11/07/06 Challon Lodge Bydd Porthmadog yn chwarae eu gêm baratoi gyntaf o’r tymor ddydd Sadwrn nesaf (Gorffennaf 15) yn erbyn Challon Lodge (St Helens), a bydd yr ail dim yn cyfarfod Llannerchymedd. Cynhelir y ddwy gêm ar gae clwb Llannerchymedd. Porthmadog will play their first pre-season fixture on Saturday (July 15) when they meet Challon Lodge (St Helens). The reserve team will also be in action on the same day when they take on the Anglesey club, Llannerchymedd. Both matches will be played on the Anglesey club’s ground at Llannerchymedd. 29/06/06 Rali Hen Geir / Vintage car Rally Eleni eto fydd CPD Porthmadog yn trefnu rali flynyddol o hen geir i’w chynnal ddydd Sadwrn nesaf, Gorffennaf 1af, ar Y Traeth ac yn cychwyn am 10.30 y bore ac yn parhau i’r prynhawn. Gyda’r rhagolygon yn darogan penwythnos braf iawn, disgwylir y bydd nifer fawr o hen geir yn cael eu harddangos yn y 4ydd rali flynyddol. Bydd yna stondinau amrywiol a hefyd rhywbeth ar gyfer y teulu cyfan. Edrychwn ymlaen i’ch gweld ddydd Sadwrn. Porthmadog FC are once more organising the annual Vintage Car Rally this year and it will be held at the Traeth next Saturday, July 1st commencing at10 .30 a.m and continuing into the afternoon. With good weather forecast for the weekend, a bumper entry of vintage vehicles is expected for the 4th annual rally. The event will include a variety of stalls and entertainment for all the family. See you on Saturday. 26/06/06 Tynnu allan o’r gynghrair Dan 21 / Withdrawal from Under 21 league Mae Porthmadog wedi penderfynu peidio ymuno â’r Gynghrair Dan 21 yn 2006-07 Profodd y gynghrair hon yn drafferthus iawn i glybiau yn 2005-06 ac yn arbennig felly i Borthmadog. Gohiriwyd y gêm yn TNS oherwydd diffyg gyda’r llifoleuadau a hefyd gohiriwyd y gêm adref yn erbyn Y Trallwng oherwydd anaf drwg. Cyfrannwyd ymhellach at yr hunllef wrth iddi brofi’n anodd iawn i ddod i gytundeb ynglŷn â dyddiadau ar gyfer y gêmau. Mae’r holl draul ar y cae hefyd yn ffactor a berswadiodd y Bwrdd i dynnu allan. Dywedodd ysgrifennydd Porthmadog Gerallt Owen “Cafwyd problemau mawr y llynedd ac yn y diwedd ni gwblhawyd y rhestr gêmau. Penderfyniad y Bwrdd ydy peidio cymryd rhan eleni ond i fonitro’r sefyllfa at y dyfodol.” Ychwanegodd “gan nad oes gennym dirmon llawn amser ac ond ychydig o wirfoddolwyr profodd yn fwyfwy anodd i gadw’r cae mewn cyflwr boddhaol. Tan i’r sefyllfa wella, mae’n anodd gweld sut y gellir caniatáu fwy o gêmau ar y Traeth.” Porthmadog Football Club have decided not to enter the troubled Welsh Premier Under 21 League for the 2006-2007 season. Last season proved a troubled one for the newly formed League and especially so for Porthmadog. Floodlight failure at TNS forced a postponement and the Welshpool game at home was also postponed due to injury - nightmare problems with agreeing fixtures also contributed. The wear and tear on the Traeth pitch is another reason why the Board have now decided to withdraw. Porthmadog Secretary Gerallt Owen said 'Last year we had big problems and we did not even complete our fixtures. The Board have resolved not to enter the competition this year but we will monitor the situation.' He added 'with no full time groundsman and very few volunteers, it was proving more and more difficult to keep the pitch in a decent condition. Until that situation changes for the better, it is hard to see how we can allow more matches on the Traeth.' 23/06/06 Gemau'r tymor nesaf wedi'u cyhoeddi / Next season's fixtures announced Bydd Porthmadog yn dechrau tymor nesaf yn Uwchgynghrair Cymru gartref ar y Traeth yn erbyn y Trallwng ar Awst 19eg. Dros wyliau'r Nadolig, bydd Port yn chwarae yn erbyn Aberystwyth gartref ar Ŵyl San Steffan ac oddi-cartref ar Ddiwrnod Calan - y gemau'n llawn. Porthmadog will start next season's Welsh Premier campaign with a home fixture against Welshpool on 19th August. As has been the case over the past couple of years, the Christmas holidays will see Port face Aberystwyth home and away on Boxing Day and New Year's Day - full fixture list. 13/06/06 Arwyddion newydd i'r Traeth / New signs to the Traeth Yn dilyn pwysau gan wefeistr www.cpdporthmadog.com, mae Cyngor Gwynedd wedi cytuno mewn egwyddor i roi arwyddion swyddogol at y Traeth ar y Stryd Fawr yng nghanol Porthmadog. Bydd yr arwyddion yn gymorth i gefnogwyr sy'n ymweld â'r dref a gobeithio y bydd yn denu un neu ddau ychwanegol i lawr i'r Traeth. Yn ôl Bryn Jones, Peiriannydd Traffic, Asiantaeth Cefnffyrdd Gogledd Cymru, "bydd y Cynulliad yn cwrdd y costau a byddwn yn trefnu i ddarparu’r arwyddion cyn gynted a bo’r modd". Following pressure by the www.porthmadogfc.com webmaster, Gwynedd Council have agreed in principal that official signs to the Traeth will be placed on the High Street in Porthmadog. The signs will assist visitors to the town and will hopefully attract one or two more down to the Traeth. According to Bryn Jones, North Wales Trunk Highways Agency Traffic Engineer, "the Assembly will bare the costs and we will provide the signs as soon as possible". 03/06/06 Campbell yn gadael am Gaergybi / Campbell leaves for Holyhead Mae CPD Porthmadog wedi cadarnhau fod Campbell Harrison, ffisiotherapydd y clwb i adael. Mae Campbell wedi bod yn was ffyddlon i’r clwb – yn gyntaf fel chwaraewr ac yna fel ffisiotherapydd – ac fe fydd ei ymadawiad yn golled fawr i’r clwb. Ymunodd gyda’r clwb yn 1996 gan ymddangos 23 o weithiau yng Nghynghrair Cymru cyn symud am flwyddyn i’r Eidal. Dychwelodd at y clwb yn nhymor 1998/99 gan ymddangos 29 o weithiau yng Nghynghrair Undebol Gogledd Cymru ond yn anffodus daeth anafiadau â diwedd i’w yrfa – dim ond ambell ymddangosiad a fu yn ddiweddar. Ar yr un pryd, daeth yn ffisiotherapydd y clwb ac mae wedi cael ei hun mewn dŵr poeth ar ambell dro ar y llinell ochr! Er hyn, mae Campbell wedi bod yn was ffyddlon i’r clwb ac fe fydd yn cael ei gofio fel boi clên. Pan yn cyhoeddi ei ymadawiad, dymunodd y gorau i bawb yn y clwb, “Rwyf wedi mwynhau fy amser â Port yn fawr, mae’n glwb da gyda chefnogwyr a swyddogion gwych; dymunaf y gorau i’r clwb at y dyfodol." Deallwn mai Campbell fydd rheolwr Caergybi ar gyfer tymor nesaf. Pob lwc iddo. Porthmadog FC have confirmed that club Physio Campbell Harrison is leaving the club. Long time servant of the club as player and then more recently as physio, Campbell will be sorely missed by all at the club for all his effort over the years. He initially joined the club in 1996 making 23 League of Wales appearances in that season. He then spent a year away in Italy. He returned for the 1998/99 season as the club returned to the Cymru Alliance making 29 appearances. He was a regular during most of the clubs period in the Cymru Alliance before illness cut short his career allowing only periodic appearances in recent years. He took over the physio duties in recent years and has been known to get himself into trouble with the odd official from his position on the touchline! However Campbell has been a great servant to the club and will always be remembered as a really nice guy. On announcing his decision to leave he asked that his best wishes be sent to all at the club, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Port, it’s a great club with wonderful fans and officials, I wish the club all the very best in the future", he added. We understand that Campbell will join Holyhead as manager for next season. We wish him all the best. 01/06/06 Port yn colli siawns am Ewrop? / Port loose out on Europe? Oherwydd i Gymru orffen yn 10fed yng Nghynghrair Chwarae Teg UEFA, fe fydd enw Cymru yn yr het ar gyfer lle ychwanegol yng Nghwpan UEFA tymor nesaf. Gorffennodd Porthmadog yn ail yng Nghynghrair Chwarae Teg Cymru ac, oherwydd fod yr enillwyr – TNS – yn barod wedi ennill lle yn Ewrop, Port fyddai’n ennill y lle ychwanegol. Yn anffodus, nid yw Port wedi derbyn ‘trwydded UEFA’ y tymor hwn, felly os daw enw Cymru allan o’r het ar y 4ydd o Fehefin, Hwlffordd – y tîm a orffennodd yn drydydd yn y Gynghrair Chware Teg – fydd yn cynrychioli Cymru yng Nghwpan UEFA. As Wales have finished 10th in UEFA’s Fair Play League, Wales’ name will be placed in the draw for an extra place in next season’s UEFA Cup. Porthmadog finished second in Wales’ Fair Play league and, because the winners – TNS – have already qualified for Europe, Port would gain this extra place. Unfortunately, this season Port have not gained an ‘UEFA licence’, so if Wales’ name is drawn from the hat on the 4th June, it will be Haverfordwest – the team who finished third in the Fair Play League – who will be representing Wales in the UEFA Cup. 01/06/06 Rhowch eich barn ar y gynghrair / Have your say about the league Mae peneithiaid pêl-droed Cymru eisiau eich barn ar Uwchgynghrair Cymru. Ydych chi’n teimlo fod y safon yn ddigon uchel? Ydy’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed yn rhoi digon o gefnogaeth i’r gynghrair? Sut mae posib gwella’r awyrgylch mewn gemau? Os ydych chi eisiau gweld pethau’n newid, dyma’ch cyfle i roi eich barn. Ymwelwch â http://www.low.org.uk/ i ddweud eich dweud. Welsh football chiefs want your opinion about the Welsh Premiership. Do you feel that the standard of football is high enough? Is the FAW giving the league enough of its support? How can the atmosphere at matches be improved? If you want to see things change, then this is your chance to voice your opinion. Visit http://www.low.org.uk/ to have your say. 28/05/06 Les yn sgorio dros Gymru / Les scores for Wales Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Les Davies ar ei berffomiadau dros dîm lled broffesiynol Cymru ym mhencampwriaeth y 4 gwlad yn Sussex dros yr wythnos ddiwethaf. Ar ôl cael ei wahodd i ymuno â'r garfan ar y funud olaf, ymddangosodd Les fel eilydd yn y ddwy gêm gyntaf - yn erbyn Lloegr a'r Alban. Wedi i Gymru guro'r Alban o 2-1 a chael gêm gyfartal (1-1) yn erbyn Lloegr, roedd yn bwysig sgorio cymaint o goliau â phosib yn y gêm olaf yn erbyn Iwerddon. Talodd penderfyniad Andy Beattie i roi Les yn y tîm o'r dechrau ar ei ganfed wrth i ymosodwr Porthmadog sgorio dwy gôl ac roedd y fuddigoliaeth yma'n ddigon i Gymru gipio'r bencampwriaeth. Mwy o luniau / More photos Huge congratulations to Les Davies on his performances for Wales' semi-pro side in the 4 nations tournament in Sussex over the last week. After being invited to join the squad at the last moment, Les made two appearances as a substitute against England and Scotland. After beating Scotland 2-1 and gaining a 1-1 draw against England, it was important to score as many as possible in the last game against Ireland. Andy Beattie's decision to pick Les in the starting line-up paid dividends as the Porthmadog striker scored twice to give Wales the win which was enough to clinch the championship. 23/05/06 Osian yn cael ei drwydded! / Osian gets his licence! Mewn cinio gwobrwyo yng Ngwesty’r Hilton yng Nghaerdydd wythnos diwethaf, cafodd cyd-reolwr Port, Osian Roberts, ei anrhydeddu gyda trwydded Pro-UEFA. Ef yw’r rheolwr cyntaf yng Nghynghrair Cymru i ennill y drwydded. Ymysg yr hyfforddwyr eraill i derbyn gwobr hyfforddiant uchaf UEFA, oedd rheolwr Coventry City Mickey Adams, cyn-reolwr Caerdydd Lennie Lawrence ac yr arwr Cymreig Ian Rush. “Yn amlwg, mae’n anrhydedd i ennill Trwydded Pro-UEFA gyda chymaint o hyfforddwyr profiadol a galluog. Gall gweithio gyda pobl fel Don Howe a Roy Hodgson ond fod yn fanteisiol imi” meddai Osian. Drwy wahoddiad yn unig y ceir ymgeisio am y Drwydded Pro-UEFA, ac mae wedi bod yn destun dadl fawr rhwng Cymdeithas Rheolwyr y Gynghrair a rheolwr Newcastle United, Glenn Roeder. Nid yw Osian, fel ei gyd-reolwr Viv, wedi cael cyfle i orffwys ers diwedd y tymor. Yr wythnos hon bydd yn sylwebu ar gêm dyngedfennol tîm dan-21 Cymru yn erbyn Estonia ar y Cae Ras. Bydd wedyn yn hedfan i Awstria ar gyfer gêm y tîm cenedlaethol yn erbyn Trinidad a Tobago – gwrthwynebwyr Lloegr yng Nghwpan y Byd. Joint Manager Osian Roberts became the first Manager in the Welsh Premier League to receive the prestigious UEFA Pro Licence in an Awards Dinner at the Hilton Hotel, Cardiff, last week. Osian was among an illustrious group of elite coaches which included Coventry City Manager Mickey Adams, ex Cardiff City Manager Lennie Lawrence, and Welsh legend Ian Rush to receive the highest coaching award. “It’s obviously an honour to achieve the UEFA Pro Licence, among so many experienced and capable coaches. To work with people such as Don Howe and Roy Hodgson can only be of benefit to me” said Osian. The Pro Licence is an invitation only Award, and has been the subject of a major disagreement recently between Newcastle United’s manager Glenn Roeder and the League Managers Association. Osian, like his colleague Viv, hasn’t had time to put his feet up during the close season. This week he’ll be commentating on the crucial Welsh U21 match at the Racecourse versus Estonia. He’ll then fly out to Austria for the Welsh senior match against England’s World Cup opponents Trinidad & Tobago. 16/05/06 Galwad i Les / Les gets the call Mae ffefryn Y Traeth, Les Davies wedi derbyn galwad hwyr i ymuno â charfan lled broffesiynol Cymru sy’n cyfarfod ddydd Sul ar gyfer y gystadleuaeth yn erbyn gwledydd eraill y Deyrnas Unedig ac Iwerddon. Synnwyd llawer yn y lle cyntaf pan nad oedd ei enw ymysg y garfan wreiddiol. Eglurodd Osian Roberts, cydweithiwr i Andy Beattie rheolwr tîm Cymru, fod enw Les wedi’i godi mewn sgwrs rhwng y ddau yr wythnos ddiwethaf yn ystod cynhadledd yr Ymddiriedolaeth Bêl Droed . Bu Roberts a Beattie yn gyd rheolwyr tîm merched dan 19 Cymru am dymor, cyn i Roberts ymddiswyddo i ganolbwyntio’n unig ar dimau ieuenctid y bechgyn. “Bu Andy a minnau yn sgwrsio ynglyn a’r siom a gafwyd wrth i Carl Owen orfod tynnu allan oherwydd yr anaf tymor hir i’w droed. Dywedais wrtho fy mod yn synnu nad oedd Les wedi’i ddewis gan ychwanegu ei fod wedi chwarae yn arbennig i ni yn ystod y tymor. Wrth i mi yrru yn ôl i’r gogledd daeth galwad ffôn wrth Andy yn dweud ei fod am gynnwys Les yn y garfan! “Rwy’n hapus iawn dros Les mae o’n haeddu hyn. Mae wedi bod yn wych i’w wylio ar brydiau eleni ac rwyf wedi fy mhlesio gan ei agwedd. Mae’n wych i’r clwb hefyd wrth inni unwaith eto gynhyrchu chwaraewr Lled Broffesiynol i Gymru. Pe byddai Carl yn iach wedyn fyddai gennym ddau chwaraewr yn y garfan.” Porthmadog FC favourite Les Davies has been given a late call – up into the Welsh semi-professional squad which meets up on Sunday for the Home Nations Tournament. Many heads were raised in the first instance when he wasn’t included in the squad. Porthmadog Joint Manager Osian Roberts, a colleague of Wales’ Manager Andy Beattie, explained that Les’ name came up in conversation between the two last week at an FAW Trust Conference. Roberts and Beattie were joint managers of the Welsh Ladies U19 Team for a season before Roberts resigned to concentrate solely on the male Youth Teams. “Andy and I spoke last week about the disappointment of Carl Owen having to pull out due to his long term foot injury. I then commented I couldn’t believe that he hadn’t selected our Les, and how well he’d done for us over the season. As I was driving back up to the north I got a phone call from Andy saying he wanted him in!” “I’m delighted for Les, he deserves it. He’s been wonderful to watch at times this season, and I’ve been really impressed with his attitude. It’s also great for the Club, as we yet again have produced a Welsh Semi Pro player, and if Carl were fit we’d have two players in there.” 09/05/06 Beth am Les? / What no Les? Beirniadodd Alun Evans, Cadeirydd Uwch Gynghrair Cymru, y dewisiadau ar gyfer tîm lled-broffesiynol Cymru yn hallt. Dim ond pump o chwaraewyr Uwch Gynghrair Cymru a gynhwyswyd gan Andy Beattie a John Relish mewn carfan sydd yn seiliedig ar y Conference yn Lloegr ac ar y cynghreiriau sy’n ei fwydo. Nid yw’r tîm rheoli yn gyfarwydd â chwaraewyr yn y gêm ddomestig yn Nghymru ac felly seliwyd y dewis ar yr hyn oeddent yn eu wybod. Mae Alun Evans hefyd yn cwestiynu’r diffyg cyfarwyddyd gan yr awdurdodau pêl droed yng Nghymru. Bydd cefnogwyr Porthmadog â diddordeb arbennig yn un o’r cwestiynau perthnasol a ofynnwyd gan y cadeirydd “ ... a ydy chwaraewyr fel Rhys Griffiths a Les Davies mewn gwirionedd yn salach?” Gall cefnogwyr Porthmadog ateb y cwestiwn hwn ar ei ben gan fod perfformiadau gwych Les yn sicr yn cyfiawnhau ei ddewis ac, ar ôl dioddef oddi wrth ddawn sgorio Rhys Griffiths, medrwn gefnogi Alun Evans yn hynny hefyd. Ychwanegodd, “Yn wahanol i’r gwledydd eraill, Cymru’n unig sydd wedi dewis chwaraewyr o’r tu allan i’w ffiniau gan anwybyddu pwrpas y gystadleuaeth. Dymunwn yn dda i’r garfan gan eu bod yn gwisgo’r crys coch ond tybed ai y garfan hon ydy’r gryfaf y gellir rhoi ar y maes i gynrychioli pêl droed yng Nghymru?” Welsh Premier Chairman, Alun Evans, slated the Wales semi-pro selection to take part in the home internationals. Andy Beattie and John Relish have included only five WPL players and instead based the selection on the English Conference and its feeder leagues. The management team are of course unfamiliar with the domestic scene and have based their selection on what they know. Alun Evans also questions the lack of guidelines from the governing body. Porthmadog supporters will be very interested in a very pertinent question asked by the chairman “…..are players like Rhys Griffiths or Les Davies really inferior?” Well Porthmadog supporters can readily answer that query. Les Davies’s excellent performances this season more than justify selection and, having been at the receiving end of Rhys Griffiths’s goal scoring exploits, we can also back Alun Evans on that one too. "Unlike the other nations, Wales alone will have selected players from outside its borders, which rejects the intention of the tournament. We wish our squad well because they wear the red jersey, but do they really represent the strength of Welsh football?" he added. 09/05/06 Nawdd i’r Academi gan Greenacres / Academy sponsored by Greenacres Roedd gan Academi CPD Porthmadog ddau reswm da dros ddathlu nos Fawrth diwethaf. Cyn y gêm gyfeillgar yn erbyn HVV Den Haag, yr ymwelwyr o’r Iseldiroedd, cafodd siec ei chyflwyno iddynt gan Barc Gwyliau Greenacres o Morfa Bychan. Roedd y siec yn rhan o nawdd gan Grwp Hamdden Bourne tuag at y cit newydd mewn coch a du, sef lliwiau enwog ac hanesyddol y clwb. Wedyn aeth yr Academi yn ei blaen i ennill y gêm yn erbyn yr ymwelwyr o’r Iseldiroedd o ddwy gôl i ddim. Yn y llun cyntaf, gwelir Cat Beckett, cynrychiolydd Greenacres, yn cyflwyno’r siec ym mhresenoldeb y garfan gyfan, i Osian Roberts, Cyfarwyddwr yr Academi, tra gwelir yn yr ail lun Cat Beckett gydag Osian Roberts a hefyd Robbie Taylor (chwith) a Mark Bridge (dde), dau o chwaraewyr yr Academi. Dywedodd Gerallt Owen, gweinyddwr yr Academi, ynglyn â’r nawdd, “Rydym yn ddiolchgar iawn i Greenacres am eu cymorth caredig at ddatblygiad ieuenctid yr ardal. Roedd yn dda fod yna achlysur mor arbennig i ddefnyddio’r cit am y tro cyntaf. Hefyd roedd yn ffordd dda i derfynu tymor yr Academi ac mae’n siwr y bydd pawb yn edrych ymlaen at ail gychwyn ym mis Medi.” Porthmadog Football Club Academy had double cause for celebration on Tuesday night. Prior to their friendly match against Dutch visiting side HVV Den Haag, they were presented with a sponsorship cheque from Greenacres Holiday Park in Morfa Bychan, which is part of the Bourne Leisure Group towards a brand new kit in the club’s famous black and red colours. Porthmadog Academy also went on to win the match against their Dutch opponents by two goals to nil. Pictured are Greenacres representative Cat Beckett presenting the cheque to Porthmadog FC Academy Director Osian Roberts with the whole squad for Tuesday night’s game. In the second photo, we see Greenacres representative, Cat Beckett, presenting the cheque to Porthmadog FC Academy Director Osian Roberts with two of the Academy players, Robbie Taylor (left) and Mark Bridge (right), looking on. Academy Administrator Gerallt Owen commenting on the sponsorship deal said "We are extremely grateful to Greenacres for their generous support of Youth development in the area. It was nice that the lads had the opportunity to wear a brand new kit on such an occasion. It was also an excellent end to the Academy season and I am sure all the lads will now be looking forward to the Academy restarting in September." 04/05/06 Ysgol Bel-droed Haf / Summer Soccer School Yn dilyn llwyddiant ysgubol yr Ysgol Bêl Droed dros y Pasg a drefnwyd gan CPD Porthmadog mewn cydweithrediad â Chlwb Chwaraeon Madog, cytunwyd bod ysgol bêl droed arall i’w chynnal ar Fehefin 1af a’r 2ail. Bydd yn cael ei chynnal unwaith eto yn y Clwb Chwaraeon rhwng 10am a 2pm ar y ddau ddiwrnod. Gellir cael ffurflenni cais o siop Chwaraeon Lleyn ym Mhorthmadog neu o Kaleidoscope ym Mhorthmadog. Unwaith eto, bydd rhai o chwaraewyr y tîm cyntaf yn cynorthwyo gyda hyfforddi’r plant ifanc rhwng 6 ac 14 oed. Cliciwch yma i lawr lwytho ffurflen pdf i’w hargraffu. Following the sweeping success of the Easter Soccer School run by Porthmadog FC in conjunction with Clwb Chwaraeon Madog, it has now been agreed that a further soccer school will be held on June 1st and 2nd. Again it will be held at Clwb Chwaraeon between 10am and 2pm over two days. Application forms are available at Lleyn Sports in the High Street in Porthmadog and at Kaleidoscope in Porthmadog. Again just like last time some Porthmadog First team players will be in attendance to coach the youngsters who should be aged 6 to 14. Click here to download a pdf application form for printing. 03/05/06 Gwobr Chwarae Teg / Fair Play Award Am yr ail dro mewn tri thymor Porthmadog oedd yr unig glwb yn uwch gynghrair Cymru i gwblhau’r tymor presennol heb i un o’u chwaraewyr gael ei yrru o’r cae. Mae ffigyrau a rhyddhawyd ar wefan y Welsh Premier www.welsh-premier.com yn cadarnhau’r ffaith nad oes yr un o chwaraewyr o Borthmadog wedi derbyn cerdyn coch eleni a hyn yn ailadrodd yr un gamp a wnaed yn 2003-04, sef tymor cyntaf Porthmadog yn ôl yn yr Uwchgynghrair. Yn y tymor hwnnw enillwyd y wobr Chwarae Teg ond y tro yma TNS sydd wedi cipio’r wobr honno er iddynt weld coch ar dri achlysur. Casglodd Porthmadog 31 o gardiau melyn i’w gymharu ac 17 cerdyn melyn TNS. For the second time in three seasons Porthmadog were the only side in the Welsh Premier League during the 2005-2006 season not to have a player sent off during the course of the season. Figures released by the Welsh Premier website www.welsh-premier.com confirm that Porthmadog had not receive a red card throughout the season, matching the feat achieved during the clubs first season back in the Welsh Premier in 2003-2004. Then Porthmadog won the Fair Play Award, but this time they have been pipped by TNS who despite receiving three red cards only had 17 yellow cards all season compared with Porthmadog's 31. 03/05/06 Cynghrair Dan 21: Cei Connah / U-21 League: Connah's Quay Bydd y tîm Dan 21 yn teithio i Gei Conna ddydd Sul nesaf gyda’r gic gyntaf am 2 pm . Symudwyd y gêm o gartref arferol y clwb yn Stadiwm Glannau Dyfrdwy a bydd yn cael ei chwarae ar gae ymarfer y clwb yn Dock Road, Cei Conna. I unrhyw un sydd yn bwriadu teithio i’r gêm, darparwyd y cyfarwyddiadau canlynol gan y clwb o Lannau Dyfrdwy. Cyfarwyddiadau i’r cae ymarfer o Goleg Glannau Dyfrdwy, Cei Conna: Trowch i’r dde allan o’r brif fynedfa ar hyd yr A548 i gyfeiriad Queensferry am tua ½ milltir. Yn fuan ar ôl mynd heibio Eglwys Sant Marc ar eich ochr dde, trowch i’r chwith ar waelod yr allt i Dock Road (arwydd i’r Ganolfan Ailgylchu) Trowch i’r dde o dan y bont rheilffordd. Dilynwch yr afon. Trowch i’r dde wrth ymyl pont fwa melyn a du. Ar ôl rhyw 200 llath, trowch i’r dde wrth ymyl y Sight and Label Centre (wrth y peilon ar yr ochr dde) a dilyn y ffordd i’r cae ymarfer. The Porthmadog Under 21's travel to Connah's Quay Nomads on Sunday for an U21 League match with a 2 pm kick off. The game has been moved away from the Nomads usual home at the Deeside Centre and will be played at the clubs training ground at Dock Road in Connah's Quay. For anyone wishing to go to the game the following directions from the Deeside Centre to Dock Street have been provided by Connah's Quay Nomads. Directions to Nomads Training Ground, Dock Rd, Connahs Quay From Deeside College, Connahs Quay: Turn right out of main gate, taking A548 main road towards Queensferry for about 1/2 mile. Shortly after passing St Marks church on RHS, take a left turn at the bottom of the hill onto Dock Rd (signposted Recycling Centre). Turn right under railway bridge. Follow road alongside the river. Turn right at yellow & black archway. After about 200 yds, turn right at the Sign & Label Centre (next to pylon on RHS) to take you to the training ground. 02/05/06 Porthmadog yn 11eg / Porthmadog 11th Sgoriodd Paul Roberts tri munud o’r diwedd i sicrhau buddugoliaeth o 3-2 yn erbyn Cwins y Grange ar faes Leckwith heddiw (Ebrill 29ain). Golyga hyn fod Porthmadog yn gorffen yn 11eg yn Uwchgynghrair Cymru sef y safle olaf i sicrhau lle yng Nghwpan Cenedlaethol y BBC. Yn wir, cyn chwaraewr Porthmadog sgoriodd bob un o goliau Bangor a hyn ar ôl iddynt fod tu ôl o 2-1 ar yr hanner. Mae Bangor yn gorffen yn y nawfed safle gyda Caersws yn ddegfed. Felly mae Porthmadog yn gorffen yn yr un safle â llynedd gyda un pwynt yn llai y tro hwn. Paul Roberts scored three minutes from time to secure a 3-2 win for Bangor City at the Leckwith Stadium against Grange Quins today (April 29th). This means that Porthmadog finish in the 11th spot in the WPL –the final qualifying position for the Premier Cup. Indeed it was the former Porthmadog striker who scored all three goals for Bangor and this after they had been 2-1 in arrears at the interval. Bangor therefore finish in 9th spot with Caersws 10th. Porthmadog occupy the same final position as last season but have picked up one point less on 44 points. 02/05/06 Dan 21: Trallwng 2, Porthmadog 0 / U-21 Welshpool 2, Porthmadog 0. Roedd hon yn gêm dda iawn rhwng dau dîm ifanc. Gall Porthmadog gyfrif eu hunain yn anffodus i ddod o’r Trallwng heb bwynt o gwbl gan iddynt greu nifer o gyfleodd da yn yr hanner cyntaf ac roedd Tom Hughes yn anlwcus iawn i weld taran o ergyd ganddo yn ysgwyd y trawst. Yn wir yn yr ail hanner hefyd chwaraeodd Porthmadog yn dda gyda’r golwr Darren Coates yn cael ychydig iawn i’w wneud. Er hynny nid oedd posib torri drwy amddiffyn effeithiol iawn y tîm cartref. This proved to be an excellent game between two young sides. Porthmadog can count themselves unlucky not to get something from the game. They created numerous chances in the first half with Tom Hughes unfortunate to see his powerful shot strike the crossbar. Indeed in the second half also Porthmadog continued to give a good account of themselves and keeper Darren Coates was hardly in action at all. Despite this Porthmadog failed to break down a very effective home defensive unit. Fel canlyniad i’w hymdrechion codwyd symiau mawr o arian at ddefnydd y clwb. Mae’r tri Martin, Maria a’r mab Simon yn teithio mor amal a phosib i’r Traeth i gefnogi’r clwb ac i’w gweld y gwerthu nwyddau yn yr hen gantîn. Yn y llun gwelir hwy yn derbyn cloc gan y cadeirydd Phil Jones A special presentation was made at the awards ceremony on Saturday in appreciation of the fund raising efforts by the Rookyard family of Manchester. Through their efforts large sums have been raised for the club. All three Martin, Maria and son Simon travel as often as possible to the Traeth to support the club and can been seen selling a variety of goods in the old canteen. They are pictured receiving a clock, from club chairman, Phil Jones, in recognition of their services. 18/04/06 Mel Charles yn dichwelyd i'r Traeth / Mel Charles returns to y Traeth Bron yn union hanner canrif yn ôl i ddydd Sadwrn, Ebrill 22ain, enillodd tîm oes aur y pumdegau Gwpan Amatur Cymru am y tro cyntaf. Curwyd Peritus –tîm o fyfyrwyr colegau Bangor- o 5-2 yn y ffeinal ar Ffordd Ffarar o flaen torf enfawr. Dyddiad y gêm oedd Ebrill 21ain 1956. Dydd Sadwrn nesaf bydd y chwaraewyr, a ymddangosodd yn rheolaidd o flaen torfeydd o dros fil ar Y Traeth, yn cyfarfod unwaith eto mewn aduniad. Codir pabell at yr achlysur drws nesaf i’r cae a bydd y dathliad yn cymryd lle rhwng canol dydd a 2 o’r gloch. Rhoddwyd gwahoddiad i’r tîm gwreiddiol ynghyd â sêr o gyfnodau eraill yn hanes y clwb. Y prif westai ar y dydd fydd Mel Charles, cyn chwaraewr Cymru, Abertawe, Arsenal a Phorthmadog. Yn dilyn y dathliad bydd tîm presennol Porthmadog yn chwarae Y Trallwng yng ngem olaf tymor 2005-06. Saturday, April 22nd 2006 marks, almost to the day, half a century ago when the Porthmadog team of the golden era of the fifties lifted the Welsh Amateur Cup for the first time beating Peritus –a combined Bangor colleges’ team- in front of a huge crowd at Farrar Road by 5-2. The date was April 21st 1956. Next Saturday the players, who regularly played at the Traeth in front of crowds in excess of a thousand, have been invited to a re-union at the ground. A marquee has been erected for the occasion and the celebration will take place between noon and 2 p.m. The original team as well as stars from other periods have been invited. The guest of honour will be Mel Charles the former Wales, Swansea and Arsenal star who played at the Traeth in the 1960s. Following the event, today’s team take on Welshpool Town, kick off 2.30 pm. 17/04/06 Tysteb a chontract i Mike / Testimonial and a contract for Mike Mike Foster yw’r nawfed chwaraewr i ymrwymo ei hun i Borthmadog ar gyfer y tymor nesaf a, gyda bron i dîm cyfan wedi arwyddo cytundeb yn barod, mae Viv ac Osian wedi sicrhau haf heb sibrydion am brif chwaraewyr yn gadael y clwb. Cafodd Mike fwy o newyddion ardderchog pan glywodd fod y clwb wedi penderfynu gwobrwyo ei ddyfalbarhad a’i ymroddiad gyda gêm dysteb a fydd yn cael ei chwarae cyn ddechrau’r tymor nesaf . Pryd hynny, gobeithir trefnu fod gwrthwynebwyr deniadol yn dod i’r Traeth. Bydd neb yn anghytuno â phenderfyniad y clwb i ddiolch i hogyn a gychwynnodd ei yrfa yn y tîm ieuenctid yn Port cyn symud i fod yn hyfforddai yn Tranmere Rovers. Dychwelodd i Borthmadog yn 1992 ar ddechrau tymor cyntaf y Gynghrair Cenedlaethol ac, ar wahân i gyfnodau gydag Aberystwyth a Bangor, mae wedi rhoi gwasanaeth arbennig i glwb ei dref enedigol. Eleni ymunodd â’r grwp dethol hwnnw sydd wedi chwarae fwy na 300 o gêmau yn y Gynghrair Genedlaethol gan brofi ei fod yn dal yn un o amddiffynwyr gorau’r gynghrair honno. Dim ond un gêm mae wedi methu yn nhymor 2005-06 gyda’i reolwr Viv Williams yn dweud amdano “Eleni mae Mike wedi cael un o’i dymhorau gorau erioed i Borthmadog.” Pan gyrhaeddodd Mike y 300, dywedodd Viv “Mae Mike ymysg goreuon y gynghrair wrth drin pêl ac rwy’n siwr y’i gwelwn yn chwarae am sawl tymor eto – wedi’r cyfan mae Clayton Blackmore dros ei 40 ac yn dal i chwarae!” Mike Foster became the ninth player to commit himself to Porthmadog for next season when he signed a contract over the weekend. With approaching a full team already signed and sealed, Viv and Osian have ensured a close season without speculation concerning leading players leaving the club. There was further excellent news for long serving Mike Foster in that the club has awarded him a testimonial as a reward for his services to his home town club. This will take the form of a testimonial match at the Traeth which it is hoped will be played in the run up to next season and will involve attractive opposition. Few will disagree that this is well deserved for a player who came through the youth ranks at Porthmadog before joining Tranmere Rovers as an apprentice. He returned to Porthmadog in 1992 with the commencement of the then League of Wales and, apart from spells with Aberystwyth Town and Bangor City, he has given remarkable service to CPD Porthmadog. This season he joined that select band of players who have made in excess of 300 appearances in the WPL and has proved himself to be one of the outstanding defenders of the league. In season 2005-06, he has missed only one game and joint-manager Viv Williams commented “This has been one of his best ever seasons for Porthmadog.” When Mike achieved the 300 appearances Viv said of him “Mike remains one of the best ball players in the league and I am sure he has a few more seasons in him –look at Clayton Blackmore still playing at 40 plus.” |
