm sydd ar rhediad da, ond gyda’r hyder yn dod o’r fuddugoliaeth ddydd Sadwrn gobeithio y gallwn ni ddechrau rhediad ein hunain.” Ynglyn ac anafiadau ychwanegodd Tomi, “Roedd Foster yn ymarfer neithiwr (nos Fawrth) felly mae yna obaith iddo fod yn barod ond mae ffêr Ceri wedi chwyddo’n ddrwg, felly bydd rhaid asesu ei obeithion yn ddiweddarach yn yr wythnos.” Ewch i i roi bet ar Caerfyrddin v Porthmadog. Having visited former club Welshpool for the last away game, this Saturday Tomi Morgan takes Porthmadog to another of his former clubs, Carmarthen. Tomi enjoyed considerable success at Carmarthen leading them to their most successful WPL season in 2001 finishing 3rd –their highest ever finish- and qualifying for the Inter Toto Cup. They also reached the final of the Welsh Cup in that season. Carmarthen after a poor start to the season have now recovered, losing only one of their last 6 games, and are in 9th place in the table. Richmond Park is never an easy place to visit but recent fixtures there have proved to be tight affairs. Last season Carmarthen ran out winners by the only goal of the game while in the previous clash 10-man Port held on for a vital goaless draw to gain a point in their relegation battle. In 2006/07 they met twice at Richmond Park a 1-1 draw in the league and in the Welsh Cup another 1-1 draw (after extra-time) which Carmarthen won on penalties. A run through the familiar names like Dodds, Hicks, Danny Thomas, Fowler and Cotterall tell us that it will be another tough fight. Tomi talking to the Herald said "It will be a very difficult game as Carmarthen are a strong side on a good run of form, but with the confidence gained from Saturday’s win we can hopefully go on a bit of a run ourselves." On the injury front Tomi added, "Foster trained last night (Tuesday) so we’re hopeful he might be ready, but Ceri’s ankle is badly swollen, so we’ll assess his chances of being available later in the week." Visit to place a bet on Carmarthen v Porthmadog. 18/11/09 Gig Yucatan a John Lawrence nos Sadwrn / Yucatan and John Lawrence gig on Saturday night Bydd y band lleol Yucatan a chyn-aelod Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, John Lawrence, yn ymddangos yng Nghlwb y Traeth nos Sadwrn yma (21.11.09). Mae Lawrence newydd ryddhau albwm newydd o’r enw ‘Rainy Night’, ac mae Yucatan yn paratoi i ryddhau eu EP newydd hirddisgwyliedig ‘Enlli’ ddiwedd y mis. Trefnwyr y gig yw criw Gwyl Porthmadog a’r pris mynediad fydd £5 gyda’r drysau’n agor am 8pm. Local band Yucatan and ex-Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci member, John Lawrence, will be appearing at the Traeth Clubhouse this Saturday evening (21.11.09). Lawrence recently released his new album ‘Rainy Night’, and Yucatan are preparing to release their long-awaited EP ‘Enlli’ before the end of the month. The gig is organised by Gwyl Porthmadog and the entry price is £5 with doors opening at 8pm. 17/11/09 Gem Caerfyrddin yn cychwyn am 2 o’r gloch / 2 pm kick-off for Carmarthen game Atgoffir y cefnogwyr sy’n bwriadu teithio i Gaerfyrddin ddydd Sadwrn(21 Tachwedd) fod yna newid i amser cychwyn y gêm. Gan fod Sgorio yn cychwyn yn gynnar ddydd Sadwrn bydd y gem ar y Waundew, Caerfyrddin yn cychwyn am 2 o’r gloch. Supporters travelling to Carmarthen on Saturday (21 November) are reminded of the change in kick off time. In order to accommodate an early transmission time of the Sgorio programme, the kick off at Richmond Park, Carmarthen on Saturday will be at 2pm. 14/11/09 Gêm Prestatyn ymlaen / Prestatyn game on Er gwaethaf y tywydd drwg, cadarnhaodd archwiliad o'r Traeth bore 'ma y gall gêm y prhynhawn yn erbyn Prestatyn fynd yn ei blaen. Gyda'r gemau yn Cefn a Chaerfyrddin yn barod wedi eu gohirio, ynghyd â holl gemau neithiwr, mae'n debyg mai'r gêm ar y Traeth fydd un o'r chydig i osgoi effeithiau'r tywydd. Despite the bad weather, this morning's inspection confirmed that the Traeth pitch is playable for this afternoon's match against Prestatyn. With the games at Cefn and Carmarthen already off, along with all last night's games, it seems that the clash on the Traeth will be one of just a handfull to be spared. 14/11/09 Archwiliad o'r cae am 10:00 / Pitch inspection at 10:00 Yn dilyn y glaw trwm dros y dyddiau diwethaf, bydd archwiliad o'r Traeth yn cael ei wneud am 10:00 bore 'ma er mwyn penderfynu os fydd gêm Prestatyn yn gallu cael ei chwarae. Bydd y newyddion diweddaraf yn ymddangos yma. Following the recent heavy rain, an inspection of the Traeth pitch will take place at 10:00 this morning to decide if the Prestatyn game can go ahead. Any news will appear here as soon as we get it. 11/11/09 Rhagolwg: v Prestatyn / Preview: v Prestatyn Gyda’r rhediad trychinebus yn y gynghrair yn parhau yn y Trallwng Sadwrn diwethaf, unwaith eto bydd Tomi Morgan yn gobeithio mai rŵan yw’r amser y bydd lwc yn mynd o’n plaid! Fydd hi ddim yn hawdd dydd Sadwrn yn erbyn Prestatyn sy’n 5ed yn y gynghrair ac wedi sgorio 22 gôl hyd yn hyn y tymor hwn. Bydd rhaid i amddiffynwyr Port fod ar eu gorau i rwystro’r profiadol Andy Moran rhag sgorio – mae’n barod wedi sgorio 6 sydd ddwywaith yn fwy na chyfanswm tîm Porthmadog! Mae Tomi’n parhau’n bositif er y canlyniadau gwael: “Mae’r tymor yn bell o fod ar ben” meddai. Gall Port gymryd cysur yn y ffaith fod Prestatyn wedi simsanu’n ddiweddar ar ôl dechrau mor dda i’r tymor: dim ond un buddugoliaeth maent wedi ei gael yn y 5 gêm gynghrair ddiwethaf. Ewch i i roi bet ar Porthmadog v Prestatyn. With the disastrous run of form in the league continuing at Welshpool last Saturday, Tomi Morgan will once again be hoping that now is the time that our luck changes! It won’t be easy on Saturday against Perstatyn who are 5th in the league and who have scored 22 goals so far this season. Port’s defenders will need to be at their best to stop the experienced Andy Moran from scoring – he has already bagged 6 goals, which is double Porthmadog’s team total! Despite the poor results Tomi remains positive, claiming that “this season is far from over”. Port can take some solace in the fact that Prestatyn have faltered recently following their great start to the season: the have only secured one victory in their last 5 league games. Visit to place a bet on Porthmadog v Prestatyn. 07/11/09 Gêm Prestatyn yn dal ar y Sadwrn / Prestatyn game to go ahead on Saturday Er mwyn osgoi chwarae yr un pryd â’r gêm rhyngwladol rhwng Cymru a’r Alban gwnaeth swyddogion Porthmadog gais i glwb Brestatyn ynglyn â newid y gêm i’r Sul ond yn anffodus nid oedd Prestatyn yn medru cytuno i’r newid. Ar benwythnos rhyngwladol yn y gorffennol, pan nad oes cystadleuaeth wrth gemau ar Sky, cafwyd cefnogaeth dda ar bnawn Sul. In order to avoid a clash with the Wales v Scotland international, Porthmadog officials had approached Prestatyn with a view to switching the game to the Sunday but Prestatyn were unable to agree to the change. On international weekends in the past, Sunday matches have been well attended as there is no clash with Premier League games on Sky. 06/11/09 Hydref yr Ail Dîm / Reserves October Round-up Mae’r ail dîm, sy’n cynnwys nifer fawr o dîm academi llwyddiannus Dan-16 llynedd, yn cael y cam i fyny i bêl-droed Cynghrair Gwynedd yn un reit anodd. Ar ôl awr daeth Cai Jones a’r sgôr yn gyfartal, dim ond i’r Gaerwen fynd yn ôl ar y blaen. Ond Mark Bridge gafodd y gair olaf gyda gôl ar ôl 86 munud i unioni’r sgôr 3-3. Roedd yna siom yn Ail Rownd Cwpan Gwynedd gyda Port yn colli o 2-1 yn Bontnewydd, tîm a gurwyd yn hawdd ynghynt yn y tymor. Mark Bridge sgoriodd i Port. Y myfyrwyr o Fangor oedd yr ymwelwyr â’r Traeth am y gêm nesaf. Cafodd y myfyrwyr eu buddugoliaeth gynghrair gyntaf o 4-2 gyda Danny Rylance a Mark Bridge yn sgorio i Port. Y Cwpan Canolradd yn erbyn Penmaenmawr oedd gêm olaf y mis. Pan sgoriodd Ezra Warren ar ôl 74 munud daeth a’r sgôr yn ôl i 2-1 ond wedyn sgoriodd y tîm o Gynghrair Clwyd deirgwaith yn y 15 munud olaf i wneud y sgôr yn 5-1 i Benmaenmawr. The young reserve team, who are largely made up of the successful U-16 Academy team of last season, are understandably finding it a testing step up to senior football. They started October with a visit to Gaerwen, one of four Anglesey clubs currently placed in the top five in the Gwynedd League. They gained a creditable draw with Steven Jones putting them in front after only 7 minutes but two goals from Gaerwen in 3 minutes put the Anglesey club ahead at the interval. Cai Jones levelled things on the hour mark only for Gaerwen to go into the lead again at 3-2. A Mark Bridge goal 4 minutes from time made sure of the point for Port. There was disappointment in Round 2 of the Gwynedd Cup with Port losing out by 2-1 at Bontnewydd, a team the Reserves had beaten comfortably in the league. Mark Bridge scored Port’s goal. Next up were the students from Bangor who notched their first league by 4-2 at the Traeth, with Danny Rylance and Mark Bridge scoring the Port goals. The last game of the month was the Intermediate Cup clash with Clwyd League leaders Penmaenmawr Phoenix. Ezra Warren cut the Phoenix two goal half time lead after 74 minutes, only for the Phoenix to score 3 more in the last 15 minutes and run out winners by 5-1. 05/11/09 Rhagolwg: v Y Trallwng / Preview: v Welshpool Bydd Tomi Morgan a Huw Griffiths wedi targedu’r tri phwynt mewn gem rhwng dau o’r perfformwyr gwanaf, hyd yma, yn UGC. Gyda Port yn dal i chwilio am eu buddugoliaeth gynghrair gyntaf a’r Trallwng ond wedi ennill unwaith diolch i’w perfformiad gorau o’r tymor yn Airbus. Hawdd deall felly pam fod yn ddau yn gweld cyfle am fuddugoliaeth ddydd Sadwrn. Yn erbyn y tri tîm uchaf yn y tabl daeth 3 o’r 6 colled mae Port wedi dioddef y tymor hwn. Ac yn erbyn y tri yma daeth 12 o’r 18 o goliau a rhwydwyd yn eu herbyn. Yn y gemau eraill mae Port wedi amddiffyn yn eithaf derbyniol. Ond bydd yn rhaid iddynt wneud y tro yn y Trallwng heb y cefnwr profiadol Mike Foster . Sgorio ydy’r broblem fawr, dim ond tair gôl gynghrair i Port tra fod y Trallwng wedi rhwydo 7 gwaith. Carl Lamb â dwy gôl gynghrair ydy prif sgoriwr clwb Maesydre tra fod y dair i Port wedi cael ei sgorio gan dri chwaraewr gwahanol. Does gan yr un o’r ddau glwb felly flaenwr sydd ar y funud yn tanio yn rheolaidd. Sgoriodd Paul Roberts a Marc Evans yn y Gwpan ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf a gobeithio fod hyn yn arwyddo pethau gwell. Y tro diwethaf i Tomi ddychwelyd i Maesydre cafwyd cychwyn da i’r gêm ond gorffen yn siomedig gwnaeth pethau a cholli o 3-2. Ar yr ymweliad blaenorol cafwyd buddugoliaeth dda a dwy gôl gan Paul Roberts i Port. Arwydd da gobeithio! Ewch i i roi bet ar Trallwng v Porthmadog. Both Tomi Morgan and Huw Griffiths will have targeted this game between two of the WPL’s strugglers as a potential three points. Port are still looking for their first league win and Welshpool have only managed one victory and that thanks to what was their best performance of the season at Airbus. It is easy to understand therefore why both sides see the opportunity for a win on Saturday. Three of Port’s 6 losses have come against the current top three in the table while Welshpool have yet to meet these teams. It is against these three top sides that 12 of the 18 goals against were conceded. In other games Port have defended well enough. But they will be without the experienced Mike Foster on Saturday. The real problem has been scoring, with only 3 league goals, while Welshpool have managed 7. Carl Lamb, who has scored twice, has most in the league for Welshpool. Port’s 3 have come from three different players which goes to show that neither side, currently, has a striker who threatens to score regularly. Paul Roberts and Marc Evans both scored in the Cup last Saturday so let’s hope that they can continue to find the net. The last time Tomi returned to Maesydre with Port it all started well but ended in a disappointing 3-2 defeat. The previous season Port won well and Paul Roberts scored twice, let’s hope that is an omen for Saturday afternoon! Visit to place a bet on Welshpool v Porthmadog. 04/11/09 Chwilio am Noddwyr / Search for more sponsorship Mae CPD Porthmadog yn chwilio am fwy o noddwyr. Bu cwmni Allports yn noddi’r clwb ers sawl blwyddyn ac mae’r trefniant yna yn parhau. Byddai’r bwrdd â diddordeb mewn clywed gan gwmnïau sydd yn gweld cysylltiad gyda chlwb, sydd yn sefydliad yn ardal, yn un gwerth chweil. They have been generously sponsored by Allports Fish and Chips for several seasons and that arrangement continues. During last season, and also continuing in 2009/10, they have also been sponsored by Porthmadog Demolition who are the company named of first team shirts. The club, celebrating its 125th anniversary season, are looking to team up with other local companies and also national companies, with a presence in the area, who would wish to support the further development of an ambitious club. Equally the board would like to hear from individuals who are able to introduce potential companies interested in sponsoring a local club with a continuing ambition to play at the highest level of Welsh domestic football. The club is able to offer very generous terms to these individuals should they bring a sponsorship deal to fruition. If you are able to assist or would like further information please contact the club chairman Phil Jones on 0 7816 213188 03/11/09 Cefnogaeth yn y wasg a’r cyfryngau i Tomi / Support for Tomi’s views in the media. Cafodd Tomi Morgan gefnogaeth i’w sylwadau ynglyn ag adrefnu UGC a hefyd newidiadau i’r rheolau trosglwyddo. Dywedodd David Jones yn y Daily Post: “Rwy’n rhannu barn Morgan y bydd clwb Porthmadog yn bodoli am amser maith i ddod ond nid oes sicrwydd y bydd nifer o’r clybiau sy’n cyrraedd y 12 Disglair yn aros yna, gyda’r gofynion llym sy’n ofynnol arnynt a’r potensial i ddifetha rhai clybiau.” (Ac mae’n debyg fod y gofynion wedi tyfu yn eu cost yn dilyn y cyfarfod yn y Drenewydd dros y Sul! gol.) Ai hyn oedd ym meddwl y pwyllgor doeth wrth iddynt fynd ati i newid y rheolau? Mae llawer i chwaraewr wedi cael ei alw o flaen ei well am ddod ac anfri ar y gêm ... . Ond yn sgil y penderfyniad yma ynglyn ag arwyddo chwaraewyr, onid yw hi'n amser i aelodau'r pwyllgor a greodd y rheolau newydd, hefyd ymateb i gyhuddiad tebyg oherwydd y llanastr maent wedi ei greu yn yr Uwch Gynghrair eleni?” There has been backing in media for Tomi Morgan’s comments regarding WPL reorganisation and the Transfer rules debacle. David Jones commenting in the Daily Post on reorganisation says: “I share Morgan's belief that Porthmadog will be around for a long time to come, but there is no guarantee that even those who make the Super 12 will remain there, with the tough criteria demanded having the potential to cripple some clubs.” (It appears that the bar has been raised even higher at last Sunday’s meeting in Newtown ed.) Backing also comes from Glyn Griffiths (former Bangor and Holywell manager) who discusses changes to transfer rules in his Welsh language Blog on the 'Ar y Marc' page on BBC Arlein under the title ‘Making a Mess-up.’ He asks, “Is it possible that a game in the WPL will be postponed because one or other of the teams are unable to put 11 players on the pitch? Is this what the committee had in mind when they changed the rules? Many players have been called to account for bringing the game into disrepute … . But in view of this decision ….. is it not time for members of this committee who created the new rules to answer the same accusation for the mess they have created in the WPL this season.” 03/11/09 Diolch i Noddwyr Cit yr Academi / Thanks to Academy kit sponsors Mae’r cit wedi cyrraedd ar gyfer y carfanau Dan12, Dan 14 a Dan 16. Noddwyd un o’r citiau gan Idris Contract Flooring o Ddolgellau ac un arall gan Parc Gwyliau Greenacres, Morfa Bychan. Mae’r Academi yn ddiolchgar iawn i’r noddwyr yma ac yn bwriadu trefnu lluniau er mwyn rhoi cyhoeddusrwydd i’r haelioni. Yn amlwg yn hapus gyda’r gefnogaeth dywedodd Eddie Blackburn, Gweinyddwr yr Academi, “Byddai’n dda cael noddwr i’r cit arall hefyd ac i’r cit ymarfer, a cit gemau oddi cartref sydd eu angen er mwyn creu argraff dda a dangos yr Academi yn y golau gorau posib, er mwyn inni allu ddal ati i fod yn ffynhonnell o chwaraewyr i CPD Porthmadog yn y dyfodol.” The new playing kits have arrived for the U12, U14 and U16 squads. One of the kits has been sponsored by Idris Contract Flooring of Dolgellau and another by Greenacres Holiday Park in Morfa Bychan. We are very grateful to these sponsors and hope to arrange a photo shoot soon to publicise their generous support. Pleased by this excellent show of support academy administrator, Eddie Blackburn, added, “We would welcome, of course, a sponsor for the third kit and for training tops and away strips which are all needed to promote the Academy in the best light possible, so that we may continue and become a good source of players for Porthmadog FC in future years.” 02/11/09 Newyddion y Tote Misol a'r Lotri Wythnosol / Monthly Tote and Weekly Draw News Tynnwyd Tote Mis Hydref nos Wener diwethaf ac, am y trydydd tro’n olynol ni ddewisodd unrhyw un y rhifau a dynnwyd – sef 27 a 39. Cysylltodd swyddogion Porthmadog gyda’r gynghrair cyn adrefnu’r gêm ond ar y pryd ni wnaed unrhyw gyfeiriad at y bwriad i gynnal rownd cynderfynol Cwpan y Gynghrair ar y dyddiad hwnnw. Nid oes dyddiad newydd wedi’i drefnu hyd yma. The postponed TNS game scheduled for 10 November is now subject to further change as the Oswestry club will be playing the first leg of their League Cup semi-final on that date and the second leg the following week. Porthmadog officials had asked the League for guidance before rearranging the fixture but no mention was made at the time that these dates had already been pencilled in for the League Cup Semis. No new date has so far been confirmed. 31/10/09 Port oddi cartref yn Rownd 4 / Port drawn away in 4th Round Bydd Porthmadog oddi cartref yn Rownd 4 o Gwpan Cymru yn chwarae Prestatyn y clwb sydd ar hyn o bryd y 4ydd yn UGC. Bydd y gemau yn yr 16 olaf yn cael eu chwarae ar 30 Ionawr. Ymysg y gemau eraill bydd Cyffordd Llandudno adref i TNS, Bala yn croesawu Caersws a’r deiliaid Bangor adref yn erbyn Aberaman. Porthmadog will meet Prestatyn, currently in 4th place in WPL, in the Welsh Cup 4th round. The game will be played at Prestatyn’s Bastion Road Ground on 30 January 2010. Amongst the other games Llandudno Junction entertain TNS, Bala are home to Caersws and the cup holders Bangor at home to Aberaman. 30/10/09 Gemau Academi dros y penwythnos / Academy weekend fixtures Bydd pob grwp oed yn chwarae dros y penwythnos. Yfory, Sadwrn 31 Hydref, bydd tymor y timau Dan-11 yn cychwyn o’r diwedd gyda gêm oddi cartref yn y Wyddgrug yn erbyn Ysgolion Sir Fflint. Bydd timau Academi Dan-12, Dan 14 a Dan-16 yn teithio i Cefn i chwarae’r Derwyddon ddydd Sul, 1 Tachwedd. All the age group teams will be in action over the weekend. At last the U11s will start their season tomorrow with an away fixture at Mold, against Flintshire Schools (Saturday 31 October). The Academy teams at U12, U14 and U16 face a trip to Cefn Druids on Sunday November 1st. Best of luck to all the teams. 29/10/09 Rhagolwg: v Rhydymwyn / Preview: v Rhydymwyn Mae Rhydymwyn, a fydd ar y Traeth ddydd Sadwrn (am 2 pm!), yn dal yn ddiguro y tymor hwn ar ôl ennill 8 o’u 9 gêm sydd yn eu rhoi 4 pwynt yn glir o’r Bermo ar ben y Welsh Alliance. Maent yn edrych yn dîm sydd ar eu ffordd yn ôl i’r Cymru Alliance, cynghrair a enillwyd ganddynt yn 1997/98. Sam Jones ydy eu prif sgoriwr ar hyn o bryd gyda 6 gôl gyda Dean Hughes wedi sgorio 4. Yn ogystal mae Bryn Jenkins a Jay Hughes wedi sgorio 3 yr un sydd yn awgrymu fod goliau’r tîm yn dod o sawl cyfeiriad ar y cae. Yn rowndiau blaenorol y gystadleuaeth curwyd Llandyrnog (2-0) a Chaernarfon (1-0) ganddynt. Felly nid yw’n debygol y bydd Port yn eu cymryd yn ysgafn, yn enwedig o gofio fod Port wedi colli tair gêm yn olynol. Er mor wych oedd gweld Dylan Williams yn sgorio ei gôl gyntaf nos Fawrth diffyg goliau ydy’r broblem fawr sy’n poeni cefnogwyr Port. Tanlinellodd Tomi y broblem yn y rhaglen pan yn cyfeirio at gêm Aberystwyth, “Yr unig beth ar goll oedd y cynhwysyn holl bwysig GOLIAU!!” Gobeithio y gallwn ddechrau rhoi pethau’n iawn ddydd Sadwrn. Saturday’s Welsh Cup opponents, Rhydymwyn (at 2pm!), remain undefeated this season with 8 wins out of nine games putting them four points clear of Barmouth at the top of the Welsh Alliance. They look very much like a team on their way back to the Cymru Alliance, a league which they won in 1997/98. Sam Jones is their current leading scorer with 6 goals and Dean Hughes has 4. In addition Bryn Jenkins and Jay Hughes have 3 apiece which suggests that their goals come from all over the team. They beat Llandyrnog (2-0) and Caernarfon (1-0) in previous rounds of the Welsh Cup so with Port in a run of three straight defeats there is little chance of them taking Saturday’s opposition lightly. Though it was great to see Dylan Williams get his first goal on Tuesday it is the lack of goals that causes most concern for Port followers. Tomi Morgan underlined this in the match programme with reference to the Aberystwyth game saying, “The only thing missing was the final ingredient GOALS!!” Let’s hope they can start putting it right on Saturday. 29/10/09 Cic Gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch ddydd Sadwrn / 2 pm kick off on Saturday Dylai cefnogwyr nodi fod y gêm gwpan ar y Traeth yn erbyn Rhydymwyn ddydd Sadwrn yn cychwyn am 2 o’r gloch, ac nid fel y cyhoeddwyd yn y rhaglen ac ar bosteri. Supporters should note that Saturday’s Welsh Cup tie at the Traeth against Rhydymwyn will kick off at 2 pm and not as shown on the posters and printed in the match programme. 29/10/09 Hogiau’r bêl yn cael eu canmol / Ball boys on the ball Roedd yn dda clywed gymaint o sylw canmoliaethus i waith yr hogiau nos Fawrth ar y Traeth yn casglu ac yn pasio’r bêl yn ôl i’r chwaraewyr a hynny mor gyflym a threfnus. Y chwech a wnaeth eu gwaith mor dda oedd Dylan Sweeney, Leo Smith, Iwan Jones, Owain Williams, Osian Ellis a Gwynant Parry, i gyd yn aelodau o glwb CPD Porthmadog Juniors. Trefnwyd hyn, gan yr Academi, mewn ymateb i gais y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed i sicrhau fod yna hogiau ar gael i gasglu’r peli mewn gemau UGC ac mewn gemau Cwpan Cymru. Bu’r cyfan yn llwyddiant diolch i gydweithrediad Bernie Sweeney o CPD Porthmadog Juniors. Dywedodd Eddie Blackburn, gweinyddwr yr Academi, ei fod yn hapus iawn gyda’r drefn newydd gan ychwanegu “Dylem nodi fod yr hogiau ifanc wedi ymddwyn yn rhagorol ac yn dod a chlod i’r clwb a’u rhieni. Da iawn hogiau.” Mae’n dda deall fod Bernie hefyd wedi trefnu chwech arall i wneud y gwaith yn y gêm gwpan rhwng Port a Rhydymwyn ddydd Sadwrn. (Cofiwch y gic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch!!) There were a large number of positive comments made at the Traeth on Tuesday evening in response to the excellent work of the squad of ball boys, all noting how quickly the ball was retrieved and put back into play. The six boys who performed their duties so well are Dylan Sweeney, Leo Smith, Iwan Jones, Owain Williams, Osian Ellis and Gwynant Parry, all members of the Porthmadog Juniors FC. A new initiative issued from the FAW requiring home teams to provide ball boys for WPL games and Welsh Cup matches has been taken on by the Academy and proved a success thanks to the kind co-operation of Bernie Sweeney from the Porthmadog Juniors FC. Academy Administrator Eddie Blackburn was very pleased with the outcome and added. “It should be noted that these young lads conducted themselves throughout in a very commendable manner and were a credit to their Club and Parents. Well done lads!” Supporters will be pleased to know that Bernie has also arranged for 6 more boys to be on duty on Saturday at the game against Rhydymwyn in the Welsh Cup 3rd. Round. (Don’t forget kick off at 2.00pm not as printed in the programme!!). 28/10/09 Dylan yn sgorio’i gôl gyntaf / Never dull when Dyl’s around! Pan fod Dylan Williams, y chwaraewr ifanc 17 oed, yn dod i’r cae mae pethau dramatig yn dueddol o ddigwydd. Mae’r aelod o dîm Dan-16 llwyddiannus yr Academi y tymor diwethaf, hyd yma wedi dod i’r cae fel eilydd i’r tîm cyntaf dair gwaith. Gwnaeth ymddangosiad dramatig 7 munud cyn ddiwedd y gêm yn erbyn y Rhyl a dim ond munud yn ddiweddarach ergydiodd croesiad Mark Gornall i gefn y rhwyd o ddeunaw llath i sgorio gôl gyntaf Port ers 284 o funudau. Cynt roedd wedi dod i’r cae yn erbyn Hwlffordd ac yn y munud cyntaf derbyniodd gerdyn melyn am lawio’r bêl yn fwriadol! Things seem to happen when seventeen year-old Dylan Williams comes on to the pitch. A member of the successful U-16 Academy team last season he has so far made three substitute appearances for the first team. He made a dramatic entry in the 83rd minute of the League Cup tie against Rhyl and only a minute later drilled Mark Gornall’s cross into the back of the net from 18 yards to score Port’s first goal in 284 minutes of play. He had previously come on for his second sub appearance against Haverfordwest, and within a minute he received a yellow card for a deliberate hand ball! 28/10/09 Trwydded Ddomestig: y gwaith yn mynd yn ei flaen / Domestic Licence: Work in progress Nid yw safle’r clwb ar waelod UGC wedi golygu unrhyw oedi yn y gwaith perthnasol i’r cais am Drwydded Domestig, 2010/2011. Eisoes derbyniwyd prisiau ar gyfer y prif dasgau gan gynnwys y stiwdio, y stand newydd a’r goleuo mewn argyfwng. Mae’r cais ar gyfer grant y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed yn cael ei gwblhau. Mae’r clwb hefyd yn brysur yn chwilio am grantiau eraill posib, i helpu dalu costau’r cynllun. Os byddant yn llwyddiannus, ac yn sicrhau grantiau ychwanegol, fe allai’r cynllun ddatblygu yn un fwy uchelgeisiol. Mae Cadeirydd y clwb, Phil Jones, ac Angela Roberts, y Swyddog Trwyddedu, wedi cyfarfod â swyddogion Cyngor Gwynedd i drafod Tystysgrif i’r Stadiwm, ac i geisio sicrhau cytundeb ar yr uchafswm y gall y stadiwm ddal a hefyd cytuno cynllun gwagio’r cae mewn argyfwng. Ddydd Sul bydd swyddogion y clwb yn mynd i’r Drenewydd i seminar ar y Drwydded Domestig. Y cam nesaf wedyn fydd yr archwiliad cyntaf i’r cae a’r awdit sydd i gymryd lle ar 11 Rhagfyr. Erbyn hynny gobeithir fod y rhan fwyaf o’r gwaith papur wedi’i gwblhau a hefyd y mân gwelliannau o gwmpas y cae. Bydd y prif gynllun yn cael ei gwblhau yn gynnar yn 2010, cyn yr awdit terfynol. Being at the foot of the WPL has not halted progress on the work relating to the Domestic Licence application for 2010/11. Quotations are now to hand for all the main tasks including the studio, new stand and emergency lighting. The grant application to the FAW also nears completion. The club are actively looking for other grant sources apart from the FAW to assist with the cost of the scheme. Should the club be successful and gain extra grants then the scheme could be larger and more wide ranging than initially anticipated. Club Chairman Phil Jones and Licensing Officer Angela Roberts have met Gwynedd Council officials to discuss the Stadium Certificate and reach agreement on ground capacity and an evacuation plan. Club officials will attend Domestic Licensing Seminar for WPL clubs at Newtown on Sunday. An initial ground inspection and audit is to take place on December 11th by which time it is hoped that most of the paperwork and minor ground works will be completed. The main project will then be completed early in 2010 before the final audit. 27/10/09 Oddi cartref yn y Cwpan Ieuenctid / Away draw in the Welsh FA Youth Cup Yn rownd yr 16 olaf bydd Porthmadog -yn dilyn y fuddugoliaeth yn y Rhyl ar ôl ciciau o’r smotyn- yn teithio eto, y tro yma i Rhuthun. Bydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae ar ddydd Sul, 24 Ionawr gyda’r gic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch. Mae gweddill y gemau i’w gweld ar http://www.faw.org.uk/competitions/4 The draw for the last 16 of the Welsh FA Youth Cup has been made and following their excellent win in a penalty shoot-out at Rhyl, Porthmadog are drawn to travel once again this time to Ruthin. The tie will be played on Sunday January 24th with a 2pm kick-off. The draw in full can be found at http://www.faw.org.uk/competitions/4 27/10/09 Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru, 25 Hydref / Welsh Youth Cup Sunday October 25th Sicrhaodd tîm ieuenctid Port eu lle yn rownd nesaf Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru ddydd Sul drwy guro Rhyl ar giciau o’r smotyn wedi i bethau orffen yn gyfartal 3-3 ar ôl amser ychwanegol . Mae adroddiad llawn o’r gêm ar gael ar y dudalen Academi/Ieuenctid drwy glicio yma. Port’s youth team secured their place in the next round of the Welsh Youth Cup on Sunday, beating Rhyl on penalties with the match finishing in a 3-3 deadlock after injury time. A full report of the match is available on the Academy/Youth by clicking here. |
