Y Traeth yn cofio Ffion / The Traeth remembers Ffion

Ffion Roberts Ni fedrai’r heulwen hyfryd a oedd yn gorchuddio’r Traeth ddydd Sadwrn guddio tristwch yr achlysur wrth i’r clwb pêl-droed roi eu teyrnged hwy i Ffion, cefnogwraig ffyddlon ac aelod rheolaidd o’r tîm yn y cantîn. Cymerwyd ei bywyd mewn amgylchiadau gwbl trasig.
Wrth i amser cychwyn y gêm agosáu, arweiniwyd y dyfarnwr a’i gyd swyddogion a’r chwaraewyr i’r cae gan Dilwyn Lloyd Parry, un arall o ddilynwyr ffyddlon y clwb, a aeth ymlaen i osod torch yn y cylch canol i gofio Ffion. Ymunodd cefnogwyr Port Talbot gyda selogion y Traeth mewn tawelwch i fynegi eu parch at eneth hapus, garedig ac hefyd fel arwydd o gydymdeimlad ag Idris, Bethan ac Elgan.
Dywedodd y cadeirydd Phil Jones am Ffion, “Roedd bob amser mor barod ac ystyriol ac mi fydda i’n cofio am y ffordd roedd bob amser yn sicrhau bod yna fwyd imi ar ôl i mi orffen gweithio ar y cae wedi’r gêm. Y pethau bach sy’n dweud y cyfan am ei natur feddylgar a llawn gofal.”
Ychwanegodd ysgrifennydd y clwb Gerallt Owen, “Teimlir y golled ar ei gwaethaf o fewn y teulu a gobeithio fod ymateb cefnogol a chariadus y dref a’r ardal yn gymorth iddynt. Mynegir y teimladau yma yn arbennig ar Facebook gyda bron i 4,000 wedi ymuno erbyn ddydd Iau gyda channoedd o negeseuon llawn teimlad yn cael eu gadael i gofio Ffion. Roeddent yn dweud am eneth llawn hwyl, yn ystyriol o eraill a bob amser yn barod ei chymorth.”

The beautiful sunny day at the Traeth on Saturday could not conceal the sadness of the occasion as the club paid tribute to Ffion a loyal supporter and a faithful member of the canteen team whose young life was taken in the most tragic circumstances.
As kick off time approached, the match officials and players were lead on to the field by Dilwyn Lloyd Parry, another dedicated supporter of the club, who placed a floral tribute to Ffion on the centre spot. Port Talbot supporters then joined with the Traeth faithful in a poignant silent tribute to a kind and generous person, and as an expression of condolence with Idris and Bethan and Elgan.
Chairman Phil Jones said of Ffion “She was always willing and considerate and I will remember the way she made sure that a meal was kept for me after games when I had completed my stint on the pitch. It is the little things which epitomise her caring and thoughtful nature.”
Club Secretary Gerallt Owen added, “The loss will be greatest within her family and hopefully the outpouring of support and affection in the town and the locality will be some small comfort to her family. Those feelings are particularly poignant on Facebook, where by Thursday almost 4,000 people had joined, and hundreds of heartfelt messages remembering Ffion had been left. They speak glowingly of a fun loving girl who was always considerate and helpful in her dealings with other people.”

Gêm bwysig i’r Dan-12 / Important quarter final for U-12s

Bydd tîm Dan-12 yr Academi yn teithio i Gei Conna, ddydd Sul (18 Ebrill), ar gyfer gêm bwysig yn rownd wyth olaf Cwpan Academi Cymru. Mae’r hogiau Dan-12 wedi cael tymor da a dymunwn yn dda iddynt ddydd Sul.
Mae gan y timau Dan-14 a Dan-16 gemau pwysig hefyd i’w chwarae yn y Clwb Chwaraeon bore Sul nesaf, gyda’r ddwy gêm yn cychwyn am 10.30 am. O’r diwedd mae’r gemau yn erbyn y Rhyl, a ohiriwyd sawl gwaith, yn cael eu chwarae a bydd yn rhaid i’r ddau dîm ennill i gael unrhyw siawns i gyrraedd wyth olaf Cwpan yr Academi.
Bydd yna funud o dawelwch er cof am Ffion cyn y gemau yn y Clwb Chwaraeon.

The Academy U-12s have an important quarter final game coming up on Sunday (18 April) when they travel to Connah’s Quay. The U-12s have had a good season and we wish them well on Sunday.
The U-14s and U-16s also have important home games to be played at Clwb Chwaraeon on Sunday with the kick off for both games at 10.30 am. The much postponed games against Rhyl are at last being played and the Port lads need to win both games if they are to stand any chance of qualifying for the quarter finals of the Academy Cup competition.
Before the games at Clwb Chwaraeon there will be a minute’s silence in memory of Ffion.

Rhagolwg: v Port Talbot / Preview: v Port Talbot

Gallai’r llwyddiant hwyr a ddaeth i Port, yn ennill gemau gefn wrth gefn mewn 4 niwrnod, droi pennau, ond yn sicr bydd y traed yn ôl ar y ddaear wrth i dîm llwyddiannus Port Talbot ymweld â’r Traeth. Yn barod mae Port Talbot drwodd i rownd derfynol Cwpan Cymru a hefyd mae gan dîm Mark Jones siawns dda i orffen yn drydydd yn y gynghrair gan sicrhau lle yn Ewrop.
Ni fydd angen atgoffa Port mae’r perfformiad yn y gêm gyfatebol oedd eu gwaethaf hyd yn oed mewn tymor cyffredin iawn. “I lawr yno roedden ni’n warthus” oedd sylw Tomi Morgan i'r Herald.
Ond wrth edrych ymlaen fe ychwanegodd, “Byddwn yn rhoi y tîm cryfaf allan a mynd amdani, da ni ddim yn y busnes o rhoi ffafrau i neb. Does na ddim pwysau arnom ni.” Wrth edrych yn ôl ar y tymor ychwanegodd, “Welais i ddim tymor tebyg i hwn ers i fi ddechrau fel rheolwr. Mae popeth a allai fynd o’i le wedi mynd o’i le.”
Ond bydd y tîm yn awyddus i ddangos ar y Traeth peth o’r gwelliant a welwyd mewn gemau oddi cartref. Mae Chris Jones, Cai Jones a Marcus Orlik wedi ffurfio partneriaeth addawol yn y blaen ond bydd angen iddynt fod ar eu gorau i greu problemau i amddiffyn profiadol Port Talbot.
Bydd yna gyfle i gofio Ffion mewn tawelwch cyn y gêm

Back to back away wins in the space of four days could be enough to produce that heady feeling that comes with success, but the realisation that Port Talbot are the visitors on Saturday will bring Port down to earth with a bump. Saturday’s visitors have enjoyed an excellent season already winning a place in the Welsh Cup Final, in with a realistic chance of a third place finish and Europe still beckons for Mark Jones’s team.
Port will not need reminding that their performance in the corresponding game at Port Talbot was without doubt the worst even in a mediocre season. "When we went down there we were dreadful," Tomi told the Herald.
But looking ahead to Saturday he says, "We are not in the business of doing anyone any favours and I’ll be sending out my strongest team to try and win the game. There’s no pressure on us now.
Looking back on the season he comments "I’ve never known a season like it since I became a manager. Everything that could go wrong for us has gone wrong." But the team will be eager to reproduce their improved away form at the Traeth where they have only won two games all season. The new front partnership of Chris Jones, Cai Jones and Marcus Orlik over recent games has reduced the goal drought. They will need to be on top of their game to dent a capable experienced Port Talbot rearguard.
A silent tribute to Ffion will precede the game.

Cyngerdd Celt wedi ei ohirio / Celt concert is postponed

Mae cyngerdd Celt nos yfory yn Clwb y Traeth wedi ei ohirio. Cyfeillion Ysgol Eifion Wyn oedd yn trefnu’r noson. Maent yn gobeithio ei ad-drefnu at mis Mehefin.

The concert by the group Celt, to be held tomorrow evening at the Clubhouse, has been postponed. The concert had been organised by the Friends of Ysgol Eifion Wyn. They hope that the event will be re-arranged for July.

Tri wedi'u dewis i garfan Dan-18 yr Arfordir / Three selected for Coast U-18s

Llongyfarchiadau i Meilyr Rhys Elis, Dylan Williams a Cai Jones sydd wedi’u henwi yng ngharfan ymarfer tîm Dan-18 Arfordir y Gogledd ar gyfer y gêm yn erbyn Canolbarth Cymru. Y gêm hon i’w chwarae ar gae’r Oval Caernarfon ar 21 Ebrill gyda’r gic gyntaf am 7.30 pm.
Dywedodd Chris Morrell, rheolwr y garfan wrth gyhoeddi’r enwau, “Bydd y gêm yn gyfle i’ch chwaraewyr berfformio, ac yn bluen yn het eich clwb am y gwaith caled sydd yn cael ei wneud gyda chwaraewyr ifanc.” Bydd y chwaraewyr a ddewiswyd yn cymryd rhan mewn sesiwn ymarfer ysgafn ar gae Llanfairfechan am 6 o’r gloch ar 19 Ebrill.
Bydd Academi Port hefyd yn falch i weld tri aelod o’r tîm a enillodd Gwpan Academi Cymru yn dal i ddatblygu.

Port yn osgoi record annymunol / Port avoid an unwanted record

Neithiwr (13 Ebrill) llwyddodd Port osgoi’r record ddiflas o sgorio’r nifer lleiaf o goliau mewn tymor UGC. Tynnwyd sylw cefnogwyr at y posibilrwydd hwn gan Gerallt Owen yn ei golofn olygyddol ddiweddar yn y rhaglen. Ar hyn o bryd Caernarfon, gyda 21 o goliau, sydd â’r cyfanswm isaf. Cafodd Port drafferth sgorio drwy’r tymor ond mae’r gwelliant diweddar yn golygu fod gôl agoriadol Siôn Meredith yng Nghaersws yn dod a’r cyfanswm i 22 gôl ac aeth Marcus Orlik ymlaen wedyn i rwydo gôl rhif 23.

Last night (13 April) Port rid themselves of the possibility of an unwanted record. Gerallt Owen in his Match Programme Editor’s column reminded supporters that Port were in danger of creating a new record for the least number of goals scored in a WPL season –a record of 21 goals and currently Caernarfon hold that unenviable record. Port have found goals hard to come by all season but the recent upsurge meant that Siôn Meredith’s opening goal at Caersws brought the tally up to 22 goals and Marcus Orlik then went on to add another for good measure.

Tomi yn creu record / A record for Tomi

Tomi Morgan Chwaraeodd Tomi Morgan ei gem gyntaf i Port a fo yn 52 mlwydd a 7 mis oed sydd yn ei wneud y chwaraewr hynaf erioed yn UGC. Mae Tomi wedi enwi eu hun ar y fainc ambell dro y tymor hwn ac roedd ar y fainc yng Nghaersws eto neithiwr (13 Ebrill) ond yn Airbus daeth yr ymddangosiad cyntaf at ddiwedd y gêm ac mewn tîm buddugiolaethus! Honiad, Tomi sydd wedi chwarae yn UGC dros Aberystwyth, Llansanffraid, Caerfyrddin a’r Trallwng, yw ei fod wedi sgorio i bob un o’r clybiau yma. Mae dwy gêm yn weddill y tymor hwn iddo ychwanegu Port at y rhestr honno!

Tomi Morgan made his Porthmadog début at the age of 52 years 7 months which makes him the oldest player to appear in a WPL game. Tomi has named himself as substitute on a few occasions this season and he was on the bench again last night (13 April) at Caersws but his first appearance came in the 90th minute at Airbus when he appeared on the winning side! Tomi, whose previous WPL clubs are Aberystwyth, Llansantffraid, Carmarthen and Welshpool, claims to have scored a goal for every club for which he has played. There are still two games left this season to add Porthmadog to that list!

Marwolaeth Trasig Ffion / Ffion’s tragic death

Syfrdanwyd cefnogwyr Porthmadog, ynghyd â’r gymdeithas yn gyffredinol, gan y newyddion am farwolaeth Ffion Wyn Roberts mewn amgylchiadau trasig. Daeth y newyddion yn ystod y gêm yn Airbus a mynegodd Phil Jones, cadeirydd y clwb, a’r cefnogwyr a oedd wedi teithio i’r gêm, eu consyrn am deulu Ffion ac am golli bywyd mor ifanc. Mae Ffion yn adnabyddus iawn i gefnogwyr Port, fel y wyneb cyfeillgar yn y cantîn yn tywallt y banad ac yn gwerthu’r bwyd yn ystod gemau ar y Traeth. Roedd hefyd yn rhan o’r tîm sy’n paratoi bwyd i’r chwaraewyr ar ôl y gêm. Dymuna swyddogion, chwaraewyr a chefnogwyr fynegi eu cydymdeimlad llwyraf a mwyaf didwyll â’r teulu ar adeg mor anodd.

Followers of Porthmadog Football Club, like the wider community of the town, were shocked and stunned by the news of the tragic death of Ffion Wyn Roberts. News broke during the game against Airbus and Porthmadog supporters, lead by club chairman Phil Jones, expressed their deep concern for Ffion’s family at the loss of such a young life. Ffion is well known to Port supporters as the familiar and much loved face at the serving hatch at the Traeth Canteen serving tea and coffee and food during home matches. She was also part of the team who provided players with their after match meal. Club players, officials and supporters extend their deepest and most sincere sympathy with Ffion’s family at this extremely difficult time.

Marwolaeth un o sêr y gorffennol / Passing of a star of yesteryear

Estynnwn ein cydymdeimlad â theulu Wil Griffiths (Bilws) a fu farw yn Ysbyty Wycombe Swydd Buckingham ar ddydd Gwener 26 Mawrth 2010. Yn 82 oed. Ynghyd â’i frodyr Moss a Ieuan roedd yn aelod disglair o dîm enwog Porthmadog a enillodd Gwpan Amatur Cymru yn 1956 a 1957. Roedd Wil Griffiths yn flaenwr canol rhyngwladol amatur a gapiwyd gan Gymru. Daeth yn wreiddiol o Greigirgoch, Abersoch. Arhosodd yn frwdfrydig am chwaraeon, gan gynnwys golff, drwy gydol ei oes. Roedd ei gyd chwaraewyr, gynt, yn y tîm a enillodd y Cwpan Amatur wedi’u plesio pan deithiodd o Swydd Buckingham yn 2007 i fod yn yr aduniad 50 mlynedd ar ôl ennill y Gwpan gyda’r hen Gwpan Amatur ei hun yn cael ei harddangos.
Bydd y cynhebrwng ar ddydd Gwener, 23 Ebrill am 12.30 pm yn Amlosgfa Chiltern, (Capel Hampton) Amersham, Swydd Buckingham.

We extend our sympathy to the family of Will Griffiths (Bilws) who died in Wycombe Hospital, Buckinghamshire on Friday 26 March 2010 Aged 82. Golwg ymlaen at gem Caersws / Look ahead to the Caersws game

Caersws v PorthmadogBydd Port yn gobeithio dilyn y fuddugoliaeth ardderchog ar y Maes Awyr ddydd Sadwrn gyda perfformiad da arall yn erbyn Caersws nos Fawrth, gan ymestyn eu rhediad oddi cartref o ddwy fuddugoliaeth ac un gêm gyfartal. Er fod Caersws, fel Port, wedi cael tymor 2009/10 yn un ddigon anodd mae disgwyl i unrhyw dîm mae Mickey Evans yn rhoi ar y cae i frwydro, a dyna oedd eu hanes yn erbyn TNS ddydd Sadwrn. Cymrodd 73 munud i’r tîm ar ben y gynghrair i dorri amddiffyn Caersws a chael eu trwynau ar y blaen. Felly bydd y gêm hon yn brawf arall i Cai Jones, Marcus Orlik a Chris Jones. Yn erbyn Airbus edrychodd y tri yma y math o gyfuniad a allai ddod a’r newyn goliau mawr i ben. Roedd yn dda hefyd gweld y capten Ryan Davies yn ôl, gan rhyddhau Euron Roberts i chwarae unwaith eto yn safle’r cefnwr de a hyn yn gwneud i’r pedwar yn y cefn edrych yn fwy solat. Beth byddech chi’n rhoi i weld dwy gol cystal a’r ddwy yn erbyn Airbus? Aeth y ddwy yma a chyfanswm Chris Jones i fyny i wyth am y tymor.
Ewch i Coral i roi bet ar Caersws v Porthmadog.

Port will hope to follow up their excellent win at the Airfield on Saturday with another good performance at Caersws on Tuesday to extend their recent run of two wins and a draw on the road. Though, like Port, Caersws have found season 2009/10 a difficult one, any team put on the pitch by Mickey Evans will be expected to give a resolute performance as they showed against TNS on Saturday. It took the league leaders 73 minutes before they broke the Caersws resistance and finally get their noses in front. So this will be a challenge for Cai Jones, Marcus Orlik and Chris Jones. These three, against Airbus, looked the most likely combination to end the season long goal famine. It was good to see skipper Ryan Davies back, allowing Euron Roberts to revert to right back which as a result gave the back four a more solid look. What would you give for another couple of goals like those on Saturday? These two goals bring Chris Jones’s goal tally up to 8 for the season.

Gobeithion yn uchel i ennill Trwydded ar Apêl / Hopes of winning a Domestic Licence on appeal are high

Er mai methu sicrhau Trwydded Ddomestig ar yr ymgais gyntaf oedd hanes Porthmadog, cadarnhaodd y clwb prynhawn yma mai yr unig broblem oedd arwyddo Tystysgrif Diogelwch mater a cyfeiriwyd ato yn flaenorol. Roedd y Pwyllgor Ymgais Gyntaf yn cyfarfod yng Nghaerdydd heddiw a chadarnhawyd fod pob un o’r materion eraill yn cwrdd â’r criteria. Y gobaith yw y bydd y dystysgrif mewn lle erbyn y cyfarfod apêl ym mis Mai.
Dywedodd y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed na fydd ffi i’w dalu gan glybiau sydd angen mynd i apêl oherwydd y Dystysgrif Diogelwch yn unig. Dywedodd Gerallt Owen, ysgrifennydd y clwb, wrth glywed y dyfarniad, “Mae hyn yn cadarnhau ein hofnau gan fod Gwynedd a Fflint wedi gwrthod arwyddo’r dystysgrif ar gyfer clybiau UGC yn eu hardal a mae hyn yn siomedig. Cododd y broblem yn hwyr yn y dydd ond mae’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed wedi symud yn syth er mwyn ei goresgyn, a felly galluogi inni dderbyn drwydded ar apêl.
Mae Porthmadog wedi sicrhau Trwydded UEFA ar gyfer tymor 2010/11. Sylw Gerallt Owen oedd, “Mae hyn yn wych ac yn bluen yn ein het. Carwn longyfarch Angela Roberts, ein Swyddog Trwyddedu, am y gwaith mawr mae wedi gwneud. Heb ei ymroddiad hi byddem wedi cael yr holl broses yn anodd iawn.
Wyth clwb sydd wedi sicrhau Trwydded Ddomestig heddiw sef: Aberystwyth, Caerfyrddin, Hwlffordd, Llanelli, Castell Nedd, Y Drenewydd, Prestatyn, Y Seintiau Newydd.

Though Porthmadog FC has failed in its attempt to gain a Domestic Licence the club has confirmed that the only problem was the signing of the Safety Certificate a matter previously highlighted. The First Instance Body met in Cardiff today and confirmed that all other matters met the criteria. Hopefully a certificate will be in place by May when the appeal will be heard.
The FAW have indicated that no fee will be needed for an appeal based only on the Stadium Certificate criteria. Club Secretary, Gerallt Owen, said on hearing the outcome, “This is what we had feared would happen, Gwynedd and Flint have refused to sign Stadium Certificates for Welsh Premier League clubs in their catchment area which is disappointing. The problem arose very late in the process and the FAW have moved quickly to overcome the problem so that we can achieve the licence on appeal.”
Porthmadog FC however has obtained the UEFA Licence for the 2010/11 season. Gerallt Owen commented, “It is great news and a major feather in our cap. I would like to congratulate Angela Roberts our Licensing Officer on the tremendous work she has done on this, without her efforts we would have really struggled”.
Eight clubs were awarded Domestic Licences today they are Aberystwyth Town, Carmarthen Town, Haverfordwest County, Llanelli, Neath, Newtown, Prestatyn Town and The New Saints.

Rhagolwg: v Airbus / Preview: v Airbus

Mae Airbus wedi cael tymor da iawn gan gadw yn y 10 uchaf ar hyd y tymor. Ar hyn o bryd yn 10fed byddant wedi targedu’r gêm yn erbyn Port fel un a siawns dda am y tri phwynt. Dim ond unwaith mae Airbus wedi colli yn eu chwe gêm ddiwethaf ond byddant yn siomedig fod tair o’r gemau yma wedi gorffen yn gyfartal. Edrych yn ôl ar y gêm rhwng y ddau glwb ar y Traeth cofiwn i’r clwb o Sir Fflint sicrhau y fuddugoliaeth diolch i gôl gan Port i rhwyd eu hunain. Ond ar y diwrnod roedd amddiffyn Port o dan bwysau mawr wrth i’r cefnwyr Ryan Edwards a Gio Felicielo greu problemau wrth ymosod ar hyd yr esgyll. Ar eu ymweliad diwethaf â’r Maes Awyr cafodd Port fuddugoliaeth o 3-0 gyda Marc Lloyd Williams yn sgorio dwy o goliau Port!
I sicrhau canlyniad ddydd Sadwrn fydd rhaid i Port fod ar ben eu gêm yn torri allan y camgymeriadau a gollodd y gêm yn erbyn Caerfyrddin a hefyd cymryd y cyfleoedd sydd yn cael eu creu. Bydd rhaid gobeithio y gallant dal at y math o chwarae a gafwyd yn y gemau oddi cartref diweddar gan anghofio’r perfformiadau siomedig adref dros y Pasg. Y newyddion da ydy fod y capten Ryan Davies yn debygol o ddychwelyd am y tro cyntaf ers iddo frifo ei ysgwydd yn y gêm yn erbyn y Rhyl ar 20 Chwefror. Rheswm arall gobeithiol ydy’r ffordd mae’r chwaraewr ifanc Cai Jones wedi datblygu ers cael ei gyfle yn y tîm cyntaf. Da hefyd gweld fod Marcus Orlik yn dod yn ôl i ffitrwydd.

Airbus have had an excellent season maintaining a place in the Top Ten for most of the time. Currently they are placed 10th so they will have targeted the visit of Port as a potential three points. Their recent form shows only one defeat in the last six games but they will have been disappointed that three of these games have ended all square. Looking back to the game between the two clubs at the Traeth the Flintshire club claimed all three points but only on the back of an own goal. But on the day the Port defence had to withstand heavy pressure with most of the problems coming from wing backs Ryan Edwards and Gio Felicielio. On their last visit to the Airfield Port ran out 3-0 winners with Marc Lloyd Williams scoring twice for Port!
To get any kind of result on Saturday Port will need to be on top of their game cutting out the errors of the Carmarthen and taking a few of the chances they are creating. They will need to hope that they can forget the poor home results over Easter and get back to their more recent away form. The good news is that skipper Ryan Davies is set to return for the first time since he suffered a shoulder injury against Rhyl on February 20th. Other reasons for hope have been the way the young striker, Cai Jones, has progressed since being given a first team opportunity. There were also promising signs that Marcus Orlik is returning to full fitness.

Tîm Dan-12 yn cyrraedd rownd 8 olaf Cwpan yr Academi / U-12s reach Academy Cup Quarter Finals

Yr Academi / The Academy Gyda rhaglen yr Academi yn cyrraedd uchafbwynt mae yna newyddion da am y tîm Dan-12 sydd wedi cyrraedd rownd wyth olaf Cwpan yr Academi. Oddi cartref fydd hogiau Port yn y rownd honno, yn erbyn Cei Conna. Mae’r gêm i’w chwarae ddydd Sul nesaf, 11 Ebrill.
Mae gan y timau Dan-14 a Dan-16 dal obaith i fynd yn eu blaen ond torrwyd ar y gobeithion yma ddydd Sul diwethaf wrth i’r gemau yn y tri grwp oed gael eu gohirio pan fynnodd Rhyl fod y dair gêm yn cychwyn ar yr un amser â hynny’n golygu y byddai’n rhaid chwarae un o’r gemau ar y Traeth. Nid oedd hyn yn bosib am fod y Sêl Gist Car yn cymryd lle a hefyd Gweithdy Stiwardio yn cael eu gynnal yng Nghlwb y Traeth. Penderfynu peidio gyrru un o’r timau gwnaeth y Rhyl. Er gwaethaf hyn gobeithio gall y ddau dîm dal i fynd yn eu blaen.
Mae’r grwp Dan-11, a Mel Jones bellach yn ôl yn eu hyfforddi, wedi gorffen eu gemau am y tymor.

As the Academy programme reaches its climax there is good news with the U-12 team having already reached the quarter final of the Academy Cup. They will have an away fixture in that round at Connah’s Quay. The game is due to be played on next Sunday 11 April.
The U14s and U-16s also have an outside chance of qualifying but their progress was disrupted last Sunday as the scheduled games against Rhyl at all three age groups were called off due to Rhyl’s insistence that all three games must kick off at the same time with the U-16s game therefore being played on the Traeth. This was not possible with the Car Boot Sale taking place and a Stewarding Workshop being held in the Clubhouse but in the event Rhyl decided not to send any teams.Despite this hiccup let’s hope they can make progress over the next few weeks.,br> The U-11s, now with Mel Jones back in charge have completed their fixtures for the season.

Angela yn gweu ei ffordd drwy droeon y Drwydded Ddomestig / Angela negotiates the twists and turns of Domestic Licence Qualification

“Gall Porthmadog fod yn falch o’u hymdrech â’r gwaith sydd wedi mynd i sicrhau Trwydded Domestig, a hynny gyda ychydig iawn o arian, meddai Gerallt Owen, yn ysgrifennu yn y rhaglen.
“Angela Roberts sydd yn gyfrifol am llawer iawn o’r gwaith a mae wedi gwneud joban dda iawn nid yn unig gyda’r gwaith papur ond hefyd yn trefnu’r mesurau sydd angen i gyrraedd y lefel angenrheidiol.
“Ni osodwyd y stand heb broblemau (gwelwch y stori newyddion cynt). Wynebwyd llu o broblemau eraill hefyd. Wedyn ar y funud olaf roedd yna dro arall yn y gynffon. Mae Eitem 1.0 o’r Drwydded Domestig yn ymwneud â’r angen am dystysgrif i’r stadiwm, a hwnnw wedi’i arwyddo gan yr Awdurdod Lleol. Ar ôl derbyn cyngor cyfreithiol gwrthododd dwy sir, Gwynedd a Fflint, arwyddo.
“Oherwydd hyn mae’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed wedi rhoi’r gwaith i gwmni preifat. Ond ni fydd y cwmni wedi ymweld â’r clybiau cyn i’r panel, a fydd yn penderfynu ffawd y clybiau, gyfarfod ddydd Gwener. Felly mae’n debyg na fydd clybiau yn y ddwy sir yma yn cyrraedd y gofynion a bydd rhaid iddynt apelio i’r ail banel annibynnol a fydd yn cyfarfod ym mis Mai.”
Ysgrifennydd braidd yn ddiamynedd a ychwanegodd, “Gobeithio y byddwn erbyn y gêm nesaf ar y Traeth mewn sefyllfa i gadarnhau os ydym wedi sicrhau’r drwydded.”

“Porthmadog can be very proud of the effort and work that has gone into obtaining the Domestic Licence on very limited finance, writes Gerallt Owen in the Match Programme.
“Much of the work has been undertaken by Angela Roberts who has done an excellent job, not just with the paper work but also, organising all the necessary measures needed to reach the level required.
“Siting the stand proved far from plain sailing (see previous news item). At every turn the club has faced problems sorting things out. Now at the last minute another spanner has been thrown into the works. Item 1.0 in the Domestic Licence deals with the need for a stadium certificate signed by the Local Authority. Two Local authorities, Gwynedd and Flint, said they would not sign after receiving legal advice.
“The FAW have now asked a private company to do the work instead. However the company will not visit all the clubs before the First Instance Body meets on Friday. It seems likely that clubs in these two authorities will fail to achieve the Domestic Licence and will be forced to appeal to a second independent panel due to meet in May.”
A somewhat exasperated secretary finally adds “Let’s hope that by the next home game we will be in a position to confirm whether the licence has been achieved.”

Clybiau am ail-feddwl am y 12 Disglair? Are clubs about to force a Super 12 re-think?

UGC/WPL Yn ysgrifennu yn rhaglen y gêm yn erbyn Bangor ysgrifennodd Gerallt Owen, “Torrodd y newyddion yn y Daily Post ddydd Gwener fod nifer o glybiau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru yn ceisio gwyrdroi cynlluniau’r Deg Disglair ar gyfer y tymor nesaf. Mae sawl clwb wedi ysgrifennu at John Deakin, ysgrifennydd y gynghrair, yn gofyn am Gyfarfod Cyffredinol Arbennig i drafod y mater ymhellach. Ymysg y clybiau sydd wedi ysgrifennu i alw am gyfarfod mae clwb Porthmadog.” mwy....

Gerallt Owen, writing in the programme for the Bangor game said, “News broke in the Daily Post on Friday that a number of WPL clubs are attempting to force a U-turn on the Super-12 plans for next season. Some clubs have written to John Deakin asking for a Special General Meeting to discuss the matter further. Porthmadog is one of the clubs who have written requesting such a meeting.” Read more...

Porthmadog Juniors yn cipio Cwpan yr Arfordir / Porthmadog Juniors win North Wales Cup

Llongyfarchiadau i dîm Dan-12 clwb y Porthmadog Juniors am ennill Cwpan Dan-12 Arfordir y Gogledd. Cafodd y tîm y cyfle i arddangos Cwpan Elizabeth G. Furnival cyn y gêm UGC yn erbyn Caerfyrddin ddydd Sadwrn. Ynghynt yn y dydd roedden nhw wedi ennill y rownd derfynol gan guro Bae Penrhyn o 3-0. Llongyfarchiadau i bawb sy’n gysylltiedig â’r llwyddiant.

Congratulations to the Porthmadog Juniors FC Under12s who have won the North Wales Coast U-12 Cup. They paraded the Elizabeth G. Furnival Trophy at the Traeth on Saturday prior to the WPL game against Carmarthen Town. They had won the trophy earlier in the day defeating Penrhyn Bay Juniors by 3-0. Well done to all connected with the team.

Rhagolwg gemau’r Pasg / Preview of the Easter games

Dwy gêm anodd a hynny mewn 48 awr sydd yn wynebu Port dros y Pasg. Yr ymwelwyr ddydd Sadwrn fydd Caerfyrddin sydd yn chwilio am y pwyntiau er mwyn sicrhau lle yn y Deg Uchaf. Eu perfformiadau adref fu’n broblem i’r tîm o’r de-orllewin gyda 22 o’u 37 o bwyntiau yn dod mewn gemau oddi cartref. Wrth iddynt gyrraedd y Traeth mae’n siwr bydd geiriau eu rheolwr, Deryn Brace, yn dal i frifo eu clustiau. Ar ôl colli yn erbyn y Drenewydd dywedodd, “ Ar mynd dwy gôl ar ’i hol hi roeddwn yn ofni fod y gêm wedi’i cholli gan nad yw’n ymddangos fod gennym y cymeriad i frwydro’n ffordd allan o fag papur.” Sut fydd ei chwaraewyr yn ymateb cawn weld ddydd Sadwrn. Un peth sy’n sicr mae gan Caerfyrddin chwaraewyr â’r safon i roi prawf i’r goreuon.
Wedyn ddydd Llun Bangor fydd yr ymwelwyr, tîm sydd wedi bod ar rhediad ardderchog gan godi i’r 6ed safle yn y tabl yn ogystal a chyrraedd rownd cynderfynol Cwpan Cymru. Y tro diwethaf i’r ddau glwb gyfarfod cyfartal iawn oedd hi o rhan y chwarae cyffredinol ond dwy gôl gan Jamie Reed sicrhaodd tri phwynt i Fangor. Mae Reed wedi bod ar dân yn ddiweddar a fo ydy prif sgoriwr UGC gyda 20 gôl.
Cafodd Port wythnos dda yn casglu 4 pwynt o ddwy gêm oddi cartref a bydd hyn yn rhoi gobaith i’r chwaraewyr y gallant gwblhau y dwbl ar ôl ennill yn dda ar Barc Waundew. Os bydd Port yn cael canlyniad da ddydd Sadwrn fe allem cael brwydr ddiddorol ar Llun y Banc.

Port face two difficult games in 48 hours home at the Traeth over the Easter weekend. Saturday’s visitors are Carmarthen Town who are desperate for the points which will secure them a top ten finish. Home form has been their problem and 22 of their 37 points have been picked up on the road. When they arrive at the Traeth they will no doubt still have the scathing words of their manager Deryn Brace ringing in their ears. Following the defeat against Newtown, he said "I feared when we went two goals down early on, the game was up as my players don’t seem to have the character to fight their way out of a paper bag." How his players respond we will find out on Saturday. One thing is certain that the visitors have quality players who on their day can test the best.
On Monday Bangor are the visitors and they have been in an excellent run of form putting them in 6th spot in the table as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup. The last time the two clubs met it was a close contest, with Port matching their opponents for the whole of the 90 minutes but in the end went down to two goals by Jamie Reed. The former Wrexham player’s season has gone from strength to strength and he now heads the WPL scoring list with 20 goals.
Port enjoyed a good week picking up 4 points on the road and this will give them hope that they can complete the double over the team they beat convincingly at Richmond Park. While on Monday we have a local derby and should Port gain a good result on Saturday then we could be in for an interesting clash.

Port UDA yn cario’r enw gyda balchder / Port USA wear the name with pride

Bydd darllenwyr cyson o’r wefan yn cofio am stori newyddion a ymddangosodd yn Ionawr am dîm Dan-16 Port UDA sydd yn chwarae yng nghynghrair dan do ‘Soccer First’ yn Dublin, Ohio. Efallai y cofiwch hefyd fod y clwb o Hillard, Ohio wedi eu henwi ar ôl ein clwb ni ac yn gwisgo crysau sydd a logo CPD Porthmadog ar ei flaen. Ffurfiwyd y clwb gan Ellis Byrd sydd wedi cefnogi Port o hirbell ers blynyddoedd lawer.
Daeth newyddion ardderchog am y peldroedwyr ifanc sydd hefyd wedi dod yn gefnogwyr CPD Porthmadog o dan ddylanwad eu hyfforddwr.
Dyma a ddywedodd Ellis yn ei e-bost at y wefan, “Collodd Port UDA heddiw mewn gêm o dor calon a gorffen yn ail yn y gynghrair. Y tîm a’n curodd heddiw sydd wedi ennill y gynghrair. Rwy’n falch iawn o’r hogiau ac yn falch eu bod yn cefnogi CPD Porthmadog.
Rwy eisiau gwybod os ydy hi’n iawn inni ddal ati a defnyddio’r enw yn y gynghrair awyr agored?”
Mae’r ateb yn syml Ellis ewch ac enw Port ymlaen am y bencampwriaeth! Colli allan gwnaeth Port UDA yn erbyn y Mighty Ducks gan adael Lerpwl, Seldom Seen Rangers y Jaguars a’r Dynamos yn bell yn ôl. Piti na fyddai record Port Cymru cystal –blwyddyn nesaf efallai!

Regular readers of this website will recall a previous news story of the Under-16’s of Port USA who play in the Soccer First Indoor League in Dublin, Ohio. You may also recall that this club from Hillard, Ohio has been named after our club and their shirts are emblazoned with the logo of CPD Porthmadog. The club was formed by Ellis Byrd a long distance and long time backer of Porthmadog FC.
There is fantastic news of these young players who under their mentor have also become keen CPD Porthmadog supporters.
Ellis in his e-mail to the website says, “Port USA lost a heart breaker today to end the season in 2nd place. The team that beat us, won the league. I am proud of the boys and their support of your club.
I want to know if it’s OK to continue the use of the name for our outdoor season?” You bet Ellis and go on to the very top this time!
They were only pipped on the post in the final game of the season by the Mighty Ducks. Teams like Liverpool, Seldom Seen Rangers , Jaguars and Dynamo were left in their wake. Oh that Porthmadog Wales could emulate Port USA. Next season perhaps!

Wythnos archwilio’r caeau / Ground Inspection week

FAW Gyda’r dydd o brysur bwyso wedi cyrraedd bydd caeau 17 o glybiau’r UGC ac y rhai o’r is-gynghreiriau, gan gynnwys Llangefni ac Afan Lido, yn cael eu archwilio gan y swyddogion trwyddedu yn ystod yr wythnos hon.
Er gwaetha’r problemau yn deillio o’r oedi a fu wrth ddosbarthu’r grantiau yn ogystal a’r tywydd anffafriol a gafwyd, dywedodd Swyddog Trwyddedu’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed, Andrew Howard, “Rwy’n deall fod rhai clybiau wedi bod yn gweithio rownd y cloc, ac rwy’n edrych ymlaen i gael fy synnu wrth ymweld â’r clybiau yn ystod yr wythnos.”
Hefyd bydd rhaid cyflwyno’r ddogfennaeth drwyddedu erbyn ddydd Mercher (31 Mawrth) yr wythnos hon.
Bydd y pwyllgor sydd yn gwneud y penderfyniad yn cyfarfod ar ddydd Gwener, 9 Ebrill gan asesu nid yn unig y caeau ond hefyd datblygiad ieuenctid, personél, gweinyddiaeth, cyfreithiol ariannol a siarteri’r clwb.
Bydd gan glybiau, sydd yn methu sicrhau trwydded ar ddiwedd y broses hon, yr hawl i apelio at banel annibynnol a fydd yn cyfarfod ar 17 Mai.
Sylw Phil Jones, cadeirydd Port am y broses oedd, “Yn nhermau pwyntiau nid yw’n bosib i ni gasglu digon i gyrraedd y 10 neu’r 12 uchaf, felly ein unig obaith o aros yn y gynghrair genedlaethol ydy drwy sicrhau y drwydded hollbwysig, a gobeithio na fydd digon o’r prif glybiau eraill yn gwneud.”

As D-day approaches on Club Licensing all the current WPL clubs, apart from Welshpool, will this week receive ground inspection visits from the licensing officers, as will feeder league applicants, including Llangefni and Afan Lido who are still very much in the promotion race.
Despite the difficulties due to the delay in grant allocation together with the bad weather, Andrew Howard, the FAW licensing officer, said “It is my understanding that some clubs have been working around the clock and I hope to be pleasantly surprised when visiting the clubs this week. "
Essential licensing documentation has to be submitted by Wednesday (March 31st) of this week.
The licensing first instance committee will meet on Friday April 9th assessing not only stadiums, but also the youth development, personnel, administration, legal, finances and club charters.
Clubs who fail to achieve the licence at the end of this process will have the right of appeal which will be heard by an independent committee meeting on May 17th.
Port chairman, Phil Jones commented, “In terms of league points we are not going to get enough points to make the top 10 or 12 and so our only chance of staying in the national league is to secure the qualifying licence and hope that not enough other senior clubs make it.”

Stand newydd yn cyrraedd y Traeth / New Stand arrives at the Traeth

Yn ystod y bore (ddydd Gwener) bu prysurdeb mawr ar y Traeth gyda’r eisteddle newydd, gan Arena Seating, yn cyrraedd gyda lle i 50 o gefnogwyr. Ond yn ôl yr arfer, gyda CPD Porthmadog, ni chwblhawyd y gwaith heb drafferthion! Yn dilyn y glaw trwm dros nos roedd y tir o gwmpas y cae yn wlyb a llithrig ac aeth y lori a’r stand ar ei chefn yn sownd! Ond ar ôl galwad ffôn sydyn at gwmni y Brodyr Jones, sydd yn adeiladu’r ffordd osgoi newydd ac wedi bod a storfa offer ar y Traeth ers tua 7 wythnos, sicrhawyd fod yr eisteddle yn ddiogel yn ei le. Diolch i bawb am eu gwaith.

This morning (Friday) Porthmadog received delivery of their new 50 seater Quarry End stand supplied by Arena Seating. But as usual with Porthmadog FC things didn’t quite go according to plan! Heavy overnight rain made the area around the ground wet and slippery and the lorry delivering the stand got stuck! But a quick phone call to new by-pass construction company Jones Brothers, who have had a compound at the ground for 7 weeks ensured that the stand was fitted safely. Thanks to all concerned for their work.

Ystyried apelio am y Cwpan Ieuenctid / FAW Youth Cup reinstatement appeal considered

Mae CPD Porthmadog yn edrych o ddifri i apelio penderfyniad Pwyllgor Domestig y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed i wrthod ail gynnwys Porthmadog yng Nghwpan Ieuenctid Cymru. Mae hyn yn dilyn penderfyniad y Gymdeithas i ddiarddel Abertawe am ddefnyddio chwaraewr anghymwys. Pwysleisiodd clwb Port nad ydynt am pwyntio bys at neb am y sefyllfa ond fod llawer o unigolion a chlybiau ym mhêl-droed Cymru yn teimlo y dylent fynd ymlaen â’r apêl.
Yn dilyn cyfarfod o Fwrdd y Clwb nos Fercher dywedodd Gerallt Owen ar ran CPD Porthmadog, “Teimlwn fod penderfyniad y Pwyllgor Domestig yn un anghywir a hynny efallai am nad oeddynt yn ymwybodol o’r holl ffeithiau am y digwyddiad ac felly rym yn paratoi i apelio. Ond mae apêl yn costio £524 + TAW a gyda arian yn brin oherwydd y gwariant ynglyn â’r Drwydded Domestig rym yn cymryd ein hamser i sicrhau ein bod yn medru fforddio symud ymlaen. Mae gennym tan 13 Ebrill i wneud yr apêl felly mae gennym ychydig o amser er mwyn ystyried ymhellach. Rym wedi siarad â nifer o glybiau ac unigolion amlwg ym mhêl-droed Cymru ac maent i gyd wedi ein hannog i apelio.”
Ychwanegodd Gerallt, “Nid gweld bai ar neb ydy hyn ond mae’r hyn sydd wedi digwydd yn annheg ar Borthmadog ac Llandudno yn unig sydd ar eu hennill yn cyrraedd y rownd derfynol heb orfod guro neb mewn rownd cynderfynol.”
Felly bydd rhaid aros am y datblygiad nesaf.

Porthmadog Football Club are actively looking into appealing the decision of the FAW Domestic Committee into not reinstating Porthmadog into the Welsh Youth Cup. This follows the FAW decision to expel Swansea City for fielding an ineligible player. The club have stressed that they are not looking to blame anyone for the situation but that many in Welsh football, both clubs an individuals, feel that they should go ahead and appeal.
Following a Board Meeting on Wednesday Gerallt Owen, on behalf of Porthmadog FC, said, “We feel that the decision of the Domestic Committee was incorrect, it may be that they were not aware of the full facts surrounding the circumstances and therefore we are planning to make an appeal. However an appeal will cost £524 + VAT and with money tight due to substantial expenditure surrounding the Domestic Licence we are taking our time and making sure we can afford it before moving ahead. We have until April 13th to submit an appeal so we have a little time to consider it. We have spoken to numerous clubs and individuals within Welsh football and all have urged us to appeal”
Owen added “We are not blaming anyone for this but we feel that what has happened is unfair on Porthmadog and the only winners are Llandudno who have done nothing to deserve getting into the final without actually beating anyone in a semi-final.”
So watch this space the website will keep you informed.

Rhagolwg: v Prestatyn / Preview: v Prestatyn

Prestatyn v PorthmadogBydd Port yn teithio i Brestatyn ddydd Sadwrn mewn hwyliau tipyn gwell ar ôl curo’r Drenewydd ac ar ôl hat tric wych Chris Jones. Daeth y 5 gôl mewn dwy gêm yn dipyn o sioc i gefnogwyr ond yn rhoi hwb i’r ysbryd pan fod hefyd yn rhoi’r canlyniad iawn. Bydd yr hogiau yn cael hwb pellach o’r ffaith iddynt guro Prestatyn ar y Traeth ac, er iddynt golli i gôl hwyr ar Erddi Bastion yng Nghwpan Cymru, ni fyddant yn anghofio chwaith mae nhw, gyda tîm gwan, cafodd y gorau o’r gêm honno hefyd.
Yn ddiweddar maent wedi llithro rhyw ychydig ac heb ennill un o’u chwe gêm ddiwethaf – 5 o gemau cyfartal a cholli ddydd Sadwrn yn erbyn y Drenewydd. Yn amlwg maent yn dal yn dîm anodd i’w curo ac adref dim ond dwy gêm a gollwyd allan o 13.
Y newyddion am anafiadau ydy fod Andy Evans a Ryan Davies yn dal allan ac fydd Arron Stokoe ac Aden Shannon yn cael prawf hwyr tra fod y newyddion yn well am Marcus Orlik a allai gael ei ystyried at ddydd Sadwrn.
Ewch i Coral i roi bet ar Prestatyn v Porthmadog.

Port travel to Prestatyn on Saturday, buoyed by the victory at Latham Park and the Chris Jones hat-trick. Five goals in the two most recent games have been something of a luxury for supporters and give a distinct lift to the spirits when they also produce the right result. The lads also will take some comfort from the fact that they have already beaten Prestatyn at the Traeth and though going down, to a late goal, at Bastion Gardens in the Welsh Cup they will know, that even with a weakened, team they more than matched their opponents over the 90 minutes.
The fact that Prestatyn have enjoyed a really good season will not however be lost on Porthmadog for having collected 40 points -23 more than Port- the coast club are in with a very good chance of making the top 10. They have had a bit of a slump recently failing to win any of their last six games drawing five and losing their most recent game at Newtown. Clearly however they are a hard team to beat and on their own ground they have been beaten only twice in 13 league games.
On the injury front Andy Evans and Ryan Davies are still out while Arron Stokoe and Aden Shannon will have late tests and the good news is that Marcus Orlik could be back in the frame.

Cyngor yn cefnogi’r clwb / Council support for Club

Cyngor Tref Porthmadog Town Council Mae CPD Porthmadog wedi derbyn cefnogaeth ariannol gan Gyngor Tref Porthmadog wrth i’r corff hwnnw ddosbarthu eu rhoddion ariannol blynyddol i fudiadau a chyrff lleol. Dros nifer o flynyddoedd mae’r clwb wedi derbyn cefnogaeth y Cyngor ac yn y cylch diweddaraf derbyniodd y clwb swm o £1,500. Dymunai’r clwb ddiolch i’r Cyngor Tref am eu cefnogaeth eleni eto.

We would like to thank the Town Council for its continuing support for the club.

Hat tric i Chris yn y Drenewydd / Chris is the hat-trick hero

Chris Jones Diolch i hat tric ardderchog Chris Jones sicrhaodd Port eu 4ydd buddugoliaeth o’r tymor yn y Drenewydd. Yn erbyn y Trallwng ddydd Sadwrn sgoriodd Chris ei gôl gynghrair gyntaf o’r tymor! Ond mae’r dair a gafodd ar Barc Latham wedi’i roi ar ben rhestr sgorio Port am y tymor sydd yn dweud llawer am y diffyg goliau yn ystod y tymor hwn! Sgoriodd hefyd yn erbyn Penrhyncoch yng Nghwpan Cymru ac yng Nghaersws yng Nghwpan y Gynghrair i roi cyfanswm o 6 gôl iddo am y tymor hyd yma. Dyma’r ail tro i Chris sgorio hat tric dros Port. Sgoriodd y chwaraewr, sydd yn ei ail dymor ar y Traeth, dair gwaith yn erbyn Aberystwyth yn ngêm olaf 2008/09 a’r tro yna hefyd cwblhaodd ei hat tric gyda chic o’r smotyn.
Mae sgorio 5 gôl yn y ddwy gêm ddiwethaf wedi chwyddo rhywfaint ar y 12 gôl dila a sgoriwyd yn y 25 gêm gynghrair flaenorol. Bydd hyn yn cynyddu’r gobaith o osgoi dal y record am y cyfanswm lleiaf o goliau erioed yn UGC. Cyfeiriwyd at hyn gan Gerallt yn ei nodiadau yn y rhaglen mai Caernarfon sydd yn dal y record ar hyn o bryd am eu 21 gôl yn 1999/2000. Amdani hogiau bydd angen sgorio o leiaf 5 gôl yn y 7 gêm sy’n weddill.

Chris Jones’s super hat trick helped to give Port their 4th win of the season at Newtown. His goal against Welshpool on Saturday was his first league goal of the season! But now his Latham Park hat trick has made him Port’s current leading scorer for the season which says much about the lack of goals this season! He also scored the winner against Penrhyncoch in the Welsh Cup and another in the League Cup tie at Caersws which gives him a total of 6 for the season so far. This was Chris’s second Port hat trick. The player, who is in his second season at the Traeth, also scored three times in the 4-1 win over Aberystwyth in the last game of the 2008/09 season. On that occasion he also completed his hat trick with a penalty kick.
Scoring 5 goals in two games has gone some way to improve Port’s previous return of 12 goals in 25 games. This also increases the chances of avoiding the ignominy of holding the record for the least number of goals scored in a Welsh Premier season. Gerallt, in his programme notes, points out that Caernarfon currently hold that record for their 21 goals in season 1999/2000. Go for it lads you need a minimum of 5 goals in the remaining 7 games.

Cychwyn da i Ceri yn Seland Newydd / Ceri makes a good start in New Zealand

Ceri James, CPD Porthmadog FCMae Ceri James, cyn chwaraewr canol cae Port, a adawodd y clwb ynghynt yn y tymor i deithio yn Seland Newydd, wedi ymuno â Melville United clwb sydd yn chwarae yng Nghynghrair y Gogledd. Chwaraeodd Ceri 14 (+7) o gemau dros Port yn ystod y tymor hwn gan sgorio unwaith yn y fuddugoliaeth dros Caerfyrddin a chreu enw iddo’i hun fel cysylltydd yng nghanol cae â llygad hefyd am y bas i rhwygo amddiffyn. Bu’n golled mawr i ganol cae Port ar ôl iddo adael.
Clwb Melville ydy pencampwyr presennol Cynghrair y Gogledd ac yng ngêm cyntaf tymor pêl-droed Seland Newydd gwnaeth Ceri ei ymddangosiad cyntaf iddynt yn erbyn Glenfield Rovers. Mae’r Waikato Times yn adrodd am y gêm:
“Curodd Melville glwb Glenfield Rovers, yn haeddiannol o 3-2, ar Barc Gower yn Hamilton, yn eu gêm Uwch Gynghrair. Aethant ar y blaen o 3-0 erbyn ychydig ar ôl yr egwyl a gallent fod wedi bod ym mhellach ar y blaen.
"Ar gae caled anwastad chwaraeodd Melville bêl-droed a oedd yn llifo’n gyflym ar y cychwyn, gan rhwydo ddwywaith o fewn 3 munud.”
Mae’n rhaid fod Ceri wedi creu argraff yn ei gêm gyntaf gan i’r adroddiad fynd yn ei flaen i ddweud:
“Ceri James, y chwaraewr o Gymru, greodd yr ail gyda phêl gywir ar draws y cae at Smith a gyrhaeddodd y bêl o flaen y golwr Robert Read a’i phenio i’r rhwyd wag.”
Gellir ddarllen ar wefan welsh-premier.com, erthygl o’r Waikato Times a ysgrifennwyd cyn y gêm yn erbyn Glenfield Rovers.

Ceri James the former Port midfielder, who left the club earlier in the season to travel in New Zealand, has joined Northern League club Melville United. Ceri played14 (+7) games for Port this season, scoring once in the victory over Carmarthen Town, and establishing a reputation for himself as an excellent linkman in midfield with an eye for a defence splitting pass. His presence has been sorely missed in the Port midfield.
Melville are the reigning champions of the Northern League and Ceri made his debut for them in the first game of the New Zealand season against Glenfield Rovers. The Waikato Times reports:
“The hosts saw off Glenfield Rovers 3-2 at Hamilton's Gower Park on Saturday in their Premier League clash and were good value for the victory. They romped out to a 3-0 lead shortly after halftime and could have been further ahead.
"On a rock-hard, bumpy pitch, Melville played some sharp flowing football in the early stages and netted twice within three minutes.”
Ceri must have made an impact on his debut as the report continues:
“Welsh import Ceri James set up the second with an accurate cross-field ball that Smith nipped in to head past Glenfield keeper Rob Read and push into the empty net.”
You can read a pre-match feature on Ceri from the Waikato Times on the welsh-premier.com website in their features section.

Rhagolwg: v Y Drenewydd / Preview: v Newtown

Drenewydd / NewtownWedi i’r cefnogwyr ddilyn y clwb mewn niferoedd reit barchus i Aberystwyth ac eto ar y daith o anobaith i Groesoswallt, roedd gweld eu tîm yn gadael buddugoliaeth i ddiflannu i’r pedwar gwynt yn erbyn y Trallwng yn ddigon i’w digalonni’n llwyr. Pan sgoriwyd ail gôl Port roedd hawl gan y cefnogwyr i edrych ymlaen at fuddugoliaeth gyfforddus ond yn lle hyn bu’n rhaid iddynt edrych ar gêm yn cael ei thaflu i ffwrdd. Mae’n demtasiwn i fynd ar rant go-iawn ond gwell fyddai edrych am y lygedyn o oleuni -ac oedd, roedd yna un. Sgoriodd Cai Jones ei gôl Uwch Gynghrair gyntaf, a gôl dda oedd hi hefyd, gan ddangos rheolaeth dda, cryfder i ddal y bêl ac amynedd i gael ei hun mewn sefyllfa i anelu am y gôl a wedyn taro’r bêl yn berffaith modfeddi tu fewn i’r postyn. Mae gweld chwaraewr ifanc yn lwyddo yn cynnig llawer o obaith at y dyfodol.
Mae gan ein gwrthwynebwyr nos Fawrth record dda ddiweddar gan gael eu hun mewn sefyllfa i gynnig am y 12 uchaf. Yn ddigon eironig, hefyd, mae Paul Roberts, a gollodd y ffordd i’r gôl tra ar y Traeth, wedi ail ddarganfod y ddawn i sgorio ar Barc Latham. Ar ôl siom ddydd Sadwrn bydd angen mwy o ysbryd nos Fawrth, gan nad yw gadael y tymor i lithro’n ddiamcan yn opsiwn derbyniol -does dim wedi setlo tan i’r trwyddedu gael eu dosbarthu.

After following their club in more than respectable numbers to Aberystwyth and then again on mission impossible to Oswestry, seeing their club throw away a winning position at home against fellow strugglers Welshpool left supporters in a state of total bewilderment. When the second goal went in on Saturday supporters could be forgiven for expecting a comfortable victory but instead they witnessed a capitulation. It is a temptation to go on a rant but it would be better to look for the silver lining –and there was one. Cai Jones scored his first WPL goal and what a fine goal it was, showing good control and strength followed by the patience to work himself into a shooting position before striking superbly just inside the post. There is every reason for expecting many more and Cai is definitely a striker who gives much hope for the future.
Our opponents on Tuesday have an excellent recent record giving themselves a chance of reaching the Top 12. Ironically Paul Roberts, whose goal touch had deserted him at the Traeth, has rediscovered it at Latham Park. After Saturday’s debacle let’s hope for far more spirit as allowing the season to slip into a ‘going through the motions exercise,’ should not be an option -nothing is for certain until the licences are handed out.

Cam gwag arall gan y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed / Another FAW travesty

FAWMae Abertawe wedi’u diarddel o Gwpan Ieuenctid Cymru am gynnwys chwaraewr anghymwys yn erbyn Porthmadog yn Rownd 4 y gystadleuaeth. Yn ôl gwefan yr FAW “Mae gan y clwb (Abertawe) yr hawl i apelio. Cyfnod yr apêl ydy 28 niwrnod o 17 Mawrth 2010.”
Yn arferol gallai'r clwb gafodd eu curo, yn y math yma o amgylchiadau, ddisgwyl cael eu hail gynnwys yn y gystadleuaeth yn lle’r clwb sy’n cael eu diarddel. Nid hyn fydd yn digwydd: bydd Llandudno, y clwb arall sydd yn y rownd cynderfynol, yn mynd i’r rownd derfynol yn ddiwrthwynebiad. Bydd cefnogwyr yn ymwybodol o’r fuddugoliaeth a gafodd hogiau Port dros Llandudno yn rownd cynderfynol Cwpan Ieuenctid Arfordir y Gogledd.
Wrth ysgrifennu am y mater yn y Rhaglen (20 Mawrth) dywedodd Gerallt Owen, ysgrifennydd y clwb, “Roedd yn syndod i glywed yn ystod yr wythnos fod Abertawe wedi’u diarddel o Gwpan Ieuenctid Cymru am gynnwys chwaraewr anghymwys yn ein herbyn mewn gêm yn rownd y chwarteri. Yn fwy o syndod ydy na fyddwn yn cael ein hail gynnwys yn y gystadleuaeth yn eu lle am nad oedd ein protest wedi’i chwblhau yn gywir - a’r rheswm am hynny oedd fod Andrew Howard, yr Ysgrifennydd Cystadlaethau, wedi dweud mewn e-bost (a dyma’r dyfyniad), “Nid yw Abertawe wedi torri unrhyw un o rheolau’r gystadleuaeth.” Gyda’r fath gyngor pendant nid oedd nid oedd pwrpas i brotestio ond ar ôl dilyn y cyngor mae hyn yn dod yn ôl i’n brifo. Cam gwag arall gan y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed.
Dywed rheol 23 y gystadleuaeth: "Yn achos unrhyw chwaraewr a gaiff ei ganfod yn anghymwys, bydd rhaid i'r clwb a'i chwaraeodd gael eu barnu i fod wedi colli'r gêm".

Swansea City, have been eliminated from the FAW Youth Cup competition for fielding an ineligible player against Porthmadog in Round 4. According to the FAW website “The club (Swansea) has the right to appeal. The appeal period is 28 days from March 17th 2010.”
In such circumstances the defeated club could usually expect to be reinstated to the competition in place of the eliminated club. This will not happen and the other semi-finalists, Llandudno Town, are to be given a walk-over into the FAW Youth Cup Final. Ironically Porthmadog defeated Llandudno last Sunday in the North Wales Coast Youth Cup.
Writing about the matter in the Match Programme (20 March) club secretary Gerallt Owen writes, “I was astonished to hear in the week that Swansea City have been expelled from the Welsh Youth Cup for fielding an ineligible player against us in the recent quarter final. Even more extraordinary is that we will not be reinstated into the competition in their place, apparently because the protest was not entered correctly, the reason for that is that the Competitions Secretary, Andrew Howard, told me in an e-mail –and I quote- “Swansea City have not breached any rules of the Competition.” With such unequivocal advice there was no point in presenting a protest, however having followed his advice this now comes back to hurt us. Another travesty of a decision by the FAW.”
The competition's rule 23 states: "In the case of any player being found ineligible, the Club playing him must be adjudged to have lost the match."

Golwg ymlaen at ymweliad Trallwng / A look ahead to the visit of Welshpool

Trallwng / Welshpool Bydd Port yn croesawu’r Trallwng i’r Traeth ddydd Sadwrn. Ar y cae mae’r ddau glwb wedi cael y tymor yn un anodd. Oddi ar y cae hefyd mae’r Trallwng wedi cael trafferthion gan benderfynu peidio mynd am y Drwydded Domestig ac felly, ers yn gynnar yn y tymor, yn gwybod na fyddent yn rhan o’r Gynghrair newydd y tymor nesaf. Er hyn i gyd mae Huw Griffiths i’w edmygu am ddal ati fel rheolwr, er iddo weld nifer o chwaraewyr allweddol yn gadael y clwb yn ystod ffenestr drosglwyddo mis Ionawr.
Y tro diwethaf i’r ddau glwb gyfarfod y Trallwng oedd yn fuddugol a hynny yn weddol gyfforddus, diolch i berfformiad da iawn gan Peter Doran un o’r chwaraewyr allweddol hynny a adawodd y clwb. Mae’r clwb o’r canolbarth heb ennill gêm ers ddiwedd mis Tachwedd. Dros y tymor hwn mae record y ddau glwb yn union yr un fath gyda 3 buddugoliaeth yr un, 5 yn gyfartal a cholli 17 o gemau. Gwahaniaeth goliau yn unig sydd. yn rhannu’r ddau gyda’r Trallwng fymryn yn well. Tebygrwydd arall ydy’r ffaith fod y ddau glwb wedi colli o 5 gôl y tro diwethaf iddynt chwarae – Port yng Nghroesoswallt a’r Trallwng adref i’r Drenewydd. Felly gêm i geisio agor bwlch o 3 phwynt ydy hi ddydd Sadwrn a gyda Tomi yn wynebu ei gyn glwb -lle gafodd dipyn o lwyddiant- cyfle i sicrhau ychydig o hunan barch.

Port entertain Welshpool on Saturday at the Traeth. Both clubs have found the season a struggle on the field. Welshpool have also struggled off the pitch deciding not to seek the Welsh FA’s Domestic Licence and therefore from early in the season they knew that they would not be competing for a place in next season’s revamped WPL. Despite all this, Hugh Griffiths has stuck to his task as manager and is to be admired for this as he has seen several key players leave the club during the January transfer window.
The last time the two clubs met Welshpool ran out comfortable 2-0 winners thanks to a match winning performance by Peter Doran, one of the key players who has left the club. Welshpool are without a league win since late November. This season Port and Welshpool have identical league playing records with each club managing 3 wins and 5 draws while losing 17 games each. They are separated by Welshpool’s marginally better goal difference. Another similarity is that both sides in their most recent outing have conceded 5 goals – Port away at Oswestry and Welshpool at home to Newtown. So on Saturday it is a matter of both clubs trying to open a 3 point gap on each other. Pride will also be at stake as Tomi faces his old club, a club where he enjoyed considerable success.

Sêl Cist car i gychwyn ar 28 Mawrth / Car Boot Sales to start on 28 March

Sel cist car / Car boot sale Bydd y Sêl Cist Car gyntaf o’r tymor yn cael eu chynnal ar y Traeth ar fore Sul, 28 Mawrth. Er fod maes parcio’r clwb yn cael eu ddefnyddio yn rhannol gan gontractwyr y ffordd osgoi bydd y Sêl arferol yn mynd yn eu blaen wythnos i’r Sul. Mae yna groeso fwtwyr hen a newydd.
Disgwylir i’r gwaith ar y ffordd newydd o gwmpas y Traeth gychwyn ym mis Gorffennaf a felly bydd y tymor Sêl Cist Car yn fyrrach nag arfer.

The first Car Boot sale of the new season will go ahead on Sunday, 28 March at the Traeth. Despite the fact that the Porthmadog FC car park at the Traeth is currently being partially used by the by-pass contractors the usual Car Boot Sale will take place a week on Sunday. Booters old and new are very welcome.
Work on the new road around the Traeth is scheduled to start in July so it could mean a shorter booting season than in previous years.

Mwy o newyddion da o’r Academi / More good news from the Academy

Mae’r Academi yn dal i roi dipyn go lew o newyddion da i’r clwb a ni fu’r penwythnos diwethaf yn eithriad i hyn gyda bob un o’r tri grwp oed yn sicrhau buddugoliaethau yn y Drenewydd dros y Sul (14 Mawrth). Enillodd y tîm Dan-12 o 9-2 sef ei 4ydd buddugoliaeth yn olynol ers troad y flwyddyn. Cafodd y tîm Dan-14 hefyd fuddugoliaeth swmpus o 10-0 –eu 3ydd buddugoliaeth mewn pedair gêm ers dechrau 2010. I gwblhau’r set o dair sicrhaodd y tîm Dan-16 hefyd fuddugoliaeth o 2-0 –eu trydydd buddugoliaeth yn olynol.
(Bydd manylion llawn o’r gemau yn ymddangos ar dudalen yr Academi).

The Academy continues to provide the club with good news stories and this weekend proved no exception. All three age groups recorded wins at Newtown on Sunday (14 March). The U-12s won their game 9-2 which is their 4th straight victory since the turn of the year. The U-14s also gained a convincing 10-0 win over their age group opponents making it three wins out of four since the beginning of 2010. The U-16’s gained their third successive victory and completed the set with a 2-0 win.
(Full details of these games will appear on the Academy page shortly).

Dan-19 drwodd i’r rownd derfynol / U-19s through to final

Jack Jones Cafodd y tîm Dan-19 bnawn llwyddiannus arall ddoe (15 Mawrth) yn curo Llandudno o 2-1 ar y Traeth yn rownd gynderfynol Cwpan Ieuenctid Arfordir y Gogledd. Mewn gêm dda gystadleuol aeth Port ar y blaen ar ôl dwy funud yn unig diolch i gôl gan Cai Jones. Tarodd Llandudno yn ôl 5 munud cyn yr egwyl i ddod â’r sgôr yn gyfartal. Jack Jones sgoriodd ail gôl Port chwe munud i fewn i’r ail hanner gyda ergyd o 20 llath. Cafodd y ddau dîm gyfleoedd wedyn ond ni ychwanegwyd at y sgôr. 10 munud o’r diwedd daeth Llandudno yn agos pan drawyd y trawst a phan adlamodd y bêl yn ôl i chwaraewr Llandudno arbedodd Meilir Ellis , golwr Port, yn dda iawn. Buddugoliaeth dda iawn i Port felly yn erbyn tîm sydd wedi sicrhau lle yn rownd gynderfynol Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru.
Yn rownd derfynol Cwpan ieuenctid y Gogledd, Prestatyn fydd gwrthwynebwyr Port.

The U-19s continued their successful season with a 2-1 win over Llandudno in the semi-final of the North Wales Coast Youth Cup at the Traeth yesterday (15 March) in what proved to be a good entertaining game. Cai Jones put Port ahead in only the 2nd minute but Llandudno drew level 5 minutes before half-time. Port’s winner came in the 51st minute thanks to a Jack Jones shot from 20 yards. Though both sides had further chances there was no further scoring. A Llandudno effort however struck the cross bar with only 10 minutes left and Port keeper Meilir Ellis saved well when the ball bounced back into play.
This was a good win against a team which has reached the semi-final of the Welsh FA Youth Cup.In the final of the North Wales Youth Cup Port will play Prestatyn.

Rhagolwg: v TNS / Preview: v TNS

TNS Nos yfory (16 Mawrth) bydd Port yn wynebu TNS sydd yn gyfartal ar bwyntiau gyda Llanelli ar ben tabl UGC. Mae’n dasg enfawr i glwb sydd heb ganfod y rhwyd yn eu 4 gêm ddiwethaf, ac heb lwyddo i sgorio mewn 16 gem gynghrair y tymor hwn. Mae’r clwb o Groesoswallt heb ar y llaw arall heb golli gêm gynghrair ar gae Neuadd y Parc y tymor hwn ac adref dim ond 4 gôl a sgoriwyd yn eu herbyn tra’n canfod y rhwyd 37 o weithiau. A nhw yng nghanol y frwydr am y pencampwriaeth, ni fyddant am golli pwyntiau ac ail adrodd y gêm gyfartal ar y Traeth. Mae’r llygedyn bach o obaith sydd gan Port yn dod o geisio brwydro fel y gwnaethant i sicrhau’r gêm gyfartal honno, a hefyd mewn perfformiad di-ildio a gafwyd, yn erbyn Aberystwyth y clwb sy’n 3ydd yn y tabl, nos Wener pan fu ond y dim i adfywiad ail hanner ddod a pwynt haeddiannol iddynt. O am gôl unrhyw fath o gôl o’r ben glin neu’r ysgwydd neu wedi taro amddiffynnwr, rhywbeth dim ond iddi gyfri fel gôl!

Tomorrow night (16 March) Port take on a TNS team who stand level on points with Llanelli at the top of the WPL table. It could hardly be a more daunting task for a club who have failed to score in the last four games and in 16 league games overall. The Oswestry club are unbeaten in the league, at their Parkhall ground, conceding only 4 home goals while netting a total of 37 goals at home. Now engaged in the vital run-in for the title they will be in no mood to surrender points as they did in the drawn game at the Traeth. Port’s glimmer of hope lies in repeating the kind of battling performance which brought them a share of the spoils at the Traeth and in the stubborn performance which they gave at Park Avenue against 3rd placed Aberystwyth on Friday, when a second half revival almost gave them a point. But what would we give for a goal any kind of goal -knee, shoulder, deflection or even an own goal!

Rownd cynderfynol Dan-19 ddydd Sul / U-19 semi-final on Sunday

Bydd Port yn chwarae Llandudno yn rownd cynderfynol Cwpan Ieuenctid Gogledd Cymru ar y Traeth pnawn Sul, gyda’r gic gyntaf am 2 pm. Mae’r tîm ieuenctid yn cael tymor da ac wedi cyrraedd 4ydd Rownd Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru cyn colli o 2-0 yn erbyn Abertawe mewn gêm gystadleuol.
Bydd Llandudno yn wrthwynebwyr anodd ac wedi cyrraedd rownd cynderfynol Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru ar ôl curo YMCA Casnewydd o 3-1. Yn y gêm cynderfynol honno bydd Llandudno hefyd yn gorfod wynebu Abertawe.

The North Wales Youth Cup semi-final between Porthmadog and Llandudno will be played on the Traeth on Sunday (14 March) with a 2 pm kick off. This has been a good season for the Youth team, reaching the 4th Round of the Welsh Youth Cup before going out 2-0 to Swansea City after a competitive performance.
They face tough opposition again on Sunday for Llandudno have reached the semi-final of the Welsh Youth Cup with a 3-1 victory over Newport YMCA. In that semi final they will play Port’s conquerors, Swansea City.

Golwg ymlaen at gem Aber / A look ahead to the Aber game

Aberystwyth Ar nos Wener fydd Port yn chwarae y penwythnos yma, yng Nghoedlan y Parc, Aberystwyth. Bydd hon yn gêm ddarbi bersonol i Tomi Morgan yn erbyn y clwb y bu’n rheoli yn nhymor cyntaf UGC. Dyma’r tro cyntaf iddo fynd a Port i’r cae sydd ond munudau o’i gartref. Yn y gêm gyfatebol ar y Traeth enillodd Aber o 1-0 diolch i gôl hwyr mewn gêm lle bu Port yn rheoli am gyfnodau hir, ond heb lwyddo i roi’r bêl yn y rhwyd. A does fawr wedi newid o flaen y gôl i Port gan fod yr un methiannau wedi’u rhwystro rhag curo Hwlffordd ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf ac, er iddynt ddal y Rhyl yr wythnos cynt, methu rhwydo unwaith eto oedd y broblem. A bu fawr o lwc, wrth i Tomi geisio newid hyn, gan fod anafiadau wedi taro ar ôl iddo arwyddo blaenwyr newydd ym mis Ionawr.
Ar y llaw arall mae Aberystwyth ar rhediad gwych ers i Alan Morgan gymryd yr awenau gan godi i’r 3ydd safle yn y tabl. Ar y funud, nhw ydy un o’r timau a record ddiweddar orau yn y gynghrair, yn ennill eu pedair gêm ddiwethaf. Gyda Luke Bowen a Geoff Kellaway yn rhwydo’n rheolaidd a’r profiadol Aneurin Thomas yn trefnu pethau yn y cefn mae sialens anodd yn wynebu Port sydd wedi cael tymor, lle nad yw’r canlyniadau yn adlewyrchu safon y chwarae ar y cae. Rhaid gobeithio am gôl neu ddwy a pwy a wyr beth all ddigwydd wedyn!
Ewch i Coral i roi bet ar Aberystwyth v Porthmadog.

Port will play on Friday this week, at Aberystwyth’s Park Avenue ground. This is Tomi Morgan’s personal derby game against a club he managed in the very first WPL game in the inaugural season. This is the first time for him to lead Porthmadog to a ground only a couple of minutes from his home. The previous encounter this season resulted in a 1-0 win for Aber, thanks to a late goal in a game which Port largely dominated but failed to put the ball in the net. On that score very little has changed as lack of goal power denied them a win over Haverfordwest last Saturday and, though they matched Rhyl on the previous week, again they failed to find the net. Nor has there been any change of luck, with injuries scuppering Tomi’s efforts to boost the goal tally with January signings.
Aberystwyth on the other hand, under manager Alan Morgan, are enjoying a great run which has lifted them to 3rd spot in the table. They are currently one of the league’s form teams on a run of four straight wins. Luke Bowen and Geoff Kellaway are netting regularly and with the defence being marshalled by experienced Aneurin Thomas the game represents a big challenge to a Port side whose results often do not reflect their play on the pitch. Let’s hope for a couple of Port goals then who knows what might happen.

Mel yn ôl gyda’r Academi / Mel back at the Academy

Mae’r Academi yn croesawu yn ôl eu cyn gyfarwyddwr, Mel Jones, i gynorthwyo gyda hyfforddiant. Bydd Mel yn hyfforddi’r garfan Dan-11 sydd y chwarae yng nghystadleuaeth Tarian Tom Yeoman. Nos Wener bu’r timau Dan-11 yn chwarae Conwy ac er nad aeth y canlyniadau o blaid hogiau Port mwynhawyd y profiad o chwarae dan y goleuadau ar y Traeth. Edrychwn ymlaen i weld y garfan yn datblygu dan ddylanwad yr hyfforddwr profiadol.

The Academy welcomes back their former Academy Director Mel Jones who is to assist with coaching. Mel will be involved in coaching the U-11 squad who are playing in the Tom Yeoman Shield. Last Friday the U-11 squad entertained Conwy and, though the results did not go Port’s way, the lads enjoyed the experience of playing under lights on the main Traeth pitch. We look forward to the progress of the squad under the influence of this experienced coach.

Yr Alban yn ystyried cynghrair 16-clwb / SPL consider a change to a 16-club league

SPL Mae rheolwyr clybiau Uwch Gynghrair yr Alban wedi croesawu’r newyddion fod y gynghrair honno i ystyried cynyddu nifer y clybiau i 16.
Dywedodd Jim Jeffries, rheolwr clwb Hearts ac un sydd wedi bod yn awyddus i weld y newid yma ers tro, fod chwarae eu gilydd pedair gwaith yn cael effaith ddrwg ar bêl-droed yn yr Alban.
Dywedodd wrth bapur ‘Herald Scotland’ “Y cyntaf awn yn ôl i chwarae cartref ac oddi cartref gorau oll. Mae’r cyfnod o chwarae ein gilydd pedair gwaith drosodd erbyn hyn. Rym yn mynd yn rhy gyfarwydd a’n gilydd –yn gwybod am y math o gêm i ddisgwyl. Does yna ddim i godi awydd cefnogwyr i fynd i weld yr un tîm yn ymweld am yr ail dro.”
Wrth groesawu’r posibilrwydd o gael 16 o glybiau dywedodd Billy Reid, rheolwr Hamilton, y byddai’n fodd i adfywio cynghrair sydd yn colli stêm. Ar y llaw arall, yn ddiweddar dywedodd Andrew Howard, Pennaeth Cystadlaethau y Gymdeithas Pêl-droed, “Rym i gyd yn ymwybodol fod UGC yn mynd i lawr i 12 clwb y tymor nesaf, y strwythur mwyaf poblogaidd ond un gyda 11 o gynghreiriau o’r maint yma ledled Ewrop.
“Y deg gwlad arall sydd ar hyn o bryd â chynghreiriau 12-clwb ydy Yr Alban, Gweriniaeth Iwerddon, Denmarc, Slofacia, Moldofa, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania ac Israel.”
Gyda’r Alban bellach yn ystyried cynghrair 16-clwb a dwy wlad arall, Serbia ac Israel eisoes wedi mynd yn ôl at gynghrair o 16 clwb mae’n ymddangos fod dewis maint Uwch Gynghrair Cymru yn colli poblogrwydd. Mae’n ymddangos felly fod y brwdfrydedd dros gynghrair 12-clwb yn dechrau pylu. Mae’r gefnogaeth yn gwanio ymysg y cynghreiriau hynny sydd wedi arbrofi gyda strwythur 12-clwb.
Dangosodd arolwg ‘Sgorio’ mai cynghrair 16 clwb oedd hoff opsiwn clybiau uwch Gynghrair Cymru.

Scottish Premier League managers welcomed the news that the Scottish Premier League is considering expanding the top flight to 16 teams.
Jim Jefferies, the Hearts manager, has been one of those championing this reform for some time, claiming clubs playing each other four times a season is having a detrimental effect on the Scottish game.
Talking to ‘Herald Scotland’ he said. “The quicker we get back to playing home and away, the better. Playing each other four times has had its day. We’re getting too familiar with each other – we know each other’s games. I don’t think there’s any motivation for the supporters to go twice to see a team at home.”
Speaking about the possibility of 16 teams Hamilton manager Billy Reid said that it would help to revive a flagging competition.
On the other hand Andrew Howard, FAW Head of Competitions, said recently, "As we are all aware, the Welsh Premier League will be reducing to 12 teams for next season, which was the second most popular structure at the time with 11 leagues throughout Europe.
"The other 10 nations which currently use a 12-team league are Scotland, Republic of Ireland, Denmark, Slovakia, Moldova, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Israel."
With Scotland now considering a 16 club league and two other countries, Serbia and Israel, having already reverted to a 16 club league it appears that the WPL’s favoured league size is suddenly less popular. It appears therefore that there is dwindling support for the 12 club league structure amongst those leagues who have tried it.
WPL clubs also indicated, in the ‘Sgorio’ poll, that the 16 club league was their favoured option.
