They are midfielder Gareth Caughter, goalkeeper Richard Harvey and defender John Gwynfor Jones. Undeterred, they were determined to support their adopted club and travelled the length of Wales to enjoy the young Porthmadog side’s brave performance. They are pictured at the ground with their flags and also with the team after the game. 07/04/06 Ysgol Bêl-Droed - cofrestru / Football Coaching - registration Dylai pawb sydd yn dymuno bod yn rhan o’r Ysgol Bêl-droed ar ddydd Mercher, Ebrill 12 fed a dydd Iau, Ebrill 13eg gofio fod angen iddynt ddychwelyd eu ffurflenni cofrestru erbyn dydd Llun Ebrill 10fed i fod yn sicr o’u lle ar y cwrs. Byddai hynny’n “ ddibynnol ar y nifer sydd wedi cofrestru ar y pryd” meddai gan ychwanegu “ mae’n edrych yn addawol iawn ar y funud”. Mae'n edrych yn debyg y bydd gêm Cwmbrân bellach yn cael ei chwarae ar nos Fercher, Ebrill 19eg. It now seems that the Cwmbrân game will now be played on the evening of Wednesday, April 19th. Once the game has been finaly confirmed, it will appear on the fixtures page of this site. 03/04/06 Ad-drefnu gêm Cwmbrân / Rescheduling the Cwmbrân fixture ![]() According to the Welsh-Premier website, the Cwmbrân v Porthmadog game, which was to have been played last Saturday, has now been re-scheduled for April 11th. This however is the date when Porthmadog were due to visit the Airfield to play Airbus UK and no new date has been suggested for this game. The rescheduled date for the Cwmbrân game means that Porthmadog face the longest journey for an away fixture in midweek! There appears to be little room left for manoeuvre to further rearrange fixtures as Cwmbrân already have games lined up for Good Friday and Easter Monday and the last Saturday of the season, April 29th. 02/04/06 Academi/ Academy: Ynys Môn / Anglesey 1-1 Porthmadog Cyfartal oedd hi yn y gêm Dan 14 a chwaraewyd heddiw (Ebrill 2ail) yn Llangefni. Y sgoriwr i Porthmadog oedd Tomos Llywelyn. Gwisgwyd y cit newydd a noddwyd gan gwmni Gelert am y tro cyntaf yn y gêm hon. The Under 14 match played today (April 2nd) at Llangefni ended in a draw. The scorer for Porthmadog was Tomos Llywelyn. The kit sponsored by Gelert was used for the first time. Diolch i Portboi am y wybodaeth / Thanks to Portboi for the information. 02/04/06 Noddi cit / Kit sponsorship Yn y llun, gwelir Peter Havelock o dafarn Y Stesion, Porthmadog yn cyflwyno cit ar gyfer ymarfer, i reolwyr yr ail dîm, sef John Williams a Steve Smith. Hefyd, cyn gêm Llanelli nos Fawrth diwethaf, cyflwynwyd cit newydd i dîm Dan 14 yr Academi ar ran cwmni Gelert gan David Poyser. Mae David i’w weld yn rheolaidd ar Y Traeth. Mae’r clwb yn ddyledus iawn i’r busnesau lleol hyn am eu cefnogaeth a gwerthfawrogir parhad eu diddordeb a’u haelioni yn fawr. Mae dau o dimau eraill yr Academi yn chwilio am noddwyr ac, os oes gennych ddiddordeb, cysylltwch â Gerallt Owen. ![]() ![]() The photograph shows Peter Havelock of the Station Inn, Porthmadog presenting new training kit to Reserve team managers John Williams and Steve Smith. The club is indebted to these local companies for their support and their continued interest is warmly appreciated. Two further Academy teams are available for sponsorship and, if you are interested, then please get in touch with Gerallt Owen. 01/04/06 Gêm arall wedi ei gohirio! / Fixture chaos looms! Mae gêm heddiw yn erbyn Cwmbrân wedi ei gohirio oherwydd fod y cae yng Nghwmbran yn rhy wlyb. Yn ffodus, cafwyd y neges gan Cwmbrân am 8:15 y bore yma - cyn i'r chwaraewyr adael Porthmadog. Hon yw'r 7fed gêm y tymor yma i gael ei gohirio, ac felly fe fydd angen gwasgu gêm arall i mewn i ddiwedd y tymor. Mae wythnos wedi cael ei hychwanegu i ddiwedd y tymor yn barod - sgwn i fydd y tymor wedi gorffen cyn Cwpan y Byd?! Today's match against Cwmbrân has had to be postponed due to a water-logged pitch at Cwmbrân. Luckily, Cwmbrân managed to pass the on the message at 8:15 - before the team bus left Porthmadog. This is the 7th game to be cancelled this season, and will mean that another game needs to be squeezed into the final few weeks of the season. Already, an extra week has been added to the end of the season - will the season be over before the World Cup?! 31/03/06 Diolch Les i'w gefnogwyr! / Les to thank his fans! Fel diolch am eu cefnogaeth drwy'r tymor, fe fydd Les Davies yn talu pris y bws dros unrhywun dan 16 oed fydd yn mynd ar fws y tîm i gêm Bangor. If you wish to come along, contact Kaleidoscope (01766 514343) for further details. 29/03/06 Cwpan Her Gogledd Cymru / North Wales Coast Challenge Cup Tîm ifanc iawn aeth i’r maes dros Borthmadog wythnos ddiwethaf yn rownd yr wyth olaf a hynny yn erbyn tîm Cymru Alliance Llangefni. Penderfynwyd peidio dewis chwaraewyr y tîm cyntaf oherwydd y rhaglen drom sydd yn wynebu Porthmadog rhwng rwan a diwedd y tymor. Bydd ganddynt dwy gem gynghrair bob wythnos am y dair wythnos nesaf. Er nad yw’r penderfyniad hwn yn plesio pawb, mae’r cyd-rheolwyr yna i wneud penderfyniadau anodd a rhaid eu cefnogi. Dengys yr anaf a ddioddefodd Paul Whitfield, yn chwarae dros Y Rhyl yn erbyn Bae Colwyn yn yr un gystadleuaeth, y problemau sy’n wynebu clybiau. Rhaid i glwb â charfan fach benderfynu eu blaenoriaethau a pheidio ceisio ei dal hi ym mhobman. Er hyn i gyd, perfformiodd y chwaraewyr ifanc, a gafodd eu cyfle, yn hynod o dda gan ddal ati yn yr ail hanner yn ddewr. Rhaid cofio fod pump o’r tîm dan 18 oed gyda dau o’r pedwar yn y cefn ond yn 16 oed. In the quarter final at Llangefni, Porthmadog fielded a very young and inexperienced side against what was virtually full strength Cymru Alliance opposition. The decision not to play the first team was based on the heavy programme of matches which face the club between now and the end of the season. The club will play two WPL games a week for the next three weeks. This decision does not have everyone’s support but the injury to keeper Paul Whitfield in the Rhyl v Colwyn Bay encounter underlines the problem. Any club with a small squad has to consider where its priorities lie and after all we expect our joint-managers to make the tough decisions. Despite the problems, the young side did not let themselves down sticking to their task and performing especially well in the second half. It must be remembered that five of the team were under 18 years old with two of the back four being 16 year olds. Ywain Gwynedd was the only player on the night with first team experience. Though the final score was 5-0 in favour of Llangefni, Viv Williams was full of praise for the efforts of the youngsters. 28/03/06 Y Diweddaraf: Gêm Llanelli yn dal ymlaen / Latest News: Llanelli game still on Ar hyn o bryd, mae'n debyg y bydd y gêm heno yn erbyn Llanelli yn mynd yn ei blaen - er y glaw trwm sydd wedi disgyn yn ystod y dydd. Fe fydd archwiliad o'r cae yn cael ei gynnal yn agosach at 7:30. Despite the heavy reain which has been falling all day, tonight's game against Llanelli is currently still due to be played. A pitch inspection will be held closer to 7:30. 24/03/06 Chwaraewyr yn rhoi rhywbeth yn ôl / Players give something back ![]() Nid yn unig bydd yna hyfforddwyr cymwys yn bresennol ond hefyd nifer o chwaraewyr y tîm cyntaf gan gynnwys Gareth Caughter, Carl Owen, Ywain Gwynedd a Paul Friel. Meddai Osian Roberts “ Mae’n wych fod gennym chwaraewyr yn y tîm cyntaf sydd yn barod i roi rhywbeth yn ôl i helpu chwaraewyr ifanc yr ardal. Unwaith eto, mae’n dangos gymaint ydy pwyslais y Clwb ar ieuenctid ac ar ddatblygu chwaraewyr lleol.” Bydd yna fanylion pellach yn ymddangos ar y wefan hon wythnos nesaf . Bydd yn rhaid i’r plant GOFRESTRU cyn Ebrill 10 fed. ![]() There will not only qualified coaches present but also 1st team players including Gareth Caughter, Carl Owen, Ywain Gwynedd and Paul Friel. Osian Roberts said "It's great that we've got 1st team players who are willing to give something back, and are prepared to help the young players in the area. It just shows once again how much emphasis the Club put on youth and developing local talent." Further information will be posted next week, and children must REGISTER prior to the April 10 deadline. 24/03/06 Gemau ar Ynys Môn i'r Academi. / Matches on Anglesey for Academy. ![]() Tony Williams sydd wedi hyfforddi’r tîm dan 14 gan fwyaf ac yn bendant maent yn edrych yn addawol iawn. Yn eu gêm ddiwethaf yn erbyn Academi Y Rhyl, ieuenctid Port gafodd y fuddugoliaeth a hynny o 6-2 gyda’r blaenwr ifanc Dylan Evans yn sgorio pedair ohonynt. Roedd y tîm Dan 16, sydd yn cael eu hyfforddi gan Gareth Piercey, hefyd yn fuddugol. Pan oeddent yn croesawu tîm profiadol Ynys Môn ym mis Chwefror, enillodd Porthmadog o 2-1 gan sgorio gyda ergyd ola’r gêm, mewn gêm ardderchog. Dywedodd Osian Roberts, Cyfarwyddwr yr Academi, “Cefais fy mhlesio gyda’r hyn a welais hyd yma, gyda rhai â’r talent i fynd llawer ym mhellach. Yn bendant byddaf y cadw llygad arnynt.” Byddant yn teithio i Langefni i chwarae Ynys Môn ac hefyd Caernarfon ar ddydd Sul Ebrill 9fed. Dywedodd Osian Roberts hefyd ei fod wedi sicrhau gwasanaeth Bernie Smith, hyfforddwr profiadol iawn o Bwllheli. Mae gan Osian gryn feddwl o waith Bernie a hyn o ganlyniad i’r gwaith mae’r ddau wedi’i wneud gyda ieuenctid. Bydd Bernie yn rhoi hwb i’r gwaith o ddatblygu’r talent presennol ac i recriwtio eraill i’r Academi. Following their successful second FAW Audit last week the Academy will be going to Anglesey next for a series of matches. The promising Under 12 and Under 14 squads will play at Llangefni against their counterparts from Anglesey and Caernarfon on Sunday, April 2. The Under 12 squad has been practicing weekly under the tutelage of FAW C Certificate Coach Kevin Griffiths, and he has been very pleased with the progress made by these local players to date. The Under 14 side has been coached predominantly by Tony Williams and they certainly look full of promise. Their last game against Rhyl Academy saw the young Port players win by 6 goals to 2, and young striker Dylan Evans bagged four of them! The Under 16 side, coached by Gareth Piercey, is also on a winning streak. Hosting the experienced Anglesey side in February, Port won 2 - 1 in a thoroughly entertaining match with virtually the last strike of the game. Academy Director Osian Roberts said "I've been quite impressed with what I've seen so far, and some certainly have the talent to go much further. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on them." They will travel to Llangefni to play Anglesey and Caernarfon on Sunday, April 9. Osian Roberts also stated he is delighted to have secured the assistance of highly experienced Bernie Smith from Pwllheli. Osian holds Bernie in high esteem and has known him for years due to their work with youth players. Bernie will be a major boost to help develop Port's existing young talent and in identifying and recruiting others to the Academy. 23/03/06 Cytundebau newydd - ecsgliwsif! / New contracts - exclusive! ![]() Tra fod y ddau yma’n sgorio goliau ar un ochr o’r cae, mae’r tri arall sydd wedi arwyddo yn eu cadw allan ochr arall y cae. Mae tri amddiffynnwr canol y clwb, Rhys Roberts, Ryan Davies a chapten y clwb Lee Webber, hefyd wedi arwyddo. Mae Rhys Roberts yn ei dymor cyntaf gyda’r clwb ac wedi addasu’n hawdd i’r safon uwch ac wedi ymddangos ym mhob gêm y tymor yma. Mae problemau anafiadau wedi cadw Ryan Davies allan o’r tîm am y tri mis diwethaf ond mae wedi bod yn bresenoldeb mawr yn amddiffyn Porthmadog ers ymuno â’r clwb – mae ei sgiliau a’i gryfder yn aml yn ei wneud yn asgwrn cefn yr amddiffyn. Y trydydd amddiffynnwr i arwyddo yw Lee Webber, capten y clwb sy’n amddiffynnwr gwych ac yn arwain trwy esiampl ar y maes. Dywedodd cyd-reolwr Porthmadog, Viv Williams, am y newyddion “Yn amlwg rwy’n falch iawn fod yr hogiau yma wedi cytuno i aros; mae nhw i gyd yn awyddus i ddysgu ac mae ganddynt flynyddoedd lawer o’u blaen. Maent wedi datblygu gyda’r clwb ac rwy’n siŵr fod eu blynyddoedd gorau o’u blaen. Mae’n amser cyffrous iawn i’r clwb”. ![]() While those two are scoring goals at one end of the pitch, the other three who have signed keep them out at the other end. The clubs three central defenders have also committed to the club, they are Rhys Roberts, Ryan Davies and club captain Lee Webber. Rhys Roberts is in his first season at the club and his first season in the Welsh Premier and has adapted to the higher level like a duck to water he has been an ever present in the starting line so far this term. Ryan Davies who has struggled with injury for the last three months but has been a massive presence in the Porthmadog defence since joining the club, his composed and skillful performances are often the beadrock of the Porthmadog rearguard. The third central defender to sign is club captain Lee Webber who is an exceptional defender and leader, who leads through example on the pitch. Porthmadog Joint Manager Viv Williams commenting on the signings said "I am obviously delighted that these lads have agreed to stay, they are all keen to learn with many years in front of them, they have developed with the club and I am sure that the best is yet to come from them all. These are exciting times for the club”. 23/03/06 Carl yn taro mwy na deuddeg / Carl strikes 16 times ![]() Eto nid dyma’r stori i gyd. Fedr ymosodwr, er yn ddawnus, ddim sgorio heb gymorth y chwaraewyr o’i gwmpas. Mae edrych ar yr ‘assists’ a gafodd Carl i sgorio’r 16 gôl yn agoriad llygad ac yn ddadlennol iawn. Dyma nhw:- Les Davies 8, Rhys Roberts 2, Neil Thomas 2 gyda’r canlynol yn cyfrannu un yr un– Gareth Caughter, Mike Foster, Gareth Parry, Lee Webber. Mae rheolwyr yn edrych bob amser i gryfhau’r garfan gan ffitio darnau o’r jig-so at ei gilydd.. Pan ddaeth Viv ac Osian â Les i Borthmadog i ymuno gyda Carl ar ddechrau’r tymor gwnaethon nhw daro deuddeg yn sicr. Rhaid dweud fod y bartneriaeth hon yn holl bwysig i lwyddiant y clwb ac mae o fudd hefyd i Carl a Les barhau â’u partneriaeth a phrofi mwy eto o lwyddiant yn y dyfodol. Carl Owen has had an outstanding season scoring 15 league and one Premier Cup goal -goals which put him in 5th place in the WPL scoring list for the season. As most of those ahead of him play for clubs in the top five in the table, many have asked how is it that a player from a club which has spent most of its time in the lower mid-table can be such a prolific scorer. Others have wondered why he has found the net more frequently this season than last . Osian Roberts has supplied part of the answer when he revealed how Carl had spent much of the summer training and improving his skills with the Porthmadog joint-manager. This dedication is an example to all young players at the club and has certainly brought its rewards. This however tells a part of the story but not all. Strikers cannot score without the assistance of the players around them. A look at a break down of the assists for the 16 goals makes very interesting reading:- Les Davies 8 assists, Rhys Roberts 2 assists, Neil Thomas 2 assists with the following supplying one assist each – Gareth Caughter, Mike Foster, Gareth Parry, Lee Webber. Managers look to strengthen their team and fit pieces of the jig-saw together. When Viv and Osian brought Les and Carl together they struck gold. This partnership is vital for the club and the two individuals concerned will undoubtedly benefit from continuing their highly successful partnership. 23/03/06 Estyniad i’r Tymor / Season Extended ![]() A ONE-week extension to the season was agreed by the Welsh Premier League's board meeting in Caersws on Wednesday. There will now be a programme of games on Tuesday and Saturday 25 and 29 April. Here are the remaining fixtures. Though the extension is for one-week until April 29th Porthmadog will not play on the closing day. Their last fixture will be on the previous Tuesday at Airbus. Here are the remaining fixtures:- 25/03/06 Porthmadog v Caernarfon. 28/03/06 Porthmadog v Llanelli 01/04/06 Cwmbrân v Porthmadog 04/04/06 Bangor v Porthmadog 08/04/06 Llanelli v Porthmadog 11/04/06 Airbus UK v Porthmadog 15/04/06 Caerfyrddin v Porthmadog 22/04/06 Porthmadog v Trallwng 21/03/06 Bws i Ffordd Ffarar / Bus to Farar Road ![]() The club has organised a supporters’ coach for the game at Farrar Road against Bangor City on Tuesday April 4th. The cost will be £2-00 for adults and £1-00 for children. If you are interested, please contact Kaleidoscope (01766 514343) for further details. First come basis. 15/03/06 Gêm dydd Sul i ffwrdd / Sunday’s gêm off ![]() Porthmadog officials were taken by surprise when the Carmarthen coaching team announced, prior to last night’s game, that the return encounter fixed for next Sunday (March 19th) was off. To add to the confusion, they informed Port that they had postponed it a week ago! It’s a pity that no one found it necessary to inform the Traeth club as they had at least an equal interest in knowing what was going on! With players’ travel arrangements already made and a bus booked, it would have been useful to know what was going on a bit sooner. At least it means less immediate pressure on the players and they can concentrate on the game at Connah’s Quay. It could however mean more fixture congestion. 14/03/06 Gem heno ’mlaen / Tonight’s game on Mae gêm heno (Mawrth14eg) yn erbyn Caerfyrddin ar Y Traeth yn bendant ymlaen. Cadarnhaodd y cadeirydd, Phil Jones, fod y cae yn iawn er gwaetha’r glaw diweddar. Mae hon yn gêm bwysig felly cefnogwch yr hogiau. Cic gyntaf am 7.30 pm. Tonight’s (March 14th) clash with Carmarthen Town at the Traeth is definitely on. Phil Jones, the Porthmadog chairman, confirmed that the pitch is definitely playable despite the recent rain. This is an important game and supporters are urged to turn up in force to cheer the lads on. Kick off 7.30 pm. 13/03/06 Wythnos Brysur / A Busy Week ![]() ![]() 12/03/06 Y Bermo / Barmouth....1 Porthmadog Ail/Res....2. Canlyniad arbennig i ffwrdd yn erbyn tîm sydd yn bedwerydd yn y gynghrair. Hanner cyntaf gwastad iawn ond Port yn sgorio'r unig gôl trwy Iestyn Woolway. Y Bermo yn dod allan yn yr ail hanner lot cryfach ond Porthmadog yn ymestyn eu mantais gyda gôl gan Mathew Hughes. Yn dilyn gôl gan y Bermo roedd pwysa mawr ar yr amddiffyn ond llwyddodd y tîm i ddal eu gafael ar eu mantais gyda arbediad gwirioneddol wych gan Dylan , y gorau oedd y reff wedi ei weld erstalwm iawn medda fo. Mae'n rhaid canmol y reff hefyd, mi gafodd gem dda a theg iawn, mae fel arfer yn reffio mewn cynghrair uwch, ond mi oedd ganddo ddigon o amser i drafod ei benderfyniadau gyda'r hogiau oedd yn neis iawn i'w weld. The reserves gained an excellent away win against a team who are placed 4th in the league. In an even first half Iestyn Woolway scored the only goal for Porthmadog. Barmouth came out strongly in the second period but it was the visitors who stretched their lead with a goal from Matthew Hughes. Once Barmouth had scored to cut the advantage they put enormous pressure on the Porthmadog defence but they held firm and were grateful to Dylan in goal for one fantastic save. The referee commented afterwards that it was one of the best saves he had seen for some considerable time. The referee, who usually referees at a higher level, deserves praise for the fair way in which he handled the game taking time to explain his decisions to the players and this was very pleasing to see. Porthmadog: Dylan Edwards, Steve Cope, Liam Watson, Dave Harding, Arwel Evans,Mathew Hughes, Andrew Jones, Steve Jones,Iestyn Woolway, Gareth Piercy, Subs: Tristan Godfrey, Ben Riggle, Mark Cooke , Rogan Chester. The final against Peritus was held on April 21st and to commemorate this memorable win 50 years on the club is arranging a reunion of the players who won the Cup in that season. The event will take place prior to our final league match of the season at home to Welshpool on April 22nd. We will be preparing a small exhibition for the day and are hoping to borrow the Cup for the day. If you have any memorabilia or reminiscences of that day which you would like to share with a wider audience then please contact Gerallt Owen on 07841 927990. We already have a copy of the match programme and numerous photographs but if you were at the match or have a tale to tell about that day or about the cup run then please do get in touch. There was standing water on the pitch yesterday and heavy overnight rain made the postponement inevitable. This following the postponement of all five matches which were to have been played last night makes extending the season by at least a week the most likely solution to the fixture pile-up. 07/03/06 Gêm Llanelli dan fygythiad / Llanelli match in doubt Mae’r gêm nos yfory rhwng Porthmadog a Llanelli dan fygythiad yn dilyn glaw trwm ym Mhorthmadog drwy’r pnawn. Roedd Cadeirydd y Clwb Phil Jones, oedd lawr ar y cae am 4.30pm ddydd Mawrth yn poeni y byddai’n rhaid i’r gêm gael ei gohirio. Dywedodd “Mae dwr yn sefyll wrth geg un o’r goliau ac ar y cylch canol, byddai’r gêm wedi cael ei gohirio os byddai’n cael ei chwarae heno.” Fodd bynnag, nid yw rhagolygon y tywydd ar gyfer dydd Mercher yn dda gyda disgwyl llawer mwy o law dros nos ac yfory. Bydd Llanelli yn dechrau’n gynnar ac yn gobeithio stopio ar y ffordd draw felly bydd angen archwiliad cynnar ar y cae. Tomorrow night's game between Porthmadog and Llanelli is in doubt following heavy rain in Porthmadog all afternoon. Club Chairman Phil Jones who was down at the ground at 4.30pm on Tuesday was worried that the match might have to be called off. He said "We have standing water in one goal mouth and in the centre circle, if it was scheduled for tonight it would be off." However the weather forecast for Wednesday is not good with more rain forecast over night and tomorrow. Llanelli are making an early start with a scheduled stop off on the way down so an early pitch inspection will be required. 07/03/06 Ritchie i symud i'r Ofal / Ritchie to move to the Oval ![]() Disgwylir i Richie Owen, chwaraewr canol cae Porthmadog, adael yn ystod y dyddiau nesaf ac ymuno gyda’n cymdogion ar yr Oval. Yn ystod yr wythnosau diwethaf, cafodd Owen anhawster i sicrhau ei le yn y tîm ac ar ôl cyfnod o bum mlynedd mae wedi penderfynu gadael y clwb. Dywedodd y cyd rheolwr Osian Roberts, “Mae Richie wedi bod yn weithiwr caled, gonest i’r clwb ers ein cyfnod yn y Cymru Alliance. Yn ystod ei amser gyda ni fedra’i ddim ei gofio yn methu yr un ymarfer.” Cychwynnodd Richie mewn pymtheg gêm Uwch Gynghrair Cymru eleni yn ogystal â dod o’r fainc ar chwe achlysur gan sgorio dwy gôl. I hwyluso’r symudiad, penderfynodd Porthmadog anwybyddu’r rheol rhybudd 7 niwrnod a hyn fel ffafr i chwaraewr sydd wedi rhoi gwasanaeth rhagorol i’r clwb. Dymuna’r clwb ddiolch i Richie am ei holl ymdrechion dros y blynyddoedd gan ddymuno’n dda iddo at y dyfodol. The following statement was released on behalf of the club this afternoon by the secretary Gerallt Owen. Porthmadog midfield player Richie Owen is due to move to Gwynedd rivals Caernarfon in the next few days. Owen who has struggled for his place in the Porthmadog team in recent weeks leaves the club for whom he has played for 5 years. Joint manager Osian Roberts commenting on the departure said, "Richie has been a good hardworking, honest player for us since our days in the Cymru Alliance. In his whole time at the club I can't recall him missing training once." Owen has made 15 Welsh Premier starts and 6 substitute appearances this season and scored two goals. To facilitate the switch Porthmadog have waived the seven day notice of approach as a favour to Owen for his excellent service to the club. The club would like to thank Richie for his efforts over the years and wish him all the best for the future. 07/03/06 Gêm Dan-21 wedi'i gohirio / Under-21 match called off ![]() The under 21 game against Welshpool, due to be played this evening, March 7th has been postponed in view of the WPL game against Llanelli to be played at the Traeth tomorrow. It would not have been possible to play two games at the ground on successive evenings in the prevailing weather conditions. 06/03/06 Y Traeth dan eira / Y Traeth under snow. Dyma oedd yr olygfa ar y Traeth fore Sadwrn, wedi i dridiau o dywydd gaeafol adael y cae gyda gorchudd o ddwy fodfedd o Eira. Fel y byddech yn disgwyl, nid oedd dewis ond ychwanegu gêm yr ail dîm yn erbyn ail dîm Caergybi at y rhestr hir o gemau a ohiriwyd dros y penwythnos. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This was the scene at y Traeth on Saturday morning, after three days of wintry weather left the pitch with a two inch covering of Snow. As you would expect, the club were left with little choice other than adding the reserves’ match against Holyhead reserves to the long list of weekend cancellations. 01/03/06 CPD Porthmadog U 21 … 3 Bangor City U 21 … 3 ![]() Bangor oedd gryfaf yn yr ail hanner ond roedd yn hwyr iawn cyn iddynt ganfod y rhwyd. Peniad gan Simon Kay yn dilyn cic gornel ddaeth â’r sgôr yn 3-2 ac wedyn dau funud o’r diwedd daeth Duncan Gowans â’r sgôr yn gyfartal yn dilyn cic rydd. Cafwyd perfformiad tîm ardderchog gan Porthmadog ond rhaid enwi Gavin Davies a gafodd gêm wych arall yng nghanol y cae ac Arwel Evans yr un modd yn y cefn. Cyn iddo gael anaf, roedd Ian Williams –brawd bach cyn chwaraewr Port, Mark Williams- yn fywiog iawn yn y blaen ac yn ffurfio partneriaeth beryg gyda Kurt Williams. An excellent U 21 game was played last night at the Traeth in difficult wintry conditions. There was a burst of scoring around the 15 minute mark with Porthmadog going deservedly ahead when Hughes in goal for Bangor could only partially stop Tom Hughes’s powerful drive and Kurt Williams was on hand to score from close range. Two minutes later, there was a carbon copy goal with Kurt Williams again picking up the pieces this time after Ywain Gwynedd’s drive. Bangor however pulled a goal back immediately when Danny Roberts headed in at the far post. Ten minutes before the interval, Iwan Thomas restored Porthmadog’s advantage with a header following a corner. The second-half however belonged to Bangor but it was late on before they could find the net. Simon Kay headed a goal following a corner and two minutes from time Gowans scored the equaliser following a free-kick. Porthmadog youngsters gave an excellent team performance but mention must be made of Gavin Davies who gave another excellent performance in midfield as did Arwel Evans at the back Before injury forced his withdrawal, Ian Williams – brother of former Port striker Mark Williams- was a livewire up front forming a dangerous partnership with Kurt Williams. Porthmadog: Dylan Edwards, Stephen Cope, Iwan Williams, Dale Harding, Arwel Evans, Gavin Davies, Ywain Gwynedd, Iwan Thomas, Ian Williams, Kurt Williams, Tom Hughes. Subs: Ben Riggle, Trystan Godfrey, Iestyn Woolway, Stephen Jones, Declan Williams. Gareth Williams. 28/02/06 Tôt Misol - 24ain Chwefror / Monthly Tote - 24th February Rhifau buddugol: 17 + 4 Gwobr: £546 Ennillwyr: Pam Roberts, Gillian Roberts + Ifan/Guto Dyddiad cau gwborau: 8pm 03/03/06 Winning numbers: 17 + 4 Prize: £546 Winners: Pam Roberts, Gillian Roberts + Ifan/Guto Closing date for further claims: 8pm 03/03/06 27/02/06 Trefn newydd i'r gemau / Fixture re-arrangements ![]() Disgrifiodd ysgrifennydd y clwb, Gerallt Owen y trefniant fel un sydd yn bell o fod yn ddelfrydol. “Mae’n rhoi pedair gêm adref yn olynol i ni a tuag at ddiwedd y tymor bydd gennym bedair gêm ffwrdd yn olynol. Mae hefyd yn anfoddhaol ein bod yn cael ein gorfodi i chwarae dwy gêm dros un penwythnos sef yn Cei Conna ar nos Wener, Mawrth 17eg a Chaerfyrddin ar ddydd Sul, Mawrth 19eg.” Ychwanegodd, “Nid oedd modd osgoi hyn os oeddem am osgoi ymestyn y tymor ar y diwedd.” The re-arrangement of outstanding fixtures has now been finalised starting with the next fixture which will be a midweek home match at the Traeth on Wednesday, March 8th against high-flying Llanelli. The away match against Llanelli will now be on April 8th. The home match against Carmarthen Town will also be a midweek fixture on Tuesday, March 14th whilst the corresponding fixture at Richmond Road will be a Sunday afternoon game on March 19th. The away game at Farrar Road against Bangor City is another midweek fixture to be played on Tuesday, April 4th. Club secretary Gerallt Owen described the list as being far from ideal. “It gives us four home games in a row and then four away games towards the end of the season. Also unsatisfactory is the fact that we are forced to play two games over one weekend at Connah’s Quay on Friday, March 17th and Carmarthen on Sunday, March 19th.” He added, “This has been unavoidable if we were to avoid an extension at the end of the season” 21/02/06 Gem Dan-21 wedi'i gohirio / Under-21 match called off Mae’r gêm Dan 21 a oedd i’w chwarae nos Iau (Chwefror 23ain) yn Y Trallwng wedi’i gohirio. Nid oedd Trallwng yn medru chwarae ar y noson gan fod ganddynt gêm Uwch Gynghrair Cymru ar y noson ganlynol (Chwefror 24ain) The Under 21 game due to be played on Thursday (February 23) has been called off by Welshpool. They are unable to fulfil the fixture as they have a Welsh Premier fixture on the following evening, Friday February 24th. 20/02/06 Dan-14 / Under-14s - Porthmadog 6-3 Rhyl ![]() ![]() Llongyfarchiadau i'r tîm dan-14 a gurodd Rhyl o 6-3. Y sgorwyr oedd Dylan Evans (4), Conor Evans a Cai Jones. Congratulations to the under-14s who beat Rhyl by 6-3. The goal scorers were Dylan Evans (4), Conor Evans a Cai Jones. 16/02/06 Cwpan yr Arfordir / Coast Cup Yn rownd nesaf Cwpan Her yr Arfordir, gwrthwynebwyr Port fydd Llangefni. Sicrhaodd y clwb o Ynys Môn eu lle yn y rownd nesaf drwy guro Bontnewydd 2-1 ddydd Sadwrn (Chwefror 11eg). Cael a chael oedd hi i Langefni dros y clwb o Gynghrair Gwynedd sydd yn dipyn o syndod o gofio’u buddugoliaeth dda o 3-1 yng Nghaersws yng Nghwpan Cymru ar Chwefror 4ydd. Byddwn yn cyhoeddi dyddiad y gêm ar y wefan pan ddaw i law. In the next round of the Coast Challenge Cup, Port will meet Llangefni Town. The Anglesey club gained their place in the next round thanks to a narrow 2-1 victory over Gwynedd League club Bontnewydd. The closeness of the result was a surprise in view of Llangefni’s excellent 3-1 victory at Caersws in the Welsh Cup on February 4th. Once we have received a date for the game, we will announce it on the website. 15/02/06 Bws i Gaersws / Coach to Caersws ![]() Gobeithiwn weld nifer dda o gefnogwyr yn gwneud y daith i’r canolbarth. Ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf, aeth criw da o gefnogwyr i’r Rhyl. Mae’r chwaraewyr bob amser yn gwerthfawrogi’r gefnogaeth a gânt yn enwedig mewn gêmau i ffwrdd. Y bwriad ydy i gefnogwyr Port hel at ei gilydd ar y Rec yn Caersws ac unwaith eto dilyn esiampl ardderchog criw lesisalegend a chreu digonedd o swn. Cefnogwch yr hogiau! Bydd y gic gyntaf am 2.30pm. There will be a supporters coach for those intending to travel to Caersws on Saturday (February 18th). The coach will leave Port at 11.30 am from outside the Queens. If you are interested in travelling with the club, then contact Kaleidoscope (01766 514343), for further information. It is hoped that a good contingent will make the journey to Mid-Wales. Last Saturday there was good support at Rhyl. The players are always appreciative of the support they receive especially on away grounds. The intention is for supporters to congregate together inside the Rec at Caersws and once more follow the excellent example of the lesisalegend crew and create plenty of noise. Support the lads –kick off is at 2.30 pm. 15/02/06 Mike - 300 heb fod allan / Mike’s 300 not out ![]() Mike Foster reached the remarkable record of 300 Welsh Premier appearances when he started last Saturday’s (February 11th) game at the Belle Vue against Rhyl. We extend our congratulations to this consistent player who has been such a reliable defender during the 14 years since the commencement of the National league. On the same day, Justin Wickham of Welshpool Town reached the same milestone which places both players in 13th spot on the all time Welsh Premier appearance list. |
