23/05/07 Port yn Ffeinal Tarian Eryri / Port in Eryri Shield Final Llongyfarchiadau i’r ail dîm ar gyrraedd rownd derfynol cystadleuaeth Tarian Eryri. Yn y rownd gyn-derfynol nos Lun, Mai 21 curwyd Biwmares o 3-1. Roedd hwn yn ganlyniad da iawn yn erbyn tîm sydd eisoes eleni wedi ennill Cwpan John Smith a hefyd Cwpan Iau y Gogledd. Ar ôl bod tu ôl am gyfnod, daeth Mark Cooke â Port yn gyfartal ar ôl 33 munud a phum munud yn ddiweddarach aethant ar y blaen diolch i gic o’r smotyn gan Iwan Thomas. Yn hwyr yn yr ail hanner, ychwanegodd Tom Hughes drydedd gôl i wneud y lle yn y Ffeinal yn sicr. Nid hawdd fu cyrraedd y rownd cynderfynol a bu’n rhaid curo’r Bermo, pencampwyr Cynghrair Gwynedd 2006-07. Mewn gêm galed yn erbyn y pencampwyr, daeth y fuddugoliaeth diolch i unig gôl y gêm gan Arwel Evans yn yr ail hanner. Cynhelir y rownd derfynol ar 30 Mai ond nid yw eto’n sicr ar ba faes -er fod y gynghrair yn gobeithio y bydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae yng Nghaernarfon, ar yr Oval. Y gwrthwynebwyr fydd Hotspyrs Caergybi, sydd yn cael eu rheoli gan Campbell Harrison, a gurodd Amlwch yn y rownd gyn-derfynol arall. Geraint Evans Congratulations to the reserves who have reached the final of the Eryri Shield beating Beaumaris in the semi final on Monday, 21 May by 3-1. This was an excellent result against a team that has already won the John Smith Cup and the North Wales Junior Cup this season. Having been behind for a period, they drew level, thanks to Mark Cooke’s 33rd minute equaliser, and then went ahead five minutes later when Iwan Thomas scored from the spot. Their place in the final was sealed, late in the second half, when Tom Hughes scored the third. To reach the semi-final, Port had to overcome the Gwynedd League Champions, Barmouth and Dyffryn, in a close encounter by 1-0, thanks to a second half winner from Arwel Evans. The final will be played on 30 May but the venue has yet to be finalised, though it is hoped to play the game on the Oval at Caernarfon. Port’s opponents in the final will be Holyhead Hotspurs managed by former Port player Campbell Harrison. The Hotspurs overcame Amlwch Town in the other semi-final. Geraint Evans 19/05/07 Blackmore yn dewis is-reolwr / Blackmore appoints assistant Symudodd y clwb yn gyflym i lenwi’r swyddi a adawyd yn wag gyda ymadawiad Osian Roberts a Viv Williams. Yn dilyn enwi Clayton Blackmore fel rheolwr, daeth newyddion da pellach fod Blackmore, sydd yn hyfforddwr profiadol gyda chymwysterau uchel, yn debygol o lenwi swydd Cyfarwyddwr yr Academi. Nid yw fawr o syndod chwaith fod Blackmore wedi apwyntio Stephen Owen i’w gynorthwyo fel is-reolwr. Bu Owen, cyn golwr ac hyfforddwr profiadol, yn cynorthwyo Blackmore ym Mangor. Chwaraeodd Owen 13 o weithiau fel golwr yn UGC gan gynnwys 6 gwaith i Borthmadog yn 1992-93. Ymysg ei glybiau eraill ’roedd Caernarfon a Bangor. The club has moved quickly to fill in the backroom staff left vacant by the departure of Osian Roberts and Viv Williams. Having named Clayton Blackmore as the manager, the added good news is that Blackmore, an experienced and highly qualified coach, will also take over as Director of the Academy. It is probably not a surprise that Blackmore has appointed Stephen Owen as his assistant. Owen, who also assisted Blackmore at Bangor City, is an experienced coach and a former goalkeeper who made 13 WPL appearances including 6 for Porthmadog in season 1992-93. Owen also appeared briefly for Caernarfon Town and Bangor City. 15/05/07 Cosbi am ei gonestrwydd / Port punished for being honest “Camgymeriad Port oedd i weithredu. Pe byddent wedi dweud nad oeddent yn gwybod dim am y peth, ni fyddai digon o dystiolaeth,” oedd sylw Alun Evans cyn ysgrifennydd cyffredinol y Gymdeithas Bêl Droed heno (15 Mai) wrth gondemnio’r broses ddisgyblu a weithredwyd gan y Gymdeithas wrth ymwneud a CPD Porthmadog. Mewn iaith syml glir - pan fyddwch yn ymwneud a’r Gymdeithas Bêl Droed nid ffordd gonestrwydd yw yr un orau i'w dilyn. Doedd hi ddim yn syndod felly i glywed cadeirydd y clwb Phil Jones, ar ôl iddo ddangos anghysondeb y penderfyniad, yn galw am ymddiswyddiad David Collins gan dynnu sylw at y smonach a wnaeth o’r broses ddisgyblu ac o faterion eraill. Er nad aeth Alun Evans mor bell a roi cefnogaeth i’r alwad roedd ei ymateb yn bell o fod yn bleidlais o hyder ynddo. Ychwanegodd Alun Evans fod y Gymdeithas Bêl Droed “ ... wedi mynd yn rhy bell ac wedi camddehongli’r y sefyllfa.” Tynnodd sylw hefyd at y gwendidau yn y broses wreiddiol gan ddweud nad oedd y panel wedi cael eu gwneud yn ymwybodol o’r holl amrediad o bwerau roedd ar gael iddynt wrth ddelio a’r mater. Daeth mwy o gefnogaeth oddi wrth Nic Parry twrnai’r clwb a ddywedodd am Port wrth Byd ar Bedwar, “Mae nhw wedi ymddwyn mewn ffordd sy’n esiampl i glybiau eraill.” Ymhellach ynglŷn a’r mater hwn mae gan y Wefan hon dystiolaeth bendant fydd yn dangos mor ffug ydy ymateb y Gymdeithas i hiliaeth. Gwyliwch y wefan! “Port’s mistake was to actually act. If they’d said 'we know nothing at all about it', there would have been a lack of evidence,” was former FAW General Secretary Alun Evans’s denunciation of the disciplinary process applied by the FAW in respect of Porthmadog. In simple straight forward language - when you deal with the FAW honesty is certainly not the best policy. It is little wonder in the circumstances that Port Chairman Phil Jones, who after exposing the total inconsistency of the decision, called for David Collins’ resignation citing the mess he has made of this disciplinary process and other matters. Though Alun Evans did not go so far as to support this call, his was hardly a ringing endorsement of the current General Secretary. He added that the FAW “...had overstepped the mark and misjudged the situation.” He also highlighted the weaknesses of the original process saying “The panel were ill-served (and) ..not aware of the range of their powers.” Further clear support in this excellent ‘Byd ar Bedwar’ programme screened on S4C tonight (15 May) came from Port’s legal representative Nic Parry who said, “The way in which Port had dealt with the matter was an example to other clubs.” This website has further evidence in its possession which will further expose the sham which is the FAW’s get tough with racism policy. Watch this space! 15/05/07 Dim lle i CPD Porthmadog / No place for Port Dim lwc i CPD Porthmadog pan ddaeth yr enwau allan o’r het i ddewis dau glwb i gael mynediad i rownd rhagbrofol Cwpan UEFA. Enwau Norwy a’r Ffindir ddaeth allan o’r het heddiw (15 Mai) yn Parc Hampden yn Glasgow. Defnyddir Trefn Chwarae Teg UEFA ar gyfer y tri lle olaf yn y gystadleuaeth. Eisoes roedd clwb o Sweden wedi ennill lle wrth i gymdeithas y wlad honno sicrhau y record Chwarae Teg orau o’r holl wledydd yn UEFA. Aeth deg o enwau i’r het heddiw ar gyfer y ddau le olaf. There was no UEFA place for Porthmadog via the Fair Play Ballot in the draw made today (15 May) at Hampden Park in Glasgow. The lucky last two places went to clubs from Norway and Finland. The UEFA Fair Play rankings are used to grant three places in the qualifying round of the UEFA Cup. The third spot had already been awarded to Sweden –the association with the best overall record. 10 names went into the hat for today’s draw. 14/05/07 Achos hiliaeth Porthmadog ar y Byd ar Bedwar ar S4C / Port's racism case on S4C's Byd ar Bedwar Nos yfory (15/5/07) am 8.25 ar S4C, bydd rhifyn yr wythnos o’r Byd ar Bedwar, rhaglen materion cyfoes y sianel, yn ymchwilio i hiliaeth mewn Pêl-droed gan ganolbwyntio yn benodol ar achos Port. Deallir y bydd y rhaglen yn cwestiynu a yw ymateb eithafol Cymdeithas Bêl-droed Cymru wedi gwaethygu problem hiliaeth ym myd y bêl gron a’i peidio. Tomorrow night (15/5/07) at 8.25 on S4C, this week’s edition of the Byd ar Bedwar, the channel’s current affairs programme, investigates racism in Football concentrating specifically on the Port case. It is understood that the programme will question whether or not the Football Association of Wales’ extreme response will worsen the problem of racism in football. 14/05/07 Yr Ail Dîm ym Mis Ebrill / The reserves in April Ar ôl colli tair gwaith ar ddiwedd mis Mawrth, roedd yr ail dîm yn ôl ar eu gorau yn sicrhau tair buddugoliaeth yn olynol ym mis Ebrill. Yn y gyntaf o’r gêmau yma, curwyd Bontnewydd ar Y Traeth o 2-0 gyda goliau gan Iestyn Woolway ac Iwan Thomas yn ystod yr ail hanner yn sicrhau y triphwynt. Tri diwrnod yn ddiweddarach, cafwyd perfformiad hyd yn oed gwell i ffwrdd yn Llangefni gan guro o 4-1 diolch i ddwy gôl gan Mark Cook ac un yr un oddi wrth Iestyn Woolway a Mark Bridge. Cafwyd y fuddugoliaeth arall o 2-1 yn Llanfairfechan. After three defeats at the end of March the reserves returned to their best form with three straight victories in April. The first of these was a 2-0 home win against Bontnewydd with second half goals by Iestyn Woolway and Iwan Thomas securing the three points. Three days later came an even better performance at Llangefni with Port running out clear winners by 4-1 with Mark Cook scoring twice and the other goals coming from Iestyn Woolway and Mark Bridge. Another away win was achieved at the expense of Llanfairfechan this time by 2-1. 11/05/07 Ffarwel a diolch: Viv ac Osian / Thanks and Farewell: Viv and Osian Dynodwyd ymadawiad Viv ac Osian o’r Traeth yn hollol gywir gan Phil Jones, y cadeirydd, fel diwedd cyfnod. Apwyntiwyd Viv fel rheolwr dros dro yn 2000 a bron yn syth roeddem yn synhwyro fod y dyddiau di ddim drosodd. Y fuan daeth Osian i ymuno â Viv ac roedd awelon newid yn dechrau chwythu drwy glwb a oedd wedi disgyn allan o UGC ac yn brysur mynd i nunlle yn y Cymru Alliance. Roedd y cyfnod hir, ansefydlog ers ymadawiad Meilir Owen bellach drosodd. Roedd ’na chwyldro mewn dulliau chwarae a ffitrwydd ac yn fuan iawn roedd y mwyaf talentog o’r chwaraewyr lleol unwaith eto am wisgo crys Port. Ar ôl gosod y seiliau, daeth tymor rhyfeddol 2003-04 pan gododd y clwb yn ôl i’r Uwch Gynghrair. Yn y gêm ddiwethaf ond un o’r tymor y collwyd am y tro cyntaf. Mae cnewyllyn y tîm hwnnw yn dal ar Y Traeth a gyda rheoli doeth sicrhawyd fod y clwb yn aros yn yr Uwch Gynghrair heb fawr o drafferth. Nid llwyddiant bychan fu hyn gan fod arian bob amser yn beth prin ar Y Traeth. Bu tymor 2006-07 yn un lle disgleiriodd y clwb yng nghystadlaethau cwpan a profwyd fod ganddynt y gallu i guro’r gorau yn y gynghrair. Roedd gan y ddau gynlluniau at y dyfodol. Ofer ydy sôn am hynny rŵan ond yn sicr maent yn bartneriaeth anodd i’w dilyn a gadawsant ar eu hôl seiliau da i’w olynydd adeiladu arnynt. Club Chairman Phil Jones marked the end of the ‘Viv and Osian’ reign at the Traeth quite correctly as the end of an era. Viv was appointed caretaker manager in 2000 and almost immediately you sensed that the decline of the club was about to be arrested. He was soon joined by Osian and the winds of change started to blow through a club which had dropped out of the WPL and was going nowhere in the Cymru Alliance. The long period of instability which followed the departure of Meilir Owen was now over. There was a revolution in playing style and fitness and the most talented of local players once more wanted to pull on a Porthmadog shirt. After laying the foundations came the remarkable season of 2003-04 with promotion to the WPL the end product. It was only in the penultimate game of that fantastic season that the club suffered its first defeat. The nucleus of that team remains at the Traeth and by astute management the club has comfortably retained WPL status. This is no small achievement as cash is always likely to be a scarce commodity at this club. Season 2006-07 has been one where the club has shone in cup competitions and have shown that they are capable of mixing it with the best in the league. Osian and Viv had plans drawn up for the future but that is another story. One thing is sure, they are a hard act to follow but they have left a solid platform for their successor to build on. 11/05/07 Tristwch o golli Llywydd / Passing of Club President Gyda thristwch, rhaid cofnodi marwolaeth Bill Pike yng nghynt yn yr wythnos yn 74 oed. Bu’n llywydd CPD Porthmadog ers 1967. Bu hefyd yn un o ymddiriedolwyr Y Traeth ers 1967. Roedd Bill Pike yn un o garedigion mwyaf y clwb gan gyfrannu’n hael iawn yn ariannol dros nifer fawr o flynyddoedd fel y gwnaeth i nifer o fudiadau lleol eraill. Roedd clywed am ei farwolaeth yn gryn sioc gan ei fod yn dal i weithio yn ei siop bapur newydd adnabyddus bob dydd -er ei fod wedi ymddeol. Carem gydnabod diolchgarwch y clwb am ei haelioni mawr dros gyfnod hir o amser ac hefyd estyn ein cydymdeimlad llwyraf â’r teulu yn eu colled. It is with sadness that we record the passing of Bill Pike earlier this week at the age of 74. He had been president of Porthmadog FC since 1967. He also became a trustee of The Traeth in the same year. Bill Pike was a generous benefactor of the club as he was of many other local organisations. His passing was very sudden for, although he had retired from his well-known newsagent shop, he still worked there on a regular basis. We would like to place on record the gratitude of the club for his unfailing support and generosity over a long period and we extend our sincere sympathy to his family in their sad loss. 10/05/07 Chwarae teg - bosib bydd Port yn Ewrop! / Fair play - Port might be in Europe! Bydd clwb o Gymru ymysg y deg ac yn ôl tabl answyddogol gwefan www.welsh-premier.com Port Talbot neu CPD Porthmadog bydd y clwb hwnnw. Bydd y tabl swyddogol yn cymryd i ystyriaeth pa mor ddrwg ydy’r troseddau cerdyn coch ac felly mae’n anodd mesur pa un o’r ddau glwb fydd yn yr het. Un ffaith a all fynd o blaid Porthmadog yw fod Port Talbot wedi methu yn eu cais am 'drwydded UEFA' ar y cynnig cyntaf, ac felly o bosib fydden nhw ddim yn cael cystadlu yn Ewrop. Rhaid aros i weld! A draw will be made on 15 May by UEFA for two extra places in next season’s UEFA Cup competition (more details from www.uefa.com). A club from each of the ten countries with the best overall fair-play records will be entered in the draw. A Welsh club will be amongst the ten and, according to the unofficial fair-play table of the www.welsh-premier.com website, Port Talbot or Porthmadog will be the Welsh name in the hat. The official rankings however take the severity of red card offences into consideration so it is difficult to ascertain which club will enter the draw. One fact that might go in Porthmadog's favour is that Port Talbot did not initially achieve an 'UEFA licence' and might therefore not be eligible to play in Europe. We shall have to wait and see! 08/05/07 Dave yn cyflwyno'r ddeiseb i'r FAW / Dave delivers the petition to the FAW Yn dilyn taith o 160 milltir ar ei feic - o'r Traeth ym Mhorthmadog i'r pencadlys newydd sbon yr FAW ym Mae Caerdydd - cyflwynodd Dave Lloyd ddeiseb CPD Porthmadog i'r FAW. Bwriad Dave oedd tynnu sylw at annhegwch cosb yr FAW yn dilyn digwyddiad hiliol ar y Traeth yn ôl yn 2006. Llongyfarchiadau i Dave am ei ymdrechion a gobeithio y bydd y brotest yn gwneud chydig y newid meddyliau penaethiaid yr FAW. Following an epic bike journey of 160 miles - from the Traeth in Porthmadog to the FAW's brand-new headquarters in Cardiff Bay - Dave Lloyd presented the FAW with Porthmadog FC's petition. Dave's intention was to draw attention to the unfairness of the FAW's punishment following a racist incident at the Traeth during 2006. Congratulations to Dave for his efforts and let's hope that the protest will go some way to changing the FAW chief's minds. 07/05/07 Clayton yn reolwr wrth i Viv ac Osian adael / Clayton installed as manager as Viv and Osian leave Mae Clayton Blackmore wedi’i benodi yn rheolwr CPD Porthmadog yn dilyn apwyntiad Osian Roberts yn Gyfarwyddwr Technegol y Gymdeithas Bêl Droed. Am resymau personol yn bennaf, mae’r is-reolwr Viv Williams hefyd wedi penderfynu roi’r gorau i’w swydd. Bu Viv yn rhan o reolaeth y clwb ers iddo gael ei apwyntio yn rheolwr ar Port yn 2000 ac wedyn rhannu’r cyfrifoldebau gyda Osian Roberts. Wrth wneud y cyhoeddiad, dywedodd y Cadeirydd Phil Jones fod aelodau’r bwrdd wedi cyfarfod â’r tîm rheoli presennol dros y penwythnos. “Roedd yn achlysur chwerw felys gan ein bod yn hapus iawn am ddyrchafiad Osian i un o’r swyddi strategol mwyaf pwysig ynglŷn â datblygiad y gêm yng Nghymru . Ond hefyd rydym yn drist iawn i weld diwedd ar gyfnod allweddol yn hanes y clwb. Dros y cyfnod o saith mlynedd y mae Viv ac Osian wedi bod yn rheoli, gwelsom y clwb yn gwneud camau breision ymlaen er ein bod heb yr adnoddau ariannol sydd gan y mwyafrif o glybiau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Maent wedi moldio carfan o chwaraewyr lleol, talentog y byddai llawer o glybiau yn dymuno’i gael. Hefyd crëwyd graddfa uchel o broffesiynoldeb ar y cae ac oddi ar y cae ac mae hyn wedi cael dylanwad ar y Bwrdd hefyd. Un cysur i ni yw nad ydym wedi cael unrhyw anghytuno gyda’r ddau ac rŷm wedi gallu eu cefnogi yn llwyr bob amser. Mae croeso cynnes i Viv ac Osian i’r Traeth ar unrhyw adeg.” “Yn dilyn ein cyfarfod gyda Viv ac Osian, gwnaethom gyfarfod gyda Clayton Blackmore sydd wrth gwrs wedi bod yn chwarae i Borthmadog ac rŷm yn fwy na balch i gyhoeddi ei fod wedi derbyn y swydd ac y bydd yn cychwyn ar ei waith yr wythnos hon. Mae Clayton wedi cael ei gymeradwyo i’r clwb gan y tîm rheoli presennol ac mae’n dal trwydded hyfforddi ‘A’, UEFA ac mae’n brofiadol iawn gyda phrofiad rhyngwladol a phrofiad yn Uwch Gynghrair Lloegr ac mae eisoes wedi creu argraff dda ar y Bwrdd gyda’i gynlluniau. Bydd gan Clayton garfan sefydlog gyda’r rhan fwyaf o’r garfan bresennol wedi’u harwyddo a bydd hefyd yn cael cefnogaeth y Bwrdd i gryfhau ymhellach. Colli Viv ac Osian oedd y peth diwethaf roeddem yn dymuno ond y bonws mawr yw fod Clayton yma i gymryd drosodd yn ddigynnwrf.” Clayton Blackmore has been installed as Porthmadog FC’s manager following the recent appointment of current incumbent Osian Roberts as the Football Association of Wales new Technical Director of Football. Roberts’ assistant Viv Williams, who was originally appointed as Porthmadog’s manager in 2000 and then shared the managerial responsibilities for several years with Roberts, has also decided to call it a day primarily for personal reasons. Making the announcement the Club’s Chairman Phil Jones said that his board members had met with the current management team over the weekend. “This was a bitter sweet occasion as we are all extremely pleased for Osian, his new post being one of the most strategically important in Wales as regards the development of grass roots football. But we were all deeply saddened as this is the end of a crucial era in the history of the club. Over the seven years that Viv and Osian have been at the healm we have seen the club take giant strides forward despite the fact that we have not had the kind of financial resources that most clubs in the Welsh Premier League have. They have moulded a squad of talented locally based players which many a club would give their right arm for. They have also instilled a high degree of professionalism both on and off the field which has also had an effect on us as a Board. One consolation we have is that over that seven year period we have never fallen out with the pair and have been able to give them our full backing. Both Viv and Osian will be warmly welcomed at the Traeth at any time.” “After our meeting with Osian and Viv we met with Clayton Blackmore who, of course, has been a player at Porthmadog since late last year and are more than glad to announce that he has accepted the post and will be in charge as of this week Clayton came with the recommendation of our current management team, he is a qualified EUFA A Licence coach, is a very experienced player who has vast English Premiership and Welsh international experience and has already impressed us as a Board with his plans for the club. Clayton will inherit a stable squad, the vast majority of whom have already signed for next season and will also receive the Board’s support to strengthen it. The last thing we wanted was to see Viv and Osian go but the big compensation we have is that Clayton can now take the reins without disruption”. 07/05/07 Caerfyrddin yn gwneud ffafr â Phorthmadog / Carmarthen do Porthmadog a favour Enillwyd Cwpan Cymru gan Gaerfyrddin ddoe (6 Mai) gyda buddugoliaeth o 3-2 dros Lido Afan mewn gêm gyffrous, ardderchog yn Llanelli, ar gae Stebonheath. Wrth godi’r gwpan, gwnaeth Caerfyrddin ffafr fawr â chlwb Porthmadog oherwydd bydd y ffaith fod Lido Afan wedi colli yn sicrhau fod yr 11eg safle yn UGC, bellach yn ddigon da i sicrhau mynediad i gystadleuaeth y BBC ar gyfer y tymor nesaf (gwerth o leiaf £5,000 i'r clwb). Mae dyfodol y gystadleuaeth hon hefyd yn edrych yn sicr yn dilyn cais gwerth £10 miliwn gan y BBC a fydd yn cynnwys dychwelyd gêmau rhyngwladol Cymru o gwmni’r darlledwyr lloeren, Sky, i deledu daearol. Carmarthen won the Welsh Cup yesterday (6 May) at Stebonheath Park, Llanelli by 3-2 over Welsh League opponents Afan Lido in an excellent entertaining final. By doing so, they did Porthmadog a huge favour as it means that the 11th spot in the WPL will now be enough to ensure entry to next season’s lucrative Premier Cup (worth at least £5,000 to the club) – a competition whose future seems assured as the BBC prepare a bid to return coverage of Welsh international games from satellite broadcaster Sky to terrestrial screens with a £10 million package -according to the Western Mail. 06/05/07 Y Gorau yng Nghymru! / Best in Wales! Mae “Welsh Football Magazine” wedi cyhoeddi enillwyr eu gwobrau blynyddol i wefannau clybiau pêl droed. Noddir y gwobrau gan SEVERN MEDIA GROUP. Mae’r cylchgrawn misol wedi bod yn cyflwyno’r gwobrau yma i wefannau ac hefyd i raglenni am nifer o flynyddoedd ac eleni CPD Porthmadog sydd wedi ennill y wobr am “Y Gorau yng Nghymru” yn 2006-07. Yn ei ddyfarniad mae golygydd y cylchgrawn, David Collins, yn dweud: “Yn dilyn llawer o ymweliadau i gymharu a gwirio teimlaf fod rhaid i’r wobr am y Safle Gwe Gorau am eleni fynd i CPD Porthmadog, safle sydd wedi ennill o’r blaen, ddwy waith mewn gwirionedd, yn 1999 a 2000. Mae’r cyfan wedi’i osod yn glir, y wybodaeth yn cael ei ddiweddaru’n reolaidd gydag adroddiadau llawn am y gêmau gan gynnwys lluniau ac hefyd siop ar-lein broffesiynol sy’n gwerthu nwyddau’r clwb. Mae’r cyfan yma yn gwneud hwn yn safle arbennig sydd y haeddu ennill unwaith yn rhagor.” Dywed y cyd wefeistr Emyr Gareth “Er ein bod wedi ennill y wobr hon yn nyddiau cynnar y wefan, mae’n dda cael y gydnabyddiaeth hon ar ôl i’r wefan ddatblygu llawer dros y blynyddoedd.” Ychwanegodd Iwan Gareth “Mae yna nifer o wefannau ardderchog yng Nghymru ac mae ganddynt rôl bwysig er mwyn rhoi mwy o sylw i bêl droed Cynghrair Cymru.” Cofiwch fod Welsh Football Magazine ar gael bob mis yn siop y clwb. Welsh Football Magazine have announced the winners of their annual club website awards sponsored by SEVERN MEDIA GROUP. The monthly magazine has been making these awards to club websites and match programmes for many years and we are pleased to say that the Porthmadog FC site has won the “Best in Wales” award for 2006-2007. David Collins, the editor of Welsh Football Magazine, adjudicates as follows: "After several revisits, cross checks and comparisons I feel that this year’s BEST CLUB WEBSITE award must go to Porthmadog, a winner before, twice actually in 1999 and 2000. The clear layout, the up-to-date information, plus the comprehensive match reports with photos, as well as a professional standard online merchandise shop, all makes this an outstanding site and worthy repeat winners" Joint webmaster Emyr Gareth said “Though we won this award in the early days of the website, it is very satisfying to gain this recognition, now that the site has been developed considerably.” Iwan Gareth added “There are many excellent websites in Welsh football and we all have a major role to play in filling the gap in information about our sport.” Remember the Welsh Football magazine is available at the Club Shop every month. 04/05/07 Swydd newydd i Osian / New appointment for Osian Ddoe ( 3 Mai) apwyntiwyd Osian Roberts, rheolwr Porthmadog, i swydd, Cyfarwyddwr Technegol, Cymdeithas Pêl Droed Cymru sydd yn golygu ei fod yn cymryd cyfrifoldeb am ddatblygiad y gêm yng Nghymru o’r gwaelod i fyny at lefel rhyngwladol. Ar hyn o bryd, mae’n dal y swydd o Swyddog Datblygu Pêl Droed ar Ynys Môn ac mae’n hyfforddwr sydd â chymwysterau uchel iawn. Yn ogystal, mae wedi cymryd gofal o nifer o dimau ieuenctid Cymru. Apwyntiwyd Osian o flaen Ian Rush a Barry Horne dau gyn chwaraewr â phroffil uchel. Llongyfarchiadau mawr iddo. Porthmadog manager Osian Roberts was yesterday (3 May) appointed the Football Association of Wales’s Technical Director of Football which means that he will take charge of the development of the game throughout Wales from the grass roots upwards to international level. Currently he is Anglesey’s Football Development Officer and is a highly qualified coach. In addition, he has taken charge of a wide range of Welsh age group squads. He was appointed to the post ahead of high profile former players Ian Rush and Barry Horne. We congratulate him on his success. 04/05/07 Les ddim ar gael i’r tîm Lled broffesiynol / Les unavailable for Wales Semi-pros Enwodd Tony Pennock, rheolwr tîm Lled broffesiynol Cymru, Les Davies yn ei garfan wreiddiol ar gyfer y twrnament pedair gwlad ond yn anffodus nid yw Les ar gael eleni ac mae wedi gorfod gwrthod y cynnig. Les oedd un o sêr Cymru yn y twrnament yn 2005-06. Tynnodd Lee Kendall (Hwlffordd) a Scott Ruscoe (TNS) yn ôl hefyd sydd yn gadael 6 o chwaraewyr UGC yn y garfan o 18. Tony Pennock, the Welsh Semi-pro manager, named Les Davies in his original squad of 18 for the four nation tournament but unfortunately Les has had to declare himself unavailable this year and has withdrawn from the squad. Les turned in a star performance in the 2005-06 tournament. Lee Kendall(Haverfordwest) and Scott Ruscoe (TNS) have also withdrawn and that leaves the WPL with a representation of six players in the final squad. 04/05/07 Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn / Player of the Year Mae’r amser wedi dod i’r ddefod flynyddol o ddewis Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn. Eleni dewis clir y cefnogwyr oedd yr amddiffynnwr canol ifanc, dawnus Rhys Roberts. A phwy tybed oedd dewis y chwaraewyr fel eu Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn? Wel neb llai na Ryan Davies capten y clwb a phartner Rhys yng nghanol yr amddiffyn. Mae perfformiadau’r ddau fel unigolion ac fel partneriaeth ar hyd y tymor wedi llawn haeddu’r gwobrau. Blwyddyn yr amddiffynwyr felly bu 2006-07 ac i gadarnhau hynny ail yn rhestr y cefnogwyr oedd y golwr Richard Harvey. Gwelir Rhys a Ryan yn y llun lle roeddynt yn diolch i Enid a Rose am safon uchel y bwyd a dderbyniodd y chwaraewyr yn dilyn gêmau ar Y Traeth. Diolchwyd i’r ddwy hefyd am eu gwaith caled yn rhedeg cantîn y clwb ar ddiwrnod gêmau. The time has come to perform the annual ritual of selecting the Player of the Year for 2006-07. This year the supporters chose, by a clear margin, the young talented central defender Rhys Roberts. And who was the players’ selection as their Player of the Year? None less than Rhys’s partner at the heart of the defence and the club skipper Ryan Davies. Both players have been outstanding this season both as individuals and as a defensive partnership and they fully deserve their awards. This has been the year of the defenders and to confirm this, in second place on the supporters list, was the goalkeeper Richard Harvey. In the photograph we have Rhys and Ryan thanking Enid and Rose for the high standard of food which the players receive after matches at the Traeth. Both Enid and Rose were also thanked for their hard work organising and running the club canteen on match days. 29/04/07 Iwan yn cwblhau'r Marathon / Iwan completes the Marathon Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Iwan Williams am gwblhau Marathon Llundain mewn amser gwych – 3 awr 19 munud 13 eiliad! Mae Dave Lloyd, sy'n gefnogwr brwd, yn gobeithio cwblhau y daith o tua 160 milltir o'r Traeth at bencadlys newydd yr FAW ym Mae Caerdydd er mwyn tynnu sylw at y gosb afresymol a dderbyniodd CPD Porthmadog oherwydd gweithred un person. Bydd Dave yn cyflwyno deiseb i'r FAW gyda dros 750 o enwau arni - yn galw ar yr FAW i newid eu penderfyniad a derbyn fod CPD Porthmadog wedi cymryd camau cryf yn erbyn hiliaeth. Mae Dave hefyd yn gobeithio casglu nawdd er mwyn helpu i dalu costau apelio yn erbyn penderfyniad yr FAW. Gallwch wneud cyfraniadau dros y we gan ddefnyddio eich cerdyn credyd- mwy o fanylion. On Saturday the 5th May, Porthmadog FA will take the protest against the FAW's disproportionate punishment all the way to Cardiff. Avid supporter Dave Lloyd will hope to complete the 160 mile journey from the Traeth to the FAW's gleaming new headquarters in Cardiff Bay to draw attention to the unreasonable punishment dished out to Porthmadog FC for the actions of one individual. Dave will present the FAW with a petition with over 750 names on it - calling for the FAW to change their decision and realise that Porthmadog FC have taken strong action against racism. Yn ddiweddar, mae tîm Peter Nicholas wedi mwynhau cyfnod da a hynny yn dilyn cyfnod ddigon siomedig yn y gynghrair ac hefyd yn colli yng Nghwpan Cymru yn erbyn Caerfyrddin. Mae Llanelli wedi colli’r cyfle i godi i’r ail safle ond byddant yn bendant yn chwilio am dri phwynt ddydd Sadwrn er mwyn gorffen yn drydydd ac ennill lle yn yr Intertoto. Efallai y bydd yn syndod i lawer o gefnogwyr y ddau dîm sylweddoli nad yw Port erioed wedi colli yn Stebonheath! Gwir pob gair. Hon fydd y seithfed ymweliad â chartref y clwb o Shir Gâr ac mae Port wedi ennill pedair o’r gemau blaenorol gyda dwy gêm yn gyfartal. Ar y ddau ymweliad diwethaf, bu Porthmadog yn ffodus efallai i rannu’r pwyntiau ond gobeithio fydd yr hogiau yn barod i amddiffyn y record hon ddydd Sadwrn. Bydd rhaid iddynt fod ar ei gorau gyda Llanelli angen y pwyntiau a bydd rhaid cadw golwg ar dri o’r ymosodwyr perycla yn y Gynghrair sef prif sgoriwr y gynghrair Rhys Griffiths, y Sbaenwyr talentog Jacob Mignorance a’r asgellwr Craig Williams sydd wedi cael sawl gêm dda yn ein herbyn. Porthmadog face the long journey to Llanelli for the final game of the season. Peter Nicholas’s side have enjoyed a successful period recently following a disappointing time in the league and being beaten by Carmarthen in the Welsh Cup. Though Llanelli have missed the opportunity of finishing in second place, they will certainly be looking to pick up three points on Saturday to ensure third place and entry into the Intertoto. It might come as a surprise to followers of both teams to realise that Port have never lost a WPL game at Stebonheath! This will be the 7th league meeting between the two clubs with Porthmadog the winners on four occasions and then perhaps slightly fortunate, on the last two visits, to gain draws. Let’s hope that the lads are up for it on Saturday to defend the unbeaten record. They will need to be as Llanelli include the league’s leading scorer Rhys Griffiths as well as the talented Spanish forward Jacob Mignorance and winger Craig Williams who has turned in several good performances against us. 25/04/07 Gêm Dysteb i Haydn Jones / Benefit match for Haydn Jones Chwaraeir gêm dysteb ar yr Oval i Haydn Jones, un o sêr y gorffennol. Yn dilyn diagnosis feddygol ddiweddar, darganfuwyd fod ganddo gancr a chlefyd motor niwron. Chwaraeodd Haydn, sydd erbyn hyn yn 61 oed, tan oedd yn 40 oed. Yn ogystal â chael treial efo Arsenal, cynrychiolodd glybiau Bangor, Porthmadog, Rhyl, Wrecsam, Watford, Pwllheli, Dyffryn Nantlle, Blaenau Ffestiniog a Bethesda. Bydd tîm yn cynrychioli Porthmadog a Chaernarfon, dan reolaeth Meilyr Owen a Wayne Phillips, yn wynebu tîm cyfun Bangor a Rhyl, a hwnnw’n cael ei reoli gan Marc Lloyd Williams a John Evans. Chwaraeir y gêm ar nos Wener, 11 Mai (cic gyntaf 7.30 pm). Eisoes mae’r tocynnau ar gyfer cinio dysteb i’w chynnal yr wythnos ganlynol i gyd wedi’u gwerthu. CAERNARFON Town will host a benefit match at The Oval for club legend Haydn Jones, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer and motor neurone disease. Now 61, Jones played until the age of 40 and, in addition to having trials for Arsenal, also played for Bangor City, Rhyl, Porthmadog, Wrexham, Watford, Pwllheli, Nantlle Vale, Blaenau and Bethesda. A combined Caernarfon Town/Porthmadog XI managed by Meilir Owen and Waynne Phillips will take on a Bangor/Rhyl XI bossed by Marc Lloyd Williams and John Evans. The game takes place on Friday 11 May (kick-off 7.30pm) and a testimonial dinner for Jones the following week has already sold out. 24/04/07 Chwaraewyr Dan 9 Dolgellau ar Y Traeth / Dolgellau Under 9’s at the Traeth Chwaraewyr ifanc o glwb pêl droed Dolgellau oedd yn ymddangos ar Y Traeth cyn y gêm UGC yn erbyn Port Talbot ddydd Sadwrn a hefyd mewn cystadleuaeth ciciau o’r smotyn yn ystod yr hanner amser. Bu nifer o dimau ifanc lleol yn gwneud yr un fath yn ddiweddar ac mae’r clwb yn ddyledus i Mr Gwyn Ellis am drefnu hyn. Youngsters from Dolgellau FC, Under 9’s, appeared at the Traeth for a game ahead of the WPL game against Port Talbot on Saturday. They also took part in a half-time penalty competition. A number of young players from local clubs have done the same over recent weeks and Porthmadog FC are indebted to Mr. Gwyn Ellis for organising these events. 23/04/07 Dim cosb i Lerpwl! / No fine for Liverpool! Derbyniwyd yr eitem newyddion isod oddi wrth Seán Britton o Minffordd. Mae Seán yn gofyn “Os ydy hyn yn gweithio i Lerpwl pam ddim i Port?” Mae’r ateb yn amlwg: dim rheswm o gwbl. Yn anffodus, mae ‘rheswm’ yn beth prin iawn yn y brif swyddfa ym Mae Caerdydd. Diolch i Seán am dynnu ein sylw at y stori hon. This news item has been sent to us by Seán Britton of Minffordd. Seán asks “If it works for Liverpool why not for Port?” The answer is no reason at all. Unfortunately ‘reason’ is in short supply at FAW HQ. Thanks Seán for drawing our attention to this story. SPECTATOR BANNED FROM ANFIELD Jimmy Rice 23 April 2007 A spectator caught chanting racist abuse during this season's home match against Manchester United has been given a three-year football banning order. Jonathan McInally, from Back Lane in Little Crosby, was arrested following an undercover police operation during the game on March 3. The sting, in which a plain-clothes officer was positioned in the Anfield Road Stand, was mounted after a complaint from a fellow spectator. McInally was hauled before North Liverpool Community Justice Courts last week, where he pleaded guilty to racist chanting. As well as an order banning him from all football stadia, the 25-year-old was fined £200. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We take this type of behaviour very seriously. We will not tolerate any type of racist chanting. "Just because someone is at a football match, it does not mean that they can behave as they like. We will not stand for any racist behaviour." 22/04/07 Y protestio'n barhau / The protests continue Parhaodd y protestio yn erbyn penderfyniad gwarthus y Gymdeithas Bêl Droed Cymru yn gêm gartref olaf y tymor yn erbyn Port Talbot ddydd Sadwrn. Roedd un cefnogwr selog, Mike Hives, wedi gwisgo fel milwr yn barod i frwydro yn erbyn yr anghyfiawnder. Mae'r faner isod yn dangos pa mor gandryll yw'r cefnogwyr am y penderfyniad. The protests against the Football Association's disgraceful decision continued in the last home game of the season against Port Talbot on Saturday. One regular supporter, Mike Hives, was dressed as a soldier ready to fight against this injustice. The above flag shows just how insensed the supporters are with the decision. 20/04/07 Cyfraniadau Caernarfon a Rhyl i Apêl Port / Caernarfon and Rhyl contribute to Port's appeal Mae'r ymateb i apêl Port am gyfiawnder yn erbyn Cymdeithas Bêl-droed Cymru wedi bod yn wych hyd yn hyn. Trefnwyd casgliadau tuag at yr apêl gan gefnogwyr o Gaernarfon a Rhyl sy'n benderfynol o ymladd yr anghyfiawnder hwn. Cyn y gêm yn erbyn Hwlffordd (17/4/07) cyflwynodd cynrychiolwyr o'r ddau glwb sieciau o £175 (Caernarfon) a £300 (Rhyl) i gadeirydd Port, Phil Jones. Diolch yn fawr i gefnogwyr y ddau glwb am eu cefnogaeth. The response to Port's appeal for justice against the Football Association of Wales has been fantastic to date. Collections were made towards the appeal by supporters from Caernarfon and Rhyl who are determined to fight against this injustice. Before the game against Haverfordwest (17/4/07) representatives from both clubs presented cheques worth £175 (Caernarfon) and £300 (Rhyl) to Porthmadog chairman, Phil Jones. Thanks to the supporters of both clubs for their support. 20/04/07 Y gwaith ar y bar yn dechrau / Work on the clubhouse starts Mae'r gwaith o adeiladu bar ar y Traeth wedi dechrau bellach. Y gobaith yw y bydd y bar hwn yn creu arian ychwanegol i'r clwb ac yn sicrhau dyfodol y clwb yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Cofiwch y byddwn yn falch i dderbyn unrhyw gyfraniadau tuag at adeiladu'r bar. Work on the new clubhouse on the Traeth has now started. The hope is that the clubhouse will create additional revenue for the club and ensure the club's future in the Welsh Premier. Remember that we will be glad to accept all contributions towards building the clubhouse. 20/04/07 Ysgol Bêl Droed yn Llwyddiant / Soccer School a Success Ym marn y Rheolwr Osian Roberts, cafwyd Ysgol Bêl Droed llwyddiannus iawn yn ystod gwyliau’r Pasg. “Digwyddiad i’r genhedlaeth nesaf o chwaraewyr oedd hwn a’r oll fedraf ddweud yw fod y dyfodol yn edrych yn addawol tu hwnt! Gwelwyd nifer o chwaraewyr addawol a chyffrous gyda’r potensial i fynd ymlaen i gyflawni pethau gwell ym myd pêl droed,” oedd sylw Osian. Ymysg y rhai yn hyfforddi ar y cwrs oedd Carl Jones sydd ei hun yn chwaraewr ifanc a greodd gryn argraff ers ymuno â Port. “Braf oedd gweld yr asgellwr ifanc yn cyflwyno rhai o’i sgiliau trin pêl cyffrous i’r hogiau ifanc,” ychwanegodd Osian. Ond os oeddech chi yn un o’r rhai a fethodd ddod i’r Ysgol Bêl Droed y tro hwn, gwnewch yn siŵr eich bod yn nodi y dyddiad 30 Mai gan y bwriedir trefnu un arall ar y dyddiad. “Gyda lwc, bydd yna ddigon o chwaraewyr eto bryd hynny,” meddai Osian. Manager Osian Roberts rated the recent two day Easter Soccer School an outstanding success. He commented, “This was an event for the next generation of players and all I can say is that the future seems bright! We saw several potentially exciting and promising players who will hopefully go on to bigger and better things one day.” Among those assisting with the coaching was Carl Jones, an exciting and promising young player who has created quite an impression since joining Port. Osian remarked, “It was great to see the young winger passing on his exciting dribbling skills to the kids over the two days.” If you were one of those who missed out on this particular Soccer School, all is not lost for Osian promises that, “Another one has been pencilled in for May 30th and hopefully that again will provide a good turn out of players.” 15/04/07 Beth sy’n digwydd yn yr FAW? / What is happening at the FAW? Yn ddiweddar derbyniodd y Gymdeithas Bêl Droed yng Nghymru gwŷn oddi wrth glwb Lewes ynglŷn â sylwadau hiliol honedig neu sylwadau wedi’u hysgogi gan hiliaeth a wnaed gan gefnogwyr Casnewydd ac hefyd gan un o chwaraewyr Casnewydd yn erbyn chwaraewr o Lewes yn ystod y gêm. Ond am sioc! Beth oedd y canlyniad? Dywed yr FAW “Wedi ystyried yn ofalus y dystiolaeth oedd ar gael i gyd, penderfynodd y ddwy Gymdeithas na fyddai angen gweithredu ymhellach yn erbyn yr un o’r ddau glwb.” Unwaith eto gwelwn safonau dwbl y Gymdeithas yn Nghymru yn dod i’r amlwg. Tybed nad oes gan hyn rywbeth i wneud â’r ffaith fod Casnewydd yn un o’r Alltudion ac felly ddim yn derbyn y gosb eithafol a osodwyd ar CPD Porthmadog? Dywed yr FAW fod Casnewydd yn “gwadu’r cyhuddiadau yn gryf iawn” ac, o ystyried y gosb a dderbyniodd Porthmadog, dyna fydd clybiau eraill hefyd yn ei wneud gan na fyddant am gael ei hunain mewn trafferthion oherwydd iddynt geisio delio â’r mater yn gadarn eu hunain. Ni fydd gweithred yr FAW yn gwaredu pêl droed o hiliaeth ond yn hytrach yn sgubo hiliaeth o dan y carped. Cafodd achos Casnewydd ei helpu gan fod FA Lloegr yn gysylltiedig â’r mater gan ei bod nhw wedi dangos, yn achos West Ham, eu bod yn credu mai mater ydyw i’r heddlu i ddelio gyda’r troseddwyr a nid gosod cosb eithafol ar y clybiau. Mae’r FAW wedi gweithredu heb unrhyw gysondeb a heb ronyn o gyfiawnder. Yr erthygl gyflawn o safle'r FAW / The full article taken from the FAW website The Football Association of Wales recently received a complaint from Lewes FC in relation to alleged racist or racially motivated comments made by Newport County supporters and a Newport County player towards a Lewes player during the game. But surprise, surprise what happens? The FAW says “However, having carefully considered all of the evidence available, it has been determined by both Associations that no further action should be taken against either club.” Here again we have the incredible double standards of the FAW when dealing with the Exiles as compared to the senseless punishment meted out to Porthmadog FC. Newport County “strenuously denied the allegations” and, in view of the punishment given to Porthmadog, this is what clubs will do -they will deny rather than risk being punished as a direct result of dealing with the matter. The actions of the FAW will not kick racism out of football: it will instead kick it under the carpet. As the English FA was also involved in this decision probably common sense prevailed as we know, in cases like that at West Ham, the English FA favours the culprits being dealt with by the police rather than punishing the clubs. The FAW has once again acted without any consistency and with no respect for justice. 13/04/07 Yr Ail Dîm ym mis Mawrth / Reserves in March Mis prysur iawn i’r ail dîm wrth iddynt chwarae saith o gêmau cynghrair. Dechreuodd y mis ar garlam gyda tair buddugoliaeth dda yn codi’r clwb i’r pedwerydd safle. Curwyd Llanfairfechan o 4-0 gyda Steve Jones, Matthew Hughes, Dave Harding a Tom Hughes yn sgorio’r goliau. Sgoriodd Iestyn Woolway, Matthew Hughes ac Arwel Evans yn y fuddugoliaeth o 3-0 adref yn erbyn Prifysgol Cymru Bangor. Daeth y drydedd fuddugoliaeth yn olynol, a hynny heb golli gôl, yn erbyn Real Llandudno. Yr arwr oedd Mark Cook yn sgorio pedair gôl gyda Mark Bridge ac Iwan Williams yn ychwanegu’r ddwy gôl arall. Gyda’u llygaid bellach ar frig y tabl, cafwyd gêm agos iawn yn erbyn Dyffryn Nantlle a oedd yn arwain y gynghrair. Siom oedd colli i gôl hwyr yn yr amser ychwanegol a hynny o 3-2 ar ôl i Matthew Hughes ac Iwan Thomas sgorio i hogiau’r Traeth. Yn anffodus, ar i lawr aeth pethau gan golli’n drwm o 5-2 yn erbyn yr hen elyn, Blaenau Ffestiniog, ac eto yn erbyn Amlwch o 3-0. Er fod Mark Bridge wedi sgorio ddwy waith yn erbyn Biwmares, colli o 3-2 oedd yr hanes. Erbyn diwedd y mis, roedd Port yn ôl yn y 7fed safle. March was a busy month for the reserves which saw them involved in 7 league fixtures. The month started well with three straight wins without a goal being conceded. This saw them reach the fourth spot in the table. Llanfairfechan were beaten by 4-0 with the goals coming from Steve Jones, Matthew Hughes, Dave Harding and Tom Hughes. Iestyn Woolway, Matthew Hughes and Arwel Evans provided the goals in the 3-0 defeat of Univ. College Bangor. The third win saw a star performance from Mark Cook who scored four times in the 6-0 win against Real Llandudno with the other goals coming from Mark Bridge and Iwan Williams. With their eyes fixed on the top spot in the table, they visited the leaders Nantlle Vale but were unlucky to go down to a goal late in injury time by 3-2. The scorers were Matthew Hughes and Iwan Thomas. Things went down hill after this, losing at home to old rivals Blaenau Ffestiniog by 5-2 and another home defeat against Amlwch Town by 3-0. Though Mark Bridge scored twice against Beaumaris, it was another defeat by 3-2. By the end of the month, Port were in 7th spot in the table. |
