20/08/09 Rhagolwg: v Caersws / Preview: v Caersws Caersws fydd yr ymwelwyr ddydd Sadwrn, clwb sydd fel Port wedi bod yn brwydro yn y gwaelodion dros y ddau dymor diwethaf. Felly mor fuan hyn yn y tymor mae yna bwysigrwydd ychwanegol i gêm ddydd Sadwrn gyda’r ddau glwb yn targedu’r tri phwynt. Y tymor diwethaf sicrhaodd y clwb o’r canolbarth y dwbl dros Port –tair buddugoliaeth a gêm gyfartal wrth gynnwys gemau Cwpan y Gynghrair. Yn eu dwy gêm hyd yma mae Caersws wedi methu canfod y rhwyd, problem a fu ganddynt y tymor diwethaf hefyd –dim ond 28 gôl gynghrair drwy’r tymor. Ar ôl colli o bedair gôl i Aberystwyth gwnaeth yr amddiffyn dynhau mewn gêm ddi-sgor yn erbyn Cei Conna nos Fawrth. Y gwrthwyneb oedd problem Port llynedd –sgorio digon ond yn gollwng goliau yn y cefn. Ac er eu bod wedi llwyddo i sicrhau gêm gyfartal ddydd Sadwrn nid oedd neb wedi’u argyhoeddi fod y problemau amddiffynnol drosodd. Mae gan y ddau glwb ddigon i wneud ond mae llawer wedi newid ers iddynt chwarae eu gilydd ddiwethaf. Y newid pennaf yw fod y ddau wedi apwyntio rheolwyr profiadol iawn ac i Mickey Evans bydd Caersws yn edrych a Port at Tomi Morgan i sefydlogi a wedyn adfer llwyddiant. Ewch i i roi bet ar Porthmadog v Caersws. Saturday sees the visit of Caersws who have been our fellow strugglers over the past two seasons. Caersws only escaped the drop in 2007/08 and2008/09 because there was no promoted club from the Welsh League. There will be no such escape for either club at the end of 2009/10 so already this game assumes extra importance with both sides probably targeting it as a potential three points. Last season the mid-Wales club gained a double over Port –in fact they clocked up three wins and a draw if we include League Cup games. Caersws have failed to find the net in their two opening games, a problem which also plagued them last season –only 28 league goals throughout the season. But having lost by 4 goals to Aberystwyth they tightened up against Connah’s Quay with the game ending goalless. Port had the opposite problem last season –scoring enough goals but leaking them at the back. Though they managed a draw last weekend no one present was convinced that the defensive problem has been solved. Both clubs have much to do, but since they last met a great deal has changed. The main change is that both clubs have appointed experienced managers and Caersws will look to Mickey Evans and Port to Tomi Morgan to first stabilise and then hopefully revive their fortunes. Visit to place a bet on Porthmadog v Caersws. 19/08/09 Diweddaraf o’r Academi / Latest from the Academy Yn dilyn eu llwyddiant yn ystod tymor 2008/09 bu Academi CPD Porthmadog yn brysur yn paratoi at y tymor newydd gyda threialon ar ddechrau Gorffennaf. Yn ôl gweinyddwr yr academi, Eddie Blackburn, “Mae tua 120 o hogiau wedi bod i’r sesiynau, ac mae chwaraewyr addawol wedi’u gweld ar gyfer pob carfan. “Bu rhai newidiadau i’r staff hyfforddi ond ar y cyfan mae hyn wedi ein gadael o bosib yn gryfach. Dim ond ychydig iawn sydd wedi gadael. Adroddwyd cynt fod yr Academi wedi llwyddo yn yr archwiliad diweddar a byddant yn derbyn arian UEFA drwy’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed.” Bydd yr ymarfer, ar y Traeth ac yn y Clwb Chwaraeon, yn cael ei gynnal bob nos Wener am 6 o’r gloch. Bydd y gemau cyntaf oddi cartref yng Nghaersws ar 13 Medi. Mae Eddie hefyd yn estyn gwahoddiad i gefnogwyr, “Dewch i’r Clwb Chwaraeon ar fore Sul, pan fyddwn yn chwarae ein gemau cartref, i weld chwaraewyr y dyfodol.” Bydd dyddiadau’r gemau yn ymddangos ar y wefan. Following its success in the 2008/09 season the Porthmadog FC Academy has been busily preparing for the new season with trials in early July. Academy Administrator Eddie Blackburn said, “To date around 120 boys have attended these sessions and the nucleus of some very promising squads have been identified. “There have been some changes to the coaching staff but overall this has left us potentially in a stronger position with some new faces coming in with very few leaving.” As has already been reported the Academy passed its first audit in August and will receive full UEFA funding through the FAW. Training for all squads will take place at Clwb Chwaraeon and the Traeth every Friday at 6 pm and the season starts with away games at Caersws on Sunday, 13 September. Eddie also gave all Port fans an invitation “Why don’t you come along to Clwb Chwaraeon to take a look at Porthmadog’s future when we play our home games on Sunday mornings?” Dates for these fixtures will appear on the website. 17/08/09 Aduniad Dathlu 125 mlynedd / 125th Anniversary Reunion Cynhelir yr aduniad i gyn chwaraewyr ar Sul, 20 Medi, cyn y gêm Gynghrair ddeniadol yn erbyn Llanelli (ie yn cael ei chwarae ar y Sul!). Bydd yr aduniad yn cychwyn am 11.30 y bore gyda bwffe ysgafn a chyfle i gyfarfod hen ffrindiau a gwylio'r gem fydd yn cychwyn am 2.30 pm. Mae John Morris, golwr tîm y 70au, wedi bod y cysylltu gyda chwaraewyr o’r tîm mwyaf llwyddiannus yn hanes y clwb, ac mae 7 o'r hogiau wedi cadarnhau eu bwriad i ddod i'r aduniad. Mae yna groeso i UNRHYW gyn chwaraewr gysylltu a Dafydd Wyn Jones i gadarnhau eu lle ar 07810057444 neu dafyddwynjones@tiscali.co.uk The reunion of former players will be held on Sunday 20 September prior to the attractive Premier League match against Llanelli (yes being played on the Sunday!). The event will start at 11.30am with a buffet available. Former players can meet old friends and then watch the match which kicks off at 2.30 pm. John Morris, keeper of the 70’s team, has been working hard to inform former colleagues of the event and so far a lot of enthusiasm has been shown with 7 of the squad, who proved to be the most successful team in the club's history, indicating their intention to be present. ALL former players are welcome and can confirm their attendance by telephoning Dafydd Wyn Jones on 07810057444 or e-mail dafyddwynjones@tiscali.co.uk 16/08/09 Barn Tomi am y Deg Disglair / Tomi views the Super Ten Yn ei nodiadau i’r y rhaglen ar gyfer ymweliad y Drenewydd mynegodd Tomi Morgan amheuon mawr ynglyn â’r newidiadau i strwythur UGC. "Cam yn ôl yn fy marn i ydy cwtogi’r gynghrair i 12 clwb. Dydy 44 o gemau y tymor nesaf ddim yn ymarferol a bydd chwarae pob clwb 4 gwaith ddim yn denu’r cefnogwyr drwy’r gatiau!" Gyda’i dafod yn ei foch mae’n ychwanegu, "Ond arhoswch – pwy ydw i fynegi barn? Mae’r awdurdodau wedi ymchwilio’r pwnc yma yn drwyadl." Wedyn yn ei sylw nesaf yn cwestiynu pa mor drwyadl fu’r ystyriaeth honno. "Un peth bach i chi ystyried –gall tîm sydd yn 11eg y tymor hwn gael eu ddisodli gan glwb sy’n gorffen yn ail yn y Cymru Alliance neu Cynghrair Cymru (y de). Dyna gloi fy nadl." Cyn gêm ddydd Sadwrn, mewn cyfweliad ar Radio Cymru, awgrymodd nad ydym wedi cyrraedd pendraw saga’r Deg Disglair ac nad oedd yn amhosib i gael newid meddwl eto, cyn fydd y trefniadau newydd pell gyrhaeddol yn weithredol. Am obeithion Port o gyrraedd 10 uchaf erbyn Ebrill 2010 yr holl roedd yn barod i ddweud oedd, "Ni fyddwn yn methu oherwydd diffyg ymdrech. Byddwn yn mynd amdani." Ei sylw am y gwario sydd wedi bod i gryfhau yn y gobaith o gyrraedd y deg uchaf oedd: "Mae un neu ddau o glybiau wedi buddsoddi’n fawr er mwyn cyrraedd y nod a bydd hyn yn ychwanegu at y pwysedd sydd arnynt os na byddant yn cael cychwyn da i’r tymor." Tomi Morgan, in his programme notes ahead of Saturday’s clash with Newtown, expressed serious reservations concerning the changes to the WPL structure "I think reducing the league to 12 clubs is a backward step. 44 league encounters next season is certainly not viable and playing every club 4 times is certainly not going to bring the fans through the turnstiles!" Tongue in cheek he adds "But hey-who am I to say anything as the powers that be have researched this subject thoroughly." His next comment calls into question the degree of thought and the thoroughness which has gone into the implementation of the new structure. "Just one thing for you to ponder –a team finishing 11th this season could be replaced by a club finishing 2nd in the Cymru Alliance or the Welsh League. I rest my case." He further expanded on these comments in a pre-match interview on Radio Cymru suggesting that we might not have reached the end of the Super Ten Saga and there could yet be a change of tack before the new sweeping changes are implemented. On Port’s hopes of achieving a top ten finish come April 2010 he will only say "It will not be from a lack of effort. We’ll be giving it our best shot." Aware of the strength of the competition that has been inspired by the changes he comments, "One or two clubs have been investing heavily to achieve a top ten finish which will add a lot of pressure if they don’t get away to a positive start." 14/08/09 Newyddion y Lotri a'r Tote / Weekly Draw and Tote news Tynnwyd y Tote Misol ar gyfer mis Gorffennaf yn ystod y bingo yn Y Ganolfan. Y rhifau buddugol oedd 27 a 32. Roedd 1 enillydd, Catherine Pritchard o Chwilog, a dderbyniodd £360.00. Enillwyr y wobr o £100 yn Wythnosau 30, 31, 32 yn Lotri wythnosol Clwb Pêl-droed Porthmadog oedd Enid Owen, Tremadog; Elisabeth Jones, Blaenau Ffestiniog a Katherine Pritchard, Porthmadog. Ffurflen Gais / Application Form | Mandad Archeb Sefydlog / Standing Order Mandate The July Monthly Tote was drawn during the bingo at Y Ganolfan. The winning numbers were 27 & 32. There was 1 winner, Catherine Pritchard of Chwilog, who received £360.00. The winners of the £100 prize in Weeks 30, 31, 32 in the Porthmadog Football Club Weekly Draw were Enid Owen, Tremadog; Elisabeth Jones, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Katherine Pritchard, Porthmadog. 14/08/09 Dowridge yn ôl yn Cei Conna / Dowridge returns to Connah’s Quay Cadarnhawyd fod Paul Dowridge wedi ymuno a Chei Conna, un o’i gyn glybiau. Roedd y clwb o Lannau Dyfrdwy wedi roi rybudd 7 niwrnod eu bod am geisio eu ddenu yn ôl. Chwaraeodd drostynt nos Fercher mewn gêm gyfeillgar yn erbyn ail dîm Tranmere. Felly mae’r cefnwr o Blacon, Sir Gaer, a arwyddodd i Port ym mis Mehefin, wedi gadael heb chwarae gêm gystadleuol i’r clwb. It has been confirmed that Paul Dowridge has returned to Connah’s Quay, one of his previous clubs. The Deeside club had put in a 7 day notice of approach and he had already played for them on Wednesday in a pre-season friendly against Tranmere Reserves. The Cheshire based player from Blacon, who signed for Port in June, leaves without playing a competitive game for the club. 13/08/09 Rhagolwg: v Y Drenewydd / Preview: v Newtown Ddydd Sadwrn bydd yna dymor tyngedfennol yn hanes UGC yn cychwyn. Gwelwyd newidiadau yn y ddau glwb ers y tymor diwethaf pan rhannwyd y pwyntiau dros y ddwy gêm. Enillodd Port yn gyfforddus ar y Traeth gyda’r Drenewydd yn gwneud yr un fath ar Barc Latham. Bu newidiadau i garfan Darren Ryan gyda’r ymosodwr, Craig Moses, yn symud i Lanelli, Danny Jellicoe i’r Bala a tri chwaraewr, gan gynnwys yr Hugh Clarke profiadol, i Gaersws. Yn arwain y wynebau newydd mae Ross Stephens chwaraewr canol cae creadigol yn ymuno o Aberystwyth, Stuart Fraser ymosodwr hefyd o Aber a Dave Maguire golwr o’r Amwythig. Bu newidiadau mawr ar y Traeth ond ar ôl cyfres o gemau cyfeillgar dywedodd Tomi wrth yr Herald "Dwi ddim yn ffan o gemau cyn dymor. Fedra i ddim aros i’r tymor go iawn gychwyn." Ar ôl dau dymor gwael roedd y rheolwr yn gwybod, " Roedd yna rhywbeth o’i le a byddwn yn ffwl os na wnawn i rhywbeth amdano." Mae wedi sicrhau fod yna bellach gystadleuaeth o fewn y garfan ac wedi ychwanegu profiad yn ogystal a sawl chwaraewr ifanc addawol. Sut wnaiff y tymor droi allan? Efallai bydd gennym gwell syniad ar ôl ddydd Sadwrn. Ewch i i roi bet ar Porthmadog v Y Drenewydd. Saturday sees the start of a vital WPL season. Both teams have made changes in playing personnel since last season when the two teams shared the spoils over the two games. Port won comfortably at home with Newtown doing likewise at Latham Park. The main movements at the mid-Wales club have seen striker Craig Moses moving to Llanelli, Danny Jellicoe to Bala with three players, including veteran defender Hugh Clarke, switching to neighbours Caersws. Leading the new faces is Ross Stephens a skilful midfielder joining from Aberystwyth, Stuart Fraser a striker from Aberystwyth and Dave Maguire a goalkeeper from Shrewsbury. There have been major changes at the Traeth but after a series of friendlies Tomi told the Herald "I’m not really a fan of pre-season. I can’t wait for the real action to start." After two poor seasons the manager knew "Something was wrong somewhere and I know if I didn’t do something I’d be a fool." He has now ensured competition for places and added experience as well as some promising young players. How will it all pan out? Well we might know more after Saturday. Visit to place a bet on Porthmadog v Newtown. 11/08/09 Tymor mawr i’r Gynghrair / A big season for the WPL Hwn ydy’r tymor pan fydd yr awdurdodau yn disgwyl gwahanu’r defaid oddi wrth y geifr gan gymryd y cam cyntaf at Gynghrair y Deg Disglair. Ond wrth i’r tymor fynd yn ei flaen gallwn ddisgwyl yr annisgwyl i ddigwydd. Mae’n debygol y bydd y tri chlwb arferol yn brwydro am y bencampwriaeth ond gyda Port Talbot efallai yn ymuno i’w gwneud yn frwydr rhwng pedwar. Yn is i lawr y tabl gallwn ddisgwyl ambell sioc wrth i’r frwydr gynhesu, gyda un neu ddau, a ystyrir yn sicr o gyrraedd y 12 Uchaf, yn cael bywyd yn anos o lawer nac oedden yn ei ddychmygu...mwy... This is the season when the powers that be hope to sort the sheep from the goats as the league takes its first step to become the Super Ten. But as the season progresses there might well be some unexpected by-products. The league title will probably be fought out between the usual three but with Port Talbot likely to make it a four cornered tussle. Further down the table we could well be in for a few shocks once the battle heats up with one or two of the clubs regarded as racing certainties to attain Top 12 status finding life more difficult than they thought... more... 11/08/09 Cynghrair Gwynedd yn cychwyn ddydd Sadwrn / Gwynedd League starts Saturday Bydd yr Ail Dîm yn agor eu tymor ddydd Sadwrn (15 Awst) gydag ymweliad â Bodedern. Amddiffynnwr ydy Euron Roberts a bu’n chwaraewr ifanc gyda Academi’r Wolves. Y tymor diwethaf roedd yn chwaraewr allweddol gyda Amaturiaid y Blaenau, ei glwb cartref, a sicrhaodd ddyrchafiad i’r Welsh Alliance. Yn nhymor 2008-09 gorffen yn 11eg yn y tabl gwnaeth y clwb o’r Cymru Alliance. Rheolwr y clwb ydy Darren Moore ac mae un enw yng ngharfan y clwb o Ynys Môn yn gyfarwydd iawn i gefnogwyr Port, sef Tony Williams a dreuliodd rhwng 2002 a 2006 ar y Traeth gan sgorio 15 o goliau yn nhymor llwyddiannus 2002-03. Hyd yma mae Tomi Morgan wedi defnyddio’r gemau ymarfer i adeiladu ffitrwydd, datblygu patrwm y chwarae ac i roi cyfle i nifer o chwaraewyr ar dreial greu argraff, ond hyd yma heb roi y tîm cryfaf efo’u gilydd ar y cae. Bydd y gic gyntaf am 2.30 pm. Porthmadog will play their 4th pre-season fixture on Saturday when they visit Llanfairpwll. The Cymru Alliance club completed season 2008/09 in 11th spot in the table. They are managed by Darren Moore and one name in the Anglesey club’s squad very familiar to Port supporters is Tony Williams who was at the Traeth 2002-2006 scoring 15 goals in the promotion season of 2002/03. So far manager Tomi Morgan has used the friendlies to build match fitness, develop a pattern of play and give a number of trialists an opportunity to impress, but has not yet fielded his likely full strength side. The kick off is at 2.30 pm. 29/07/09 Kehoe ac Orlik yn symud / Kehoe and Orlik on the move Mewn datganiad a rhyddhawyd gan y clwb y bore yma dywedwyd fod Steve Kehoe wedi’i rhyddhau i ddychwelyd i Langefni ei glwb cartref. Mae Steve a dreuliodd un tymor ar y Traeth yn dweud ei fod yn cael anawsterau teithio i ymarfer ym Mhorthmadog a felly byddai symud i glwb yn agos i’w gartref yn datrys y broblem. Yn ystod ei gyfnod ar y Traeth gwnaeth gyfraniad gwerthfawr iawn yng nghanol y cae a bydd y clwb yn gweld ei golli. Y tymor diwethaf chwaraeodd 26 o gemau UGC gan sgorio pedair gôl. Bydd Marcus Orlik hefyd yn ymuno â’r clwb o’r ynys ond ar drefniant tymor byr er mwyn adennill ei ffitrwydd ar ôl torri metatarsal am yr ail dro. Os bydd popeth yn mynd yn iawn bydd Marcus yn dychwelyd i’r Traeth yn ystod ffenestr drosglwyddo mis Ionawr. A statement issued by the club this morning announces the release of Steve Kehoe to return to his hometown club Llangefni Town. Steve who has spent a season at the Traeth says that he has found travelling to and from Porthmadog for training something of a problem and so a move closer home will provide the best answer to his problem. He made an extremely valuable contribution last season as a hard working midfielder who distributes well and will be missed at the Traeth. Last season he made 26 WPL appearances and scored four goals. Marcus Orlik will also joins Llangefni but on a short term basis to regain match fitness after a second metatarsal break and if all goes well Marcus will return to Porthmadog in the January transfer window. 28/07/09 Marc Evans yn arwyddo i Port / Port sign Marc Evans Y chwaraewr diweddaraf i ymuno â chlwb y Traeth ydy’r ymosodwr ifanc a ddangosodd fod ganddo lygad am gôl wrth iddo fod yr ail sgoriwr uchaf yn y Cymru Alliance llynedd gan gynorthwyo Hotspyrs Caergybi yn eu hymdrech i sicrhau dyrchafiad. Cysylltwyd Marc ynghynt yn yr haf gyda symudiad posibl i Port ond rwan mae Llangefni wedi cytuno iddo fynd ar fenthyg am y tymor cyfan. Ymddangosodd am y tro cyntaf yn nhîm Tomi Morgan yn y gêm gyfeillgar heno ( 28 Gorffennaf) yn erbyn Llanrug a gwnaeth argraff yn syth wrth sgorio’i gôl gyntaf ar ôl ond 10 munud. The latest new arrival at the Traeth is Marc Evans a young striker who showed his eye for goal by becoming the second highest scorer in the Cymru Alliance last season while assisting Holyhead Hotspur’s promotion challenge.. Marc had previously been linked during the summer with a move to Porthmadog but now a season long loan deal has been agreed with Llangefni Town. He made his first appearance for Tomi Morgan’s team in tonight’s (July 28th) friendly against Llanrug United and it took him only 10 minutes to find the net. 27/07/09 Richie Owen yn arwyddo i Llangefni / Richie Owen signs for Llangefni Yn ôl gwefan CPD Llangefni mae Richie Owen cyn chwaraewr canol cae Porthmadog wedi ymuno â’r clwb o Fôn. Nid yw’r cyhoeddiad hwn yn gwbl annisgwyl gan i suon fod ar led ers dipyn fod Richie yn mynd i ymuno gyda Llangefni neu Bethesda, y newydd ddyfodiaid i’r Cymru Alliance. Chwaraeodd 94 o gemau UGC dros Porthmadog gan sgorio 11 o goliau. Estynnwn ein diolch i’r chwaraewr tawel dibynadwy hwn am ei wasanaeth i CPD Porthmadog gan ddymuno’n dda iddo yn Llangefni. The Llangefni website reports that former Port midfielder, Richie Owen, has signed for the Anglesey club for the coming season. Dywedodd wrth yr Herald "Rydym wedi bod yn ymarfer ers ychydig wythnosau bellach ac mae’r garfan yn dechrau siapio. Rwyf mor hapus a'r disgwyl ein bod wedi cryfhau’r garfan yn y mannau allweddol. Everyone has been looking enthusiastic and sharp in training and the next step is to get the team into shape –something which we will be concentrating on now the pre-season friendlies are upon us." With seven new signings, and the possibility of one or two more joining, interest is high amongst supporters from the Chairman down. The last time Port visited Corwen was in season 1999/2000 -in the Cymru Alliance- and Viv Williams scored a hat-trick in a 7-1 win, and at the Traeth, in the return game, Viv added another two! 12/07/09 Apêl er mwyn ennill Trwydded Ddomestig / Appeal to achieve the Domestic Licence. With the controversial changes to the Welsh Premier League due to come into effect for the start of the 2010-2011 season, all the Welsh Premier Clubs who wish to participate in the League after that date will require a FAW Domestic Licence. The club calls on supporters and businesses to assist with raising £10,000. It is estimated that the work needed will cost in the region of £40,000.Substantial grant aid is available from the FAW with up to 75% of project cost being available. The changes include a small increase in the number of seats, a TV studio, a 20 seat press box along with other minor improvements. As PART of plans to try and raise this money the club has established an Appeal Fund in line with previous appeals the club has made. Chwaraewr arall a arwyddodd yr wythnos ddiwethaf ydy Richard Morgan golwr profiadol 30 oed sydd wedi chwarae yn bennaf i Aberystwyth gan chwarae 58 o gemau i’r clwb hwnnw rhwng 2005-07. Gyda Richard Harvey ym methu llawer o’r tymor diwethaf oherwydd anaf a Liam Shanahan yn ymuno gyda Llangefni roedd arwyddo golwr yn flaenoriaeth i Tomi Morgan. Chwaraeodd Richard Morgan hefyd i Rhaeadr, Llanelli a Chaerfyrddin yn UGC a treuliodd y tymor diwethaf gyda Penrhyncoch yn y Cymru Alliance. Two further new signings have been confirmed, former Porthmadog favourite Paul Roberts has returned once again to the club for his fourth stint. He was at Welshpool last season where he scored 14 goals league goals in 33 appearances. In all he has scored 136 Welsh Premier in 255 WPL appearances. Another who signed this week is Richard Morgan, an experienced 30 year old goalkeeper, who has played mainly for Aberystwyth Town making 58 appearances for that club during 2005-07. With Richard Harvey missing much of last season through injury and Liam Shanahan joining Llangefni, signing a new keeper was a priority for Tomi Morgan. Richard Morgan has also played for Rhayader, Llanelli and Carmarthen in the WPL and last season was with Cymru Alliance club Penrhyncoch. 08/07/09 Chwaraewyr llynedd yn ail ymuno / Last season’s squad players sign on Mae nifer dda o garfan llynedd wedi ail arwyddo i’r clwb ar gyfer tymor 2009/10. Chwaraewr sydd wedi gadael y clwb ydy Mark Thomas sydd wedi arwyddo i Bethesda a fydd yn chwarae yn y Cymru Alliance y tymor nesaf. Diolchwn a dymunwn yn dda iddo. We thank him and wish him well. 05/07/09 Cyfarwyddwr yr Academi yn gorffen / Academy Director steps down Oherwydd pwysau gwaith, bu’n rhaid i Mel Jones, Cyfarwyddwr yr Academi, adael ei swydd gyda CPD Porthmadog. Dywedodd Mel, "Nid oedd yn benderfyniad a gymerwyd yn ysgafn ond ar ôl dipyn o holi a phoeni. O ganlyniad i bwysau yn fy ngwaith bob dydd, yn y diwedd, roedd yn amhosib i ddal ati." Y newyddion da er hynny ydy fod Mel, sydd yn hyfforddwr cymwys iawn, i barhau yn ei swydd fel hyfforddwr y tîm cyntaf gan gynorthwyo Tomi Morgan i baratoi’r tîm ar gyfer UGC. Mae Cyfarwyddwyr y clwb yn siomedig iawn i weld Mel yn gadael ond yn deall ac yn parchu ei resymau dros wneud hynny. Does ganddynt ddim ond edmygedd a gwerthfawrogiad o’r gwaith mae wedi’i wneud yn codi’r Academi i lefel uwch. Mae siom y Bwrdd yn ddealladwy gan fod y tymor diwethaf wedi bod yn un o lwyddiant di-dor i’r Academi gyda phob un o’r pedair carfan oed yn mwynhau llwyddiant, a dau dîm yn ennill cystadlaethau cenedlaethol. Yn ffodus, mae’r Bwrdd wedi symud yn gyflym i lenwi’r gwagle enfawr ac yn barod mae 3-4 o ymgeiswyr da yn dangos diddordeb. Yn y cyfnod tan fydd yna apwyntiad, mae Tomi Morgan wedi cytuno i gynorthwyo gyda’r cynllunio at y tymor newydd. Wrth gyhoeddi’r penderfyniad, mynegodd Gweinyddwr yr Academi, Eddie Blackburn deyrnged bersonol: "Mae wedi bod yn bleser gweithio gyda’r fath fonheddwr, yn hawdd i dynnu ’mlaen a siarad efo a bob amser, os oedd yna broblem, roeddwn yn siwr o gael ei glust. Diolch Mel a gaf ddal i dy weld mewn gemau Uwch Gynghrair." Pressure of work has forced Academy Director, Mel Jones, to step down from his post with Porthmadog FC. In reaching his decision, Mel said "This has taken much heart searching and has not been taken lightly but purely due to unprecedented pressure at work which has made the job untenable." The good news is, however, that this well qualified coach will remain as first team coach assisting Tomi Morgan in preparing the WPL team. The Directors of the Club, whilst feeling very sorry to see Mel leave, understand and respect his reasons and have nothing but admiration and gratitude for the work he has done in helping to turn this Academy round. The board’s regret is understandable, for the past season has been one of unbroken achievement for the Academy, with all four academy teams enjoying success with two winning national competitions. Fortunately the Directors have moved swiftly to plug this massive gap and in fact there are 3 or 4 very good candidates already showing an interest. In the meantime Tomi Morgan has agreed to help out with the final planning for next season. Academy Administrator Eddie Blackburn when announcing the decision paid his own tribute, "It has been a pleasure working with such a gentleman, so easy to get on with and I always felt I could talk to him and knew that I would get his full attention if I had a problem. Thanks Mel, see you at the first team games." 05/07/09 Hogiau’r Traeth ar lan y môr / Traeth squad on the beach Aeth Tomi a’r garfan allan o’u chynefin arferol, yn y Clwb Chwaraeon, ar gyfer ail sesiwn hyfforddi’r tymor, ac i lawr at lan y môr ym Morfa Bychan. Dywedodd y cadeirydd, Phil Jones, "Roedd yna 28 o chwaraewyr wedi troi allan gyda phawb i weld yn mwynhau newid amgylchedd ac roedd y garfan i gyd mewn ysbryd ardderchog." Roedd y ddwy garfan –cyntaf ac ail- yn ymarfer gyda’i gilydd o dan lygaid barcud Tomi, Mel John a Twm. Mynegodd Phil ei bleser o weld y ddwy garfan yn ymarfer fel clwb. "Bydd hyn y help i greu’r math o awyrgylch mae pawb am ei weld yn y clwb," ychwanegodd.Ddydd Llun disgwylir i’r chwaraewyr ddychwelyd i’r Clwb Chwaraeon unwaith eto am eu sesiwn ymarfer nesaf. Tomi took his players away from their usual training haunt at Clwb Chwaraeon for their second training session of the new season and down to the sea at Black Rock Sands. The club chairman, Phil Jones, said "There was an excellent turn out of 28 players who seemed to enjoy the change in surroundings and the spirit in the squad was excellent." Both first and second team squads trained together under the watchful eye of Tomi, Mel, John and Twm. Phil expressed his pleasure at seeing the players training as a club. "This can only help create the right atmosphere which is what we all want to see within the club," he added. On Monday it is expected that the training will return to normal and be based at Clwb Chwaraeon once more. 03/07/09 Y cadeirydd yn edrych ymlaen / The chairman looks forward to the season "Mae’r tymor newydd bron yma ac rwyf yn methu aros amdano. Rydym mewn cyfnod cyffrous i’r clwb a beth bynnag ein teimladau amdano, bydd yna newidiadau mawr i bêl-droed yng Nghymru. "Cyfrifoldeb y bwrdd ydy gwneud yn siwr fod y clwb yn sicrhau Trwydded Domestig ac rym yn benderfynol o wneud hynny. Bydd unrhyw gymorth y medrwch roi, ariannol neu ymarferol, yn cael ei dderbyn gyda diolch. Mae safle’r clwb yn y gynghrair hefyd yn holl bwysig ac rwy’n hyderus fod gennym y dyn iawn mewn gofal i fynd â ni i’r safle uchaf yn ein hanes –Dim pwysau felly Tomi! Mae ganddo brofiad helaeth, digonedd o gysylltiadau a parch ei gyfoedion. Yn fuan bydd wedi cwblhau ei Drwydded Proffesiynol (angenrheidiol i’r Drwydded Domestig) ac yn un o’r gweithwyr caletaf rwy’n gwybod amdano. Gwnewch chi byth blesio pawb bob amser ond rwy’n siwr bydd y chwaraewyr sy’n cael eu hychwanegu at y garfan yn rhoi tîm y byddwn yn falch ohono. "Mewn pythefnos bydd y gêm gyfeillgar gyntaf ac mewn chwe wythnos gêm gyntaf y tymor. Rwy’n gwybod fod Tomi a Mel yn rhoi 100% -felly gadewch inni wneud yr un fath iddyn nhw!" Phil Jones, y Cadeirydd "The new season is almost upon us and I for one just can't wait. These are exciting times for the club and whether you like it or not there will be great changes ahead for Welsh football. "It is the board's task to make sure the club can achieve the Domestic Licence and we are determined to do so. Any help you can give, be it financial or practical, will be gratefully accepted. The club's position in the league is also paramount of course but I am confident that we have the right man in charge to take us to our highest league placing ever - No pressure then Tomi! He has a wealth of experience, an abundance of contacts, is respected by all his contemporaries, will soon have completed his Pro Licence (crucial to the Domestic Licence) and is one of the hardest working people I know. You will never please all of the people all of the time but I'm sure that with the new signings being added to the squad he will give us a team to be proud of. "The first friendly is in two weeks time and the first game of the season in six. I know Tomi, Mel and all the lads will be giving 100% so lets do the same for them!" Phil Jones, The Chairman |
