Cynghrair Clwyd y Cefndir / The Clwyd Reserve League some Background

Cynghrair Clwyd League Gyda Ail-dîm Port yn mynd i ymuno a Chynghrair Clwyd i Ail-dimau ar ddechrau tymor 2010/11 efallai fod gan gefnogwyr ddiddordeb i wybod ychydig o gefndir y gynghrair honno. Mae cynghrair Clwyd yn haeddu canmoliaeth am y modd cyflym yr aethant ati unwaith penderfynodd y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed i beidio cynnwys Ail-dimau yn y pyramid o dymor 2010/11 ymlaen.
Galwyd cyfarfod mor bell yn ôl a Hydref 2008 gan benderfynu peidio aros i’r rheol newydd gael ei gweithredu ond i symud yn syth a ffurfio Cynghrair Ail-dimau ar ddechrau’r tymor presennol 2009/10. Ar hyn o bryd mae yna 10 clwb yn y gynghrair yn cynnwys ail-dimau tri chlwb UGC –Prestatyn, Rhyl a Cei Conna- tri chlwb o’r Cymru Alliance –Y Fflint, Dinbych a Llandudno- a phedwar o’r Welsh Alliance –Glan Conwy, Cyffordd Llandudno, Helygain a Llandyrnog.
Prestatyn sydd ar ben y tabl ar hyn o bryd gyda’r Fflint a Dinbych yn dilyn. Mae Port yn hapus iawn i gael eu derbyn a yn edrych ymlaen at y sialens newydd yn 2010/11

With the Porthmadog Reserves set to join the Clwyd Reserve League for season 2010/11 here is the background to the formation of this relatively new league. Clwyd League officials are to be applauded for the speed at which they moved once the FAW decided that all Reserve teams were to be removed from the pyramid structure for season 2010/2011.
They called a meeting in October 2008 and decided not to wait for the FAW ruling to come into force and commenced their Reserve League at the start of the present season 2009/10. It has 10 clubs consisting of the reserve teams of three WPL clubs –Prestatyn, Rhyl and Connah’s Quay- three Cymru Alliance clubs –Flint, Denbigh and Llandudno- and four from the Welsh Alliance –Glan Conwy, Llandudno Junction, Halkyn and Llandyrnog.
Prestatyn Reserves are the current league leaders followed by Flint and Denbigh. Port are pleased their application was accepted and look forward to the challenge in 2010/11.

Newid dyddiad Cwpan Ieuenctid / Youth Cup Semi switched

Mae yna ddyddiad newydd i’r gêm yn rownd gynderfynol Cwpan Ieuenctid yr Arfordir rhwng Porthmadog a Llandudno a oedd i’w chwarae ddydd Sul (6 Mawrth). Bellach fydd y gêm ar y Sul canlynol, 13 Mawrth. Ar y Traeth fydd y gêm gyda’r gic gyntaf am 2pm.
Bu’n rhaid newid y dyddiad oherwydd fod Llandudno yn chwarae YMCA Casnewydd yng Nghwpan Ieuenctid Cymru ar y 6 Mawrth.

The North Wales Coast Youth Cup semi final tie between Porthmadog and Llandudno scheduled for Sunday (March 6th) has now been switched to Sunday, March 13th. The game will be at the Traeth and the kick off is at 2pm.
This change became necessary because Llandudno are playing their Welsh FA Youth Cup tie against Newport YMCA on March 6th.

Rhagolwg: v Hwlffordd / Preview: v Haverfordwest

Hwlffordd / Haverfordwest Ddydd Sadwrn fydd Port yn chwarae Hwlffordd clwb sy’n edrych am bob pwynt wrth iddyn nhw, fel Port, frwydro i gadw ei lle yn UGC. Mae’r bwlch o 14 pwynt rhwng y ddau glwb yn dangos mor annhebyg ydy hi i Port lwyddo a chyrraedd y nod hwnnw. Ond os ydynt am gadw’r fflam ynghyn bydd rhaid cael rhediad eithriadol gan gychwyn ddydd Sadwrn.
Nos Fawrth ychwanegwyd Marcus Orlik at y rhestr niferus o anafiadau wrth iddo dynnu llinyn y gar ac y debygol o fod allan am dipyn. Mae hyn yn dilyn yr anafiadau a gafodd Andy Evans a Huw Owens sydd yn golygu fod tri o’r chwaraewyr a arwyddodd yn ystod ffenestr drosglwyddo mis Ionawr allan am gyfnod sylweddol. Dyma’r math o lwc sydd wedi dilyn Port y tymor yma.
Mae yna amheuaeth hefyd am y capten Ryan Davies a dderbyniodd anaf i’w ysgwydd yn erbyn y Rhyl. Y newyddion da ydy fod John Keegan a Chris Jones bellach yn rhydd o waharddiadau ac ar gael.
Cofiwn am y llwyddiant mae Hwlffordd wedi cael ar y Traeth dros nifer o dymhorau hyd at llynedd pan dorrwyd y rhediad. Bydd angen perfformiad tebyg gan hogiau Tomi ddydd Sadwrn. Un gêm mae Hwlffordd wedi ennill o’r bedair ddiwethaf ac fel Port nid ydynt wedi bod yn canfod y rhwyd mor rheolaidd ac arfer yn ddiweddar. Dim ond 5 gôl sydd gan Jack Christopher eleni ac mae Robbie Walters, prif sgoriwr y clwb, wedi gadael. Gobeithio fod Port ar ôl sgorio pump nos Fawrth yn cofio bellach lle yn union mae’r gôl!

On Saturday, Port take on a Haverfordwest team who are looking for every point as they like Port battle to retain WPL status. The gap of 14 points between the two clubs shows how slender Port’s chances are of achieving that target. If they are to keep the flame alive they will need to go on quite a run and start that on Saturday.
There are the by now usual crop of injuries with Marcus Orlik, who picked up a hamstring pull in the midweek cup tie, likely to be out for several weeks. This follows long term injuries picked up by Andy Evans and Huw Owens which means that three of the January transfer window signings are out for some time. Luck has certainly not followed Port this season. Skipper Ryan Davies, who injured his shoulder against Rhyl, is also a doubt. The good news is that John Keegan and Chris Jones are free of suspension and therefore available.
The success that Haverfordwest have enjoyed at the Traeth over recent seasons has been well documented. But last season Tomi’s team did manage to break the sequence and must look for a repeat performance on Saturday. Haverfordwest have not been in the best of form recently winning only one of their last four games. Like Port they have not found the net as readily as in previous seasons with the usually prolific Jack Christopher only managing 5 in WPL games this season. Also their leading scorer Robbie Walters has left the club. Let’s hope that finding the net 5 times on Tuesday will mean that our strikers now realise where the goal is!

Ail Dîm ym mis Chwefror / Reserves February Round-up

Cynghrair Gwynedd League Bu Chwefror yn fis da i’r Ail Dîm. Sicrhawyd 7 pwynt allan o 9 gan orffen y mis yn yr 8fed safle yn y tabl. Ymweliad a Bethel gychwynnodd y mis a diolch i hat tric Cai Jones mewn 11 munud achubwyd bwynt wedi’i Bethel fynd 3-0 ar y blaen. Dilynwyd hyn gyda buddugoliaeth dros Bodedern, y tîm yn y trydydd safle, o 2-1. Unwaith eto bu’n rhaid i Port ddod o’r tu ôl gyda Carl Threadgill yn sgorio’i gôl gyntaf ers ymuno o Lanystumdwy a Stephen Jones yn sgorio’r gôl dwy funud o’r diwedd i sicrhau’r tri phwynt. I orffen y mis cafwyd buddugoliaeth swmpus dros Bontnewydd. Daeth y gol gyntaf, ar ôl chwarter awr, gan John R Jones gyda dwy arall yn dilyn o fewn munud i’w gilydd gan Ezra Warren a Mark Bridge i wneud y sgôr yn 3-0 ar yr hanner. Cafwyd dwy gan Carl Threadgill yn ystod yr ail hanner a gwasgodd Osian Owen un i fewn rhwng y ddwy yma i wneud y sgôr terfynol yn 6-0.

February has been a good month for the Reserves who picked up 7 points out of 9, ending the month in 8th place in the table. They started the month with a visit to Bethel where a Cai Jones hat trick in just 11 minutes enabled them to turn around a 3-0 deficit and level things up to gain an unlikely point. They followed this up with a 2-1 victory over 3rd placed Bodedern. Once again they had to come from behind with Carl Threadgill scoring his first goal since joining from Llanystumdwy and Stephen Jones snatching the winner with only two minutes left. The last game of the month produced a clear cut victory over Bontnewydd with John R Jones opening the scoring after a quarter of an hour. Two more goals within a minute of each other from Ezra Warren and Mark Bridge made it 3-0 by half-time. Craig Threadgill scored twice in the second half and Osian Owen squeezed another in between Carl’s brace to make it 6-0 at the final whistle.

Y Gymuned yn ffarwelio â Bethan / A community bids farewell

Am awr neu ddwy fore Sadwrn, daeth prysurdeb arferol Porthmadog i stop tra ’roedd pobl yr ardal yn eu cannoedd yn ffarwelio â Bethan, gwraig Mike Foster a mam Ffion a Carwyn. Roedd Capel y Porth a’r festri yn llawn dop o deulu a ffrindiau yn ogystal â chwaraewyr a swyddogion clwb Porthmadog –o’r presennol a’r gorffennol. Tu allan y capel, safai llawer eto yn ychwanegu eu ffarwel distaw â mam a gwraig a gafodd ei chymryd mor ddirybudd.
Rhoddwyd teyrnged i Bethan gan y Parch. Gareth Edwards a arweiniodd y gwasanaeth. Tynnodd ar elfennau pwysig o’i bywyd –ei theulu, y bêl-droed, ffrindiau a hefyd ei gwaith yn Ysbyty Alltwen- i greu darlun o ferch gariadus, ofalus a hynod drefnus, un a oedd prin yn byw bywyd ar lai na ‘ffwl spîd’ a lle roedd y bedair awr ar hugain mewn diwrnod prin yn ddigon iddi. Uwchlaw pob dim, roedd yn wraig ac yn fam gyda’r teulu bob amser yn dod gyntaf.
Er tristwch yr achlysur, roedd yn wasanaeth llawn urddas a theimlad.

For a couple of hours on Saturday morning, everyday life came to a halt in Porthmadog as the people of the area turned out in their hundreds to pay their respects to Bethan, wife of Mike Foster and mother of Ffion and Carwyn. Capel y Porth and the church vestry were packed with family and friends together with players and officials past and present of Porthmadog FC. Outside others stood to say their silent goodbyes to a popular wife and mother whose life was so sadly and suddenly cut short.
Bethan was paid a heartfelt tribute by the Rev. Gareth Edwards, who led the service, and who drew on the various elements in her short but very full life -her family, the football, her numerous friends and her work at Alltwen Hospital- to paint a picture of a generous, meticulous, highly organised person who rarely got out of top gear, a person for whom the twenty four hours available in a day were rarely enough. Above all however she was a wife and a mother who always put her family first.
Though a very sad occasion, it proved to be a moving and impressive service.

Port yn mynd allan o’r Cwpan Ieuenctid / Port go out of Youth Cup

Aeth Port allan o Gwpan Ieuenctid Cymru ar ôl colli o 2-0 yn y 4ydd Rownd yn erbyn Abertawe ddoe.
Roedd tasg anodd yn wynebu hogiau Port wrth iddynt groesawu ieuenctid Abertawe i’r Traeth yn rownd wyth olaf Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru ond cafwyd perfformiad cystadleuol ganddynt. Llwyddwyd i ddal yr ymwelwyr tan ychydig cyn yr hanner pan sgoriodd Joe Walsh gyda pheniad. Yn yr ail hanner roedd Port yn dal yn y gêm ac yn dal i frwydro a ni setlwyd y gêm tan yn hwyr pan sgoriodd Gwion Edwards ail gôl Abertawe.

Port went out of the FAW Youth cup losing yesterday’s 4th Round tie against SwanseaCity by 2-0. Porthmadog faced a difficult task entertaining the young Swansea City trainees in the quarter final of the FAW Youth Cup but gave a good account of themselves. They held their talented opponents until just before half-time when a Joe Walsh header put them ahead. Port continued to work hard and to compete but the tie was settled late on when Gwion Edwards scored Swansea’s second.

Golwg ymlaen at Abertawe ar y Traeth / Look ahead to Swansea at the Traeth

Abertawe / SwanseaGyda’r gêm yn UGC at ddydd Sadwrn wedi’i gohirio oherwydd fod TNS yn chwarae yng Nghwpan Cymru mae ein diddordeb yn troi at y gêm ddeniadol ar y Traeth ddydd Sul yn 4ydd Rownd o Gwpan ieuenctid Cymru yn erbyn chwaraewyr proffesiynol ifanc Abertawe. Enillodd hogiau Port y cyfle hwn wrth guro Rhyl a Rhuthun yn y rowndiau cynt. Mae’r tîm yn cynnwys cnewyllyn o’r tîm Dan-16 a enillodd Gwpan Academi Cymru llynedd.
Trefnwyd y gêm hon yn wreiddiol at ddydd Sul diwethaf ond bu’n rhaid gohirio oherwydd fod pump o garfan Abertawe yn ymarfer gyda charfan Cymru Dan-17. O hyn gellir gweld safon ein gwrthwynebwyr gan fod nifer o’r clwb hefyd yng ngharfan Dan-19 Cymru.
Dymunwn pob lwc i’r hogiau wrth iddynt edrych ymlaen at y sialens yn erbyn rhai o dalentau ifanc gorau Cymru.

With Saturday’s WPL game postponed due to the Welsh Cup tie between TNS and Port Talbot our interest now turns to the attractive Welsh FA 4th Round Youth Cup tie, at the Traeth on Sunday afternoon, against the Swansea City squad of young professionals. The Porthmadog U-19s, who reached this stage following wins over Rhyl and Ruthin, is made up of a nucleus of the successful Academy U-16 Welsh Academy Cup winners last season.
The game was originally scheduled for last Sunday but had to be switched because five Swansea City youngsters were involved in Wales U-17 squad training. We can gauge from this the strength of the opposition on Sunday with a large number of young Swans also involved in the Wales U-19 squad.
We wish our young players the best of luck on Sunday. They will be delighted to have earned the opportunity to pit their skills against some of the best young players in Wales.

Byddai’r clwb yn gwerthfawrogi cymorth gan gyfeillion, am ryw awr fore Sadwrn yng Nghlwb y Traeth er mwyn paratoi’r lluniaeth fydd yn dilyn y cynhebrwng.

The club would be grateful for any assistance from friends with the preparation of refreshments which will be provided after the funeral at the Traeth Clubhouse. An hour or so of your time would be much appreciated.

Sesiwn Sgiliau Pêl-droed / Soccer Skills Session

Cafwyd Sesiwn Sgiliau Pêl-droed llwyddiannus iawn fore Sadwrn ar y Traeth, gyda 12 o blant yn cael eu hyfforddi. Fe wnaeth hogia’r tîm cyntaf eu hyfforddi mewn sgiliau driblio, penio a thaclo. Cafwyd gêm 6 bob ochr ar ddiwedd y sesiwn a chiciau o’r smotyn efo Tomi yn y gôl. Mae’r clwb yn gobeithio cynnal mwy o sesiynau yn y dyfodol agos.

Highslide JS

A highly successful Soccer Skills Session was held on Saturday morning at the Traeth, with 12 children taking part in the training. The first team lads provided them with dribbling, heading and tackling skills coaching. They had a 6-a-side match at the end of the session followed by a penalty shoot out with Tomi between the sticks. The club hopes to conduct further such sessions in the near future.

Bethan

Gyda thristwch mawr mae’n rhaid cofnodi marwolaeth Bethan, gwraig Mike Foster cefnwr ymroddedig y clwb. Bu farw heno (nos Sul) am 5.30 pm .Estynnwn ein cydymdeimlad llwyraf a diffuant â Mike, y plant a’r teulu cyfan yn eu colled drist a disymwth. Mae’r newyddion wedi dod yn sioc enfawr i bawb yn y clwb ac i gymuned gyfan wrth i ferch hapus, siriol a dymunol gael ei dwyn mor ddirybudd oddi ar deulu a olyga gymaint iddi. Nid gwraig i chwaraewr yn unig oedd Bethan ond cefnogwraig frwdfrydig a oedd, gyda Ffion a Carwyn, yn bresenoldeb rheolaidd ar y Traeth ac ar gaeau eraill lle fyddai Port yn chwarae.
Ar ôl cael ei chymryd yn wael yn ei chartref ddydd Gwener aed â Bethan yn gyntaf i Ysbyty Gwynedd ac wedyn ymlaen i Walton, Lerpwl. I gychwyn dangosodd arwyddion o wella ac eto ar ôl derbyn llaw driniaeth. Ond tuag at ddiwedd yr wythnos, gwaethygodd ei chyflwr yn fawr a bu’n rhaid ei rhoi ar beiriant cynnal bywyd. Erbyn ddydd Sadwrn, roedd y diwedd yn anorfod a diffoddwyd y peiriant ac roedd meddyliau pawb ar y Traeth ymhell mewn man arall gyda’r gêm ar y cae yn fater hollol ddibwys. Mae’r clwb yn addo pob cefnogaeth i Mike ar amser mor anodd.

With great sadness we have to report the passing of Bethan, the wife of Mike Foster, Port’s long serving defender. She past away at 5.30 pm today (Sunday). We extend our deepest and most sincere sympathy to Mike, the children and the whole family in their most sad and sudden loss. The club and the whole of the wider community have been deeply shocked at the way in which a happy, lovely person has been so suddenly and cruelly taken from a family who meant so much to her. Bethan was, not only the wife of a footballer, but a keen fan herself, and she and Ffion and Carwyn were familiar figures both at the Traeth and at away grounds where Port were playing.
After collapsing at her home on Friday, Bethan was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd and then on to Walton, Liverpool. Initially she showed signs of recovery which continued following an operation. But later in the week, her condition worsened suddenly and she was placed on a life support machine. By Saturday the end became inevitable and the life support was turned off. The thoughts of supporters were far from the Traeth as the game they were witnessing became an irrelevance. The club promises all possible support to Mike at this difficult time.

The tie has been re-arranged for next week (Tuesday, 2 March) and will now be played at the Traeth with a 7.30 pm kick off.

Newyddion am Bethan / News of Bethan

Mae Bethan yn dal yn yr ysbyty ac hefyd yn dal ym meddyliau pawb sy’n gysylltiedig â’r clwb o’r cadeirydd a’r swyddogion, y tîm rheoli a’r cefnogwyr a chyd-chwaraewyr Mike i gyd mewn consyrn mawr am sefyllfa a gododd mor ddirybudd. Bu’r cadeirydd Phil Jones mewn cysylltiad ag aelod o’r teulu ac mae o’n dweud, er i Bethan yn y lle cyntaf gymryd tro pendant er gwell, mae hi yn awr yn yr uned gofal dwys. Mae ein holl obeithion am y gorau, ein gweddïau a’n dymuniadau gorau yn mynd i Bethan a Mike yn y cyfnod anodd hwn.

Bethan remains in hospital in Liverpool and is very much in the thoughts of all at the club from the chairman and club officials, the club management and supporters and Mike’s team mates -all are deeply concerned about a situation which arose so suddenly. Phil Jones, club chairman, has been in touch with a family member and he reports that after initially making good progress we now understand that Bethan is in the intensive care unit. Our hopes and prayers and sincere best wishes are with Bethan and Mike at this difficult time.

Ail Dîm i chwarae yng Nghlwyd yn 2010/11 / Reserves to play in Clwyd in 2010/11

Cynghrair Clwyd LeagueGyda phroblemau yn codi i lawer o Ail Dimau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru, oherwydd penderfyniad y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed i esgymuno ail dimau o’r pyramid ar ddiwedd y tymor presennol, mae Port wedi dod o hyd i ateb creadigol. Gwnaethant gais i chwarae yng Nghynghrair Ail Dimau Clwyd ar gyfer tymor 2010/11. Bellach mae hwn wedi’i dderbyn. Newyddion da felly ac mae’r swyddogion yn haeddu eu llongyfarch.
Derbyniodd y clwb y golau gwyrdd gan Gynghrair Clwyd ddydd Mercher gyda’r llythyr yn dweud, “Mae pwyllgor gwaith y Gynghrair a’r clybiau wedi pleidleisio yn unfrydol i dderbyn eich cais”.Meddai Gerallt Owen, ysgrifennydd y clwb, “Penderfynwyd, ychydig o wythnosau yn ôl, i wneud y cais hwn ar ôl trafod gyda nifer o grwpiau perthnasol. Rym yn ddiolchgar iawn i’r gynghrair am ein derbyn. Buom yn chwarae beth oedd fwy neu lai yn ail dîm y Rhyl yn y Cwpan Ieuenctid ychydig yn ôl ac roedd yn gêm gystadleuol iawn a chredwn y cawn safon dda o bêl-droed fydd yn pontio’r gagendor rhwng chwarae i’r Academi a’r tîm cyntaf.” Ychwanegodd, “Rym yn derbyn fod hyn yn golygu llawer o deithio ond teimlwn fod rhaid inni ymdrechu i ddatblygu a gwella safon chwaraewyr ifanc yn yr ardal.”
Mae Adrian Jones, rheolwr yr Ail Dîm, wedi’i blesio gyda’r y newyddion, “Dyma newyddion da iawn. Bydd hyn yn cynnig profiad da i’r chwaraewyr ifanc.”
Dywedodd y wefan hon ar 18/11/09, “Efallai mai’r dewis gorau i glybiau sydd o ddifri am greu cynghrair addas ydy cael trafodaethau gyda Chynghrair Clwyd gan ei bod yn edrych mai hwn yw'r opsiwn gorau i ddatblygu cynghrair o safon.” Cyngor da a chonsensws!!

With the current problems for many Welsh Premier Reserve teams resulting from the FAW’s decision to exclude reserve teams from the pyramid at the end of the present season Porthmadog FC have found an inventive answer. They have applied and been accepted into the Clwyd Reserve Premier League for season 2010/11. This is good news and club officials are to be congratulated.
The club received the green light from the Clwyd League on Wednesday; the letter said “The executive committee of the League and its member clubs have voted unanimously to accept your application”. Club Secretary Gerallt Owen said, “We decided some weeks ago after discussions with various parties that we would apply, and we are extremely grateful to the league for accepting us. We played what amounted to Rhyl Reserves in the Welsh Youth Cup earlier in the season and the game was highly competitive and we believe it will provide a decent level of football to try and bridge the gap between the players in the Academy and first team football”. He added “We accept that there will be a lot of travelling but feel that we must make the effort to develop and improve young players in the area.”
Reserve team manager Adrian Jones was also pleased with the news he said “This is really good news, and it will provide our young players with good experience”.
This website said on 18/11/09, “Perhaps a better option would be for clubs who are concerned about the future of their reserve teams to open negotiations with the Clwyd League as that would appear to best chance of providing a league of suitable strength.” Good advice and consensus!!

Gwell newyddion am Bethan / Better news of Bethan

Mae cefnogwyr a swyddogion Port wedi’u brawychu wrth glywed fod Bethan, gwraig Mike Foster, wedi’i chymryd yn wael a hynny yn sydyn ac yn ddifrifol pnawn Gwener (12 Chwefror). Cafodd ei rhuthro i Ysbyty Gwynedd cyn cael ei symud i Walton, Lerpwl. Mae’n dda medru adrodd yn dilyn 48 awr boenus iawn i’r teulu fod cyflwr Bethan yn dangos peth gwelliant. Dymunwn yn dda i Bethan gan obeithio y bydd yn dal i wella. Mae Mike hefyd yn ein meddyliau yn ogystal â’r plant Ffion a Carwyn.

Club officials and supporters were extremely concerned to hear that Mike Foster’s wife Bethan had been taken suddenly and seriously ill on Friday (12 February). She was rushed to Ysbyty Gwynedd and then transferred to Walton in Liverpool. We are however pleased to report that after an extremely worrying 48 hours for the family there has been an improvement in Bethan’s condition. We wish Bethan well and trust that she will continue to make progress. Our thoughts are with Mike and children Ffion and Carwyn.

Rhagolwg: v Llanelli / Preview: v Llanelli

Llanelli Tro Porthmadog ydy hi i ddioddef odrwydd y rhestr gemau sy’n gwneud i bob clwb yn eu tro wynebu’r tri mawr Llanelli, Rhyl a TNS ar benwythnosau yn dilyn ei gilydd. Ac i wneud pethau’n waeth, mae’n rhaid chwarae Llanelli a nhw ar rhediad o wyth buddugoliaeth yn olynol yn y gynghrair, rhediad sydd wedi mynd a nhw i frig y tabl. Mae gallu Llanelli i ennill gyda pherfformiad a ddisgrifiodd ei rheolwr Andy Legg fel un gwarthus yn tanlinellu maint y dasg. Mae ganddynt dîm sefydlog, profiadol gyda Rhys Griffiths a’i lygad am gôl gystal ag erioed wrth ’stelcian ar y postyn cefn neu dorri o ganol cae. Yn ogystal mae seren ifanc fel Jordan Follows yn gwybod y ffordd i’r gôl.
Rhaid i Port ddod â’r hyder o ennill eu trydydd gêm o’r tymor dros y penwythnos diwethaf –un dipyn mwy pendant na sgôr o 1-0. Mae’r chwaraewyr newydd a ddaeth i fewn wedi rhoi gwell cydbwysedd i’r tîm ond er fod yr amddiffyn yn edrych yn gadarn mae’r broblem o ddiffyg goliau yn aros. Ond mae’r posibilrwydd o greu sioc, fel y canfu TNS ar lannau Dyfrdwy wythnos diwethaf, yn dal i fod. Llwyddodd Port greu ambell sioc hefyd fel yr un ym mis Tachwedd wrth ddal TNS i gêm gyfartal. Cafwyd ambell berfformiad cofiadwy yn erbyn Llanelli hefyd ond y tymor diwethaf cafodd Port eu cosbi am gamgymeriadau gwael. Ond mewn pêl-droed rhaid byth dweud byth, er bydd angen ymdrech fawr i gael canlyniad ddydd Sul. Mae’n hen bryd inni gael ychydig o lwc ond bydd rhaid llwyddo heb Dan Pyrs sydd ddim ar gael.
Ewch i Coral i roi bet ar Llanelli v Porthmadog.

It’s Porthmadog’s turn to face up to the strange quirk in this season’s fixture list which has made each club, in turn, face the elite three of Llanelli, Rhyl and TNS on successive weekends. To pile on the agony there can hardly be a worse time to take on Llanelli, with the club on a winning run of 8 straight league wins, a run which has taken them to the top of the table. Nothing could underline the problem more than the fact that they can still win with a performance which manager Andy Legg described as ‘dreadful’. They have an established and experienced team with Rhys Griffiths’ eye for goal as good as ever, whether lurking at the back post or breaking from midfield. In addition rising stars like Jordan Follows also know the route to goal.
Port must take heart from notching their third win of the season last weekend –a more comprehensive win than the single goal suggests. The transfer window signings appear to have given the team a better balance but, although the defence looks increasingly solid, the lack of goal power remains. Surprises can however happen, as TNS found at the Deeside Stadium last week. Port have also been known to pull off the odd surprise picking up a point against TNS back in November and there has been the occasional memorable performance against Llanelli also. Last season bad errors contributed to a heavy defeat. But in football you never say never, though it will take a mighty effort to get a result this Sunday –but then we are due some luck though we will have to do it without Dan Pyrs who is unavailable.

Hat tric ar frys i Cai / Cai’s quick time hat trick

Cai Jones Mewn cwta 11 munud sgoriodd Cai Jones hat tric i’r Ail Dîm yn Bethel ddydd Sadwrn ( 6 Chwefror). Roedd yr hogiau 3-0 ar ei hôl hi gyda’r gêm drosodd i bob pwrpas ond dyma’r blaenwr 17 oed yn rhwydo’i gôl gyntaf â 73 munud ar y cloc. Wedyn pum munud yn ddiweddarach sgoriodd eto a gyda 6 munud yn weddill rhwydodd y drydedd a sicrhau pwynt annhebygol iawn.
Chwaraeodd Cai ei gêm lawn gyntaf i’r tîm cyntaf ym Mhrestatyn ar 31 Ionawr ac er na lwyddodd i daro cefn y rhwyd cafwyd perfformiad hyderus a llawn egni ganddo.

Cai Jones completed a remarkable hat trick in only eleven minutes for the reserves at Bethel on Saturday (6 February). The Reserves were three goals down and the game looked over but the 17 year old striker netted his first in the 73rd minute of the game adding a second five minutes later and in the 84th minute completed his hat trick salvaging an unlikely point.
Cai played his first full game in the senior team at Prestatyn on 31 January and, though he did not get his name of the score sheet, gave a confident display with a high workrate.

Un arall yn arwyddo / One more newcomer

Yn ddistaw bach mae Tomi Morgan wedi dod ac un wyneb newydd arall i’r Traeth cyn i’r ffenestr drosglwyddo gau. Mae Jamie Rogers yn ymuno o Highfield Athletic clwb yng Nghynghrair Cylch Caer. O’r clwb yma hefyd daeth Aaron Stokoe a wnaeth argraff ffafriol yn ystod ei 131 munud ar y cae ers iddo ddechrau ei gêm gyntaf yn y gêm yng nghwpan Cymru ym Mhrestatyn. Jamie Rogers ydy’r pumed chwaraewr i ymuno a charfan Tomi yn ystod y ffenestr drosglwyddo, yn dilyn Andy Evans, Robert Evans, Marcus Orlik a Sion Meredith.

Tomi Morgan has quietly slipped in one more fresh face before the January window closed. Jamie Rogers has joined from the Chester District League club Highfield Athletic. Aaron Stokoe, who has created a very favourable impression in the 131 minutes he has played for Port since making a belated debut at Prestatyn, in the Welsh Cup tie, also signed from the same club. Rogers is the 5th player to join Tomi’s squad during the January window following Andy Evans, Robert Evans, Marcus Orlik and Siôn Meredith.

Llwyddiant yn y Bala i ddau dîm Academi / Success for two Academy teams at Bala

Bala Bu’r tri grwp oed Academi yn chwarae yn erbyn y Bala heddiw (7 Chwefror). Gyda unig gôl y gêm y Bala a enillodd y gêm Dan-16. Ond Port oedd yn llwyddiannus yn y ddwy gêm arall yn sicrhau buddugoliaethau swmpus o 5-0 yn yr oed Dan-14 ac o 4-0 i’r tîm Dan-12. Bydd manylion pellach am y gemau yn ymddangos ar y wefan unwaith y byddant i law.
Wedi’u Brestatyn dynnu allan ar y funud olaf a Rhyl wrthod chwarae ar gae â gorchudd tenau o eira, roedd yn dda clywed fod y chwaraewyr ifanc wedi cael cyfle i chwarae eto a hynny yn y tri grwp oed.

The three academy age group teams were in action at Bala this morning (7 February). By the only goal of the game Bala ran out winners in the U-16 game. Port, however, gained clear cut victories in the other two games with the U-14s winning by 5-0 and the U-12s also successful, this time by 4-0. Full details will appear on the website as soon as they are received.
After the late withdrawal of Prestatyn, followed by Rhyl’s refusal to play on a pitch with a light covering of snow, it was good to hear that our young players were back in action and that all three age-group games were played.
